Chapter 18 - A Return
Days she sat, occassionally running back to her room to get food and water or go to the loo. It was mind numbingly boring and it hurt to sit on the hard floor for so long. After a few days, a pattern did emerge when the docking area had the least number of creatures in it, and while she was there she noted on how to set the co-ordinates and how to close it and every. She wondered if she shoudl stock up on food for the journey but soon learnt of the sleep that they put themselves under on long journeys. She didn't know how far from earth she was, would she need to do that?
'Maybe I shouldn't go straight home' she thought. 'If they follow me, I don't want to lead them to my family and friends! I could go to other planets first to ensure I'm not followed. She saw there was a large chart on the wall with a list of planets and their co-ordinates and a tick next to it, whether it had been conquered and sold or not.
She picked up her scouter and began to fiddle with it absentmindedly, and she suddenly saw the date on it. It was her birthday. She hadn't realised! So almost a year had passed. She had been taken a few weeks after her birthday, and here she was. A year older, but with no presents, cake or a party to show for it.
It was this thought that made her realise that she had to escape soon, very soon. If she didn't see her friends and family she would be beyond upset and she felt she was going mad on this ship alone. There was suddenly some commotion around her, as poeple ran towards the docking pods and she heard voices, loud and angry.
"Damn it. I never guessed we would be back so soon." Nappa said, and spat on the ground. Despite the loud voices, the force of his spit made a clunk on the metal floor.
"Well. Here we are. We had no choice. Unless you wanted to float in space for weeks, injured." Vegeta replied and pushed past those who had crowded and tried to assist him walking. He looked around and saw Bulma, staring at the floor, sitting in the corner. She looked much weaker although her strength had increased from the tell of his scouter, she looked pale and wan. She looked up at him and gave him a small smile. He didn't return it, and walked away to the first aid wing.
Bulma saw him march away, and although he had no smiled he had taken time to notice her. She felt like that should be her present.
