Chapter 25 - Vengeance Ascension

Vegeta tilted back her face and looked at her, her eyes were slightly parted and she was still warm. He held her inches from his face, no longer caring who knew because it was in that moment in which he realised that he loved her. Properly and unconditionally. He felt compelled to mark her as his own that very moment, but didn't because he wanted her consent first, how did he know she loved him as much as he loved her? He felt such an anger build up in him, and he stood up, letting her fall back and onto the ground that was filthy. He stood and faced Fureiza and let go of some of his anger in a yell that didn't vent half his anger. He felt it pulse in him, coming to overflow and then it did, he closed his eyes and clenched his muscles. When he opened his eyes, he saw the shocked a worried expressions of Fureiza, Dodoria and Zarbon and the reformed respect from Nappa and Raditzu.

"Prince Vegeta!" gasped the other two Saiya-jins as they fell to their knees. Vegeta felt ascended but still furious over the death of Bulma, he looked down at his hand and saw it surrounded by fiery gold energy, much unlike his usual aura of blue. He felt no longer tainted, and fuelled by a loss of love.

"Land the ship, lets finish this on a planet." he said stonily. Bulma's body lay crumpled in the corner, where it had landed after he had powered up. Fureiza nodded, looking interested at the turn of events and Zarbon ran off to give the orders. Vegeta just stared at Fureiza, who returned his look with equal hatred.

The ship took a turn and they all felt the pull or gravity and shuddering as the ship landed on the nearest planet, Vegeta extended his arm and sent a blast through the side of the ship and walked off.

"Prince Vegeta! Are you insane, now none of us can leave the planet, you broke the ship!" Nappa said, admiration tinging his outrage. Vegeta just tossed him an annoyed look.

"The pods still work. Besides, we are not leaving until Fureiza is dead." he replied. Nappa and Raditzu exchanged a look, and Raditzu asked him quietly;

"You really loved her didn't you." it wasn't a question. Vegeta said nothing, but Raditzu saw his eyes move to the ship where she still lay. This confirmed it in his mind. Fureiza walked out and his soilders surrounded them all, Fureiza just laughed and transformed to his next form, which was far taller and more imposing, but Vegeta did not flinch. Instead he powered up too and gathered a large final flash.

"That won't kill me you baka no nanju!" Fureiza mocked, but Vegeta just smirked and replied;

"I know" before sending the bright ball of energy to the warriors surrounding them, and they fell until only Zarbon and Dodoria remained with Fureiza and the 3 Saiya-jins.

"This is between the Saiya-jins and you, Fureiza." Vegeta said, throwing a pointed look at Zarbon and Dodoria.

"Really? I thought it was about avenging the woman you loved?" Fureiza said.

"I could never fully avenge her. But I can at least bring some honour to my people by destroying you. I am the legendary Super Saiya-Jin! Even you cannot defeat me, Fureiza." he glared.

Fureiza laughed to himself and took a step forward and launched into the fight, where they found themselves more or less equally matched. They rose of the ground and above the others, whereupon Fureiza sent a blow to Vegeta which sent him back to the ground with sickening speed. "I would have thought that you bring shame to your people by falling in love" he crowed, floating above where Fureiza had fallen.

"Without her death I would not have become a Super Saiya-Jin. She brings no shame to my people." he replied and rejoined the battle.
