It was Supposed To Be Forever
Chapter 9

It was quick, but the picture that slid across his mind was vivid enough to stop Vegeta's heart in his chest. He had been near sleep, surprising considering what he had been dealing with for the past few days, and his barriers were never as strong in the minutes right before slumber. And that's when he had seen it. His blue-haired woman entangled in the arms of that weakling human. He sat up, staring off into the darkness, not sure of what to think or do next. His blood was boiling, but it wasn't warming the ice the flowed through his veins. How could she do something like that? She had acted so upset when she accused him of cheating, and now she had turned around and done it herself? Perhaps that's what started her whole fit in the first place. Wasn't it said on this planet that the one to do the accusing was in fact the guilty party?

What he really wanted to do was rip the bastard's heart out and feed it to him slowly. He wanted to watch the infidel that had the nerve to touch his woman squirm at his feet. But he knew that wouldn't solve anything. It may make him feel better, but she would look at him with those tear filled eyes and he would have no choice but to either kill her or himself. He wasn't sure which one. Then the gates broke, and the overwhelming need to hurt her as much as she had done to him flowed through him with a powerful surge of wounded pride. Vegeta's fists clenched, and a wicked smirk danced across his angry face. Two could definitely play at this game.

Sapphra stepped out of the shower and wrapped the white towel around her body. She quickly dried off and put her hair into the towel, opting for a dark emerald green silk robe to cover her perfect curves. Walking from the giant marble bathroom and into her poshly decorated room; she couldn't help but almost dance her way to her vanity. He was gone. The man she had married all those years ago when she was naive and stupid was finally gone from her life. No more pretending to love him, no more ignoring his affairs and hiding dark bruises around her green eyes with dark designer sunglasses and no more spiteful affairs with any man that moved. She was finally free.

She really had been young and stupid when she married him, nothing more than a pretty girl from a small town who knew how to swing her hips and smile at men like they were the last man on earth. She'd come to the city like so many girls before her with dreams of becoming an actress or a model. Dreams of fame and money lured her there, but they were fleeting and left her cold and alone in a city where she knew no one. Too short to be a model, and really not good enough to be an actress, she had found herself waitressing in trashy topless bars trying to make ends meet. She could have made more money dancing on the stage like the other girls, but something in her refused to allow her to do it.

She met him there, entertaining some clients from another country who wanted to have a good time; his dashing looks and expensive suit reeked of money. The whole night, even with the other women naked before him, gyrating to overly loud bass, he kept his eyes on her as she brought drinks to his table in her short skirt. He began to frequent the club a lot, flirting with her and leaving her large tips. When he had asked her out for the first time, she kept smiling and said yes, running home to call her mother after work. She didn't love him, she really didn't even like him that much but her mother told her: "Marry first for money Sapph, you can marry for love later." And so she did.

Living the high life in the beautiful apartment and spending money until she dropped was a perfect life for a while. Until the beatings started. And the affairs began to pile up. She realized she was nothing more than a beautiful possession to him, just like his 15 cars, 2 jets and the yacht. She began to sleep with everyone, ignoring his wishes and earning greater beatings than before. She didn't care anymore. What was the point of a life with money if there was nothing but the hollow shell of a relationship waiting for her when she got home?

But then there was him. The dark man from the shadows, standing so tall and so proud beside the heiress to Capsule Corp at the parties, looking handsome and dangerous in his tux. His eyes could burn holes through anyone and the best part was her husband was terrified of him. If she could land him, she could get rid of her husband with no more than a second thought, and find out for herself what kept Bulma on his arm for so long. He was something out of a dark, erotic fantasy. He was the character in the stores were women were terrified of him, but immensely turned on at the same time, as he came out of the shadows to claim her as his own and take her to places she'd never been. Just thinking of him made her shudder.

Brushing her long red hair, she thought about Vegeta. He had saved her; after all that did mean something, didn't it? Was he ready to accept her offers and come over for a late night "visit?" Lightning flashed outside her window, showing a strange silhouette in the window through the reflection of the mirror. She dropped her brush and spun the top of her robe opening just enough to show the tops and sides of her perky breasts.

"Vegeta?" she whispered.
