Chapter 32 - Arrivals And The Future Worries
Nappa got out of his pod, and looked up from the crater it had caused. He could sense Raditzu and Vegeta near to him, so he flew upwards feeling refreshed in the low gravity of the planet. He was still thinking about Vegeta and his onna, he had thought of nothing else for hours. How could he be so weak as to give into his passions in such a way that displayed more love than lust, maybe at one point it was mere instincts, but no matter how much he tried to stop thinking it, Nappa was sure that Vegeta had cared for the girl, prehaps still did. However, with her death Vegeta had ascended, which made Nappa all the more confused about whether that sort of relationship was good, maybe he could ascend if he fell in - dare he believe it of his Lord - love. He approached Vegeta and Raditzu who were standing between their craters and waiting for him, he looked intently at Vegeta, someone he had known since Vegeta was born, and did see something different in his eyes. There was hurt in his eyes, and he looked almost sorrowful, and Nappa knew, just knew it, that Vegeta was missing that girl so much because he had fallen in love with her. He didn't know that Saiya-jins were capable of such a love. He knew that they chose mates, and although the woman didn't often mark the man, they stayed together exclusively. It was plain that male Saiya-jins could grow deeply fond of their partners, but since such emotions were considered a weakness they conditioned themselves not to feel for each other. It applied to the females too, they did not depend on the man or fall in love. However, their prince had fallen in love, so quickly and so passionately, it seemed unreal to the Saiya-jin culture. Maybe it was because she was human, or because she was his first, whatever it was Nappa could not help but wonder if the woman loved Vegeta back in the way he loved her. If she had ever refused to acknowledge his love for her now, or laugh about him, Nappa promised himself he would kill her. Had she not already been dead. That was such the extent of his alligance to his Prince.
"Nappa, are you with us?" mocked Raditzu, and Nappa looked up and glared at Raditzu, but walked over all the same. He wanted to ask Vegeta all the questions that burned on his mind, but knew that if he asked the question no gohatto then Vegeta would kill him, so Nappa did not dare asked whether Vegeta truly loved her.
"Sadly yes, I don't like this planet." Nappa stated as he looked around. They appeared to be in some desert, although they could see grass and a small village near by, where weak Ki radiated.
"Where are these Dragonballs then?" asked Raditzu. "Should we look for them or find my wretched brother first?"
Vegeta looked around him, trying get his bearings and smiling inside as soon he would get her back. He reached inside his torn battle suit, which he had not had time to change and it was still covered with tears, blood and dirt. He hoped she wouldn't recoil from him in horror.
"We find the Dragonballs first, this radar can lead us. We only involve Kakarotto when we have gathered them all, I can imagine he won't be at our superior way of thinking yet. I can sense some strengths here on this planet, but none match my own as I am now the legendary Super Saiya-jin and even the two of you are far stronger." Vegeta clicked the Radar and soon a blinking dot stood out, so the 3 Saiya-jins rose and flew off in the right direction. None of them truly knew what the Dragonballs were, or how exactly the wish came to be granted and why, if the onna had this Radar, hadn't used the Dragonballs to wish for strength and how exactly a girl had invented such a mechanism.
They found the first Dragonball quickly, it was buried under leaves under a tree. They all looked at the orange globe and wondered how that ball with 6 stars could bring them immortality, Vegeta was wondering the same thing, but also thinking how it would bring back Bulma and how he would explain that to Nappa and Raditzu. Nappa picked it up and they took off again and within a couple of hours, they had collected four Dragonballs. Raditzu sighed and lay back against a rock, he wanted to rest for awhile, and he was sick of flying over the tall cities that all looked the same and watching the pathetic humans walk around. Why couldn't they fly? Nappa shook his head and yawned, he looked at Vegeta who looked eager to continue, yet in deep worried thought.
