"Kakarot, what are you doing?" There was no hint of anger in his tone, except maybe a little bit of sadness. Again, strange.

"You were off in your own little world 'Geta...Oh I mean Vegeta" I duck my head, hoping that he wont yell at me, although I still have my hand placed on his shoulder. "And I was trying to snap you out of it. Sorry..."

"Fine... Now lets get to it" I watch as Vegeta raises his own hand to mine, grasps it then leads it down off of his shoulder.

I couldn't believe it. He was being so gentle... I thought he would have flinched and pushed me off him, maybe there is a chance after all.......

CHAPTER THREE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***VEGETA'S POV***
Damn... I can't believe I just did that, and that baka... I know he knows there's something wrong. I will *NOT* discuss it with him! I have not, and will not, talk about my past...
Yet... I can't help but feel comforted my his hand on my shoulder, Kakarot has such a positive aurora. It used to sicken me, but now I think it calms me. I gently pull his hand off me "Fine...Now lets get to it!"
A spar is defiantly what I need right now, and as much as I hate to admit it, this fool is the only other capable of giving me what I want.
I fall into my fighting stance, and he follows suit. As usual, he makes no attempt at a first move knowing that I take pleasure from beginning. And that I do. I launch myself towards him, towards that smirk that he had plastered on his face. Damn, he knows damn well I hate it when he acts like this! I hate being mocked! But I have to give it to Kakarot, he knows how to piss me off, and when I'm pissed off I seem to fight with more heat and prowess.
I raise my left fist, but instead strike with my left boot catching him off guard. Kakarot retaliates quickly elbowing me in the side, knocking most of the wind out of my chest. Leaving me no time for recovery he slams his knee into my gut and I can't help but let out a 'oomph' as he does so. I swivel in the air and punch him square in his thick head. The blow doesn't faze him. He shoots from my sight and I can't tell where he has gone.
"Kakarot you coward! Come out here and face me!" I scream into what seems like emptiness. Then I feel a sharp pain in my neck as Kakarot whacks me in the neck. I fight off unconsciousness and without further ado, transform into Super Saiya-jin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

***Goku' s POV***

I watch as he transforms. This time I have not gone easy on him, which I know he appreciates. Ha... he thinks I am running from our fight, I thought he knew me better than that! I re-appear, also transformed. We stare each other down before both moving at eye deceiving speeds. Punches land, kicks connect and slowly but surely we get more battered as time goes on.

After a few more minutes, I deposit my shirt and weighted training articles and resume my stance. Vegeta strips his spandex shirt, and also tosses it to the ground. Our chests are heaving slightly, our blood hot with the anticipation of a good fight. I can see the glimmer in his eyes, a glimmer that only shows its self when we battle... I remember seeing it during our first fight.

**Goku's thoughts while in the Grasp of Oozaru Vegeta**

His eyes were squinted, glaring down his opponent. Me. I could see the superiority on his proud royal face. A look that could scare even the most hideous of opponents. But not me. The look drove me wild. I had to see more of it, to fuel it, to know what it was the he was feeling. It brought the curiosity out of me. I had to know what was behind that look. It made me lust battle... I felt an incredible urge inside of me to fight, to win, to dominate... Or at least combat for dominance... I felt my Saiyan heritage awaken within me, it was something unexplainable. A heat burned inside of me, rising from deep inside to radiate around me. Power... The power had me... I knew this fight would be historical... Saiya-jin against Saiya-jin...

***************************************************** ***********

And there it was again... The unmistakable gleam of pure happiness. A happiness that can only be fulfilled through a good battle, a happiness that can only be fulfilled by me...

***Vegeta's POV***

I can see him reading my thoughts, thinking about things... Kakarot should know better than to do that when apposing me. Yet I can't seem to force my body to move, to attack. It seems that I am waiting for him to move, and I don't know why. I think I am curious to know what he is going to do. We stand and stare, yet again. Eye to eye, Saiya-jin to Saiya-jin.

Then the fool does something unexpected. He relaxes from his stance and just hovers there in the air, a look on confusion on his stupid face.

Fool!

"Kakarot! What are you doing! Fight me!" I yell at him and power up a little.

"Vegeta... Is it just because we are Saiya-jin that we lust a good fight?" His question startles me.

"What!? Yes of course it is! Baka, it is in our blood to fight you already know that! Now stop this pathetic womanly chit-chat and fight me!" It irritates me when he'd rather talk than fight.

"Oh... Ok... Is that also why I feel something for you that I feel for no-one else?" Goku asked Vegeta dumbly, while scratching the nape of his neck in his usual fashion.

"Kakarot! What are you talking about? No, forget it! I don't want to hear it! For the last time, FIGHT ME!" I roar and connect a fist with his unguarded cheek. It barely even does any damage. This enrages me and I kick him a number of times. Finally Kakarot realises that I am not going to cease my onslaught and attacks me fast and hard.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three hours later and we are both finally exhausted. We lay there, backs on the ground, faces staring in the clear blue sky. There was no sound, aside from the slight rustling of the trees in the wind and the chatter of boisterous birds. Then the calmness was abruptly disturbed by a deep growling. I turn to my side and look at the perpetrator. Kakarot.
***Goku's POV***
I could feel my stomach building something spectacular up. Then it struck. I could almost feel the ground move beneath me! I noticed Vegeta's head swing my way and glare at me. I give him a shy smile.
"Ahh... 'Geta, I think we missed lunch!" I laugh softly at my own words and bodily functions. He just turns his head back around, not even making a sound.
"Well if you want, I can take us back to Capsule Corp. But I was thinking of camping out tonight. For some reason I have this urge to stay outside. I'm going to the lake if you want to come, there are heaps of good fish in there!" I smile to his back. I didn't really expect any sort of civilised reply and when it came, I would have fallen over if I wasn't already lying down.
"Fine. Take us to the lake then."
***Vegeta's POV***
For some absurdly strange reason, the thought of staying outdoors tonight seemed appealing. Even if it was with Kakafool. I think lying here staring up the sky and the shine of the distant stars and planets, made me crave it.
"Fine. Take us to the lake then." I knew my answer would stun him. Even Kakarot is not THAT stupid.
I stand and turn around to face him. He is just lying there with a really perplexed look on his face, then without warning it turns into one of his broadest Son smiles. This time I can tell its genuine.
"Well hurry up baka, before I change my mind." This gets him moving and in a flash he is by my side preparing to instant transmission us to the lake.
~
But it never happens.
~
"Kakarot! What are you waiting for?" I question him.
"Uhh I think I better tell Chi-Chi where I'm going tonight. She might not want me to go..." He trailed off.
"Kakarot, are you telling me that you let this woman take control of your life?" I asked, honestly bewildered.
"No Vegeta... That's not it, its just that she might get mad and uh... worry about me." He added, a little sheepishly.
"Worry about a Saiya-jin!? Don't be foolish, let the banshee worry!" I cant believe this, a Saiya-jin warrior being dictated to by a mere earthling woman. I then decided this conversation was pointless. "Fine, do what you have to do, just hurry up and do it!'.
"Thanks 'Geta!" He cries out. I was about to open my mouth to curse at him but the sudden rush of air silenced me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

***Goku's POV***

Vegeta just doesn't understand. Its not that Chi-Chi is controlling me, its just that I have enough respect for her that I tell her where I am going because believe it or not she does worry about me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Vegeta has no respect for others, i think its just that he doesn't feel the need to broadcast to the whole world what he is doing.

"Thanks 'Geta!" I almost yell before I instant transmission us to just outside my house. I did it quick because I knew he would have a come back for me calling him 'Geta.

~*~*~*~*~SON RESIDENSE~*~*~*~*~*~

The forest was peaceful, the feint murmur of insects beginning to fill the darkening atmosphere known as dusk. It was beautiful. The clear sky glimmering with all its splendour inviting you to gaze up in glorious wonder.

"Hurry up" The two simple words come to me as a rude awakening, startling me out of my pleasant day dream.

I walked up to the door and slipped in quietly. Chi-Chi didn't even notice me. It wasn't until Gohan yelled out 'dad' that she realised I was there.

"Son Goku! Where have you been eh? Well hurry to the bathroom and get cleaned up now, dinners almost ready" She ordered the burly Saiya-jin, who at the moment didn't seem too interested in fulfilling her instructions immediately.

"Well? What are you waiting for? A written invitation? I will not allow you at this table all dirty as you are! Now get going!" She stared at his unmoving figure blankly, with and almost puzzled look on her stern features.

"Sorry Chi, I know you went to a lot of trouble, but I wont be eating tonight. I'm staying out this evening..."

"Where you going dad? Can I come?" Gohan asked eagerly.

"Sorry son, I don't think so. Stay here and take care of your mother ok? I'll be back tomorrow. Oh and don't let any of your mothers cooking go to waste ok?" Goku smiled at his son, who in turn seemed pleased that he would be getting his fathers share of the food as well as his own.

I walked over to Chi-Chi who still hadn't moved and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow. Bye! Bye Gohan!" Without giving either of them a chance to respond I IT outta there, and reappeared outside right in front of Vegeta startling him slightly.

"BAKA! Don't do that!" I'm guessing he would have yelled at me if my house wasn't in such close proximity.

"Sorry..." I apologise. I was about to raise my hand to his shoulder when he placed his own gloved hand on mine. It felt nice since he was being gentle, I could really get used to this!

"Alright, ready?" I ask, delaying time a little.

"Of course I am!" He snaps at me, although I can tell its a half hearted attempt to sound pissed.

~*~*~*~*~*~THE LAKE~*~*~*~*~*~

We appear at the lake and startle a few innocent animals as we do. Without wanting to waste anytime, I begin to strip my clothes as I head towards the water. A nice swim is just what I need... Plus I do kinda want to eat so I better try to catch some fish while I'm at it. I sense that Vegeta is still unmoving and turn to face him, standing in only my orange GI pants.

"Are you coming or not 'Geta? I mean you do know what I am like when it comes to food, and I'm afraid that I wont be able to share with you..." I begin to tease him. God I love seeing that look of bafflement on his fine features. "So you will have to catch your own food" I finish and can't help breaking out in a huge playful grin. I don't know what has come over me. I would never usually act this way around Vegeta, I'm usually more subdued and withheld. Not tonight though! I feel like stirring him up a little.

"So you want to play that way Kakarot? Fine, I'm in." Vegeta begins to get undressed too and I feel the excitement well up inside of me. Once he was down to his pants, he paused and finally realised that I had been staring. To try to avoid an embarrassing moment I spin around and rid myself of my pants and dive into the lake. The water was cold, just the way I like it. Nice and refreshing.

***Vegeta's POV***

I knew Kakarot was a fool with half a brain, but I didn't know he could be this childish. Have I been mistaken about him? He was always the one to make everyone laugh, not because he had good jokes, but because of his harmless stupidity. I knew he was always happy, with the exception of the odd occasion when he actually appeared troubled and sad, but never have I known him to act this way, especially in front of me. Anyway, unbeknown why to me, I actually feel I can tolerate it.

He was staring at me. Just standing there with a look of nothingness on his face, I could not read his thoughts. Once he noticed he was staring he turned around, finished stripping and I was left with his retreating rear facing me as he plunged into the lake. Not wanting to waste anymore time, I too finished stripping and entered the water. I can definitely see why he likes it here, the water is good, just how I like it, cold.

NARRATOR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Both Saiya-jin swam around to their own hearts content, until the larger, younger Saiya-jin decided he couldn't contain his hunger any longer.
"Hey, 'Geta, seen any goodies around?" He asked while treading water, causing slight ripples to form on the crystal surface.
"Hn. Over there" He pointed towards a deeper part of the huge lake, which was surrounded by smooth water worn down rocks. Vegeta knew exactly what Goku was talking about, fish, as he too felt the familiar pang of hunger in his gut.
"Great! I'll race ya there!" Goku cried as he dived down and began to swim.
"Fine, but don't expect to win Kakarot!" Vegeta replied, unintentionally showing some excitement in his tone.
Goku and Vegeta raced the short length and come out even, their breathing not even altered form the sudden exercise.
"Next time Kakarot" Vegeta said before diving down under the surface in search of fish.
***GOKU'S POV***
I can't believe I'm having this much fun with Vegeta! But the funny thing is, its not just me whose having all the fun! He is too! It's good to know that Vegeta is actually enjoying himself, I know he doesn't really get the chance I mean with all the training he does day in and day out.
I duck-dived down under the surface and came face to face almost immediately with a nice big fish. I sped towards it and was about to hit it over the head when a bright light distracted me. I watched at the fine streak glided easily through the water and pierced the fish right between the eyes. Damn Vegeta! I bet he knew I was going for that one!
Then I saw him. Motionless in the water, his arms crossed and the typical smirk set firmly in place. Yet his whole demeanour seemed different.
I know what it is! The thought struck me pretty quick, surprising myself.
He's relaxed. His smirk looks almost like a small grin in some ways. Its his eyes too. They aren't hard and squinted, they are open and bright.
His eyes are smiling. Smiling at me.
I can't help but break out into a smile of my own at the sight, even though he just stole the only fish in this lake capable of sating my hunger. Looks like he'll have to share now! Oh well he never said he wouldn't share with me.
***VEGETA'S POV***
Look at him go, headed right for the big one. Not so fast though, I am not allowing him the satisfaction of him seeing me practically begging for food off him! Which is what I'll probably have to do, considering this fish seems to be the only one near its size. All the rest are puny in comparison.
I raise my hand, not bothering to chase the creature, and fire a single small blast from the tip of my finger. I am accurate as always and hit my target right between the eyes, just where I aimed for. I see the disappointed look on Kakarot's face, and it pleases me. I think it actually makes me happy. He looks defeated for a second, then looks at me. His face changes, and he looks like he always does; a stupid grin on a stupid overly happy face. Yet this time I feel no anger, nothing. No wait, I do feel something... I feel... I feel... I feel like I want to never leave that dim-witted expression...
