And time kept its inevitable course as Fhaza buried her emotions in the deepest recesses of her soul. Not once did she give any indication of how she felt. Of the loneliness that plagued her senses. She would just block them from her mind trying to achieve a modicum of peace. Vegeta's decision to ignore his feelings became harder to adhere to, but like Fhazha, he didn't give any indication of the turbulent emotions that raged in his heart.

He felt torn in two directions. On one side was Bulma, his mate of many years, loyal and constant amid the callous way he treated her and the adversities they had both faced; and on the other stood Fhazha, pre-destined to be his, sharing his Saiyan passion, strong and brave like no other. Bulma stirred in him gentle emotions always there for him, undemanding and patient. Comforting him in the hardest moments of his life, but on the other hand was Fhazha, his equal in every possible way, stirring tempestuous feelings that burned him with their intensity. Their Saiyan nature was demanding the fulfillment of their desires and their destiny. A nature that was becoming harder and harder to ignore. Yet neither of them gave any hint of how they really felt. They hid their feelings so well that neither could tap into the other. It was as if there had never been a bond, as if they had both imagined it that night when Vegeta had made love to Bulma, for now they acted like two acquaintances that only shared pleasantries whenever courtesy required it.

Fhazha's demeanor toward Vegeta remained respectful but distanced something that exasperated him terribly. He would have given anything to have the little outspoken brat that had spent hours talking with him when they had been children. Then, she used to share with him her enthusiasms, her curiosities and dreams. They had been so close back then, that he couldn't believe she was the same brat he used to call his rainbow head. Yet it was better that way, her coldness was for the best, for he wasn't sure had she been willing, if he would have been able to resist her sweet allure.

She spent almost all of her time tutoring the children and Vegeta wasn't blind to her devotion for them. Sometimes he would even consider her
Over-protectiveness a little over the edge, for it seemed as if she needed to be in constant vigil, insisting on knowing their whereabouts all the time, always mindful of their safety. Sometimes he felt a peculiar urgency within her, yet he couldn't quite tap into it and just as quickly the feeling would disappear. She had become an enigma and he felt frustrated over the realization.

Fhazha immersed herself in the education of Gohan and the chibis. She was delighted to find that Gohan was a bright young Saiyan with a polished mind that was capable of processing everything she threw at him. He was far advanced even for Saiyan Standards and it wasn't long before she was having discussions of abstract nature where they both compared their own perspectives. Her chibi prince, as was her pet name for Trunks, turned out to be a sponge that absorbed anything she could teach him about his saiyan heritage, fully embracing it and feeling acute pride of his ancestry. He was adamant to become everything his Father wanted him to be and far more. Always with the insatiable desire to make Vegeta proud of him. While Goten, well, Goten was a whole different story. He was a hyperactive little thing with poor attention span and an unquenchable appetite with a knock for mischievousness that often got him in trouble with Fhazha. She had to come up with a unique technique to keep him interested in his lessons, often time combining their studies with embellished stories of bloody battles and Ancient Saiyan warriors. They didn't have to know she was making them up as she went along.

At first, they had been quite fascinated with her ship Odyssey, not really believing that a ship could actually talk and think for itself. Fhazha had explained to them that in her long journey she had felt very lonely, and had re-programmed the ship's computer adding a personality trait, so at least, she could have someone to talk to. She had never expected to do such a good job, and had been delighted when the ship started manifesting a very emotional personality. The loneliness that had filled her days had eased dramatically with Odyssey's new implementations and she had learned to love it, a feeling that unbelievably enough the ship reciprocated. The children soon got accustomed to Odyssey's presence and the ship in turn was very fond of them. Fhazha learned to love them deeply, appreciating each of their unique traits. She loved Gohan's sweetness, Trunks's young pride and Goten's mischievous strike and the one thing they all shared, their strength and power that at their age was very impressive and unique. For half-breeds they were magnificent, doing more than justice to their warrior blood, far stronger than any full-blooded Saiyan she had ever known.

At the beginning she had tried to integrate Goku in their little circle of learning since he was just as ignorant of his heritage as the chibis and Gohan were; but well, Fhazha soon realized the futility of it whenever she was interrupted by Goku's snores. Some things, she had thought shaking her head, were just not meant to be and had finally given up on him excusing him from their study time. It soon became a routine, spending her mornings in the training room or sparring with Goku and her afternoons tutoring the chibis. A special bond had formed among the four of them, so deep that soon they were able to communicate with each other in a telepathic level. Fhazha felt content to be at their side and to know them safe.

Her friendship with Goku had deepened as well. They would spend a lot of time together, treating each other as siblings would, often sparring physically and verbally good naturedly. Something that made Vegeta grit his teeth whenever he happened to be there, which lately was rare because they were both avoiding each other like the plague.

Fhazha was somewhat adopted in the Son House, for Chi Chi had taken an instant like to her. It probably had to do with the fact that Fhazha made her children study, for Chi Chi was obsessed with her sons' education, and she had thought Goten a lost case until Fhazha had come along. The change in her little boy had been dramatic. And so she was constantly invited to their home. Many nights she spent pleasant evenings with them at dinnertime, basking in the attention they constantly gave her and the love that permeated their home. They truly made her feel like part of the family, something she had never experienced before. In the time she spent at the Son house, Fhazha had the opportunity to get better acquainted with Piccolo, since he spent most of his time there as well. She soon found out his history with Gohan, and how in fact he had been his teacher. Their relationship so special that they had bonded in the same manner she had bonded with them.

Piccolo turned out to be quite fascinating to Fhazha, possessing an intelligence that many times surpassed her own, and a sense of perception that was superior to anything she had ever experienced before. She felt like a little girl, mesmerized by the many stories he shared with her, and many nights, Piccolo, Goku and Fhazha would spend their evenings in deep stimulating discussions with Goku as a non participant of course, since he was content to just listen to them. This had become her life, and Fhazha had decided to make the best of it. She had purposely shoved all her feelings for Vegeta to the back of her mind. Doing her best to ignore them, even if sometimes she felt herself explode with the strain it caused, but at least she had fulfilled part of her destiny and the most important part of all, the Saiyans had survived.

As time passed by, any fears lurking in her heart had been put to rest. And Fhazha felt content to see her chibis growing strong. She had been able to keep the promise she had made to herself and to Vegeta, for their past was never mentioned again.

"Hey! Ready for another round are you? Are you sure? Last time I saw you, you weren't in such good shape!"

"I'll show you Good shape!" Fhazha playfully locked Goku's arm behind his back with the latter squealing in feigned pain"

"Ok guys, food is ready!" called Chi Chi...

"Alright!" Goku almost knocked Fhazha down as he hurried to get his load of sustenance...

Laughing at his silliness Fhazha went after him and was about to sit down at the table when she let out a gasp doubling over in pain.

"Fhazha!" Goku immediately went up to her worried at what was happening
"What's wrong?" "Are you ill" "where does it hurt?"

Short of breath Fhazha tried to answer him, but found she couldn't. The intensity of it was overwhelming, it was searing her innards, the pain that it caused was consuming, as if every single of her organ was being ripped from her body, and just as it suddenly came, the pain was gone.
She didn't understand what had happened, the pain had been unbearable yet there was no explanation for it.

"I'm..I'm ok Kakarrot" she said between breaths, she was afraid that the pain would resume, but it didn't.
Smiling she told them not to worry, that she would check herself out once she returned to her ship. Merriment filled the air again as they happily ate in familial communion, yet Fhazha couldn't get rid of the sense of foreboding that had taken root at her soul.
