Chapter 33

It was dark when Trunks walked through the door of the town house he shared with Pan. She was never going believe every thing that was happening with Mark and Bra. It had been a roller coaster ride and now he was home. Thank Dende, back to his loving wife and sweet baby daughter. He came up short when he saw Pan in the living room flipping through papers.

“Pan, honey I am home.” He smiled as she jumped a bit and turned to face him. A look of sheer relief flooded her features and she jumped over the back of the couch and ran into his arms. “Wow, some one missed me?”

Pan nodded “you will never believe what has happened?” She looked up at him her eye commanding his attention. Trunks tilted his head in concern “Remember when you said Aiko was fine with your father?”

Trunks swallowed “Sweet Dende... Is he all right? What did he do?”

Pan took Trunks hand in hers and walked down the hall. She could feel the reluctant steps he was taking behind her. Putt her open palm on her daughters bedroom door she pushed it open to reveal the sleeping Aiko in her new toddler bed.

Trunks blinked “What? She has a new friend?”

“No, that IS your daughter.” Pan watched the confusion play across his face then followed by rampant disbelief. “Vegeta took Aiko to the room of spirit and time.”

Trunks felt his entire being trembled as he shouted “The Hyperbolic time chamber? NO WAY? What was he thinking?”

Aiko sprang from her bed in her pale blue pajamas and looked around. “Grandpa?”

Trunks rushed over to her and knelt before her “Aiko, baby it s daddy. How are you?”

Aiko looked at Trunks and relaxed “Daddy? I...” She hugged him “I remember you!”

Gina Devero drummed her fingers in front of her. Mark has escaped. This was better then she has hoped for. Now he was a fugitive. If thing worked out once Mark was set foot on U.S. soil again he would be arrested. Global was comfortably under Gina's control with their president at large. There was nothing he could do to stop her. Not without returning to the states.

A knock at the door snapped Gina from her thoughts. She made her way through he hall to the large doors. Opening them she came face to face with Jeff Ambers. “You.” She blinked her huge green eyes. “What are you doing here?”

Jeff frowned at her “Mrs. Devero.” He held out a picture to Gina “Do you know this woman?”

Gina failed miserably as she tried to hide her shocked horror. “I have never sent this woman before in my life.”

Jeff chuckled “I am sure that was exactly what Thomas Devero would have wanted.” He pulled the picture back and stared at it “But then things didn't work out that way. They rarely do when lovers are involved.” He looked up to se Gina's delicate features crumbling under the stress. “Diana Carter was on the Global jet the day it went down. She was killed with your husband, but she was never mentioned in the press release.”

Gina looked around and stepped away from the door “Please! Don't talk about this out here.” She hissed.

Jeff nodded and steppe in to the room “Nice place you have here, Mrs. Devero. He set you up nicely.”

“Tell me what you know.” Gina walked to the bar and poured her self a drink and swallowed it in one gulp.

“Thomas Devero was having an affair with Miss Carter for some time. In fact at the time of her death she was expecting a child. I can not be sure but I would bet it was his child.” Ambers watched Gina's back stiffen. “So you had no idea about it?”

Gina turned to face him “I knew about Diana. Every one knew. It was mortifying.” She shook her head and looked out the window “I did not know she was pregnant.”

Jeff lifted his eyes and studied her. “That one I will buy.” He tossed the picture on the stand nearby. “So you only had them killed because of the affair.”

Gina spun around to face him “I had no hand in that!”

“Really?” Jeff shook his head “If I took half the information I have to the cops right now you would be called in for questioning in a heat beat, Mrs. Devero. So you better start talking and start talking fast.”

Gina wrung her hands. “What do you want me to say? That I did not want them both dead? Well I did! I was relieved when it was over. I mean think about it. I was a beauty queen. I had given him a son. I was the prefect corporate wife. I gave up my life to be everything for that man. I loved him, and how does he repay me? He finds a fat whore to shack up with behind my back.” Gina began to pace all the rage and jealousy coming back to her. With each painful memory the hot tears began to flow over her face. “I was so ashamed when I found out. It only got worse when I realized everyone else already knew. No one told me a thing. They just laughed or pitied me behind my back. My world was crumbing around me. The only one who cared at all was John Sanders. He was so good to me and loyal.” She wiped her tears and sat down. “He quit his job shortly after I confided in him about what was going on. In the end it was for the best, since he would have died when the jet went down as well.”

Jeff Ambers gasped. “You mean you did not know the plane was sabotaged?”

Gina stood up fast. “What? No, I was told it was engine failure.” She looked at Jeff Ambers in alarm. “I am the obvious one, but I swear on my daughter's life I had not hand in it. Who would do that?”

Jeff turned and strode for the door. “I think I know. If what I suspect is true Mark is still in danger.”

Gina snorted. “That boy, he has always been nothing but trouble.”

Jonathan Sanders stood by his daughter as they looked at the sprawling Capsule estate. “Looks like your parents have a really nice place here, Bra.”

“My mom has a nice place. My father just spends most of his time training.” Bra supplied as she climbed out of the car. Mark took her hand and helped Bra to her feet. “I am glad you agreed to stay with us Mr. Sanders. I know Melody would want to be near you. This way she can have to become acquainted with her brother.”

Melody yawned softly and stared with sleepy eyes. The only thing she desired was a hot shower and a warm bed. Mark looked over at his sister. She was the vision of his mother standing there. She was obviously not use to night life. There was so much he was yet to learn about the girl. “Bra, Perhaps we should get them in and settled. Mel looks like she is about to pass out on us.”

Melody looked over with a warm smiled. “I am sorry it is so obvious. I never thought traveling would take so much out of me.”

Bra motioned everyone to the house. Just as the reached the door Bra whirled around to se her brother landing in the yard and stalking toward the house. She smiled “Trunks! I thought you were going to your town house for the night. Is Pan and Aiko over here instead?”

Trunks shook his head “No, but I need to see father immediately.”

Bra looked over at Mark, who shrugged, and then back to her brother pushing past her and through the door “Why.”

“To kill him, of course.”
