Author's Notes: This story is going to start out without any DBZ characters; they'll start appearing in the first real chapter. And I'll update you guys on the reasons behind each character's changes.

Prologue…

~ Nevada June 7, 2001 ~

Bright lights flickered in the distance, a warning that there was a large city ahead.

Headlights pierced the night as a large truck screamed around the corner of a lonely highway. Beer cans rattled in the bed of the Dodge Ram while three teenage boys laughed hysterically in the cab.

Another set of headlights appeared behind the truck while dual-flashing lights accompanied the wail of a siren. The police car bore down on the truck in an attempt to catch the three minors before they caused more damage.

The driver of the truck spied a pair of glowing eyes in front of them. Gunning the engine, he sped up to reach the animal in front of him…

Sgt. Jonas Martinez yelled in surprise as he watched the truck in front of him disappear abruptly. Slamming on the brakes, he spun wildly out of control before skidding to a stop, twenty feet from where the truck used to be. He scrambled out of the patrol car then flicked on his flashlight, scanning the area around him nervously. Shaking legs carried him forward while his eyes darted back and forth. He stopped where his tire tracks started then turned around, hearing a noise behind him…

~ Florida June 8, 2001 ~

A young couple walked along a path in a nature preserve, not far from the Everglades Swamp. They smiled at a warden the passed as they headed towards one of the many bridges located on the trail.

The warden, forgetting to tell them that the trail closed soon, ran after them then stopped when he hadn't caught up with them after a moment. He frowned then turned around, scratching his head in confusion. Looking back on the trail, he started down again then shrugged before heading towards his tower.

~ Kansas June 8, 2001 ~

A young woman was walking around in a large field then looked up in time to see a truck plummeting towards her.

The three guys in the truck looked at each other as they landed then started screaming, yelling, and cursing when the truck fell into the ground again…

~ Mississippi June 9, 2001 ~

A dark haired guy laughed maniacally as he gunned the engine of the swamp boat, causing his girlfriend to fall back in the boat. He flew along the murky waters at a high clip and swerved around large gators in his haste to reach the bayou.

A thick swirling fog appeared across the water in front of them. It swallowed them up, obscuring the boat completely from view…

~ Hawaii June 10, 2001 ~

Hot sun beat down on alabaster shores as a lone figure lounged in a chair. His lanky frame blanketed by a towel, was relaxed in slumber.

All along the beach, hordes of miniscule crustaceans fled towards the water as an immense tidal wave thundered towards the shore…

~ Oregon June 11, 2001 ~

Two teenagers were working diligently in a field…ok, they were actually chasing after what appeared to be a horse carrying a bone. They bowled the monstrous dog over and pinned it to the ground as the heavens above opened its abysmal maw and let loose a torrent of rain. Soon they were soaked to the skin and permeated with the aromatic pong of…ewww… Deciding to head home, they traversed over the fields.

Above them, a snakelike column of screaming, whirling, clouds arced towards them. They didn't even hear it coming…
