Chapter 8

Seven pm the next day Goku stood in the middle of the park waiting for Chi chi. He was fidgeting nervously. His friends expected him to sleep with her. They only saw this as a game, but Goku saw it as more than that. Even if they were forbidden to be together he wasn't sure he could let her go. He didn't want to hurt her.

Chi chi came skipping down the path. She smiled when she saw him, her smile sweeping away everything accept her from Goku's mind. He smiled back and she hugged him. "Sorry I'm a little late. Class ran over."

"No problem. So what's this big surprise?" He asked.

She grabbed his hand. "Follow me." Chi chi lead him into the wooded area of the park. They walked for a bit before they emerged onto the shore of the park's lake. There a picnic was set up with candles and everything, all set in the perfect direction to see the commercial part of West City all lit up against the night sky. Chi chi grinned at him as she pulled him down to sit by her on the blanket. Goku was amazed by everything. He sniffed the air when he smelled the food and she opened the basket to reveal a big spread of food. "I made it myself." She said blushing.

"It smells great." Goku replied. Chi chi laughed shyly and went about filling the plates. They talked during the meal and after Chi chi put everything back in the basket she was surprised when Goku wrapped his arm around her waist and slowly pulled her to him until her back rested against his chest. She blushed and smiled up at him. He grinned back and she relaxed in his embrace. They lay there on the blanket just staring at the city. Goku kissed her head and ran his hand through her hair lovingly. Chi chi sighed contentedly as she caressed his arm.

They were silent for a long time before Goku spoke. He had thought hard about his options and decided he would tell his friends the bet was off. His feelings for Chi chi were too deep, he would never be able to hurt her. There was only one thing in this world that he really wanted and the world be damned he would have it. "Chi chi?"

"Uh huh."

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

Chi chi was shocked but she slowly turned her head to stare at him. "Really?" She asked. She wanted to say yes so badly, but she knew that them being together might ruin his reputation.

"Of course."

"But Goku we can't we're not from the same world, you could lose your rep..." Before she could finish. Goku silenced her with a kiss. Then he whispered. "I don't care, I want to be with you, no matter what."

Chi chi smiled in absolute rapture. She was ready to throw all rationale to the wind. She loved him and the rest of the world be damned she was going to be with him. She nodded. Goku grinned. "Is that a yes?"

"Yes." She laughed.

"Thank the gods." Goku whispered before he claimed her mouth with a passionate kiss. Chi chi kissed him back and reveled in the feeling of his arms around her and the softness of his hair as she tangled her fingers in it. They kissed for what seemed like hours until finally the heat of their proximity was too much and Goku pulled away. "Well, I've got to go." He said breathlessly. Chi chi nodded. "I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked.

"I wouldn't miss it."

"I'll see you in first period." He winked at her and walked away. Chi chi watched him go and when he disappeared from sight she squealed in excitment. "Yes!"

The next day was Wednesday. The day started out pretty regular for 18, she was still hanging with the same crowd. Everything went fine until second period. Some new kid had taken her usual seat and Turles chuckled under his breath thinking that she would smoke the girl for that, but 18 just took a different seat. Turles's jaw dropped and he couldn't believe she hadn't killed her. "Hey 18 aren't you going to do something about that upstart?"

18 didn't respond and Turles was taken a back by her attitude.

For the rest of the week 18 didn't beat anyone up and when her friends asked what her problem was she ignored them, even when Turles got in her face she didn't react. Vegeta could tell 18 had something very important on her mind so he let her be. He had his own business to attend to. He delighted in tormenting Bulma.

After Yamcha caught them kissing he had broken up with her and if that wasn't bad enough, the word about their kiss got around school and everyone whispered about her. She had convinced most that she was forced into it by Vegeta, but there were still those with doubts. Everywhere Bulma went he was there, just staring at her.

She could feel his hungry gaze from across a room. She was afraid, but also very turned on. Whenever she caught him staring she would see a look of lust in his eyes and she wasn't sure if it was faked for effect or if it was real. She spent many nights lying awake thinking about him.

Vegeta was like the essence of darkness. He was forboding yet tempting. She couldn't get that kiss out of her head. She had melted so perfectly into his body. She knew it was wrong, but she wanted him. She wanted him so bad she would give up everything for just one more taste of him, but would one taste be enough? She growled as she slammed a pillow into her face. "I have to know what goes on in his head!" She knew she was beautiful and that she could easily tempt any man to sin, but she wanted to know Vegeta's mind as well as his body. She wanted to know if he actually saw something in her or if she was nothing more than a shiny toy for him to play with, just like all the other men in her life. 'This could take some finesse...' She thought as a plan began to form in her mind.

It was Saturday and Vegeta and his band were gearing up for their gig that night. They played regular Saturday nights at the 'Off Topic', a big night club for those of the B crowd. The rehearsal wasn't going very well. "Turles would you get with the fucking program!" Vegeta growled angrily.

"Sorry boss."

"That's the third song you've screwed up! What is wrong with you?"

Turles took his bass guitar off and sat down hard on the leather couch in their practice room. He glared at 18 who stood their glaring at him the microphone still in her hand. "What's your problem?" He asked 18.

18 sighed exasperatedly. "I'm not the one with a problem, Turles you can't remember the music!" She snapped angrily.

"No! You've lost your edge 18 you're not the same! You never beat up on people anymore!" Turles got in her face and she just growled pushing him back. "Look if you really want me to beat up on someone, how about I beat up on you!?"

"Enough!" Vegeta roared. They both shut up and stared annoyed at the floor.

"What 18's up to is her own business. As long as it doesn't interfere with practice!" He growled with emphasis as he shot daggers at Turles with his eyes. "Understood!?"

"Yeah boss." They both chimed in.

"Now then let's do this right!" With the argument quickly dismissed they went back to practicing. Their band was everything to Vegeta. He loved to play and when he played he truly felt like himself, when he lost himself in the music no one judged him. Everything faded away, his father, his pressure as a street tough. It all fell away on stage. Little did Vegeta know that that night's gig was going to change his life more than he had imagined.

What will be different about this gig? Who will be there? I need more reviews before you find out!
