It Will Happen: Another Bulma & Vegeta Get Together
Chapter Sixteen
A Date
"YOU look lovely tonight." Chi Chi told Bulma truthfully.
"Why thank you Chi Chi." Bulma let out a small laugh, a laugh that had not been heard unless it was about or for her son.
Chi Chi knew that Vegeta had messed with her friends heart far more than the proud Bulma would let on but friends noticed these things. Not to mention she felt guilty for she had depended on Bulma for so long since Goku had died and here she was doing it again.
Chi Chi had not even seen Bulma grieve for her best friend or her lost lover.
"So why are you all dressed up tonight?" Chi Chi asked casually.
"I have a date."
Chi Chi chocked on her tea. She coughed to settle herself before asking, "Did I just here you right?"
Bulma gave another small laugh only now her cheeks were flushed too. "Yes Chi you did. Its not really much, just dinner with someone who's been very persistent." Bulma confided.
"I see." Chi Chi said thoughtfully. "And what does Vegeta think about your date?"
Bulma's face immediately lost its smile and if it had been a lesser person they would have cowered at Bulma's death glare. "What could he say about it. Its my life. Besides, he wouldn't even care." Bulma gave a bitter laugh.
"Oh I don't know about that." Chi Chi said honestly.
She wasn't a fan of Vegeta and he didn't hide that he disliked her too but her friends happiness was most important to her and she knew that Bulma was not over Vegeta.
After four years her friend was still crazy about the arrogant Saiyan. She was glad that Bulma was going out, since she knew that the other woman devoted most of her time to her work and son now, but she also knew that Bulma would not be happy with anyone but Vegeta.
And she knew he cared. She had never seen him look at anyone the way he looked at Bulma and Trunks, when he thought that no one noticed that was. But she saw because she was looking for the signs. And not only did the man stay for four years he spent most of his day, although training, but with his five year old son. Even Goku had refused to be wished back to Earth and Vegeta was still here. Chi Chi thought, still slightly bitter at her adventurous husbands decision.
And she knew enough about Saiyans to know that they were faithful partners.
"So how have you been?" Bulma asked.
"Oh, same old same old." Chi Chi said.
Bulma nodded sadly. "Yeah, it just isn't the same without him." And her big blue eyes grew misty with unshed tears.
Chi Chi didn't even know if Bulma had cried for Goku yet. She was trying to be too strong and she was bottling up all her emotions. But soon she would have to let go. 'And I know the perfect person to help her with that.' Chi Chi thought as her pupils slyly moved to the end of her eyes before coming back to Bulma.
"Yes. At least when I was pregnant with Goten I had my mind occupied and had to be strong and then when he was born he needed me ..." Chi Chi trailed off, feeling silly for her feelings.
"Oh Chi." Bulma held her hand that rested on the table. "And now that he's growing up he needs you less and you have more time on your hands to mourn your husband." It seems like her friend understood her feelings all too well.
Chi Chi just nodded while she regained her composure.
"I feel the same with Trunks. And I feel guilty because I was using him to get over Vegeta." Bulma admitted to ease her friends conscience. "Not that I would have been any less involved in Trunks' life, I just feel guilty sometimes to think that someone so small and innocent helped me when I should have been helping him."
"Hey, you're the best mother I know. Well apart from me that is." Chi Chi joked and the two woman gave rueful chuckles.
"Yeah. I guess loosing a loved one is that hard hey. But at least Goku loved you and you knew it. Even although he's gone, his love still lives in your heart and in his two sons. I on the other hand have to look at the one I love most and know that he lives without love for me. Without any feelings at all." Bulma laughed again.
"You're brave you know that!" Chi Chi complimented her.
"I'm a genius. I won't spend forever, crying over a guy who broke my heart. I'm way to pretty for that anyway." Bulma joked.
But just as Chi Chi was about to reply Bulma's mobile phone rang.
"Sorry Chi, I have to get this. I'll check on what's taking Trunks so long too." Bulma said as she excused herself from the kitchen.
As if on cue Vegeta walked into the kitchen. They passed by each other like regular house mates but Chi Chi could see the way Bulma's eyes looked at him longingly while Vegeta looked at Bulma with regret until he looked at her behind with appreciation. 'Men!' She mentally chided, rolling her eyes.
He completely ignored Chi Chi's presence and went to explore the contents of the fridge.
"You know eavesdropping is not becoming of you." She was happy to see his shoulders stiffen before he shrugged. Whether to ease its tension or brush of her comment she didn't know although she had a good feeling it was both.
"Well I suggest you do something about it."
He turned to face her leaning on the counter drinking from a liter of a sports drink. He looked at her thoughtfully before saying, "I don't know what it is you want me to do." She had the oddest feeling he was actually asking her for help, in his own clever way, without risking his pride.
"Tell her exactly how you feel. She needs to hear the truth!" Chi Chi told him.
He smirked at her. "And the harpy has brains. Very surprising Kakarot's stupidity didn't rub off on you." Vegeta said as he walked away.
Chi Chi was too used to his rudeness or inability to be sensitive to take his comments to heart.
Besides she was taking Trunks for a stay over at her home for the weekend. With Bulma's parents gone, who knew what could happen later tonight.
* * *
Vegeta heard the doorbell ring and normally he would have never bothered to answer it but he knew who was on the other side of the door. Not in person, but in words, so to say.
"Yes?" He put on his deadliest scowl as he opened the door to come face to face with Bulma's date.
He looked younger than him, possibly younger than Bulma too. He was tall, well built for a human, though still with a puny energy level, and a good looking face. Though it was his confidence that annoyed Vegeta. 'Why does she always pick the weak pretty boys?' Vegeta thought as he fought the urge to roll his eyes.
"I'm here for Bulma." He said in a smooth drawl ignoring introductions or curiosity as to who Vegeta was. Didn't the guy care that a handsome devil was answering Bulma's door? Or maybe he knew who he was? But all Vegeta wanted to do was punch his face for saying her name so intimately.
"She's not in." Vegeta lied easily. He was about to shut the door when the other man quickly pushed his way inside with a frown on his face.
"Well that's weird because she was supposed to be here, Vegeta." He said as he ignored Vegeta's growl answering Vegeta's earlier question.
"Look idiot she's not here so get out of my house."
"Vegeta!"
Both men turned to see Bulma enter the room. She gave Vegeta and angry glare before turning a dazzling smile on her date. Vegeta wanted to grab her and fly off with her.
Take her to a place she couldn't escape from and keep her in bed for as long as it took to make her accept him in her life again. 'Not that it would take many attempts.' He thought smugly, but he definitely didn't like the way she was smiling at this idiot.
"Rex." She smiled some more. "I'm sorry for Vegeta's rudeness. He doesn't like people much."
"Its ok." He said sweetly, too taken by his dates beautiful appearance to let the father or her child get to him.
"Rex this is Vegeta, Trunks' father. Vegeta, a friend of mine, Rex."
Rex put out his hand but Vegeta glared at his hand before he "hmphed" and turned his head away from the other man haughtily.
"Anyway." Rex said turning to Bulma. "These are for you." He handed her a beautiful bunch of red roses. "And may I add how beautiful you look tonight." He said smoothly.
"You may not." Vegeta growled at the other man. She did look beautiful but that was not for him to say.
Bulma and Rex ignored Vegeta which only served to infuriate him more.
Bulma did not want to upset Rex so she thanked him politely and took the bunch of roses from him but kept it away from her face. She couldn't stand roses and they made her sneeze.
"Roses don't agree to her nose." Vegeta scoffed. The other two in the room turned to look at him in disbelief.
Rex couldn't believe he was still standing there like a watch dog and that he actually told him that he had failed in picking flowers for his date. Roses were safe and he had wanted to please Bulma.
Bulma looked at Vegeta in bewilderment. She didn't even know how he knew she didn't like roses and she couldn't believe that he would actually remember something like that.
"I'm sorry Bulma, I ..."
"Its ok Rex." Bulma cut him off. "How would you have known something like that." She smiled sweetly at him. "Vegeta will put this in water and we'll go ok."
She said as she deliberately pushed the bunch of roses into Vegeta's hands. He was too surprised to comprehend what was happening and held the roses from reflex reactions. She smirked at him before going over to link her hand through the hand Rex had offered her.
She had not wanted to leave the two men alone for who knew what Vegeta would do so she did the only thing she could have to avoid a blood bath. But she didn't get far when she felt a tight hold on the bare arm that wasn't looped through her dates hand.
"Yes?" She asked Vegeta through gritted teeth while she gave him a death glare.
He smirked at her knowing that she could not leave without her hand and he was too strong for her to escape his hold. "I want to talk to you."
"Not now." She told him sternly.
"Now!" He insisted like the spoiled little Prince he was. If she wasn't annoyed with his behavior she would have found it cute. Just like the time when he had had a little tantrum when her father didn't want to turn up the Gravity to four hundred times.
"But that's what I want!" He had whined and powered up as well, eventually scaring her poor father into obliging.
"You don't even know how to talk." She hissed through her clenched teeth but his arrogant smile didn't falter.
"Your choice." She wanted to laugh at him. It wasn't a choice at all.
"Fine." She sighed before turning to Rex who looked very put off by the entire ordeal. 'I should have just met him at the restaurant.' She thought. "I'll meet you in the car ok." She gave him a charming smile and he instantly panted "ok" like a dog before running of to the car to wait for her.
She couldn't help but roll her eyes. Rex was a sweetheart but he was also young and immature, just enjoying life and he was very infatuated with her.
She had turned down all his advances for the past month but finally she had said yes, just to get him off her back. He was still only just a boy after all.
"Pathetic." Vegeta muttered obviously noticing Rex's behavior too.
"What do you want Vegeta?" She asked as she pulled her arms from his grip to face him. "And be quick I don't have all night."
"You're not seriously going out in that are you?" He spat.
She raised an eyebrow. She was wearing a simple bottle green dress. It landed just before her knees and was sleeveless but it suited her coloring and her figure well. She felt comfortable in it, it was sexy but not slutty.
"Why?" She asked.
"Why? Don't you have any respect woman. You're a mother to a five year old boy."
"That may be so, but I'm also a woman. And other people think so too." She said suggestively looking at the waiting car.
Was he jealous? After four years she decides to go on a date and here he was lecturing her on her dressing. What did it matter anyway?
Vegeta looked at Bulma. She looked truly beautiful in that dress. He liked seeing her creamy skin and full curves that had grown lush after her pregnancy. She had always been curvaceous but after her pregnancy even though she regained her slim form she had filled out perfectly.
She didn't know how many nights he spent in her room watching her sleep just so he could breath in her scent or touch her skin with out her knowing. She had tormented him for so long. Even now he just wanted to rip her clothes and claim her. But his pride had made him refrain from going to her. He wasn't entirely sure how she would react.
She had not shown any sign that she may still want him. Until he had heard her words today. And he couldn't go on with her under the same roof without wanting her. He would not let another man take what was his.
But her words infuriated him. He didn't want other men looking at his woman. He knew she was still a beautiful and attractive woman but the thought of other men knowing that too, made him want to blast them into the next dimension.
"Don't go." He commanded as he tossed the roses to the floor and grabbed her wrist now pulling her to him.
The bastard was finally jealous because he thought that she was no longer available to him. 'No way will I give in!' She told herself.
She rubbed herself against him provocatively while sliding an arm around his neck. He moaned as he buried his face in her neck and inhaled her scent.
She smiled in victory. "Vegeta." She whispered in his ears.
"Mmm?" He said distractedly.
"Tonight I'm in the mood to take off my small dress and lay naked upon cool sheets of silk as I writhe in pleasure." She murmured as she bit his ear lobe. "Its been so long!" She all but moaned those last four words.
She felt him smirk against her neck. "Yes. Too long." She heard the desire in his voice and she felt his arousal pressing against her inner thighs. She still had the power to turn him on easily. He too still wielded that power over her but she refused to loose tonight. Not when she finally had him exactly where she wanted him, after so long.
"So don't wait up for me." And with that she pulled out of his confused embrace, savoring the look of rage and disbelief on his face before she winked at him and walked out of the door.
She knew she was leaving behind a large crack in the wall but that only made her victory all the more sweeter. He could no longer deny he wanted her but she had to make sure he learned his lesson. Hence she was going through with her date.
