No way out
Pan sat in her room at her grandfather's estate, slouching on her black leather couch, zapping trough the 300 channels as fast as the remote control could manage.
“How cliché…”, se said, turning off the television and throwing the remote on her bed, on the other side of the room.
“I guess it is really true. 300 channels, and absolutely nothing to watch. What dolt came up with the Sushi Channel anyway?”, she pondered, shaking her head.
She stretched, and yawned loudly. It was only 3 pm, and she was already tired of boredom.
What happened to all those good old adventurous days? All she did nowadays was go to school, eat, train alone and sleep, and maybe in the weekends go out with her boyfriend or friends. No evil beings threatening the Earth… Vegeta refusing to train her, and her uncle Goten and best friend Trunks quit training all together, witch really surprised her! And it really pissed her off too. The only one who would train with her sometimes where Ubuu, her father Gohan, and Junanagou, but they all had their responsibilities, and their reservations about training with her…
Pan groaned. What was she going to do? This was so damn boring! Her life was… well… perfect! She got straight A's, wit hardly even lifting a finger to do homework, she got the most attractive and nice boy in school, she was fairly popular, she had many real friends, she was fairly famous, at least well-know in Japan because of her family's history in fighting, on both her parents sides, and she got her own reputation of being a promising fighter herself, at least in human standards. She had friends and family in all the right places, one being her best friend Trunks, an all-powerfull businessman who could get his hands on anything he wanted, and her grandfather Hercule, who could reserve a V.I.P.-place for her in every fighting event she wanted to go to, her uncle Goten, who owned a chain of 4 star restaurants all over Japan, so she could take her friends on fancy diners whenever she wanted, and for free…Her father, Gohan, who got a promotion to Doctor in Biology and started taking on managing skills, and became the head of the University she so desperately wanted to go to, but couldn't really afford, and off course, now she could, with the big pay he got, and off course Bura, the now famous clothing designer, who's new clothing lines she always got to ware way before they came into the market.
So what was bugging her?
Who was she fooling. She knew exactly what was bugging her. And it got her very worried. She felt like she was slowly going crazy because of it. She had already talked about it with her father, and he suggested more meditation and more sleep, but it had slowly gotten worse. She had taken on lessons from Vegeta, but he immediately saw something was different about her. He informed her he could not train her if she was that way, and that she should do something about it A.S.A.P., before it got out of hand. And the worst thing was, even Ubuu and Junanagoo noticed something changed. They had both started questioning her, but she had refused to tell them what was happening, for, she really didn't know. She had changed somehow, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Al she knew is that she was acting more emotional, she would become unreasonably angry at people sometimes, for absolutely nothing, and sometimes even violent.
She lazily turned around on her couch, and watched the interior of her room. It was a large room, with a lot of space. Black drapes where hung across the ceiling, to create a tent-like or eastern effect. Above the drapes, many little lights where placed, to create a starry night effect if she wanted it. Moving lower, her room had midnight blue walls, with the upper parts painted with fluorescent yellow dots and stars, witch gave off light in the dark, and on the ground black high poled carpet, with huge blue pillows to sit on, next to her bookcase. Also, a large plasma TV hung on the wall, and there was a huge stereo placed underneath it. Also, there was a cabinet with all of her sports trophies, mainly from marshal arts competitions, athletics and swimming, and one from the last youth budokai, where she came in first. Next was a cabinet with pictures of family and friends, and a big picture of her and her boyfriend Yuko together, hugging their cheeks together.
On the walls where all kinds of posters and some art she painted herself, though she wasn't very good at it. And, off course, the big silver clock she got from her grandmother Chi-Chi, who got it from her father the Ox-King. There where some plants as well, and a black wooden desk with a laptop and a lamp. She rarely touched the laptop, because she preferred to write out her homework, and let the computer at school scan it and put into text, and she didn't really live here anyway. The main light source in her room was a big chandelier, with silver and crystal hanging form it. It gave a really cool effect if you lighted it.
Pan pulled her cell phone from her pocket and dialled a number she dialled very often these days.
**Hey babe! Thinking about my abs again?**
“That's really lame, Yuko.”, Pan said, but she laughed anyway.
**Heheh. O well. I try to be original every time you call. But you don't really give me time to think up a good one…**
“Hmm…. Is that a hint…”, Pan questioned.
**Damn straight it is! It's time you actually get of your but and come see me! I've missed you lately…**
“That's exactly what I was thinking! So, do you have time today? I can fly over right now if you want!”
**Sure, Panny. You can come right now! I don't have anything to do anyway. Wanna meet me at the beach?**
“Yeah, that would be great! Let's play some soccer! Shall I invite Bra and Trunks to come with me? They have time off too!”
**Sure, uhm…**
“And you go ahead and take your little brothers along…”
**Panny, wait. I.. uh.. have a surprise for you… so I would like it if we could be alone…**
Oh boy… was this a good surprise or a bad one?
“Well, okay...”
**You'll love it! ….. I hope….**
“Heh , you know me well enough! So don't worry about it!”
**Okay. I'll head to the beach now. I'll see you later, okay? And put on that sexy thong bikini…**
“Hell, no! I'm surprised that thing is even legal! It barely covers my nipples!”
**(Sniggers) Yeah….**
“Are you drooling?”
**(Slurp) …No!... Well, I'll see you soon! Bye, babe!**
“Sigh…okay, bye, you hentai!”, Pan said, and she hung up.
She walked to her closet and picked a pretty modest black bikini, in stead of the skanky thing Bra gave her. She put it on and randomly grabbed some hot pants and a t-shirt from the shelves, the hotpants being white and the t-shirt a dark blue. Then she put on some simple flip-flops and put her shoulder-length black hair in a sloppy ponytail, to keep it out of the way while flying. She grabbed some sunglasses and sunscreen, a bottle of water, and a frisbee to play with, and put them in a backpack. Then she took off out of the window, leaving a note for her grandfather.
She arrived in just over 15 minutes of high speed flying, high above the clouds to avoid being seen. She knew the way like the back of her hand. She landed gracefully in the sand, right behind the darkblue-haired and grey-eyed 21 year old boy.
He spun around, and looked quite surprised.
“Shees, babe, you startled me! Most of the time you come from that way, across the sea!” He said, pointing to the south, across the ocean.
Pan smiled, and planted a kiss on his cheek. Yuko blushed a little.
“You are such a sissy! Anyway, I'm staying with my grandfather for a while, to have a change of scene for a while. That's why I came from the North.”
“Oh…because of your problem, right?”, Yuko asked, a serious look on his face.
“Yeah…maybe it will help me? Who knows…”, Pan said quietly.
“It'll be allright… we've been together for two years now, and I know you very well. You'll be fine, and I'll help you anyay I can!”
“Thanks, Yuko.”, Pan said hesitantly. She didn't say that she didn't really believe anyone could help her.
“Okay, sit down, and close your eyes! I have something for you…”
They both sat down in the sand, and Pan put her hands before her eyes.
Yuko cleared his throat and nervously grabbed something from behind him.
This is it! Pan thought, being very curious.
Yuko placed something soft, wrapped in paper in her hands, and a little box on top of it.
“Okay, you can open your eyes now!”, Yuko said.
Pan did as she was told, and she saw a red velvet box in her hand, and something wrapped in gold coloured paper.
“Ow wow!”, Pan said. “…Wait… you're not proposing, are you?”
Yuko got very red on the face. “No...” ,He squeaked. But Pan didn't pay attention to that. She clapped open the little box, and inside was a platinum ring, with a little round crystal, resembling the four-star dragonball she kept in her safe at home.
The dragonball she had so many fond and sad memories of, like the adventures, and her grandfather.
“Oh my GOD! YUKO! This is GREAT! “, Pan yelled, and she wrapped his arms around him. “You don't know what this means to me! Thank you so much! I love it! I love YOU!”
“Then… you won't mind marrying me, right!?”
Pan slowly got out of the hug, and looked him in the eye. She thought about what would happen, if she, a seventeen year-old, would marry this 21 year-old boy. What complications would this have for them? Especially with her being…not well…
He stared back at her, disappointment slowly showing in his face.
“You think I'm crazy right…?”, he said with a strained voice.
“Yes I think you're quite crazy…”
“I should have known… I should have thought about this… of course you don't want to… we are to young…”, he started rambling, looking at the ground.
“LET ME FINISH, YOU DOPE!”, Pan yelled.
“I do think you are crazy, wanting to get married right now. But, why shouldn't we get engaged for a few years? I already know I want to spend my life with you, so now we can make some plans! So grab that ring and put it on my finger, will ya!”
Yuko flashed a brilliant smile, and carefully took the ring from the box. He took Pan's left hand, and slowly put it on her ring finger.
“There you go, babe. I just know we where meant to be together…”
“But, I don't have anything I can give you!”
“I don't need anything, really…”
“No, it isn't finished if I don't give you something as well…hey, I know! ”, Pan said, and she grabbed her orange headband, and put it around his left wrist.
Yuko felt the fabric. He looked up at Pan again, and said: “Hey…wasn't this your grandpa's?”
“Yes it was. It's yours now.”
“But… doesn't this mean like.. a lot to you? You ware it all the time!”, Yuko asked her.
“I know, I know. But you should take it. I want you to have it!”, Pan said, taking his hands in hers.
“Wow… well thanks, babe!”, yuko said, looking at his wrist, and then at the dragonball ring on her finger. “You gave the greater gift here…”, he said.
Pan gave him a quick kiss on the nose, and grabbed the soft golden package. She ripped off the golden paper, and took the fabric inside in her hands, and held it out. It was a black , sleeveless gi, just like the one her grandfather used to ware, long ago, when he was an adult. It had an orange sash.
“Wow…really cool!”, Pan said, and she grabbed another peace of clothing, still in the package.
It was an orange shirt, for underneath the gi. She looked at both of the pieces of clothing, and a big smile was plastered on her face. She also noticed the quality of the clothing. The fabric was almost indestructible to normal humans. It must have been very expensive!
“Yuko, you must know me very well! This is exactly what I like!”
“Phew! I'm glad you like it!”, Yuko said.
He leaned in to kiss her, and Pan closed her eyes, ready for the kiss. Suddenly she snapped them open and yelled: “Just don't start thinking about super Saiyan children for a while, PLEASE!”
Yuko's jaw dropped. “What the… how did you know that!?”
“It just came up…”, Pan giggled.
“You, Pan Son, are freaking me out! I was just thinking about that!”
“Heh. Maybe I should tell you about Saiyans and Bonding now…”
