Last Time: The gang made it to Vegeta’s hideout but wouldn’t give Vegeta the Dragonballs. And then, shortly afterwards, the Ginyu Force arrived and stole them. Vegeta and Tanya fought Recoome, but were completely outmatched. Krillin and Gohan stepped in, but were easily defeated as well. And as Recoome was about to deliver the final blow to Tanya, Goku arrived to save the day once again.

How it all Began- Part 9

“Goku! You’re here at last!” Said Krillin.

Goku walked over to him with Tanya still in his arms. “Hey guys, sorry I’m late. I ran into a meteor shower on the way and it tore a hole in the ship. I had to slow down so I could repair it. But I’m here now, and ready to fight.” Said Goku, handing Krillin and Gohan some sensu beans.

As they ate there’s, Goku popped one into Tanya’s mouth. “Eat it, it will heal you.” He said.

Tanya began chewing it. Goku saw Bulma walk cautiously over to Vegeta, and kneel down beside him. “So, who’s this? And what happened to her and Vegeta?” Asked Goku.

“Her name’s Tanya, and she’s a former soldier of Frieza. She’s been helping us to gather the dragonballs and fight the bad guys Daddy.” Said Gohan.

“She and Vegeta fought that big over there, but he was too powerful for them. He was too powerful for all of us.” Krillin said bitterly.

“Ugh.”

They turned their attention to Tanya, who sat up and held her head. “You OK Tanya?” Asked Gohan.

“Yeah kid. What was that thing you gave me?” Asked Tanya.

“A sensu bean, it’s a magical bean that restores your energy and heals your body. Why did you call me Bardock earlier?” Asked Goku.

“You look like him, and you look similar to Raditz. You must be his second born son. Bulma, Krillin and Gohan have been telling me all about you. The Earthling Saiyan.”

“Ha ha. Well, I’m glad everything you’ve heard is good.”

They turned towards the Ginyu Force, who were in shock at the new-comers interference. “Those bastards think they’ve won.” Hissed Tanya.

“Well, I’ll be sure to make them think again.” Said Goku, taking a sensu bean and tossing it to Vegeta.

“Eat it Vegeta!” He called to him.

“Goku! What are you doing?!” Yelled Krillin.

“Giving him a sensu bean.”

“But are you sure we can trust him daddy?” Asked Gohan.

“I can see what you guys are saying, but if you feel you can’t trust him, then trust me. I won’t let him do anything to you guys. You have my word of honour.” Said Tanya.

Krillin and Gohan hesitated but then they nodded at her. They trusted Tanya, and knew she wouldn’t go back on her word. “Alright, I better go take care of those guys.” Said Goku, heading off towards the battlefield.

“Goku, wait!” Said Tanya.

Goku turned towards her. “Leave Recoome, Burter and Ginyu alive. I want to be the one to finish them.” She said.

“I will Tanya, but I need to take a little revenge for my son and my friends.”

With that, he walked off to face Recoome, alone.

~~~Back on Frieza’s ship.~~~

Ginyu landed with all of the dragonballs, much to Frieza’s delight. “Well done Captain Ginyu. I finally have all the dragonballs.” Frieza said happily.

“Thank you sire.” Said Ginyu.

Frieza bent down to stroke the tops of the dragonballs. “I can’t believe that I can finally make my wish of immortality.” He said.

“Frieza allow me to perform the dance of joy.”

Frieza paled as Ginyu got ready to dance. “Uh…Ginyu, save it for another day.” He said.

“Oh, I get it.” Ginyu said glumly.

“Ha ha, don’t tell me I hurt your feelings big guy. Lighten up. This is a historic moment you are about to share with me.”

“You’re right Frieza, what was I thinking? This is much bigger than the dance of joy.”

“Dragon, rise up and grant my wish now. I wish to be immortal so I can rule the universe!”

They waited for the fireworks to start. But nothing happened. “What, why isn’t anything happening?” Said Frieza.

“I…I don’t now sir, we have all 7 balls.”

“Wait, what was it old Namek said?”

~~~Mini Flashback.~~~
“Take the dragonball if you must. But know this, even if you do get all 7 balls, your wish still won’t be granted.”
~~~End flashback.~~~

“So that old Namek knew this would happen, he tricked me!”

“You know what’s wrong?”

“We need a password to activate these dragonballs, and only the Nameks know it.”

Frieza clenched his fists in anger. “Damn it! Those little tricksters!” He yelled.

“Don’t worry my lord, maybe some of the Nameks escaped your wrath. Let’s try and find some, and then we’ll make them tell us the password.”

They pressed the buttons on their scouters. “Hey there we go, there’s a bunch of Namek’s in sector three. There are 2 Nameks due north and another heading to them from the east. I thought we’d taken care of all these lizards, it’s a lucky break that we missed a few.” Said Frieza.

“Frieza, give me one hour and I promise that I’ll have all you need to know about the dragonballs.” Said Ginyu.

“Relax Ginyu, I’ve dealt with this stubborn race before, I’ll go do it. I know exactly which buttons to push to get what I want from these weaklings.”

Frieza sat down in his transport. “You stay here and guard my dragonballs Captain Ginyu, I’m counting on you to keep them safe.” Said Freiza.

“Wait my lord, there’s one more thing.” Said Ginyu.

“What is it?”

“Should you run into Vegeta and his friends, there’s a woman with blue eyes and blue hair. You should’ve seen Vegeta when Burter had her, he was torn in 2. He wanted to defend her. I think he has feelings for this woman.”

“Well, that is something. Perhaps you and your men should extend an invitation to her. If these Nameks won’t tell me the password, maybe they’ve already told it to those 2 earth runts. She’ll be the perfect leverage should we need to get the password from them. Now remember captain, protect the dragonballs!”

“Right, I’ll guard them with my life, like a hen guarding her eggs!”

With that, Frieza flew off towards Guru’s house. “I can almost taste victory.” He hissed.

Back at the ship, Ginyu pressed his scouter and began relaying a message to Jeice.

~~~Back on the battlefield.~~~

Tanya was nothing short of impressed with Goku. He was simply toying with Recoome. Gohan and Krillin were cheering him on. Vegeta hadn’t moved towards them, and Bulma, who was still very much afraid, dtayed behind the rock, behind Vegeta. “You’re father is quite the impressive fight Gohan. I can see why you guys thought he could defeat them.” She said.

“My dad is the most powerful person on Earth. He’ll beat the Ginyu force.” Gohan said happily.

“I hope so.”

Goku landed an elbow in Recoome’s midsection. Recoome held his stomach and fell flat on his face, unconscious. “I tried to warn you. You’re not strong enough to beat me.” Said Goku.

But on the other side of the battlefield, Jeice received a communication from Captain Ginyu. “Jeice, is that blue haired woman still with Vegeta and those other guys?” He asked.

“Yes sir, she’s over there with Vegeta.” Said Jeice.

“Capture her and bring her to the ship. She’ll be our leverage to get the Earthlings to give us the password for the Dragonballs.”

“Password? But sir, what if they don’t know the password?”

“Then we get a special treat.”

Jeice’s eyes widened, as the memory of Tanya’s ordeal came to mind. “Sir, I can’t do it. I won’t do it!” He shouted.

This earned the attention from the opposing fighters. “What can’t he do?” Asked Krillin.

“I don’t know, but I’ve got a bad feeling about all this.” Said Tanya.

“He looks really torn up. It must be bad what that guys wants him to do.” Said Goku.

Burter then turned on his scouter as Ginyu contacted him. As he did so, Vegeta understood what Ginyu wanted. “Woman, you have to get away from here now!” Said Vegeta.

“What? But why?” She asked.

“They’re after you. I don’t how or why, but they’re after you. You have to leave now before they make a move.”

Then, they watched in horror as Recoome got up, as if nothing had happened. “YAY! Recoome, it’s time for a little fun! Get the blue haired woman!” Yelled Burter.

Goku tried to stop him but Recoome kneed him in the groin, and kicked Gohan and Krillin away as he ran by them. “Recoome! Burter! No, don’t…” Started Jeice but Burter simply punched him into the rock wall.

“Shut up, you insubordinate traitor!” Yelled Burter.

Recoome ran at Tanya, but this time she was ready. As Recoome neared her, she fazed out of sight. The next sensation Recoome knew was cold steel stabbing into his heart. Tanya had re-appeared in front of him, and stabbed him with her dagger. “That’s for all the pain you’ve caused me. Burn in hell you bastard!” She cried, as she blasted him away into nothing but ashes.

Burter was flying at the speed of light towards Bulma and Vegeta. But Vegeta simply jumped and kicked Burter’s chin, making him fly into the air. He then gathered his energy into his palms and fired his ‘Final Flash’ technique. And like with Recoome, there was nothing left but ashes. When Jeice saw what had happened, he quickly flew out of the hole in the wall and fled the battlefield, unnoticed by the other warriors.

Vegeta struggled to catch his breath, but had to act fast as Bulma fainted into his arms. Tanya went to the others. “You guys OK?” Asked Tanya.

“Yeah, we’re good.” Said Krillin.

“What was all that about?” Asked Goku.

“It was about her.” Said Vegeta, walking up to them with Bulma in his arms.

“What?” Asked Gohan.

“Jeice must’ve received some sort of order from Captain Ginyu. But what would make them so desperate as to take a hostage?”

“Hey I know.” Shouted Goku.

“Then please enlighten us Kakarot.”

“I’ll bet Frieza doesn’t know the password.”

The warriors looked at him in disbelief. “The Dragonballs here don’t work like the ones on Earth. Here, you need a password.” Goku continued.

“A password? That must mean that Frieza thinks we know what it is, and that’s why Jeice was ordered to get the woman.” Said Vegeta.

“Speaking of which, where is Jeice?” Asked Tanya.

It wasn’t until now that they realised Jeice had escaped.

~~~Back at the ship.~~~

“Jeice, are you trying to tell me that 3 of the most powerful men in the universe, were defeated by Vegeta and Tanya?” Asked Ginyu.

“Yes sir, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Recoome was already weakened from battle, that’s why Tanya could destroy him. But Burter was in top form, and Vegeta destroyed him as though he were nothing.” Said Jeice.

“And where were you when all this happened?”

“Burter received your communication and then sent me flying through a wall. They were already dead by the time I came to. When I saw they were dead, I came straight here to report it.”

“In other words, YOU RAN AWAY!”

Jeice flinched at the Captain’s loud rant. “YOU…YOU DISGRACE! HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR ORANGE FACE AROUND HERE!” He yelled.

Ginyu quickly composed himself, but his thoughts were on his fallen teamates. “Guldo, Recoome, and Burter. They’re gone, all gone!” He thought angrily.

“Men, your chances of making the squad have just improved. There are now 3 openings on the team.” Said Ginyu.

He walked along the line of recruits. “You 3, I want you to go over there and bury those dragonballs. You and the rest of the men are to guard them until I return.”

The men scrambled to carry out his orders. Ginyu then walked back over to Jeice and grabbed him by the shirt collar. “And you…are going to show me where those weaklings are.” Said Ginyu.

“Yes…sir.” Said Jeice, trying to sound respectful.

Any more disobedience on his part would result in his death. And as much as he hated his life, Jeice wasn’t ready to die.

~~~Back at the battlefield.~~~

“So, the Nameks made a plan that no one with ill-intentions would be able to use the Dragonballs. Smart move, but I’ll bet Frieza’s really pissed off right about now.” Said Tanya.

“And he’ll be looking for any Namek elders to tell him the password.” Said Gohan.

“But, he’s killed all the Namek elders except…oh no!” Yelled Krillin.

“What?” Asked Vegeta.

“The only Namek elder left on Namek is the creator of their dragonballs, Guru. And if he dies, the dragonballs go with him.” Said Tanya.

“What! You mean if that old Namek dies, the dragonballs are useless?”

“OW!”

In his rant, Vegeta had dropped Bulma. “Kakarot, quick! Help me locate Frieza!” Shouted Vegeta.

“Right.” Said Goku.

Bulma got up and rubbed her head. “What happened?” She asked as Tanya came over.

“I’ll fill you in later.” She answered.

Goku stopped. “He’s heading over in that direction.” Said Goku.

“So we were right, he’s going after Guru.” Said Krillin.

“Guru’s so kind, he’s like a grandfather. Why would anyone want to hurt someone so good?” Asked Gohan.

“I think you just answered your own question kid. Guru’s a good guy and Frieza hates good guys. I wouldn’t put it past Frieza to kill Guru after he’s used the dragonballs, just to make sure no one else can use them against him.”

“Then we’ve got to find the dragonballs first and use them before Frieza gets to Guru. All of you go to the ship and find the dragonballs, and make the wishes before Frieza does.” Said Goku.

“Are you trying to give me an order Kakarot?” Hissed Vegeta.

“No Vegeta, I’m asking you and Tanya to protect my friends and my son. Please Vegeta.”

Vegeta looked angry, but nodded his head nonetheless. “Alright then, you guys better go. 2 power levels are heading this way.” Said Goku.

Vegeta was about to fly off when Bulma grabbed his arm. Without a word, Vegeta wrapped his arm around her waist and flew ahead. The others looked confused, but the 3 warriors flew after him anyway. Leaving Goku to battle Ginyu on his own.

~~~20 minutes later, Frieza’s ship.~~~

The warriors stopped in midair above the ship. “Look at those weaklings, they don’t have a clue what’s going to happen.” Said Vegeta.

“What is going to happen Vegeta?” Asked Krillin.

“You 2 and the woman are going to stay out here. Tanya, we’re going in.”

“Right.” Said Tanya.

Krillin and Gohan grabbed Bulma as Vegeta and Tanya flew down. The unsuspecting soldiers were just relaxing. But that when Tanya and Vegeta began firing at them. Inside, men began to scramble to find out what was going on. As they neared the exit of the ship, they got the biggest shock of their lives. Vegeta and Tanya, battered and bloodied but still smirking, were standing before them. “Oh no, it’s Tanya and Vegeta. Ahh, it…can’t be.” One stuttered in fear.

Vegeta and Tanya began walking forward and the men scrambled to avoid them. A brave soilder tried to jump them, but Tanya shot her out and snapped the man’s neck. Another then fired at them, but Vegeta just held up his hand and the beam bounced back, hitting 2 other men in the process. No one else was stupid to try anything as Vegeta and Tanya walked forward.

Vegeta began making his way towards the main control room of the ship, Tanya beside him, and the men walking a few feet behind them. Vegeta opened the door to the room…only to find it empty. “Where are the…argh…Dragonballs?” Hissed Vegeta.

“Didn’t you say that they were here last time?” Asked Tanya.

Vegeta rounded on the men. “Well! Where are they? I want an answer right now!” He ordered.

The men stood they ground, even though they were visibly shaking. “Don’t tell me your afraid.” Said Vegeta.

Now the men were really scared. “Look, we’ve even come unarmed.” He continued.

The men ran away but Vegeta simply powered up and blasted them to smithereens. Vegeta walked over to the window as Tanya looked around the room for any hidden hiding places. “Those guys sure picked a bad time to be brave.” She said.

But Vegeta wasn’t listening. “The most obvious place to hide the dragonballs is inside the ship, but Frieza already knew that. I’ve got to give him more credit for that. We’ll just take our time and look around.” Said Vegeta.

“Let’s get the guys in here and then we can all get cleaned up.” Said Tanya.

She flew up to the hole in the window and whistled to the gang to come into the ship.

Next time: As the gang tried to figure out where the dragonballs could be, Goku arrives on the battlefield with Jeice. But wait…is that really Goku. And what’s Captain Ginyu doing with a huge wound in his chest. Not everything is as it seems.
