Chapter 2 - Family Ties?
"Lord Fureiza? Why were you so accomodating to that Chikyuu whore?" Dodoria growled. He trusted his Lord but sometimes doubted the decisions he made.
"Dodoria, if you used your brain you would be a much better warrior. Did you not notice anything worthy about her?" he turned and looked upon his faithful servant, and picked up his refilled glass of wine.
"Worthy? She spoke out of turn, was rude and I did not find her attractive. Maybe a Saiya-jin would, but not me" Dodoria crossed his arms and stood with a scowl. Fureiza smirked and looked to the wallet sitting on the table next to him. He raised his finger and the wallet elevated and he let it drop into Dodorias hand.
"Funny you should meantion Saiya-jins. Look at the picture inside. See the small dark haired child. Does he look familiar?" Fureiza looked in interest at Dodoria as his expression turned from annoyance to clarification. "It cannot be" Dodoria exclaimed and turned to Fureiza for comfirmation.
"I believe that child to be the son of Bardock. Do you not see the resemblance? I do not recall the name, but if that wasn't proof enough for you, did you see the bracelet? She wore a Saiya-jin bracelet" Fureiza leant back smugly and gave Dodoria a superior smile.
"She was the wife of Bardocks son? She might be useful in asking about Saiya-jin weaknesses and I'm sure Vegeta, Nappa, Tarrock and Raditzu, the last remaining Saiya-jins will be thrilled to know about this addition to the Saiya-jin race. And now Raditzu has a sister-in-law. Its perfect!" Dodoria grinned and tossed the wallet back on the table.
"Indeed. As well as designing us highly technical equipment and becoming a useful ally, she will be useful Saiya-jin blackmail. Also, did you see that child of Bardocks? Looked weaker than the girl. He will be no threat, despite being a last remainder we thought was lost of the Saiya-jin race, so we can leave Chikyuu. Excellent" Fureiza stood and looked out the window. Zarbon returned and looked excited. He had overheard with his supreme hearing and stood on the other side of Fureiza and the 3 of them looked out the window at the planets that sped by.
Bulma looked at the door to her new home. It was a dull gray and had a symbol on it, she presumed it was the number 3 in whatever that creatures native language was. She studied it closer so she would remember it, and looked around, since all the corridors had looked that same, she hoped she didn't get lost so easily. She opened the door as Zarbon silently walked off, not giving her a second glance. She found him kind of cute, but had no doubt he was as evil as they come. The room had a bed in, wider than it was long, or at least appeared that way. There was a small cabinet with some draws in, and when she peeked there was some armour and ripped cloth. There was a small door which lead to a bath and toilet but no sink. There was a desk in the room, which she presumed would be her new work station. She noticed she also had a window, she peered out and saw nothing but darkness. She was truly alone and lost in the universe without her friends and with terrible monsters. She sat on the bed with a thunk and rested her chin on her arms. She felt like crying.
"No Bulma, that wouldn't achieve anything, apart from the others calling you weak. Be brave. Think, what would Goku do? Or Yamcha? Or even that fool Roshi. I'd rather be with him than here! And thats saying something!" she started to giggle hyserically, it wasn't funny but her emotions were a little rollercoastal. She felt the urge to look at her picture, and realised her bag was still with Fureiza. "Well, I have to face him sometime. This way I get my bag back before that fat pink thing eats it. What was his name again? Dodory? Doddery? Doddiria? Dodoria! That was it. Ok Bulma, lets go!" she stood up with resolve and pulled open the door and was struck by a wierd force. She crumpled to her knees. It felt like the gravity had increased, and the pressure was hurting her head. "Whats going on? Oh I understand. This must be the gravity on their planet. I hope I get used to it soon" she panted and crawled a little on her hands. Finally, she managed to stand and walk awkwardly to the main room with the big window. She walked in the direction she best remembered, and soon found the room. It had Fureiza, Dodoria and Zarbon in, it also had some others in dark blue, black and white armour. They all turned when she staggered into the room. The ones in armour exchanged glances and looked hungrily at her.
"Lord Fureiza?" she said politely and bowed her head. She hated sucking up to this loathsome creature, but she figured in the long run it would be much simpler.
"What?" he snapped, glaring at her. He seemed annoyed, but more at the ones in armour than at her. She was silent, plotting her next move, and observing some of the warriors inching nearer her.
"You came for your belongings, I suppose?" he tossed her the bag, which had been repacked. He had even replaced the picture, for he knew that she was the only evidence he needed.
"Thank you, Lord Fureiza" she smiled and grasped at her bag. Thankful she had caught it so she wouldn't look foolish. One of the warriors looked down at her oddly, before a look a realisation crossed his green features and he stepped back from her.
"That is the mark of Bardock! She is a Saiya-jin?!" the creature howled and pointed at her bracelet. Bulma recoiled instinctively and looked up at him frightened.
"No chance. Look at her physique, no Saiya-jin female would be so frail. Her hair isn't dark either, its an oddly enthralling blue-green. Like the colour of the eyes of the legendary Super Saiya-jin. How she comes to bear that bracelet I shudder to think." a hulking, bald man snapped at the green warrior. She noticed he had a thick brown tail wrapped around his waist, much like Goku's. She was about to ask about it, before she remembered where she was and backed up against the wall.
"You're right, Nappa. She is no Saiya-jin. However, I do believe that bracelet to be genuine." Fureiza smiled, the carelessness of the warriors on their last mission now seeming less annoying, he was far enjoying this situation.
Nappa looked at disgust at Bulma, who scowled back. She didn't like being spoken of when she was in the room, and it would be more polite to her ask themselves. She clutched her bag and looked at the warriors. There was 5 in total, but all looking ferocious and much bigger than her, even when they were kneeling before Fureiza. There was the green creature who had spoken first, he had a blue scouter. There was the one Fureiza had called Nappa, and Bulma had worked out was a so-called Saiya-jin from the way he had spoken of them. Since he had a tail much like Goku's, she presumed he was a Saiya-jin too. All those years he had thought he just had a tail, oblivious he was really a child of a warrior race. She wondered who Bardock was, and how he was connected to the bracelet Goku had given her. There was a red monster, who held a weapon of some sort. The other two were twins, or at least very similar, they were a sickly orange with large welts on their arms and legs.
"Raditzu? This whore is married to Raditzu? He is the only brat of Bardocks left. Raditzu is a warrior, he would not look twice at such a creature" Nappa peered at her, and fiddled with his scouter. "Pathetic, she rates a mere 52". Fureiza furrowed his brow and looked thoughtful. When he had measured the girl he had rated her a 46. She had grown a margin stronger in that short time. He looked at her, and saw she was struggling with the gravity. He felt a tinge of admiration for her. She was brave.
"What was the name of Raditzu's brother?" Fureiza growled at Nappa, he was impatient to know the name of the brat she wore the symbol of.
"He had two. Bracken, you remember died not too long ago in the battle on Laslia-sei, now Fureiza 59. He was brave and respected, determind to undo his fathers insolence. Kakarott was sent away by Bardock as an infant. He should have conquered his planet by now...unless he was busy with the locals" here Nappa shot Bulma a dark look and turned back to Fureiza. "You believe her to be his mate?" Nappa paused and grabbed Bulma by the arm and pushed her onto the floor, she landed heavily, the gravity not helping. She winced and grunted as she tried to stand up. Nappa placed his foot on her stomach and smacked her face. He looked intently at her neck, then slapped her face the other way as he inspected the other side of her neck. "Well, its not true. She is not marked as his. There is no scar" Nappa kicked her, and she smacked into the wall and she tasted blood. She was under the gravity pressure and hurting very badly, she felt almost dead.
"Scar?" asked Dodoria, stepping up to Nappa, who took a step backwards. Bulma just lay there, breathing heavily, but still listening.
"When Saiya-jins mate, during the first mating ritual the male bites the neck of the female to mark him as his own. This way only females can have one mate as it's disgusting to have a previously scarred female. The male will not be bitten unless it is his will only to have one mate also. This is almost the concept of love, and as you can imagine happens next to never. In fact there is only one recorded incident of a male being bitten, and that was Razorle. And we all know what became of him. Weakest fighter ever, but wasn't that obvious? Love is weakness, it is compassion and devotion. Things that won't help you in battle. This whore must have either seduced Kakarott or killed him." Nappa looked angrily at her broken body.
Furieza smiled in memory of the picture of the ridiculous child. He saw that she was older than him, and in the picture another man seemed to hold her affections so he doubted she had been involved with Kakarott in any mating rituals. He also doubted that Kakarott was doing his job of destroying the planet, or he was doing so with his inane grin. Fureiza felt ill at the notion of that smile, so genuine and lacking of suffering.
"Nappa, she wears the bond. What do you say of that? Like it or not, that is a sign she is a wife of a Saiya-jin, if my memory serves me correctly." Dodoria said harshly, he hated all Saiya-jins, for they were wild and too dangerous. He was glad that they were weak willed and under the reign of Fureiza. He was also glad that most of their race had been destroyed, including their King who had tried to fight back. They were fun while they lasted, but they had to accept that the Saiya-jin line was over. Dodoria smirked and looked superiorly at Nappa.
"Excuse me" a voice said, a little husky and angry sounding. They all turned to see Bulma had stood up and was leaning against the wall. Blood dripped from her split lip on to her shirt that read 'Capsule Corp.'. "I do not know what a Saiya-jin is, nor who Kakarott is. So please, who is he and what does he have to do with the bracelet Goku gave me?" she refused to believe that Goku belonged to the race of these horrible people, despite it being obvious.
"Who is Goku?" Zarbon asked, and they all looked at her, curious, impatient and angry. Fureiza just looked amused.
"That 'bracelet' is a identity band worn by those who were sent away from Planet Vegeta. So they could know their names. I presume Kakarott could not read as he seems to be the Goku you refer to. That band means you are his mate, I presume. But the lack of scars says otherwise. Are you his mate, or not?" Nappa asked sharply. His patience was running short, and he did not understand her purpose to Furieza or why he allowed her to live. The world as he knew it was falling, and his people were gone.
"No. I am not the 'mate' of Goku or Kakarott. Though, if he is a Saiya-jin, I have nothing but respect for that race for he is one of the bravest, strongest and-" she paused as she thought for a good word to make him sound favourable to Nappa. She hated sucking up, but it was what she had to do to survive. "-talented at martial arts...people...person...I ever knew." she then took her bag, bowed and limped from the room with as much speed and dignity as she could muster. She was suprised to find herself back in her room, she could not recall walking there, she was too busy thinking. She sat on her bed, and this time she could not hold back the tears.
Back in the main room, Fureiza sat back down on his chair, almost disappointed that this news of her had come out so soon and it was not as powerful as he had expected. Still, he intended to keep her for technology, she was talented albeit not mated with a Saiya-jin.
"Now, where were we? Oh yes. The planet take over should have taken a matter of hours, especially when I send so many of you. And how long did it take? 2 days! That is not acceptable, you bastards! That planet was supposed to be ready for sale to the Hared-jins days ago, and their alliance was dependable on that. The delay meant we had to send warriors in to stop them uprising and we had casulties of important warriors. This is your fault and I shall hold you each personally responsible." he glared at them with intense hatred.
"But Lord Fureiza! They were stronger, and they were ready for us and-" the orange twins gabbled, trying to make it right.
"Quiet!" roared Fureiza and sent a tight ball of blue energy from his finger into them, where they imploded and the remainders were splattered with their entrails.
"Any of you little shits want to continue where they stopped?....No? Good. Get out of my sight." he poured himself another glass of wine and glanced out the window. "Apart from you, Nappa". Nappa stopped in the doorway and turned around and bowed to Fureiza once again.
"Today, and the arrival of that girl, has made me think more about the Saiya-jins. What are the power levels of yourself and the others now?" Fureiza asked the tall Saiya-jin, his eyes taking in the excess of muscle.
"All in the 20-thousands. Vegeta is the strongest. Raditzu and Tarrock are the weaker ones. I have no idea of the reading of Kakarott. Forgive me, my Lord, but the girl? Why do you let her stay? And what is she? Her form looks so different from that of a Saiya-jin female. Especially her chest area, more prominent." Nappa stood and looked up at Fureiza.
"She is very clever. The new technology and inventions leader. She is human, from Chikyuu. Are you attracted to her?" Fureiza grinned and swilled his wine. He would like to have some more mind games for the Saiya-jins. He had enjoyed telling Raditzu that he had killed his father and Raditzu's mixed looked of sadness and approval. He had enjoyed putting Nappa in isolated training, and humilating him. He smiled at the memory of Tarrock having to kill his best friends and partners. However, most of all he had enjoyed killing old King Vegeta then making Vegeta follow his every command, even though by rights Vegeta should have been King. But no, there was no planet for him to rule over, no subjects to command and no dignity left after being a mere warrior for the great Lord Fureiza.
"Hell no! She is too dainty. Did you see how easily she crumpled? I prefer larger and Saiya-jin females." Nappa snarled. He thought she looked like a twig, although he could see she may be attractive if she had darker hair and muscles. But he had no time to think of such things. He knew he had to suck up to Fureiza now, even thought he detested that, but it was the only way to get back into his good books, as it were.
"I thought as much" Fureiza smirked and waved him away with a flick of the hand. "Oh, Nappa? Take the scouter of the Twin Puy-reis to room 3. For the dainty women. She needs to see our greatest technological feat. Now." he pointed to the 2 fallen scouters next to a pile of still smoking flesh bits.
Nappa obligued and stomped, yet politely, from the main room. He could not wait to tell Vegeta about this woman who had connections to the Saiya-jins. He found comfort in the image of Vegeta tearing her apart for isolence of association.
He paused at her door. He was used to just opening doors by pushing them down or waiting for Fureiza to command him enter. He didn't want to have to ask this girl for permission but feared what Fureiza would say if a door was destroyed on his ship, by a Saiya-jin. He decided he would just open the door and fling the scouters at her. He opened the door abruptly, and Bulma gave a small squeak of shock.
"Nappa! What do you want?" she quivered. He sneered at her show of fear, but at least she was smart enough to fear her. He tossed the scouters on the bed, and turned to leave the room.
"Wait! Nappa! Can I ask you something, please?" she asked, moving forward to grasp his armt to make him stay. He stopped and turned quickly, glaring at her.
"No. I should just kill you. Why Fureiza keeps you here I will never know. Now, I must leave. I'll probably never see you again, you bitch. Either Fureiza will kill you for being useless or rude, or one of the warriors will drag you to the whoring room where you belong. I doubt you'd last longer than 2 hours in there" he turned to leave again.
Bulma stood in shocked silence. She hated him. He was so nasty and rude to her, how dare he! She was Bulma Briefs of Capsule Corporation and he was a mere soldier of Fureiza.
"Baka. How do you feel knowing your race is over?" she retorted and slammed the door behind him. Nappa turned about to blast the door and hopefully shred the girl on the other side of it. "Not a good idea, Nappa" muttered Zarbon. Nappa turned and looked at the green creature standing with a haughty air behind him.
"Why is she allowed here? I don't see her offering this anything! What use does Fureiza see for her?" Nappa fumed, his tail lashing angrily behind him.
"She is a technical genius. Remember what happened to the last one? Dead. We need a new one and this one here can't exactly rebel. She can hardly walk in the gravity. She's only a child. She is no threat, but an asset. Get used to her, I expect she will be with us for awhile. Or at least before she screws up or catches Fureiza on a bad day." Zarbon shrugged and walked off.
