Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Meow ❯ Don’t quit your day job ( Chapter 17 )
Disclaimer: I do not own DB/Z/GT or any of the characters created by the all mighty manga Dende Akira Toriyama. And I do not own any characters from Outlaw Star (used as a reference).
Author Note: This is my first time writing a real fanfic and I am not real sure about it. I would appreciate any input even flames at this point to help me revise this into what it deserves to be. Also I am soo sorry I haven't updated in a a while, but I got "Dragon's of a vanished star" for my birthday and couldn't put it down. But I am under control now and will try to continue writing one chapter a night starting with this one again. Anyway I hope you enjoy.
Another AN: I was very tired when I wrote this last chapter and mixed up on the time elements I wanted in the last part of the chapter where they are talking on earth. But I have fixed it and it is now ok.

Chapter 17: "Don't quit your day job"
'I am nothing, I am a blob of floating mass. I lived for only one purpose and that is now gone. Even if I ever found my purpose again she may reject me. Why did this happen? Why was she taken from me?' Trunks rolled over pulling his face from the damp pillow and staring at the ceiling. He felt nauseous, weak, and most importantly…pathetic. "Why do I live if she is not with me," he said to the ceiling.
"Because she will come back to you," said the ceiling. (AN: No he is not on drugs.) Trunks blinked and noticed a face in the ceiling. 'Dear Dende I'm finally loosing it,' he thought with a smile. The face was that of a child, all of it white except for the deep pools of black that were her eyes. He watched his eyes widening as the child slowly came forth from the ceiling and floated before him, her body a pale white like that of his ceiling. Her hair a long soft velvety blue, and those dark eyes, 'her' eyes.
"Who are you," he said sitting up and staring at her.
"Be brave, you must hold on and you will find her again. She awaits the chance to see you again, you just have to believe." He stared at her dumbfounded as she began floating towards the window sitting directly in front of the moon and looked like she was being absorbed into it. "Daddy," she said with a smile, now only her face showing in from of the moon. "Please don't give up on us." With those last words all of her had disappeared into the moon.
With a start Trunks fell out of bed and onto the ground. He looked up for the moon, but unlike in the vision it was a half moon, not a full. "A dream?" He looked at the ceiling and again at the moon. "My daughter…Pan…" He sat in bed a second staring at the sheets. He whispered so softly even a saiyan would have trouble hearing him as he said, "I will find you again. Both of you." He lay down and quickly fell asleep thinking of his plans for the next day.
Sunriseat the Quinatli Castle
Pan felt the first rays of the sun hit the top of her head. She sat there feeling the warmth of the light until it had made its way to her left eye, making her eye slowly open to welcome the new day and the life-giving light. She rolled on her back and stretched. Pan felt so comfortable she just wanted to stay in bed all day. But was soon dragged from bed by a very uncomfortable lump sitting on her chest.
"Wakey wakey Pan, we better get going on cleaning this place. Even with our incredible speed it will still take us a couple of hours." Pan swatted the cheery face away hoping to get some more sleep but instead fell out of bed and was tangled in the sheets with Nasha. By the time they both got out of bed they noticed Margaret was already awake and starting to get into her uniform.
"Hello, I'm Son Pan one of your new co-workers," said Pan walking in front of her and bowing. But she walked right passed her and even avoided the bear hug that Nasha tried to give her on the way out.
"Odd," they both said but realized that since she was already up and gone they must be late for work. They threw on the disgusting looking uniforms that consisted of what looked like a one piece throw over dress in a dab gray, bandanas to hold their hair back in and an apron. They ran to the cleaning closet and noticed only the bathroom supplies were gone.
"Must be cleaning the bathrooms," said Pan with a shrug. "Ok that leaves five other areas to clean. There's the living rooms which is dusting and vacuuming and washing windows, then there's laundry, and dishes, and bedrooms which is a lot like the living rooms except look." Pan pulled up a bucket of mints for the pillows with a grin.
"Well what's the last area?"
"Kitchen."
"I say we leave the laundry and dishes until the end." Pan nodded in agreement.
"Well I'll take the bedrooms," said Pan.
"Well we can do the kitchen when we do dishes so I guess I'll do the living room." With that they agreed to wait until the other was done down by the cabinet and both went to their assignments. Pan had about 34 smaller rooms to clean while Nasha had 6 huge rooms to clean so it was pretty even. They both gave it their all determined to get most of it done by the afternoon and have some time to go look around the town. Pan was on her 32nd room.
'Almost done, and then it's easy work.' Even though the planet was a bit old fashioned and everything they still had machines to help with the laundry. Unfortunately dishes were another story, but they were just dishes. She was almost done with the room, all she had to do was wash the two huge windows and put a mint on the pillow, when she felt someone watching her. She turned quickly to see a tall man standing in the doorway staring at her. He was tall with white hair that looked silver in the bit of light the sun cast upon it. He was very lean and compact with deep blue eyes. Bluer then even Trunks, but they gave her an uneasy feeling. She sat there expecting him to say something, but when he didn't she continued with her work. She placed the mint on the pillow and turned to leave the room, but the man wouldn't move.
"Excuse me sir," she said bowing very lowly. "But I need to continue my work and to do so I need to get through the doorway you happen to be in. May I please get by?"
"Your name," he said in a deep almost mystical voice that sent shivers down her voice.
"Pan…Son Pan," she said and bowed again. She stood back up and stared at him not sure what to do about this situation when he finally moved out of the way. "Thank you." She tried to make her way out of the room but before she was out of the door he spoke again.
"You will have lunch with me, be there at 1:15sharp, no excuses." She turned to ask him who he was but he had already turned and walked out of the door in front of her. She shrugged it off; it was only 8:45.
Nasha paced back and forth waiting on Pan. She knew Pan had more rooms, but they were smaller and simpler. Or at least she thought so. Pan finally came running down the stairs. "Pan where have you been," she said exasperated.
"Sorry some weirdo was in this bedroom I was cleaning and he wouldn't stop staring at me. Then he told me to eat lunch with him. Sorta scary huh?"
"Forget the wierdo, Margaret came back and went to the kitchen with the dish soap. So I guess we have the laundry." They grabbed the many detergents and softeners and made their way to the basement laundry room where they were confronted with the hugest pile of dirty cloths they had ever seen in their lives.
"It's bigger then the both of us put together," said Pan noticing the cloths went all the way up to the laundry chute in the ceiling. They pushed the pile of cloths over a bit an another smaller pile of cloths fell on them from the chute, probably stuck up their from the pile. They both quickly sorted out two piled of whites and put them in two of the five washer machines. Then sighed as a pile bigger then the two they just put in came down.
"We'll be at this all day," moaned Nasha.
"Oh well, at least the machines will do most of the work for us." Pan smiled and the two girls sorted out another pile of whites and then went through and dug out two piles of towels to throw in. They went for almost 3 hours just putting cloths in and out of the machines, folding them and taking them upstairs to the main help's room where Rosawas able to take the baskets and put them away in the right bedrooms. The pile had went down considerably, but there were probably about 7 more loads to do, but at least the amount of cloths coming down the chute was now slim to none.
It was at the time they were folding a batch of laundry a young woman in a red pull-over dress came down looking around and spotted the two girls.
"Excuse me, which one of you is Pan." She looked back and forth between the two girls.
"Umm…me," said Pan staring at this girl who she had never seen in her life.
"It is almost time for your lunch with his highness."
"Who?" Pan was willing enough to take the lunch, but why would the prince want to talk to her. 'Maybe that creepy guy is a friend of his! Oh Dende no!'
"His Highness the king invited you to lunch earlier and you need a proper bathing and dressing to eat lunch with the king. It is now a quarter to noon so we don't have much time to make you look as proper as you could be." Pan felt like backhanding the girl into the next galaxy, but Nasha grabbed her arm hard and held her back.
"Umm sure give me a minute though," said Pan trying not to let the woman know it may be the last minute of her life. Once the woman had left Pan turned ready to kick the shit out of Nasaha.
"Why did you stop me," she snarled.
"It's the prince!!!!! If you're nice to his royal high and richness we may get out of here sooner!!! It's a golden opportunity. Come on Pan, it's free food how bad can it be?" Pan sighed and bowed her head. "You know I'm right. Just take one for the team."
"Ok ok, I'll do it, now lay off ok?" Pan sighed and looked at a new pile of laundry that just came in. "Now I think I'll leave you to your laundry and be on my way for some free food." Nasha growled and swatted at her as she bounded up the stairs after the annoying woman in the red dress.
Pan never wanted to go through that hell ever again. She had just been scrubbed of her total outer layer of skin, or so she thought anyway. Then been burnt and scalded with water. Then forced into a dress 5 times too small for even her, she swore death to one and all if this dress hurt her child in anyway. This got rid of almost everyone trying to help her in and another dress was brought in a few sizes bigger. To top it off the dress was pink and she had a damn pink bow in her hair! They insisted on hiding her ears somehow, didn't want to scare 'his highness' with her freakishness. A damn pink bow!!! 'God everyone would laugh at me if they saw me right now.' But she held her head up and walked outside on the balcony where she saw the weirdo waiting for her. She felt a frown pull at the rest of her face as she made her way over and sat in a chair across from him.
"You made it," he said smiling softly. Not nearly as creepy as earlier, but there was something about his voice and those eyes that speared the depths of her soul every time he spoke to her or stared at her (which he did a lot of).
"So you're the prince," she said not at all happily. "Well when is lunch coming? Or is this all a sick joke and you go cannibalistic on me and eat me?" The .waiter and servants around her looked like she was the crazy one and just stared jaws to the floor when the prince started laughing. Not a cruel laugh like Pan thought, but a warm hearty one, like her grandfather Satan gave.
"No, it will be served shortly. I just wanted to talk with you a bit first. You definitely look different from this morning," he said and started warming up to her, but also glanced at her now apparent stomach. She still felt a bit uneasy about him, but he was beginning to act a bit more normal. His tail swished softly from the back of his seat, as did hers, but hers was hidden under the hideous dress.
"Compliments of your evil henchwoman in the ugly red dress." He chuckled at this a bit. "She didn't want me looking too freakish in front of 'his majesty.'"
"She's actually my daughters nurse."
"Dende no! That poor child, save her! Saver her now while she still has a chance," she said really acting on these words. If it wasn't for the mischievous twinkle in her eye he would have taken her seriously. He couldn't help himself as he once again let out a hardy laugh along with the girl this time.
"Where are you from?" She looked over at him and he was still smiling, so she guessed that he was just making conversation. But she decided to really give him a conversation.
"I'm from Earth." She sipped on the glass of water that was in front of her.
"Where is this earth?"
"About a galaxy of so away." He stared at her a bit shocked, but only in his eyes, his face was composed as he stared at her trying to figure out if she was lying or not.
"So what brings an earthling here?"
"Actually it's because of my heritage. I'm part saiyan so I was captured by some madman obsessed with almost extinct people and races."
This time he lost his composed face. "Do not lie to the king," he shouted. "Especially about saiyans!"
"Now why would I lie to you?" She stared at his face, now grim and looking very angry with her. "I'll prove it to ya." With that she tossed the bow away and let her tail sway out form under her dress. With that she slowly sat down and started her long family story. About five minutes into it the food came. She devoured all meal on her own while he stared at her. After the fifth meal she took a long swig of the cider they had brought with the meal and began her tale again. She finished her story and looked up at the prince wondering if he believed her or not. If he didn't, she hoped she didn't get Nasha fired in the process.
"Lunch is over," he said and got up leaving the table. Pan shrugged, took a drink of her water and went back to the changing room where she retrieved her uniform and went back to the basement to meet Nasha where she told her exactly what had happened at lunch.
"Pan you idiot!! You probably got us fired!"
"Wrong," said Pan grabbing a pile of darks and tossing them in the washer. "If anything I may have gotten myself fired, not you. And I don't even know that yet. All he did was get up and leave."
"Pan you just better hope at least I keep this job or we could be on this planet a long time. Do you really want to go through child birth on this planet and never have your daughter know her father?" Pan looked at the floor and felt like crying thinking of Trunks and how far away he was and how much she missed him. She jerked her head up as she felt Nasha's hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I know how much you miss Trunks and your family, but if you ever really want to see them again we have to get off of this planet, no matter what." Pan just nodded and turned to a dryer that had just buzzed indicating the load was done. Pan bent down to get the cloths but turned and ran into Nasha's arms and cried. Nasha put her arms around her and held her close letting her cry on her shoulder.
Back on Earth
It had been almost a week since the dream of his daughter and he never gave up the hope that he would see the both of them again. But he was becoming seriously worried as he sat there and waited to hear any news. He knew they were alive so he knew they couldn't bring him bad news. He felt them, alone, out there somewhere so far away. But today was the day. Today was the day the good news arrived.
They were gathered in the computer room awaiting the message from Leon. He popped up on screen. "I am sorry we have taken so long to get back to you, but they almost completely disappeared without a trace what-so-ever. But we were able to finally find the frequency of the craft they had and tried to communicate. But found that they were sending a distress signal. It's been on for a little less than a week. It's on a planet a galaxy or so away from your own. My guess is they were trying to get home, but something happened. We landed there and checked it out to find they had run out of fuel.
"I left one of my men there in case someone came, but I haven't heard anything from him yet. We plan on coming to Earth to get all of you since to our knowledge our craft is faster and go there to find out where they went and exactly what's going on. Prepare to meet and board our ship in exactly twelve hours, we will land outside your compound and make our way to the planet That is all, over and out."
'We're coming Pan. We'll be there soon. I'll be there soon.' Trunks gave a genuine smile, the first in a long time.
What will become of Pan and Nasha now that Pan's told their secret? Where are they? What will Trunks and the others find when they arrive on the planet? Find out in the next chapter: "A Trap!"
AN: Sorry but I got mixed up when I was writing this and got the time all mixed up. Sorry but it is now fixed. So enjoy!
