"My decision is as follows: You will pay the stud fee, and you will repair your fence. If ever your bull is found wondering again, whoever catches and places it in a secure pen until you can retrieve it, may have their cows serviced free of charge." Lord Vegeta proclaimed.

The two servants nodded as one to Lord Vegeta satisfied with his decision. Vegeta was also pleased with his Father's fairness in the way he dealt with his people. In was one of the few times Vegeta ever saw him show any sort of sense. He only attended these audiences to better develop his own skills. Sometimes his Father he asked his opinion and even let him decide on minor grievances.

He knew it was already way past dinner time, but his Father never stopped until he had seen everyone who had traveled hear to see him. The room had stained glass windows that reflected the red light of the setting sun. He thought of Bulma and wondered what she was doing right now. He couldn't believe that she asked him to return to her. She usually acted so timid whenever he had made any sort of overture to her in the past. Maybe it was the fight with Valeria that brought it out.

Speaking of that fool, she and her parents quickly packed and left. There were no hard feelings from either of her parents. They acted as if they didn't care whether Valeria mated or not. Lady Rouhani said as much when she thanked Bulma.

"Yes, my lord. Everything went smoothly as usual," the voice snapped Vegeta out of his daydreaming. He looked to see Nappa bowed before his Father, a few sacks arrayed at his feet displaying various sorts of goods.

"Yes, I see," Lord Vegeta got up from his seat on the dais to examine the contents of one of the bags. "You always do such an excellent job when I send you to collect taxes." After finishing his inspection he returned to his seat. "I suppose you'll want your usual reward?" Lord Vegeta asked.

"If I may, my lord?" Nappa asked, bowing deeply.

Lord Vegeta nodded in ascent.

"Thank you, my lord! I'll leave these and the others with your estate manager." Nappa gathered up the sacks and bowed again before leaving.

While the room was still empty Vegeta asked, "The usual reward?" with a raised eyebrow.

"Hmm? Oh, yes," Lord Vegeta responded, lost in his own thoughts. "Nappa greatly enjoys the company of my ladies, so I will occasionally reward him with his choice of one for the evening."

Vegeta looked at his Father askance. His Father actually let that monster of a man `use' his women? He almost felt pity for the poor female in question, but only for a moment.

`Well, I don't care what he does as long as he doesn't mess with my woman,' he thought. He knew Bulma would send him away without a second thought. She had expressed her dislike quite vocally ever since they had bumped heads after her arrival.

The herald at the other end of the room announced, "The next petitioner is ready if you are, my lord."

"Send them in," he replied.

Vegeta was beginning to pray that this would be over soon. Maybe he would get a chance to see Bulma before it got too late.

~~~~~~~~~~Several hours later~~~~~~~~~~
By the time they finished seeing everyone, it was after midnight. Vegeta had been standing so long, he wasn't sure if he would be able to move. He tried stretching a little before moving and watched as his Father did the same.
"Well! I don't think I've sat in that chair that long since we first arrived here," said Lord Vegeta. Vegeta simply grunted in response. He was in no mood to make conversation with his Father. "I guess I'll see you when I see you when I see you, since I'm sure you won't be joining me and my ladies for breakfast," his Father said.
"You can count on that," Vegeta said, descending from the dais and leaving.
"I wouldn't eat with my Father either if I had that blue-haired female to keep me warm," his Father said laughing.
Vegeta started to growl. "It's not even like that, Father."
That just made his Father laugh even harder. Vegeta left and slammed the door. `What does he know anyway?' he thought.
He got to his rooms and called for a bath. He hadn't been too active today, but he still bathed every evening. By the time he actually got in the tub of soothing, hot water, he was ready to pass out himself. Most of the cases brought before them today were as boring as porridge and only by thinking of Bulma was he able to keep himself upright.
`I wonder if she's still awake?' came across the exhaustion laced fog that was his mind. He sat up in the tub with a start. `She won't mind if I come to her this late, and there's always the possibility that she's awake anyway.'
At that thought Vegeta jumped out of the tub of tepid water and dried himself off. He was dressed in the blink of an eye. He was suddenly over came with a sense of urgency to get to her, as if he `felt' that something was wrong with her. He leaped from his balcony and changed to his hawk form and glided down to the lower floors and flew through a window nearest the harem.
He startled a servant who just happened to be going by, but he didn't bother to stop. He literally flew through the hallway until he came to the entrance doors. He didn't stop there either. He changed into his human form and burst through the doors his head protected with his arms, landing agilely on his feet. He looked around, trying to see if something wasn't as it should be.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!"
`Bulma!' he thought. He knew it was her screaming like he knew his name was Vegeta. He was running faster than he ever had and was at her room so quick, he didn't even remember the trip up. The first thing he saw was the blond girl from earlier lying on the floor a few feet away from Bulma's doorway. She was unconscious.
"GET OFF OF ME!"
Vegeta would later swear that all he saw was red and he didn't stop to think about anything that transpired. When he entered Bulma's room, he saw the dark haired girl that had yelled at him before also unconscious against the wall. But what angered him the most was the sight of his woman, clothing halfway shredded, pinned to the wall by her throat by Nappa.
Neither of them had noticed him there yet. The fear in her eyes made him struggle to react, the anger that was building up inside froze him to the spot for a moment.
"When………..when Vegeta………..finds………out, you'll be………..in………b-big………. .trouble," she managed to gasp out.
"Ha! That little runt won't do anything! I'll have you and show you what a real man is like!"
Vegeta didn't want to listen to another word. He seized Nappa by the neck and pulled him off of Bulma. He had let go of her in surprise and they both finally saw him for the first time.
"Vegeta," She breathed in surprise and relief.
"VEGETA!" Nappa screamed in surprise and fear.
"That's right," Vegeta said full of false calm. "Now…………get out of here."
Vegeta's fist connected with Nappa's face and he flew back with enough force to not only carry him across the room, but through the wall and over the railing outside. The thud below could be heard from Bulma's room.
Vegeta didn't care. His eyes were only for Bulma.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Vegeta!" Bulma cried out and rushed into his arms. He folded her into his arms and held her tightly, only now just beginning to shake from thinking of what could have happened to her. She began crying into his shirt. "I thought…………I thought he was going to………….going to…………..," she stuttered.
"Shh," he told her soothingly, "You're safe now. I promise he'll never bother you again," He stroked her hair trying to further calm her.
They stood like that for a while before Bulma remembered her friends. "Oh, no! Chi Chi! Eighteen!" she tore herself from Vegeta's arms and ran to Chi Chi who still was lying against the wall, out cold.
"Chi Chi? Chi Chi, wake up!" Bulma shook her a little, hoping to rouse her into consciousness. "This is all my fault! If they hadn't tried to protect me this wouldn't have happened."
"Bulma," Vegeta said interrupting her with a hand on her shoulder, "I think she's going to be out for a while. I'll send a physician to care for them. Come." He pulled her up from her friend and after a moment of thought lifted her into his arms.
"Hey! What are you doing? I can't just leave them here!" she struggled a little, but because she was already worn out from a lack of nourishment and from trying to fend off Nappa, she really couldn't do anything against him.
"Woman………….Bulma, you've over taxed yourself enough as it is. Let someone else handle this," he coaxed her.
Bulma was uncertain about what to do. Vegeta was right, she was exhausted, but she didn't want to just leave her friends. "Can we at least wait until someone comes?" she pleaded.
He looked on the verge of saying no, but he already knew he would never be able to deny her anything. "Wait here," he told her and let her down on her bed. He started to leave, but stopped. "Don't worry. I won't be too far."
She simply nodded and sat back to wait.
Vegeta shook his head at the damage to her wall. There was no way she could stay here anymore. He then looked below the missing railing to see Nappa lying below, not moving an inch. He wasn't dead, but he'd be out a lot longer than Bulma's friends would be and he'd be in a hell of a lot more pain.
A few of the other women came out to see what had happened. Some stood a few cautious feet away from Nappa, concerned yet not enough so to check on him.
"You there!" Vegeta yelled to one of the females below. She wasn't one of the harem women, more likely a maid, and would be acceptable to go fetch a physician. "Go and get the physician! Have him come up here immediately. He's is not to touch that fool below. Do you understand?"
The girl quickly curtseyed and said, "Yes, Master Vegeta," before running off on her assigned task. In no time she was back with the physician, an elderly Kylarian of indeterminate years, but he still did his job well even though he was training a replacement. He looked over both of the fallen females, examining them thoroughly and after not finding so much as a bump on the head, he proclaimed them to be alright and that they would awaken soon enough.
Vegeta himself moved them into their rooms and left them on their beds. When he returned to Bulma, the physician had already left and she was sitting on her own bed, staring at the huge whole in her wall.
"What am I going to do? I can't sleep in here with that," she said pointing at the wall.
"I already know that." Vegeta picked her up again. "That's why you're coming with me."
"Wait! Coming with you where?" she asked skeptically.
"To my rooms, of course. There's no other place safer for you." He had taken her out of her room and down the stairs. Nappa was still on ground and still hadn't moved.
"WHAT? I can't stay in your rooms. What will people say?"
"The same things they have already been saying," he countered.
She didn't have a defense on that one. Bulma knew that everyone thought that she was just Vegeta's personal concubine and that the servant thing was just an act. Only the two of them knew differently. They made it to his rooms without incident. He carried her to his bedroom and laid her on his bed.
"You want me to sleep here?" she asked nervously.
"Woman, if it makes you feel any better I'll have you know that I have no intention of sharing the bed with you."
"Oh."
Did he detect a hint of disappointment in her voice?
"I'll sleep in the outer chamber. I don't need a bed. Any place I can put my head down will do," he turned to leave her in the chamber alone now.
"Vegeta, wait," she called him. Maybe she wanted him to stay after all? He turned back to her. "Thank you. You know, for everything."
He just grunted in response and left the room closing the door behind him. Somehow that `thank you' made him feel a lot happier than her asking to him to sleep with her. He went to the window seat that he stored some of his things under and sat on that. He leaned back against one of the alcove walls and stared at the sky beyond. It was late, but it would be morning soon and a brand new day for the both of them. He just hoped things would go they way he wished they would.
~~~~~~~~~~Back in the Bedroom~~~~~~~~~~

Bulma took off her tattered clothing amazed that it hadn't fallen off of her already. She slid under the blanket, sure that Vegeta would not come and peep in on her before she woke up. She looked out the window to see the moon still shining brightly in the night sky. She couldn't put in the words the feeling that came over her when Vegeta appeared earlier. She was sure that she was about to be raped even when Chi Chi and Eighteen had appeared to try and save her. She knew she wouldn't be able to protect herself because she was still worn out. All she could do was pray for help or at least scream for it. She hadn't known whether or not any of the other women would come to help her, nor did she expect Vegeta to show up.

`How did he know I needed him?' she thought.

That was puzzling, although, she was wishing for him. `No matter,' she thought as sleep was coming in to claim her. There was a slight uneasiness still remaining, but just thinking of Vegeta in the front room, knowing he would protect her, was enough to help her sleep.

AAWWWW

Wasn't that so sweet?

I know this chapter may have seemed a little odd and out of place, but I needed a way to `sneak' Bulma into Vegeta's bed without jumping into a lemon just yet. I thought it was pretty original way to go about.

Coming soon…………….

Here Comes Goku,

Lemon Meringue Pie,
