Kurai: Or I'll have to beat the crap out of you for being mean to my hikari.

Oh, heh, that's my muse/yami/alternate personality, Kurai. I have many muses, but she's my main. Anyway, we hope you enjoy the first installment of Saiyajins Return!

A slow sizzle echoed through the house, quickly followed by a semi-loud explosion.

"Damn it!" A deep tenor voice cried, muffled by the thick walls.

Kurai glanced up from her paper and looked at the wall that connected her and her brother's rooms, then out the window at the stormy night. She shivered slightly.

"Piece of shit!" she heard him call again.

Sighing, the deep brunette haired girl left her story on the bed and went to see how her sibling was. Turning right, outside her door, Kurai followed the wall with the stairs and turned right again when the stairs halted at the floor. She waited a moment outside the half-opened door, listening with a half smile to her older brother's damnation of his latest project.

"You Ok niisan?" she called quietly, her semi-husky voice laced with amusement. He cursed. A low growl emanated from within the room and the door was suddenly flung open, revealing a soot-covered man just over 6 ft. He growled once more and pushed past the girl, turned right and stalked into the kitchen adjacent to his room.

Kurai followed slowly, watching as her older brother, by three years, washed his hands and face in the sink. A recognizable face quickly resurfaced. Fair skin and dark features. Eyes such a dark emerald they were almost black, thick black brows and short, spiky, jet-black hair.

Beautiful.

The man glanced up at his innocent looking sister as her dried his face and smirked.

Flirt.

Kurai smiled and, walking to him, took one of his rough and calloused hands in her own and led him to their wooden table. Sitting him down, she stood behind him, softly rubbing her elder's neck and shoulders. Her brother sighed contentedly and leaned back into his sister's familiar touch.

Leaning down, she nuzzled his neck and inhaled deeply. "So, what's up Ray?" she asked after a moment.

The man sighed and didn't answer for several moments.

"Come on, maybe I can help."

Ray chuckled. "I doubt it."

Kurai pouted and hit him upside the head.

"Hey, what was that for?" he craned his head around and looked up at her questioningly.

The brunette gave him a strong look of disapproval. "I don't pretend to be as smart as you, but that doesn't mean you can imply that I'm stupid."

"What are you talking about?"

She rolled her storm gray eyes. "I know you were working on the teleporter. What's wrong with it this time?"

Ray shrugged.

Suddenly his imooto's comforting presence at his back was gone. Craning his head around, he found the object of his search disappearing around the doorframe. Springing up he followed.

Kurai raised her coal black brows in mild astonishment to the damage done to her sibling's room. "Holy shit…" There were burned chunks missing from the floor; the bed was covered in soot, the blankets singed and tattered.

"Yeah, things exploding tend to make big messes."

While she was inspecting the room, Ray had come up behind her and watched his little sister's reaction.

Walking to the bed, she attempted to clean a patch off, but gave up and flopped down on to it. "So what did you do to get it this way?"

Sighing, the male went to the desk across from the bed and lifted up a canister-looking bit with the front cut out. The top was domed with a small metal rod sticking out of it that looked fried beyond hope. On the inside it was hallowed out with prongs hanging down from the top and up from the bottom. It was mounted on a long keyboard, wires hanging out of it like spaghetti and disappearing under the other piles of techno crap on the desk.

"Guess this is another failed attempt to get us out of here."

Kurai sniffed the air. "Did anything happen when it exploded?"

Ray paused, thinking. "No, just got sooty." He said, sitting on the edge of the bed, smiling.

"Don't you dare lie to me Raife." She hissed from behind him.

The emerald-eyed man started at the remark and stiffened when his sister's hand snaked up his baggy black shirt and down the waistband of his jeans. He divulged a small gasp when Kurai's hand gripped what she was looking for. Gently she pulled the furry appendage from her elder's waist. Reverently she held it, lightly stroking the end.

"Kurai…"

Kurai looked up at her niisan's face, confused by his strained tone. His features where faintly strained, sweat beading at his hairline. It took a moment for the implications to register, but when they did, the brunette dropped the jet-black tail. It was immediately retracted under his shirt. Raife sighed, visibly relaxing.

"I'm sorry niisan. I forgot how sensitive they are."

Ray sighed and gave her an understanding smile. "It's alright. I'm going to change." He patted his chest, the black dust rising from him in a small cloud. "This is annoying."

Rising from the bed, he went to the oak dresser under the window that was opposite the door. Opening several drawers, he emerged with a maroon button up shirt and another pair of jeans, black this time.

Ray turned to Kurai, holding up the pants. "Got any scissors?"

Uncrossing her legs, she pulled at the seam of her left pant leg and splitting it open, revealing a long knife with a notch missing from the flat side. Pulling it from her calf she expertly tossed it to her sibling, who caught it with mild a surprise.

"A guthook, interesting choice."

She shrugged.

"May I ask why you keep it strapped to your leg?" He said this while removing his pants.

She shrugged again. "You never know. I don't want us to be separated again."

The cut body stilled for just a moment, unpleasant memories creeping to the surface. Shaking his head, Raife continued to undress until he stood in the nude, blue and white diamond pattered boxers in hand. Taking the guthook he slit the back seam just large enough for his new appendage, which waved lazily behind him. Kurai watched, entranced by its movements.

"Hey, you got any other pointy objects on you?"

With out taking her gray eyes off of the tail, she undid her right pant seam and unhooked a 14-inch tantos. It was a very unique weapon, the blade square with a Chinese dragon etched onto it.

"…I was being sarcastic."

When his sister didn't react, he realized where she was looking. Quickly he slipped his boxers on, made the same cut to his pants and put on those. Wrapping his tail around his waist, Raife buttoned his shirt on and let it hang over the object of Kurai's intense gaze, hiding it from view.

At the loss, the brunette blinked several times and shook her head. Looking up at her only family, Kurai gave him a pleading gaze. "Please, can we find a way to get mine back?"

Ray sighed sadly. "See, this is why I didn't tell you to begin with. I didn't want you to hurt." He sat on the bed and hugged his sister to his side; he made her strap the tantos and guthook back to her calves. "How did you know my tail grew back in the first place?"

Kurai gave her brother a reproving look. "I'm a Saiyajin, I could smell it!"

"Ah, of course, I forgot." He answered chagrined.

They lay together for several moments, content to silence. Kurai gave a sharp intake of breath and, opening her mouth, revealing large ivory canines, exhaled it in a huge yawn. Raife chuckled.

"Hey, why don't you grab a movie?"

Kurai perked up at the prospect and dove off the bed and attacked the old trunk that was tucked in the corner by the door. Once inside, she riffled through the rectangular plastic cases that took up most of space in the good sized trunk.

Ray smiled at his imooto's enthusiasm. "Maybe it'll get you to sleep, finally. You've been working on that damn paper of yours for…Kami, how long has it been?"

The teen looked up from the trunk to her sibling. "Hey, I've only been up for 5 days. You, on the other hand, have been up for over a week and half. Do not get me started on who needs to sleep!" She returned to the cases. "And it's a story, not a paper." She muttered, just loud enough for him to hear.

The rain rattled against the windowpane, making Kurai pause and look up apprehensively. Ray smiled reassuringly and motioned her to hurry up. She returned to the cases.

"Ah ha!!" the brunette cried out happily, thrusting a plain, black plastic case into the air.

"Oh, chibi, we've already watched that one six times!"

Ignoring her brother, the lithe female bounded over to the desk, sifting through all of brother's projects, trying to find their DVD player.

"What does it matter how many times we've seen it? It reminds me of home and I want to see it. Besides," She turned and smiled at her niisan. "I know you want to see too, no matter what you say; so shut up and let me work." Turning her back on him, Kurai continued with her search, Ray rolling his eyes at her backside.

"Oh my-What the CRAP did you DO to it!?"

Her screech caused the male to wince as it resonated in his sensitive ears. He watched as the brunette held before her a black, rectangular box. The top was removed, its insides blocked from view by dozens of wires protruding from it like Medusa's head of snakes. Ray stared at his stunned imooto and he couldn't help but laugh.

"Don't worry so much gaki. It'll work fine, promise. Now hurry and hook it up."

Kurai regarded her sibling for a long moment before finally resigning to the fact that he knew what he was talking about. Setting down the DVD player and rolling up the sleeves of her long sleeved, navy blue over-shirt, she returned to wading through all the crap on Ray's desk. Finally there was a clear path to the TV that had somehow managed to escape her brother's busy fingers. After another few seconds, she had the player hooked up to the television. But something didn't seem right.

"Hey Ray-chi, what's with all the extra wires?" she followed said wires and found they led to the keyboard that the teleporter was mounted on. "Should you unhook these?"

He shook his head. "The `porter's fried. Those don't do anything anymore, just leave them."

The brunette nodded. As she turned everything on and pushed the DVD into a slot in the front, a deafening thunderclap sounded in the night air. Crying out in fright, Kurai jumped on the bed, causing a fine black mist to rise up, and latched onto her brother's waist. Raife chuckled and hugged his sister to his side. Picking up the remote, he hit the `play' button and settled down to watch.

The title, along with 4-silhouetted profiles appeared on the screen, announcing the first of several movies and episodes the two of them had downloaded off of the Internet.

Bardock: The Father of Goku

Several hours later, Raife was still up, Kurai was asleep, clinging to his side, and the rain was pounding against their house as hard as ever. He watched as two blond warriors fought a tall, pink daemon, and wondered, as he had every day of his life, how Ku-chan and himself were going to get home.

"Mmm…shut mup…you tink too wowed…"

Ray watched as his imooto struggled out of the bonds of sleep and regarded him with bleary, storm gray eyes half covered by red streaked brown bangs.

"It's fine that you're trying to get us home, but don't think about when I'm sleeping…you know how loud you think."

The tall male watched his sibling as she finished and yawned enormously, fangs glinting in the light. Then he grinned and tugged playfully at her thick, knee-length braid.

Kurai grunted lightly and proceeded to run her long-fingered, calloused hands happily through her brother's silken locks. Ray smiled.

"You have such a weird fetish."

"Do you object?" she asked lazily.

He chuckled. "Hardly." And returned to watching the movie.

A moment later -

Rrrr- BOOM!!

The thunder sounded, right on top of them. The brunette shrieked and latched onto her elder. The lights surged brighter for a split second before blowing out. Ray watched his sister, unhindered by the lack of light, and wrapped his black tail firmly about her waist, hugging her close. Another bolt of lightning hit, Kurai only flinching and letting a quiet mewl escape her. The TV and DVD player, which seemed to have died with the other lights, flickered back to life. Their newfound energy lent an eerie sense to the entire room, everything flickering with formless shadows.

The TV brightened even more, and the whirring of the DVD player becoming almost obscene to the pair's sensitive ears. Suddenly, the lightning struck again, the electronics surging with power. The teleporter, still hooked up and lifeless till then, shone with energy, crackling and hissing.

Kurai peaked up from her brother's side, panicked by the lightning and rigid with fright.

"What's happening Raife?"

"Th-the teleporter! It's activated!

The power radiating from the machine quickly took form and condensed to a pinprick of light in the center of the hollowed out canister. The female was a bout to launch herself from the bed when Ray intervened.

No, don't! That energy is highly unstable. Any sudden flux of ki in the air could cause it to destabilize. Just wait a minute.

The siblings shifted, watching the light warily. Lightning suddenly hit again, and their world was burned away in seconds.

That morning, police were called in to investigate a mysterious fire that had occurred during the storm that night. After the routine investigation, it was determined that someone had been living in the house recently, but had fled before the fire. All salvageable material was confiscated and sent to the proper authorities, including a small cylinder mounted on a keyboard, which seemed to have escaped the fires ravage unscathed.

What was left of the house was condemned and destroyed that same week.

So, how was that? Have we got your attention? Hope so! ^_^

These chapters are pretty long, so keep an eye out for the next one, but it probably won't be out for a while. I'm working on another story and a one-shot already. If you want to check them out, go to fanfiction.net and type in Gemini Stampede as the author. Or, you could just wait till I find the time to put them up here, your choice. They're both Trigun fics by the way…gomen.
