Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Sacrificing Love ❯ Chapter 9 ( Chapter 9 )
Disclaimer: So I don't own Dragonball Z. What else has gone wrong in the world?
Author's Note: Here is yet another chapter of Sacrificing Love. Um…I just want to tell you guys that my keyboard is being a bit bitchy and is making my "c" button freeze up, so I hope you can tell the difference between place and plae. My computer sometimes tests my patience…
Um…I also wanted to say that I'm starting a new fanfic…but this time I'm not going to write alone. I've teamed up with a writer that you might know as Auraki, or JungleKitty82. She's a great writer, and next to her, my writing looks like a joke. However, we are combining Dragonball Z and Final Fantasy VIII. The location of where we will post it is still undecided. But that project is underway.
I guess I shouldn't keep you. Here's chapter nine of:
Sacrificing Love
Chapter Nine: The Bargain
The soldier was frightened beyond belief. How in the world was he to deliver this message? He was the "lucky" one to be picked for this job, and not only did the message contain the worse possible news, but the person he was to give it to was known by all for his short temper. He just hoped that he wouldn't get shot through the chest for relaying the message.
He stumbled before the king. "…V-Vegeta-ou?"
King Vegeta hardly noticed the weak, cowering man that stood so unsteadily in front of him, but when he spoke in a scared pitch, he almost laughed. "What is it?"
"The hangar has announced that a ship is approaching. It was identified as Frieza's. We have only a couple of minutes before it lands."
The laughter in King Vegeta's eyes was extinguished. This was it. The moment of truth. Whether his people would live or die would be decided…by a prince who hadn't even reached the pinnacle of his destiny yet. King Vegeta rested his head in his hands. Frieza would tear them all into shreds. Then he remembered the third class warrior that had accomplished his son's goal. His mood perked up a bit. Perhaps they weren't as doomed as he thought. His eyes focused on the messenger.
"Get Kakarrot and bring him here." The man nodded and hurried out. The room was filled with silence. The occupants of the room turned towards the door, hoping to see their savior before their executioner. But they soon found out that they weren't that lucky.
"So," the albino lizard cooed as the doors burst open. "Where is my supposed slayer?"
The Saiyans scattered to the opposite side of the room, trying to get as far away from those ruby eyes as possible. King Vegeta rose from his throne, not showing a trace of the fear that he had experienced moments before. His posture remained cool and composed; many of his people were surprised that he could even maintain control at a time like this.
The doors flew open again, but this time revealing the prince and his own angry guard. Frieza turned around to greet them.
"Well, now which of you will be the one to die today?"
Kakarrot started to step forward but the prince's hand brought him to a halt. "Prince Vegeta…" he started.
"I did not go through three years of training just to be cast aside, to be called weaker than my own servant." Vegeta said, glaring at Kakarrot.
Kakarrot stared at the prince. How could he refuse? They had been off-planet for years, trying to get stronger for this particular moment. He had witnessed with his own eyes how the prince was constantly put through hell. Vegeta had more pride than anyone else that he knew, and he wasn't going to be the one to break it any further, even if he himself wanted revenge. Kakarrot nodded to the prince. "Good luck, Vegeta-ouji."
That was when the prince gave him his renowned smirk. "As if I needed your luck, third class." And with that, he took his place in front of Frieza and lowered himself into a fighting stance. "I'm ready when you are, Scaly."

He pressed the palm of his hand against the side of her face and looked deep into her eyes, as if he could see everything that she was thinking. "I'm stronger than you think, woman. But I will admit something to you that I will never say to you again in the future. You are the only thing that is decent in my life, and…I care for you greatly. Nothing will come to harm a hair on your head without me knowing and doing something about it. I promise you that."
"Bulma!"
She was shaken from her dream, and slowly she focused on the pair of two black eyes, filled with concern. "Chi Chi? What-What's wrong?"
"That evil white bastard's here. That's what's wrong!"
Bulma's half-conscious eyes filled with alertness. "Frieza?" She said in horror as her friend nodded. "Kami…Vegeta!" She hurriedly ran out of the room.

Vegeta grunted as he felt the pain of a kick hit his back. As he whirled around to try to counter with his right fist, he was greeted with air. `Where did he go?' He looked around to find his opponent, but couldn't see him or feel him. He might have been nowhere in sight, but he doubted that he had ran from their battle.
His instincts were right as he sensed a movement above him and threw up a ki shield as he saw a ki beam aimed for him, but the shield wasn't enough. Vegeta dodged the energy, but his right arm was caught in the beam, causing him to feel it go numb. He glanced up to see Frieza smiling down at him.
"I'm sorry, Saiyan. Did I cause that to happen to your arm?" he asked with fake innocence. "How callous of me." He chuckled before blinking out of sight again.
"Your disappearing acts won't work on me, you impudent lizard!" Vegeta shouted into the air, preparing himself for Frieza's next attack. However, he wasn't prepared to have his adversary materialize behind him and grab his shoulders.
"Who said I was disappearing?" Frieza asked before slamming his foot into his lower back and kicked him across the room. Vegeta collapsed headfirst on to the marble, not moving, except for his chest, panting for air.
Frieza landed on the floor. "My goodness, did I break him? Well, let me at least end his pathetic life."
"No. You will leave him alone." Kakarrot walked towards Frieza, throwing his cloak to the surface of the marble. "It's my turn now."

Bulma and Chi Chi entered through the side doors of the throne room, only to find that they had to part their way through a Saiyan crowd. "I can't see anything, can you?" Bulma asked her dark-haired friend.
"Hold on. Excuse me!" Chi Chi shouted as she plowed her way to the front, pulling Bulma with her. Her eyes flew onto the prince who lied on the floor, unconscious. "Bulma, I'm-" Chi Chi turned to her friend, who wasn't watching the same sight as she was. She followed her gaze to see her mate exchanging punches and kicks with the tyrant lizard. "Oh, no. Kakarrot…"

Kakarrot barely dodged Frieza's attacks. `Man, he's fast. It's no wonder how no one seems to be able to beat him.' He needed to get some space between them, so he could transform. Kakarrot landed a punch that knocked Frieza back a couple of feet. Releasing the rage he had pent up inside, he felt himself rapidly growing stronger as he felt the aura flow over him. He saw Frieza's look of shock as his hair turned to gold and the black from his eyes drained to a teal. "What's the matter, Frieza? Scared of the Legendary?"
"I am afraid of no one." Frieza said, narrowing his crimson eyes. He dematerialized, but Kakarrot was ready for him. He sent a blast in the air, right where Frieza had intended to reappear. It scorched his shoulder. "You're going to pay for that, monkey." he said in a deadly tone as he sent a blast of energy at him and disappeared. Kakarrot was ready to move, until he sensed Frieza's ki behind him. He felt the lizard's foot kick him towards the ki as the whitish-yellow energy hit him.
`He's too much.' Kakarrot thought as he felt himself plummeting to the ground. He fell on his hands and knees, his lungs trying to fill with air. Next to him, he heard Frieza land. "Insolent fool." Frieza said as he kicked Kakarrot in his stomach. "But strong, nevertheless." He smiled. "I will make a deal with you, Saiyan. I shall grant you your life, and Vegeta-sei will remain untouched by my hand if you were to swear your allegiance to me. I suddenly find myself having as soft spot for your kind."
Kakarrot took his words in. His whole planet depended on him. If he were to refuse, he and the rest of the planet's inhabitants would die. But joining the being that killed both his father and his brother made bile rise in his mouth. He looked over to the crowd of people, hoping that they had an answer. Then he saw Chi Chi, standing there with her hand over her mouth. He remembered the promise to himself that night, and knew what his answer had to be. He looked down to the green and gold marble. "I swear. My service and my allegiance…" He hated to lie, but he knew he must. "Are yours."
Frieza chuckled. "Wise choice." He then turned to King Vegeta. "It has been decided. I will leave this mudball alone, and this one…" he smirked. "Will serve me. I hope you all appreciate what this Saiyan has done for you, because I was so looking forward for something to destroy." He looked down at Kakarrot. "You have one hour to say your goodbyes before my ship leaves. And if you aren't on it, guess what happens to your planet?" Frieza said as he turned and left.
Closing Note: Okay, I want to say that yes, when Goku transforms into a Super-Saiyan in the show, he beats Frieza. But for the benefit of the story, I made him lose. I just wanted to get that out of the way before anyone tries to flame me about the actual events in the show and the ones in this fanfic. Alrighty, I'm done talking now, so stay tuned for the next chapter!
