The Mysteries of Love:
Saiyan Pride
Chapter Five
Dreams and Reality
I think its time we bonded. We should become mates.
"What!" Bulma exclaimed in surprise. Of all the things she had imagined Vegeta saying, that was not one of it!
"I said that I think its ..."
"I heard what you said Vegeta." Bulma cut him off. "I'm not deaf. I just don't believe it. I mean why?"
"I take it you know about Saiyan bonding then." Vegeta said.
"Yes. While I was here I read about it."
Vegeta nodded. "So you are well aware of the why's then."
"No I'm not." Bulma said sharply. "I know what happens when couples bond. What I want to know is why should we."
"Look, its not something that either of us actually have a choice in. You know the power the bond is made of. It's difficult to say why it happens. I've never thought it would happen to me. But then you came along."
"So what you are saying is that you have no choice in the matter?"
"Some choose their mates for various reasons. But others, like us, start a bond without knowing it. It is said that when two people are destined to be together a bond automatically forms between their inner beings."
"But that's impossible. I mean, you don't even like me. How could this be?"
Vegeta frowned at her comment. "I never said I didn't like you woman."
"Oh please. You made it pretty clear the last time I was here, how you felt about me. Let me remind you ... "What did you think, that I would be so honored to be your first that I would ask you to stay, that I would profess my undying love for you? Well you can just wipe those silly fantasies from your mind. You mean absolutely nothing to me! Do you understand, ... "
"Enough." Vegeta said harshly.
Bulma glared at him. "Why? It was your words."
"Yes, but you don't understand."
"What don't I understand Vegeta? Tell me! Explain why you said what you did. Make me understand, please." Bulma pleaded as she felt her eyes blur with tears.
The wounds he had caused her all those years ago still open to this day, still bleeding for his touch. For him to tend to them, cleansing them with telling her it was all a lie and healing it with his love.
Vegeta looked at Bulma. He could not stand to see tears in her eyes. Hell he had not wanted to bond. But he realized there was not other way.
They had already been able to feel each others strong emotions, well he had felt hers. Vegeta had used all his will power to put up those walls so she could not feel his emotions. Though he knew there were times when he had failed. Then they had coupled. Sleeping together was a huge mistake for it only strengthened their bond.
He knew because now the dreams he had been having made sense.
"Let's take this one step at a time ok." He said softly moving towards her. He took her hand in his and brought it to his lips.
Bulma closed her eyes at the pure pleasure just the small touch of his lips gave her.
"Ok." She nodded.
"When you were here seven years ago I started to feel your emotions. The overwhelming ones. At the time I had thought it was because you were so passionate and expressive so I did not think much of it. But I guess apart of me knew because I put up walls, so to speak, so you would not be able to feel my own emotions. Whether it was that or because I was so used to blocking out emotions I don't know. But then we coupled and things got a lot more complicated. I couldn't bare to be in the Castle without you. Every where I went I could smell you, hear you, still taste you on my lips. When I closed my eyes I could see you. So I went to Planet Kamo. But no matter how many galaxies apart we were our connection never lessened. I started having the same dreams ... What's wrong?" Vegeta asked as Bulma gasped.
"Dreams. Vegeta, during the war, were you injured on you chest by a sword?"
Vegeta looked up at Bulma in surprise. "Yes. But I don't think I've ever dreamed of that." Vegeta's frown disappeared. "Unless I was so weak and the emotions I felt were so overwhelming that you saw it happen. It is very rare that bonds of such depth exist."
"I had a scratch on my chest that night, on my right side." Bulma told him.
"Yes, it is known to happen. If the bond is deeply shared you may not also feel my pain you may gain some sort of physical mark, though never as badly as the one who the injury was inflicted on." He said reassuringly. "When a bond is that powerful it is as if the two have become one."
"Yes. I did find a few bruises I couldn't explain. But I thought I had just knocked into something." Bulma said offhandedly. "So we share dreams then." She asked, returning to the beginning of their discussion.
He nodded. "Dreams are subconscious thoughts, so when one person is thinking them the other can see them easily."
"Because when we sleep our bodies are defenseless and the bond allows us to see each others thoughts clearly. We can't put up mental barriers during that time." Bulma said as she remembered what she had read. It was always a fascinating subject to her.
"Yes." Vegeta smiled. The woman knew her stuff, he was impressed.
"So all those dreams I had of us together, the ones were we ..." Bulma blushed.
Vegeta smirked. "Yes. Sometimes you invade my dreams and sometimes I invade yours because we share them so the dreams change according to what we want. But don't worry, I like it when you invade my dreams. You are a pretty creative woman." He teased.
Bulma rolled her eyes at him, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.
"I used to see you handing me a baby in your dreams and I would embrace the boy to make you smile. I realized now it was actually Trunks."
"Yes." Bulma said remembering those dreams. She was still trying to accept how much Vegeta had pined for her and how readily he was accepting her to be his mate that she could hardly breathe. It was all happening so quickly, so easily. Though she did not want it to stop!
"Yes well I take it you know the rest on bonding."
"Yes." Bulma nodded. "When the bond is complete we won't be able to live without one another. If one should ..." Bulma faltered on the word.
"Die." Vegeta supplied easily for her and she glared at him.
"Yes Vegeta, die." She said sarcastically. "The other would live an empty life full of despair. Are you telling me you're willing to do that for me?" Bulma asked, holding her breath. She knew she would never love again, the last seven years had proved that. But what about him?
"Don't worry about me." He advised. "Besides, it will only drive us insane if we don't bond. It will leave us in a feeling of constant limbo. We would be caught in between the shadows of happiness and despair. Now I have only known despair all my life, so I would not be missing out on anything therefore the question is, can you go through with it?"
His words clutched at Bulma's heart. He thought she was the only happiness in his life! It was not a claim of undying love, but here he was willing to bond with her. Bonding, even more powerful, meaningful and indestructible than marriage! What more could she ask for from theman she loved more than life itself?
He had said he hadn't chosen her, but their souls had chosen for them. They had no choice, yes, but not because it wasn't what either of them wanted but because it was meant to be! Bulma smiled at the mysterious workings of love.
"If we are meant to bond then who am I to say no." Bulma said lightly.
"Think carefully woman." Vegeta growled. "Once in, there is no way out." He advised.
Bulma looked at Vegeta. He did not look like a man being sent to his execution. She knew he would have his defenses up but she must try. She had to be sure that he was sure!
She moved closer towards him, placing her hand on his cheek, she closed her eyes and inhaled his musky scent deeply before clearing her mind of all thoughts. She must focus.
Bulma smiled as she felt him lean his cheek into her palm.
Vegeta closed his eyes too. He knew what she was up to but he had decided to let her in. Soon there would be no secrets between them and truth be told he wanted to see what was going on in that pretty little head of hers too.
He let her feel how he had wanted her, how it made him feel for her, how that scared him, why he had said what he had said to her seven years ago and why he had let her go. He let her feel the despair and darkness he had felt after she left and why he went to Planet Kamo. He let her feel how he had failed in trying to banish her from his inner being, the pride he felt at having Trunks as a son and finally he let her feel how deeply and passionately he wanted her now, and not just for today but for everyday.
Bulma felt the emotional roller coaster of his deepest feelings and before she knew it she was letting him feel all she had inside her too.
The hurt at his words, the pride she must hold onto, the lonely nights while pregnant, the fear that Trunks might hate her for not telling him about his father, the pain that her son may choose to leave her as Vegeta had. She let him feel how much she loved him and still did not having any doubts about them bonding!
When they opened their eyes they looked at each other deeply, searchingly as if trying to get one last fact that only their eyes could answer. Was all they felt real?
"You really feel that way about me?" Vegeta asked after seeing the truth from his eyes mirrored in hers.
Bulma nodded. But before she had a chance to speak Vegeta grabbed hold of her face and kissed her deeply.
A kiss so powerful Bulma felt the tears run down her cheeks. As their tongues met it felt as if they were fusing into one being, as if she could see them joining as if this was how it had always meant to be.
The joy Vegeta felt was unbelievable, inexplicable! He had never, ever though it possible. And she was all his, every miniscule feeling and every enormous one he felt was only matched equally by hers. She was his other half and she made him feel complete.
When they both stopped to breath, there foreheads resting against each other Bulma laughed while Vegeta wiped away her tears.
"And here I thought you couldn't feel. Just goes to show, that all living beings made of flesh and blood can feel. Even the great strong warrior Prince of all Saiyans." Bulma teased.
"Well just don't expect doting displays of affection woman." He grunted.
"Never." Bulma laughed. "You have a reputation to uphold. I'll never let anyone know the good side of you." She teased him.
"Hmph." He grunted before holding her in a crushing embrace vowing never to let her go, he could not believe that he had thought it possible to live without her. Her, the best thing that had ever happened to him!
