Disclaimer: I do not own DB/Z/GT or any of the characters created by the all mighty manga god Akira Toriyama. And I do not own any characters from Outlaw Star (used as a reference).

Author Note: This is my first time writing a real fanfic and I am not real sure about it. I would appreciate any input even flames at this point to help me revise this into what it deserves to be. Also I wrote a second chapter tonight because I may not get to tomorrow because I'm going to the fair. If I can then this is just a nice gift. Anyway I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 20: "The unknown ally"

Nearly a month had gone by and no word on Mardol or Pan. Everyone on Leon's ship was restless, well all except the new couple. After their long nights they'd sleep like bricks. But a lot of the crew tried to ignore that. Trunks was getting a lot more depressed and angry as time went on. But Nasha assured him that he wouldn't try a thing while Pan was pregnant, Mardol was a scientist. Even if he did want to do horrible things to her or her baby after she was born, it bought them some time. But as the days and weeks dragged on and Pan's impending due-date coming up they were all starting to loose hope.

They had posted a huge bounty for both Pan and Mardol. Pan was wanted alive and anyone who harmed her would be…well let's say both Trunks and Gohan had collaborated on that part of the bounty post. And Mardol was wanted dead or alive, if he was dead no one cared. While if he was alive they would torture him until he wished he was dead. They had even posted a reward for any info on anyone even seeing them, but nothing.

Leon had gotten that hacker friend of theirs search around and even he couldn't find them, which was pretty bad. Very few people knew of their whereabouts. And out of all of them, besides Mardol, only one was not a prisoner of his.

On Mardol's ship out in space

Pan lay on her back in bed staring at the ceiling rubbing her hand over her elongated stomach and groaned. 'Why? Why did I have to get in all of this mess? Why couldn't I just live happily and go to college and be Trunks wife and be a good mother? Why did this have to happen?' She let the tears cascade down her cheeks as she felt another sharp kick to her side.

She already knew of her future, if it could even be called that. As soon as she went into labor she would be knocked out and Mardol would steal her child away. Since she had escaped before she was going to be killed by a pain-killer overdose while she was out. 'I won't even get to see her before I die.'

Then Mardol planned on raising her daughter up on his own and making her his body guard and messing with her DNA to breed her like Pan was originally supposed to be for. A life of slavery, like Nasha. No free will of any kind, she had considered killing herself and her daughter many times to try and keep them both from their impending doom, but she always held onto that sliver of hope that Trunks and them would find her and save her. She decided that if it came down to him taking her to the OR and being put under gas, at the last minute she would kill them both. 'Hold out to the last second.'

Even if she wanted to escape she had the ring on her neck and even without it she was too weak from the pregnancy to escape. This was going to be her fate, but how she died was her choice and she wasn't going to let anyone make that choice for her.

'I'll have to make that decision soon,' thought Pan as she felt her second contraction hit her and cause her to wince in pain. Her water hadn't broken yet, but it would with a strong enough contraction. She just lay their and kept the hope alive that at any minute some savior of some sort would come to her rescue. But that hope continued to die as she felt a warm liquid seep out from between her legs and heard the door opening.

Mardol and his assistant both walked in as Mardol placed a hand over her stomach and noticed the fluid. "Trying to hide it from me huh? Well you'll get yours soon enough. Ginger, get her on a gurney and get her down to the OR and prep her.

"Yes sir," came a dull monotone voice. They both left the room and left Pan alone to put a hand over her stomach and try to hold back the tears.

"This will probably be the last few minutes I'll have with you. Don't be afraid. I don't know if you can hear me now or not, but know that I love you, no matter what any one ever tells you. I love you and I always have." She laid back in bed stroking her stomach until the nurse once again came back and put her on the gurney and removed her collar and started wheeling her down the hallway.

The pushed past the double doors at the end of the hall that was the OR. The woman put Pan's legs in a stirrup and accessed her degree of dilation. Then put her legs back down and went over and fiddled with the gases. 'She's a murderer and she doesn't even seem to care.' Mardol came in the room in a white scrub and gloves.

"Good very good," he said looking at the little chart his assistant had scribbled out. "Well then let's get this going." Pan felt her ki rising readying for the moment that she would feel the mask cover her face. But the moment never came. She had shut her eyes as she started gathering what ki she had left and opened them when she heard a metallic clang and a thud. She looked up to see the assistant holding the gas container and Mardol lying on the floor unconscious.

"What's going on? Who are you?" The woman didn't reply. She just grabbed onto the gurney and wheeled her out of the room and down the long and winding corridors until they came to a docking bay. To which the woman pulled out a capsule and popped it open. It was a one man saiyan-like pod. She lifted Pan with ease and placed her in the pod. Then somehow crammed herself into it and started pushing the buttons. The bay door opened and within seconds they were out among the vast stars of space.

"Who are you? What's going on?" The woman didn't seem to hear her.

"How are your contractions coming? Are you close?"

"About 5 minutes apart I think. I don't know is that close?"

"Not too close, but if they shift and drop to three or something it will be too late. We need to land now." With that she pushed a few buttons and the ship started to shake as they began entering a planets atmosphere. They landed easily and the pod opened into the cool night air of some planet in a lush forest. The woman got out and looked around then turned and picked Pan up and laid her on the ground and left.

"Hey where are you going? Are you just going to leave me here?" But the woman was gone. 'Oh well, at least I'm safe from Mardol for now.' She realized her contractions were now coming at about every four minutes. She was breathing hard getting through the next one and was just about through it when the woman came back caring an armful of huge leaves.

"We don't have any cloth so these leaves need to make do." With that she lifted Pan's butt and put a few of the over-sized leaves under her and pulled her gown up to her stomach.

"But who are you?" The woman looked up at her and considered this question for a moment.

"I will explain that later, for right now we have other things to attend to." The contractions continued as Pan finally sat up to give the few essential pushes needed to relieve herself of the massive pain. (AN: Sorry but I don't really think I need to get into the really nasty details of childbirth. Yes it's a beautiful thing but it can also get a bit gross.) Pan lay back worried as she didn't hear a sound from the child, but let out a sigh of relief as she heard a timid cry escape those lips.

She felt around and found a small tree to lean up against and dragged herself to it. The woman sat next to her and handed her the small and a bit cleaner bundle wrapped in the leaves. Pan smiled at the tiny ears that protruded from her head and the tiny tail wagging softly around the baby's waist.

"So you want to know who I am," asked the woman gaining Pan's attention. "You may remember me from my stay at the castle. But I went under a different name." Pan stared at the woman long and hard and gasped at the realization.

"Margaret?"

"Yes, but you see I am not Margaret, nor am I Ginger or any of the other various names I use. My real name is known only by me. I was sent to the castle about a month before you came, you're lucky you have some friends in very high places. But I can not divulge who it was who sent me after you. I was able to keep an eye on you and get aboard the ship while Mardol's attention was drawn at the arena and took on the identity of his assistant. My goal was to help you escape and make sure you both got home safely," she said referring to the child."

"I thank you very much, but I cannot go," said Pan sadly.

"What do you mean? I can't just let you go."

"Please," said Pan looking up at her sadly. "That even if I get home I will not be safe, Mardol will come after me and found out I lied about there being other saiyans and then I will have put all of my friends and family in danger. I have to stay and confront him. And now that I'm not pregnant anymore I'll recover and be able to stand my ground against him. The only thing is," she said staring down into her arms at the bundle that was now snoozing. "I need her safe. If he somehow found her and stole her he could use her against me in a battle, and if I die during a battle with him she would be his slave. You have to help me. Does anyone know of your actual presence or existence?"

"No one."

"Then please take my daughter home and go to a big domed building called Capsule Corporation and find a woman named Bulma Briefs, tell her you have some important news about Pan and tell her what happened. She can contact my mother and grandmother and Tamiyo will be safe."

"Tamiyo," she questioned looking down at the little fluff of blue sticking out of the leaves.

"Yes, Tamiyo, I like that name," said Pan.

"Well it will take a couple of hours for my pod to recharge, so I suggest you spend as much time with her as you can." Pan nodded knowing what she meant. Even though Tamiyo would be safe, this may be the last time she would ever see her mother alive.

"I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe," said Pan and kissed her forehead.

Two hours later

The woman stood in front of Pan and held Tamiyo, sleeping, in her arms. "I left a message with your friends who are out looking for you. They've been looking quite a while." Pan blushed slightly. "But they're not too far off and I doubt Mardol will be able to trace you very quickly. So just wait in this area and your friends should be here to get you soon. I know you're not going home until you face Mardol, but your friends and family could help. Don't let your pride be the death of you. Your pride may die, but they'll still love you." Pan nodded as the woman climbed into the pod and slowly lifted into the air and took off. Pan let the tears flow freely from her face as she watched her daughter, not even a full day old fly away.

"I'll love you always," said Pan and sat back and let the tears flow freely.

Back on Leon's ship

"We found her," came a loud booming voice from the control room that echoed through the entire ship. The crew made it up to the computer room in a couple minutes to find Leon and Taski smiling from ear to ear and doing some sort of creepy dance.

"What's going on," asked Trunks looking hopefully at them.

"We found her," they both shouted and pointed to the screen as Leon hit the enter key. A dark figure came on screen, but was hidden in the shadow enough so that her face could not be seen.

"I have found Son Pan of whom you seek. I helped her escape from Mardol and she is currently on planet Palin (AN: DL reference hehe). Her coordinates on the planet are 500789N and 342217W. She is in good health but is a little weak from child birth. The child and mother are both healthy." At this the camera went off of the woman and zoomed over to the tree that Pan was under and zoomed in on the happy mother and daughter. While Tamiyo cooed and Pan smiled. The camera then went back to the shadowed figure. "I ask no reward and want no one to know who I am; I am doing this as a favor to a dear friend. Please come quickly, I do not know how fast Mardol will be able to track her down and don't think she can defend herself in her weakened state. Good luck and hurry." With that the screen went blank. The men then began dancing again.

"What the hell are you two doing dancing," screamed Trunks. "Didn't you hear?! Mardol may be after her right now too and could get to her before us! Get us going!" The two grinning men stopped their stupid dance and looked a bit ashamed and quickly went to work on their coordinates. Trunks went over to the main window and stared out. 'We'll finally see each other again Pan. And I'll get to meet my daughter. My daughter.' The word echoed in his head and gave him a warm feeling like when you remember a good memory of your childhood and reflect back on it. But no one knew what was also headed for that planet.

Who will get to Pan first? Will Tamiyo get home safetly? What will happen when Mardol arrives? Find out in the next chapter: "Confrontation"

AN: Sorry this chapter seems a bit short, but the next one I'll try to make longer.
