Chapter 4: Finding a Legend

I have been out in space for about a year and I can feel tremendous power levels all around me, but one keeps appearing then disappearing on me. It is larger than my own, much larger. I get the odd transmission from Earth from the good doctor and my parents, wondering what I'm doing and how my supplies are faring, turns out on Earth Kakarrot did quite well and was able to get rid of the saiyan threat. The fight has moved off planet now as a few people left for the Namekian home world and are racing to find the dragon balls there to help bring a few of their friends back from the war against the saiyans. The bad thing is I sense Freiza will be in hot pursuit as well hoping to wish for eternal life. Dr. Brief told me that Vegeta had gotten away so I imagine that he will be on the planet as well. In my mind Kakarrot should have got rid of that saiyan pest, from what my father told me about the boy he was stuck up, ignorant, and cruel. Not to mention that he was powerful to boot, all he did was train or go on missions leading the elite saiyan warriors into battle, taking planets for Lord Freiza. But I had more important things on my mind as of now, there was a great and overwhelming power around me bouncing from planet to planet and it would grow while on one then fall dramatically once it some time had surpassed. I have tried to follow it for some time now but all I can find is what's left, to tell you the truth that wasn't much. While I followed the trail, all I could do was train and hope that it was a being that wouldn't have a grudge against my people.

. . .

Time had passed and the incredible being had all but vanished, I was at a dead end with nowhere to go. The up and coming planet was uncharted but it seemed to be large enough to train on for a bit and maybe find some food. Strapping myself in I prepped the ship and coasted into its atmosphere constantly feeling around for energy signatures, I felt animal life but that was about it. I couldn't tell if there were any people on the planet or not so I had no idea what to expect. Upon landing I headed out and noticed a swampy sort of environment where you were more likely to find snakes and toads more often than people. Lifting off I started my cruise over the general surface of the planet, the surface was generally damp but there were rocky areas about me while I took my tour. The territory was diverse but not enough to call it distinct, I blasted out over the forest until I came to an opening that vast a treeless must to the likings of a prairie. Moving low I blasted forward, then from out of the forest into the open. From here I could see for miles around, scanning the landscape I found a small pillar of smoke due south from my location. Hastily I left to inspect the area, the path took me over another swamp and through a thick blanket of forest before I came upon the pillar. Looking down on the area I found it to be a village, empty but still a village. Dropping down I seen older saiyan armor and equipment scattered about, picking up a set of shoulder pads I was shocked to feel a blaster pushed to the back of my head.

"Drop the armor and slowly turn around," the man said not moving a muscle.

"Fine, who are you people, I recognize the armor style are you saiyan?" I asked him.

"I'm not but my leader and his son are, his son is a proud example of the saiyan race," he explained signaling me to move forward. "You shall meet him soon enough".

He guided me into one of the huts nearby where inside sat a man, well scarred and war beaten. To his right sat a young man about my age with black hair and eyes, he world golden garments around his head and neck.

The older man spoke, "who are you? What have you, sneaking around looking in on us".

"I only search for an energy level, one comparable to my own. I have sensed it in this area but it keeps dropping off to the point that it becomes indistinguishable from any other life form,"

"Really?" asked the man. "What brought you here?"

"From this planet was the last I felt it before the trail went cold again," I explained adjusting myself to be ready.

"What race are you boy? For someone so young you seem quite powerful,"

"Should you know?" I questioned him sternly.

As I finished my sentence his guards had their blasters to my head. Grinning, I grabbed one of the blasters from near my head, fast as lightning, crushing it within my grip.

"It would be wise to tell your men to lighten up other wise they could get hurt and very easily I might add,"

"Hhmmmnn, you may be right but I will let them stay," he told me not taking his eyes off my hands.

Seeing this I had to laugh, "It's not my hands which you should worry about, I have far worse things than that".

With that said I gathered my Ki and began to power up. The hut and the ground beneath us began to shake, as my energy started to push him and his men away from me. I blasted my energy outward killing his men and causing the young boy to pick up the man and carry him above me.

"I told you…" I told him starting to lift off the ground.

"I can stay here son, you can let me go,"

"Right father," the young man replied allowing his father to float beside him.

"You know stranger you are starting to become a handful, and you still haven't told me what you are," he exclaimed the anger beginning to build in his voice.

Slowly I uncoiled my tail, awaiting an attack but it never came. The old man sat there bewildered as if someone had hit over the head with a two by four.

"I should have guessed, your strength and speed, even your attitude reek of it. You're a saiyan."

"Yeah, surprised?"

"No, we just thought we would never meet another. Did King Vegeta send you to find us and finally kill me and my son for good?" he asked in suspicion.

"I'm from Earth, Vegeta is dead, Freiza blew it up," I told them.

"WHAT?"

"Yeah I though you would have known by now, I mean you should if you know about the saiyans,"

"You fool we are saiyan!"

"Really?" I stated skeptically. "Then where are your tails?"

"They were removed by Vegeta and his guards when they tried to kill us. I had allies on the guard helped that scum. I remember one in particular his name was Pektar he was old but very able, he was also a fool letting his son run off to do hell knows what," he exclaimed, I could feel the anger swelling inside me ready to explode.

"HOW DARE YOU SPEAK OF MY FAMILY LIKE THAT," I shouted to him.

"You? Of Pektar's blood? Wait I see the resemblance now, how ironic. Pektar's blood to hunt my own," he stated with his son close to his side. "Oh well I always do hate disposing of our own race. I would like you to meet someone, this is my son Brolly he is a very able fighter would you like him to demonstrate?"

Feeling his energy it hit me, HE was the energy I sought, I just hope that what I felt was all he had otherwise I would be in trouble. "Bring it!" I stated defiantly.

"You know Pektar's blood line was truly pathetic, his son running off only after he came back from stopping the conquest of a class b planet. At least I know what became of him, even then it isn't much of an excuse for a saiyan."

My anger was beginning to rise; he was so cocky for his ability. I could only imagine that his son did all the fighting for him. Brolly began to power up, a light green aura formed around him as he gathered his strength from within. Then to my surprise his hair, it changed going from the regular black to golden; that was were his power came from he was a super saiyan. But then something different happened, as his form bulked up and his size grew immensely towering above me. From there his energy spiked right up catching me off guard. Catching on I too powered up to my super saiyan 2 form, I still had energy to push myself again but I was unsure if I would transform or not. I decided to hold off a bit until I knew his true strength.

"My, my you are strong, but something tells me that my boy Brolly still has the edge," the man coaxed staying high above us while Brolly descended to the ground where I was standing.

"Lets do this,"

"Yes," was Brolly's reply.
