Chapter 28 - I Miss Her
Krillin and Goku stood in front of the Capsule Corp. door, and Chichi, Gohan, Kamesennin, Oolong, Yamcha, Puar and Tienshihan with Choatzu stood behind them. Mrs. Briefs, Bulmas' mother opened the door.
"Goku, Krillin. It has been awhile, not since...just after..." her voice wavered, and Yamcha offered her a tissue, which he had brought guessing the scene that would unfold.
"Is your husband here?" Goku asked politely, and the rest of them nodded eagerly, wanting to bring back Bulma as soon as possible. They had no done it sooner because they could not find the Dragonballs, and she was alive when they first tried and she had told them not to do so, lest the evil ones follow and kill them all. This time, Goku and the others were determind to bring her back no matter what.
"Why didn't you stop her? or them?" wailed Mrs. Briefs, and Goku looked at Krillin uncomfortably.
"You know Bulma as well as any of us, there was no way we could stop her. As for them, they will pay for anything they have done, I can promise you that! I have been training so hard to pay her back!" Yamcha said hardly, his face setting in resolve.
The outburst silenced Mrs. Briefs, who looked at Yamcha with admiration and she smiled, and gushed around him saying how lucky her daughter was to have a boyfriend who was so brave and strong. Yamcha blushed, but looked pleased too.
Goku and his friends took Mrs. Briefs directions and followed them down to the Laboratory, where Dr. Briefs stood over a table, which was littered with blue prints, empty coffee cups and pictures of Bulma.
"I can't talk right now, kids, I'm busy!" he said flustered, and then stopped working when the big group crowded into the laboratory, the sight of all of them puzzled him, what could they all want? Especially the baby.
"Dr. Briefs, can you build a Dragon Radar?" Krillin asked, deciding it was not time to beat about the bush. They all nodded, even baby Gohan who was caught up in the moment.
"I need a Dragonball if I was to, but . . . do you have one?" he asked, removing his glasses and coming over to them, knocking papers onto the floor without seeming to notice or care.
"Aha!" said the ever organised Chichi, who sat Gohan on her other hip and looked in her bag and came up with the 4 star Dragonball, which her family always had around, since Goku felt attached to it because of his Grandfather Gohan.
"Right, thank you my dear, this shouldn't take too long. Will this really be able to bring my daughter back?" he asked, looking hopeful.
"It should do. When we used them after Fureiza had left, we wished for everyone they had killed to be brought back, she wasn't brought back, but by now...if we ask by name, I mean, I think she will return to us!" Yamcha grinned, excited at the thought of having her back.
"I hope you're right, I miss my little girl. I wish I had spent more time with her, but you know Bulma, independent spirit, always off on some adventure, no, don't look guilty, I'm glad she was out making friends and enjoying life, I just should have been around for her when she was around for me" he said ruefully.
They all looked at him, not knowing what to do and when he turned his back to start making it, they left the room and waited in the living room upstairs, while Mrs. Briefs brought them cakes and tea.
