Chapter 7
After school was out Goku was in the locker room changing for practice when he looked out the small window in the door and saw Chi chi head for the bleachers. He grinned and pushed the door open intent on going to see her. He was stopped when one of his team mates grabbed his shoulder. "Hey Goku how'd it go the other night?"
Goku turned back to him and nodded. "Fine."
His friend gave him a confused look and asked, "Just, fine. How was it really?"
Goku just stared at him. "Well...nothing happed." He said honestly.
His friend just stared at him blankly. "You mean you didn't get laid!?" He asked.
Goku scratched his head beginning to feel nervous. "No...I"
"Oh, come on man! You didn't chicken out did you?"
"Well she's not as easy as she looks!" Goku said exasperatedly trying to cover.
"Alright then are you going to try again?"
"Well, I, uh..."
"Oh come on Goku I know you can do it. Your reputation is at stake here."
"I know, I know."
"So you'll do it. Look if you need help in persuading her I could...."
"No. No I think I can handle it." Goku felt like a real jerk. He didn't want to hurt Chi chi, but he knew that if he didn't do it then he would lose his hard won reputation. When his friend had offered to help he felt jealousy and rage sweep over him like he didn't want anyone else going near Chi chi. He sighed forlornly and walked out of the locker room not as enthusiastic as he had been before. Chi chi saw him coming and she felt a shiver of anticipation run up her spine. She had been waiting all weekend to talk to him today and she could hardly contain her happiness.
He saw her and gave a weak smile grabbing her hands as he whispered, "Hi."
"Hi." She said back. "What's wrong?" She asked noticing his saddness.
"Oh it's nothing. Just pressure that's all."
"Sorry." She whispered.
"No it's not your fault." Goku quickly changed the subject, "So what are you doing tomorrow night?" He asked.
"I have karate class, but I'll be free at seven." She said happily.
"Alright where should I pick you up?"
"How about we meet at the park we were at the other night. I have a surprise for you!" She teased giddily.
"Really? I can't wait." He said giving his best smile even though his friend's words still rung in his head. He quickly blocked it out and leaned down to capture her lips in a tender kiss.
She kissed him back awed by his tenderness. She just about melted into his arms. She had never been one to fall so easily for a man, but she was drawn to him like a moth to the flame. Goku pulled her gently back and whispered. "I have to go."
Chi chi nodded in understanding and slowly sauntered off. Goku watched her go and all he wanted was to run after her, to revel in the sweet haven of her company, to forget about all the family and peer pressures and just be with her. He scratched and shook his head pondering about what he'd gotten into.
At the same time Vegeta was hiding in the shadows outside the locker rooms. He had a plan to get Bulma back for her humiliation earlier that day. He waited until Bulma came out for cheerleading. He quickly cornered her. He leaned against the wall blocking the way and smirked. "Hey Princess." He said in an evil tone.
Bulma unconciously shivered. Her friends all gave him disgusted looks and maneuvered around him. Bulma just stood there glaring at him. "Why is it wherever I go you show up?" She asked in irritation.
Vegeta leaned in closer to her and whispered. "Well you felt for yourself how I feel about you so doesn't it make sense that I would stalk you." He gave her a sly grin showing his glistening sharp pearly whites.
She took an involuntary step back and Vegeta took this chance, he stepped up and pulled her roughly to him. She squirmed and sneered at him. “Let me go!” She growled beating his chest with her free hand. He quickly grabbed it and held it to her side.
“What’s wrong? I thought with all the trouble you went through this morning you’d want this.” He hissed in her ear as he licked her lobe. She jumped at the sensation and unknowingly arched against him. He chuckled darkly in her ear as he took her lips forcefully in her own before she could protest. She was stunned by the kiss, but strangely she was not compelled to push him away. The hot scorching intensity his mouth created caused her to melt into his arms. He ravished her mouth and she let him.
Vegeta smirked through the kiss, ‘Putty in my hands.’ He thought as he thoroughly enjoyed the softness of her mouth. They both knew they were enjoying the kiss entirely too much.
Then Yamcha walked passed as directed to by Vegeta’s lackies. They had stolen his car keys and threw them right into the hall where Vegeta and Bulma were. Yamcha picked up the keys and looked up to see his girlfriend lip locking with the school’s biggest bad ass. His blood began to boil and as if on cue Vegeta let up for air. Bulma was leaning against him on weak knees her breathing ragged and her cheeks red with passion. Vegeta grinned at her. “What is going on!?” Yamcha shouted.
Bulma’s head shot around to stare blankly at him. She tried to push herself away from Vegeta, but he held her tightly in place. “Yamcha...”
“No! I don’t want to hear your excuses Bulma! We’re finished!” Yamcha shouted as he turned ready to stomp away broken hearted when he heard Vegeta, “No thanks Bulma, even if your boyfriend doesn’t give you what you need I’m not a play boy.” Yamcha shook his head and stomped off slamming the door as he left.
Vegeta finally let Bulma go and she stared at the door where Yamcha had left. She spun to see Vegeta smirking. “You! You! Bastard!” She threw a punch at him which he expertly caught and pulled her towards him. “You did this on purpose! You’ve ruined my relationship and my reputation!” She hissed in his face.
“Hey! What goes around comes around Princess.” He roughly pushed her away and walked off. Bulma just stood there staring as he walked away leaving her alone in the dark hallway. She was at a loss, he had just ruined her with one kiss. A kiss that still lingered on her lips and left her yearning for more. She touched her lips and her mind was a wash with confusion.
She sat on the bleachers after practice and thought about it. ‘I should hate him. It’s only logical, but I don’t.’ She found herself thinking listlessly of how he spoke and moved with such predatory grace that she would melt. His eyes would penetrate her soul and she felt naked under his gaze. Then she thought of the kiss. A strange heat enveloped her whole body and she shook at the realization. She threw her head into her hands and sighed. ‘Oh gods! I want him!’
18 waited impatiently under the bridge. This had been her favorite place to train when she was younger. She smiled as she thought of how much fun her Chi chi and Krillin used to have. She sighed in nostalgia before she heard footsteps. There stood Krillin his arms crossed glaring irritatedly at her. “So, what’s the deal?” He asked.
18 jumped up and stalked towards him. “I’m sick of you getting on my case!”
“If you don’t like it stop bullying my friends!” Krillin snapped.
“I can’t do that!”
“Yes you can!” Krillin’s serious tone made 18 freeze he never sounded this way unless something was really bothering him.
“I know you’re better than this Juu! The only thing stopping you from being a good student, a good person, is your pride and temper!”
18 just stared at the ground. "You don't know me anymore Krillin." She said sullenly.
Krillin just stared at her, sadness and rage overcoming him. "You're right. I don't know you. I wonder if anyone really does!" He hissed caustically. 18 just continued to stare at the ground her blue eyes becoming glassy with unshed tears.
Krillin began to walk away, but he stopped for a moment and turned back to her. "If you ever feel like telling someone what you're all about, my door is open."
18 looked up in surprise at his kindness, but he was already gone, walking back up the hill. She bit her lip and slumped to the ground. She began to cry silently. "How do I show you I care?" She asked herself. She knelt there for hours thinking about her past mistakes and what she wanted out of her future. When the sun began to disappear behind the sky line she rose and trudged home. She lived in the nice residential area of West City. She opened the door to her house and looked around the immaculate living room. After listening for a minute she knew her dad wasn't home. She threw off her boots and jacket before heading off to take a shower. As the water caressed her back she sighed. She wanted to be with Krillin, but he was asking her to give up her way of life, and that was something she just couldn't do. She liked hanging out with her band mates. She liked everything about being in the B crowd, the clothes, the people, but she couldn't have the one thing she wanted, Krillin.
She knew that deep down she loved him, but that seemed like too much to hope for at the moment. She put on a grey tank top and some flannel pajama bottoms and sat on her bed as she listened to the radio. She closed her eyes absorbed in thought and when she opened them her gaze fell on an old photograph. She picked it up and stared at it. It was a picture of her first belt test. She stood next to Krillin and Chi chi as they all grinned happily for the camera. Master Roshi was in the background smiling proudly at them. He would always say they were his best students. 18 smiled. They had been best friends then, before she made the mistake of losing her temper. 'You must learn self control.' She remebered Roshi's words, still fresh in her mind after five years. Then she knew what she had to do. She put the photo under her pillow as she lay down to sleep. As she drifted off to sleep she knew what to do. She would learn self control and when Krillin's affections that way. Every time someone did something to anger her she would just pretend it was Krillin and she wouldn't have a problem.
