It Will Happen: Another Bulma & Vegeta Get Together
Chapter Nineteen
Those Three Words
"SO you haven't forgiven him yet." Chi Chi said.
"Why should I?" Bulma shrugged as she stood at the sink, her back towards her friend.
She didn't even have to ask what or who Chi Chi was talking about. She had told her what had happened and personally she was surprised that Chi Chi of all people was not furious with what Vegeta had done.
It had been three weeks since she had found out about Vegeta giving himself to the control of Babidi and her anger had not abated yet. Not even a little.
The truth was she was more angry that Vegeta wanted to forget Trunks and her than the fact that he had wanted to fight Goku or even that he had killed all those innocent people. Goku was still here, and alive after seven years and all the people were wished back.
But she could not get over Vegeta's betrayal of her. That's what had hurt her the most! She couldn't believe that after everything they went through he had done that to her. And to her son, their son.
She knew he had purposely blocked her out from his mind and heart that day and that cut, deeply. But she had felt her heart break when he had died, he couldn't stop her from feeling pain could he.
They hadn't spoken about what had happened ever since she had found out. He had tried to talk to her that very day but she had told him later. Although that never happened. She had feigned sleep that night and he had not woken her.
Now she would avoided him and he hadn't tried to talk to her again. She was hardly at home anymore, she spent a lot of time at work or in her Lab and he made no attempt to talk to her. He didn't even attempt to touch her.
But for some reason she couldn't find it to scream or shout or lash out at him. She just felt broken and empty every time she saw him! Didn't he care about her? Stupid question! He did try to become evil again and forget her right. Idiot!
She did see changes in him though. Changes that tore at her heart. He wasn't as obsessed with his training anymore, he dressed more and more in Earth clothing and he spent a lot of time with Trunks. And not all that time was used for training.
No, the boys actually went fishing and hiking and played games together. Of course the stuff they did was quite extreme and could be seen as father son rivalry but it was amazing to see Trunks blossom under his fathers wing. He even took Trunks to the park more often now, without bribing the little boy. She also heard him laugh a lot more than he ever used to and all that pulled at her heartstrings.
"Damn Vegeta!" Bulma growled as she wiped her hands dry and sat at the table with Chi Chi. She reached for her tea and took a long sip.
"Bulma, just talk to him and get it over with. You obviously have a lot on your mind and you need to get it off your chest."
"How is it that you can forgive what he's done?" Bulma asked Chi Chi. "After all, it was your husband that he beat up and for that you have a right to feel as angry as I do."
Chi Chi sighed. "I am not Vegeta's biggest fan and I never will be, but he's not a bad person anymore."
Bulma scoffed. Chi Chi glared at her friend, she was getting tired of the 'poor me act'.
"If you don't believe it then why is he still living in your house and sleeping in your bed? And don't tell me its because of Trunks because its not only that. You still love him." Chi Chi said sternly.
Bulma looked at her in surprise.
Chi Chi softened her motherly tone. "Look, I see the difference in him now and I know you do too. I also know that Goku told you what he told me about what happened between him and Vegeta. I also understand that your upset and angry and hurt. And you have all the right to be, but don't let that blind you to what's most important." Chi Chi advised.
"I don't know if I can let him in again." Bulma said truthfully.
'Its time to let out the big guns.' Chi Chi thought. She did hate doing this and her plan could back fire but it was her last hope.
Chi Chi got up and huffed. "Listen Bulma, you once told me that Goku's sacrifice proved how much he loved me. But Goku also did it for the entire Planet. Then he goes and stays dead for seven years."
"But Vegeta has always been responsible, he may not be as sweet as my Goku but he loves you and Trunks very much. If his sacrifice didn't mean anything to you then you don't deserve him. Stop being a spoiled little selfish brat and appreciate what you have instead of whining about what you don't have. Which is nothing really, if I may add."
And with that Chi Chi grabbed her stuff and headed for the door but not with out one last parting shot. "Call me when you've grown up from this situation." And with that she left a dumbfounded and dazed Bulma alone with her thoughts.
Bulma got up from her seat and went up to her room. Chi Chi's words still lay heavy on her chest. A nap should ease her befuddled mind.
Upon entering her room though she saw Vegeta sprawled on their bed with an arm over his forehead. She stood still at the door way for a long time, contemplating whether she should go in or not.
"How long are you going to keep punishing me?" He asked quietly.
Bulma sighed and walked into the room. He got up and sat on the edge of the bed, staring at her. Bulma went to their bed and sat down next to him.
"Where's Trunks?" She asked.
"He left with Gotten and the harpy."
"I see."
And then there was a long silence. Eventually Vegeta sighed and got up to leave but Bulma held him back. Maybe she should talk to him. At least if things got bad Trunks wasn't around to hear it.
Vegeta looked at her small hand holding his wrists he couldn't help himself. He pulled her to him and kissed her deeply. It had been so long since he had held her in his arms or tasted her lips. At first she didn't respond but soon she kissed him back. Although he could feel the anger that she put into that kiss.
Then she bit his tongue. Vegeta cursed and pulled his head back though he still held her in his arms. He looked down to see her smirking at him.
"If you didn't want to kiss me you could have just said so." He growled.
"I couldn't talk with your tongue down my throat." She said sweetly.
"Witch." He muttered.
Bulma ignored his curse. "Why did you do it Vegeta?" She whispered sadly.
He couldn't pretend that he didn't know what she meant. He was relieved that she was talking to him again but it was a conversation he was dreading.
He sighed before sitting back down on the bed and taking her with him. She sat on his lap with one arm around his neck and the other playing with his chest.
"Seeing Kakarot again just fueled my rage. I had waited so long to fight him and I still held on to that desperate need to prove myself better than him. I was also scared." He said softly. This was no time for his pride.
"In the last three years I've become so attached to you and Trunks it felt like I was loosing my old self. I wanted the person I used to be and that scared me. I was becoming almost human and I felt it a betrayal to the Saiyan race." He was glad she was not interrupting him for it was not easy to say the things he was saying. Plus having her this close to him was affecting his mind and body too.
"I just saw it as a means to escape this life, to become evil again and have an excuse for betraying you and Trunks. I was a coward and I knew I could never hurt you two intentionally so when I saw what Babidi could do I saw a means to justify my way."
Bulma nodded but moved away from his lap. She stood up and started pacing. She knew all this but to hear him say it hurt more than anything in the world.
"Bulma?"
"What Vegeta? What, do you want me to just say its ok don't worry! So you killed a couple thousand people, beat up my best friend and wanted to be evil and forget me and your son. But I still love you I'll accept any of the nonsense you give me." Bulma's voice rose with every word.
"I thought you loved me, in your own way, I thought I meant something to you ..."
"You do." He assured her.
"Don't interrupt me." She snapped. "I knew that when I mated and married you, hell even when I had Trunks and fell in love with you that it wouldn't be easy. But I accepted that! I knew it would take an independent and secure woman to love you, I knew I would have to be someone strong and still sensitive to handle you and I knew I could do it!"
"Even when you kept pushing me away, I still had hope. I still waited. Then when you asked me to become your mate I thought that you had finally realized that I was the one for you too. I thought that you saw that. But then you go and try to forget Trunks and I like we were just passing acquaintances. How am I supposed to feel about that Vegeta? Tell me!"
She felt the tears pour from her eyes as her words left her lips.
Vegeta put his head down. She was right, he should have realized how much she meant to him before. Not when he had finally lost her. She deserved better than that!
"I'll tell you Vegeta." Bulma yelled. "Betrayed, hurt, angry! That's how I should feel. Damn you." Bulma cursed as she made for the door.
She needed to get out. She did feel all those things but she also still felt want, need and love for him. 'Damn me!'
Vegeta saw Bulma turn to leave and he knew it was now or never. If he didn't do it then he could possibly loose her forever.
"Bulma, I love you!"
Bulma stopped before the door her whole body frozen at his words. Not once had he said those words. Not once in all the years she had known him. Even when they had been married and bonded.
She turned around to face him and saw the desperate look on his face. If it had been any other time she would have laughed. "What did you just say?"
"You heard me woman." He growled.
Still the same arrogant bastard as ever. But he was right, she had heard him and she knew he meant it! That was all that mattered. She would cherish it forever.
Bulma ran towards him and flung her arms around his neck. Vegeta fell back from surprise, luckily the bed had been behind him.
Bulma let go of him and sat up, straddling his waist, she pummeled his chest. "You big arrogant oaf. Don't you ever leave Trunks and I again or I will personally come to the next dimension and kick your ass for you."
Vegeta laughed. From pure joy and relief. Finally he had his mate back.
He pulled her down to him to kiss her passionately. It was time to reinstate their bond ... And that could take hours.
