She brushed her long lavender hair out of her eyes and and raised a hand to her eyebrows to sheild her eyes from the harsh midday sun. The sun shone brightly, with not the slightest chance of showers and no clouds in sight. It was time to start a new life, free of the old constraints.

And here was the place she had chose to do it. Good old Toshi no Hoshi (A/N: Star City/City of Stars/et cetera) It was well away from her old home and life, but not far enough away that she was stranded forever here. It was nothing special, but then again, it was better than most. It was better than what she use to call home.

She had lost everything she had held dear for all of her seventeen years. Her home, her family, her friends, and the man she loved. But none of it mattered to her now. It was all water off a ducks back... easy to shrug off in other words. She couldn't say she missed it at all. Not the fights, or the pain, or the responsibility. She liked her new life and had in return, cast aside all reminders of her sordid past.

So she had chosen a new name, let her hair grow out, let the hair dye fade, and took her colored contacts out. A new beginning for her were she could be what she wanted to be, do what she wanted to do, with no one to tell her yea or nay.

She wondered idly how long this would last, this feeling of independence and freedom. How long would it last, this fleeting moment of something akin to happiness, but not quite. It was as if she felt nothing. No pain, no hurt.... but she didn't feel bliss, or happiness either. It had been awhile since she had allowed herself to feel anything, afraid to get hurt.

She turned her head, as a loud crash interrupted her depressing thoughts and distracted her. It resounded threw the small alley way in which she stood, threatening to shatter her sensitive Saiyajin ears. She covered them quickly, trying to block out the sound waves, which vibrated so thickly in the air she could see them, and prayed that the awful sound would soon cease.

No one else seemed to hear the awful high pitched sound but her. She fought not to keel over, but soon gave in and doubled over in pain. She heard whispers and speculations as those around her stared in surprise at the young lady on her knees in the middle of the sidewalk with tears streaming down pale cheeks.

She needed to go home. That was all she knew. She need the warmth and comfort of familiar surroundings, she needed to be with her family. So she packed her bags the next day and left for home.

Three Days Before....

She was garbed in dark blue denim coveralls and a simple white tee-shirt as she slowly turned around, taking in the pristine white color of her walls that almost blinded her in its intensity. But despite it's apparent cleanliness, this place seemed dirty and grungy. She hadn't ever thought that she would see this place again after she left with Solan so long ago.

Her nose wrinkled in obvious distaste as she thought of Solan. That asshole. When she had first met him, he had seemed so innocent and kind. And she had been even happier when she found out that Solan wasn't human either. He was from a planet called Gojunin-sei about three million marks away from the location of the former planet of Vejiita-sei, so they were closely related. So he was a Gojuniniru-jin. (A/N: gojuninru means- "they are fifty strong" in Japanese.)

When they first started seeing each other, he had been the perfect gentleman. Kind, caring and attentive to her each and every need. He had been an ideal man of which all women someday dream of getting married to. But that wasn't the true him. But as soon as the honeymoon was over, he had shown his true colors and that was when all her troubles had begun.

It had started out with the little things, subtle criticism of everything she did that he didn't approve of. She had changed her clothes, her makeup, her hairstyle, her friends, and even little things like her toothpaste brand and her nail polish color and brand. Until she no longer recognized who she was when she looked at herself. It was like looking at a stranger everyday when she happened to glance in the mirror.

She no longer was the innocent naive young girl she had been when she first arrived in Hoshi no Toshi. Even the situation back at home hadn't managed to break her spirit or her naive belief in the inherent goodness of all people. But Solan had been able to do it within a year.

Next it switched from subtle criticism to outright cruelty and loud yelling. In all her life, no one had ever yelled at her. Not her mother, or father, or even brother had truly ever yelled at her. But Solan had, and he had taken pleasure in her obvious absolute terror when he yelled at her even slightly. She didn't quite understand how to react to him when he yelled at her since she had never been yelled at before, and as you well know, people fear the unknown.

So she cried unceasingly in absolute terror whenever he yelled at her and meekly obeyed his every word. But even this form of unmitigated punishment did not last long and quickly escalated to slaps here and there whenever he was annoyed with her.

He being a Gojuniniru-jin, was just as strong as her, if not stronger. So every time he struck her, she had to heavily apply cover up to hide the fierce red or purple and black from the eyes of others. She became an expert at applying cover up so it didn't look like she had any on.

Even the friends he had picked for her began to become concerned if they accidentally stumbled upon the marks. They urged her to leave him, but she just couldn't. Even after all he had done this to her, she had still loved him. She hadn't think he truly meant to harm her, she just made him so angry that he had to do it. She had thought that she deserved it for some reason, that it was all her fault.

Finally it came to the fourth and final stage of out right abuse. He struck her, kicked her, punched her until she was black and blue everywhere, until she could barely move because it pained her to even move a finger. But her housekeeper, a kindly plump old lady had found her and had two other stronger servants helped her carry Leigh to her bedroom, and she nursed Leigh back to health.

Then it got even worse and he beat her up so bad that he broke one of her arms. It had been a painful event that she had never experienced in her entire lifetime, and could have gone a lifetime without ever having experienced it. She was bleeding profusely, and her left eye was almost dislocated from it's socket. It just hung there in a sickening fashion, and big gouge of skin was missing from her left thigh as well.

He had finally stopped just short of killing her and had laughed sadistically, before leaving her to die on the bedroom floor, in the place she had fell. She laid there for what seemed like many hours, but it might have actually been only two or three, before once again her loyal housekeeper saved her when she returned from the grocery store and called nine-one-one.

She had been rushed immediately to the emergency room for immediate surgery to try and save her eye. After six hours of long, and painful surgery, they managed to reattach her eye correctly, and upon the request of her 'worried' husband, sent for a plastic surgeon to repair the outer tissue to it's previous state. And the plastic surgeon worked a miracle and it looked even better than it had before.

The plastic surgeon also patched up and repaired her thigh as well, removing excess muscle and collagen from any place on her body could spare it. Then he took the excess muscle and sealed the donar area, artificially knitted it together with the damaged muscle already there. Then he took the collagen and injected it wherever there were patches that needed to be filled. (A/N: I have no idea if this is possible, and I don't feel like looking it up, so just play along and pretend that it is.)

She was then moved to the intensive care unit where she made an astonishing recovery. (A/N: Remember that in this fic Saiya-jin have healing abilities that speed up the recovery time...) The doctors and nurses where shocked by her short healing time, and would have detained her longer if Solan had not checked her out of the hospital the day after she had recovered fully.

The incident was recorded in the hospital records as an assault attack from a surprised burglar who had not expected her to be home. Leigh too frightened by the whole hospital experience, had been too much in shock to contest it because it happened so quickly. And she returned home as if nothing had ever happened to her.

He was kind and attentive for awhile, just like he had been when she had first met him so long ago in Hoshi no Toshi. But it didn't last for very long and he just went back to his cruel abusive ways. This went on for another long, pain ridden year before Leigh finally got the nerve up, and ran away from him with the help of one of her old friends she had called up.

Looking back she had no idea how on earth she had mustered the courage to leave Solan at all. She had loved him so much and hadn't thought that she'd ever stop loving him.

~*Author's Notes*~

Okay, this is just been edited into two chapters, where as before, the first chapter was one chapter instead of chapter one and two, which it is now. So thank you for your time, please review! Even if it is just to say that you read it! Like I said in my other fic, if you just said three simple words in your review, I would be happy. "I read it," is all you have to say to make me a little happy.
