Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ I Always Keep My Promises ❯ Memorial ( Chapter 2 )
Chapter 2
Memorial.
Shay continued to rummage through her walk-in closet, ignoring her ranting boyfriend. Why is he still talking? He knows I'm not listening anymore. She thought to herself. It's no matter. I'm going whether he likes it or not.
"Are you finished yet? I'm trying to pack." She said.
"I know Tristan was your friend, but I'm not letting you run off with two guys who supposedly want to find Dragonballs! I don't know what kind of dragon you're looking for, but I wouldn't want anything to do with his balls!"
Shay rolled her eyes and continued to pick clothing off of the rack. "I want to see my friend again, and since there is a way to do that, then I'll do it."
"And what are you giving in exchange for seeing her again?" He said. Shay stopped and looked at him.
"Toshyo, do you know what happens when you assume things?" She said calmly. He stared at her, waiting for her to answer. "You make an ass of yourself. Stop trying to control me." She folded the clothes that she picked out and put them into her suitcase. "This conversation is over."
Hero was silent for a few minutes. "Are you still going to go with them?"
"Yes, I am."
"Then we're over, too." Shay watched his retreating back as he left her room. A few seconds later she heard the front door slam shut.
I hopelast night was fun for him, `cause it's the last he'll see of me. She thought as she slammed down the top of the suitcase

I walked through the empty grounds of the house. It was Wednesday and everyone had gone home for the day. The sun had just gone under the horizon and snow was falling. It was only early September and yet the snow started falling as soon as I stepped outside. It was 70 degrees outside just yesterday. This would be the last day that I had to wait until the Dragonballs became active again and I couldn't help but be anxious to start looking for them. I took flight toward the place where Tristan was buried, the same place where she died. It didn't take me long to get there. I spent so much time here that the route to her resting place had been burned forever in my memory. Craters could still be seen in the ground from that battle. I lowered down and saw the huge rock that I had been slammed into after the blast. The imprint of my body was still there. When Tristan's headstone came into view, I landed and walked the rest of the way, the familiar pain in my heart making itself known. I had the headstone made so that everyone would know how courageous she was. I brushed the snow from the front and read the inscription. "There is no higher honor than for one to give their life for another. Tristan Nyshell Akeru. November 9, 1980-April 18, 2003." I kneeled down in front of it and watched the snow build up, lost in thought. Funny, but the sight of the snow falling on the headstone was beautiful, in an eerie way. I placed the roses I had into the holder and let out a sigh. I wish she was here to enjoy them. My eyes burned as tears threatened to fall. Suddenly I felt my anger start to return. "This isn't fair, Tristan!" I yelled at the sky. "You should still be alive! That was supposed to be me!" I punched the ground, my body now shaking as I audibly cried tears that I had been holding back since April. "Why did you leave me?" The last sentence was choked out because of the lump in my throat. After a few minutes, a calm feeling came over me out of nowhere. Instantly the tears stopped. Whatever it was, it had left me feeling somewhat at peace. "I love you so much, Tristan. Do you hear me?" I asked. Just then a small dove landed on her headstone, fluttering its feathers against the snow. That was another rare sight. I reached out and stroked its back. Surprisingly, it didn't fly away. It was then that I realized that she had heard me. A few seconds later, the dove chirped and flew away. "I guess that meant you love me too." I smiled. "It won't be too much longer until we find the Dragonballs. Goten and Shay are going to help me look for them so we can wish you back. Soon we will be together again. I promise." I stood, took one last look, and headed for home.
