Chapter 3: Beginning the Road to Greatness

Being two months after the incident, life without Ashlyn would be hard, I knew that for sure but I had to find a way to cope. So I sought refuge in my training, pushing myself harder and harder looking to forget what had happened. Since the attack I was changed I had become shorter tempered and easily annoyed, my father noticed this and decided to give me room and allow me time to sort things out. Things were changing now and the saiyan race had found our little secluded home, first they sent Radditz who was Kakarrot's brother until Piccolo and he finished him off, sadly taking Kakarrot with him. I soon knew that Prince Vegeta and others would arrive to take the planet from us, with that news I decided it would be best to stay off planet for a while and train in the solitude of space. Arranging a visit with a Dr. Briefs we struck a deal for me to test his equipment under my harsh training conditions that way there would be no cost to me. My father and mother were a bit hesitant to let me leave like this but I reassured them that I would only be gone a few months, if I could get enough supplies I would go for longer.

I left about one month after the plan date receiving all my supplies and mission orders for the equipment I was carrying. The large ship carried me out of the atmosphere of the earth and beyond as I cruised farther and farther into space moving just beyond the speed of light. From here is where I would begin my training routine, a simple array of exercises that would allow me to build up my strength and physical endurance. I would be able to test the equipment using the gravity generator and simply record the findings for Dr. Brief.

. . .

So far I have been cruising up here for about five or six months, I have noticed significant gains in my energy from when I left Earth. All the equipment that I had brought with me is now… well… broken. Not quite all of it was affected by the gravity in the ship; a lot of it was affected by my training. Not needing what I had, I sent the reports back to Earth then discarded all the junk into space. Before too long I was out of the solar system and cruising about in the search of other planets, father had told me were planet Vegeta once was and I ended up heading in that direction. Along that route I felt strong energy signatures and knew that there must be remnants of saiyan blood still in the universe, barely holding on to its significance. I was approaching a planet not too far from the crimson star of Sadar, a small one compared to Earth but very lush and fertile from the readings on the scanners. Cleaning myself up I prepped the ship for reentry and strapped myself in the captain's seat. Sensors on the hull of the ship told me that the atmosphere of the planet was incredibly close to Earth's but far more dense, which didn't make sense because a planet of this size should have a thinner atmosphere and less surface gravity. While I fell, it began to heat up incredibly as my decent jarred my stomach a bit. Finally setting the landing boosters I brought the ship to a stop while the computer cooled the internal systems down from reentry. Taking a final reading on the air of the planet, it was suitable to breathe so I gathered a few things and headed out from my sturdy ship.

The environment was vast and beautiful, having rolling hills and deep valleys for as far as the eye could see, trees were everywhere as I vaulted into the air for the scenic tour. A moderate amount of energy flowed from the planet allowing me to feel comfortable, more at home. I allowed my tail to extend out from around my waist for it was getting a bit of a cramp from being coiled up for nearly a week. My tail fluttered in the air as I blasted low near the tops of the trees following several energy signatures hoping to find some sort of people here. Cruising over a low hill I stumbled upon a small village, wooden houses and stone fences reminded me of pictures of some placed in Europe where they used what they had. I landed swiftly and proceeded into to the village for a better look. It was fairly quiet with a small number of people out doing their daily things. The people here were small in stature only about four feet tall, their skin was a light red which I could tell got darker with age. They had slim cut eyes with well-rounded faces but no hair to speak of. Before too long I had gathered the attention of a few who became scared and ran off, others spoke among themselves in a fast language. It was like Japanese to English, faster as more direct, pronunciation was stressed. Slowly I let my tail sway back and fourth to keep my balance right and very precise, and elderly man soon caught my eye. Soon enough he looked my way and must have noticed my tail, for he started screaming at the top of his lungs SAIYAN, SAIYAN!!! That was the one word I did understand, as the streets cleared I found that same man hadn't moved, he looked at me and began looking me over as if he were eyeing up an opponent. Finally he spoke a language I knew.

"You are saiyan are you not?" he spoke cautiously checking me over.

"Yes I am, but I haven't come here to hurt you. What do you know of them?"

"Oh crap, now I got them scared. But now that I look at him I see that he is different than the others before him, maybe they have changed as well" he spoke obviously to himself.

"Excuse me, which saiyans were here before myself?" I asked the elder man.

"Only two others, one named Bardock and another named Pektar," he spoke. "One brought destruction, while the other brought peace. Bardock was the first to come, he was deadly but while I watched I could see it hurt his heart to do all of this, leaving him with many dark holes in his heart for he was fighting for an unwanted king. Years later came Pektar he was one of the few that knew our pain and took pity on us, living here for many years to teach us their languages and many customs in hopes that we could understand the fragments of their shattered existence".

"Wow, how could you tell I'm different?"

"It is your eyes young saiyan, you are well balanced. Both in love and in battle, you can at times think that how you feel is a curse in that being so sympathetic can do you harm in battle. But when it comes down to it your sympathy has guided you along in search for that higher understanding all your present life," he explained.

Taking a seat on the ground I had to ask him, "I know of Bardock but who is this Pektar?"

"He was, like you, a balanced being, for teaching us we allowed him to live on our planet and guide us to develop our culture. He brought his mate and they had a son who they named Zarrick few years after he had arrived. His empire was beginning to impede on his life here so he fled back and turned them away from our home taking his son and mate back with him," he explained looking me in the eye.

I was dumbfounded by this Zarick was my father that meant that Pektar was my grandfather. "That's incredible for Zarick is my father, I couldn't have know he could have been born here".

"I know you are of his blood, for Pektar and yourself couldn't be told apart. Yes aside from your hair you two are the same through and through," he told me.

"That's incredible, what is the name of this planet?"

"We are the Nakoo, as you can see our small frames make not for fighters but we have been able to work around it,"

"It's really hard to believe that my father was born on this planet, it's so far from Earth but yet so similar,"

"Ah yes, the planet known as Earth. We have heard many things about your planet. Pektar mentioned Bardock's son was going there for a saiyan domination mission, has he made it there?"

"Yes he has, but his memory was wiped clean when he had a bad case of amnesia as a child. His Earth name is Goku but there are a few of us that still call him Kakarrot,"

"That's good to hear, has he tried to take over the planet yet?"

"No, like I said about his memory being wiped it took all of the orders with it. I just left before the other saiyans showed up. Radditz his brother has already come forward and has been killed by Kakarrot and Piccolo the Namek,"

"Why did you leave young saiyan you could have helped Kakarrot?"

"No, I have far surpassed them in power. I have already found the key to becoming a super saiyan, the others on earth have come nowhere near that mark. I want to be left alone so I've suppressed my power to a dismal 30000 so I would seem powerful but not to the point that I could be a threat. If Lord Frieza were to find me I would surely be hunted and I need not have that pressure on me right now, besides I have faith in the ones on Earth. They are quite strong they will be able to handle a couple saiyan elites,"

"Your tactics seem harsh but I can see some reason in them,"

"Thank you, Kakarrot knows I'm strong but he's willing to keep his mouth shut to keep the planet safe," I explained to him. "I have to ask you something, it is about this planet. The gravity and atmosphere here are denser than Earth's but your planet size is smaller how is that possible?"

"The saiyans that were here had wondered that themselves but we were not able to give them an answer for we know not ourselves. It must be a hiccup in the universe or something but the saiyan scientists couldn't even figure it out themselves, so don't worry about it and use it to your advantage," the elder told me.

Leaving the street we went our ways and the people came back realizing that I was no longer a threat to them or their planet. Soon I dealt with a few who gave me supplies in return of favors around as far as lifting, clearing, and land work. Restocking the ship I was also given an improved armor and equipment by some of the women who were there, I found it remarkably comfortable and equally durable. I left Nakoo with smiles and waves from the people and moved onward in a blaze of light for another solar system. I hoped to find a better place to train than this cramped ship.
