Understanding
"HEY mom ... " Trunks barged into the room but at the sight of his mother and father locked in a close embrace he stood rooted to the spot, gazing from one to the other.
Bulma reluctantly pulled away from Vegeta.
"Hey Trunks." She smiled at him reassuringly.
"Were you crying?" His eyes narrowed just like his father's as he placed his hands on his hips like his mother did.
Bulma laughed. "No. I just had something in my eye." Bulma lied easily. Trunks was very smart but he was also a male and he would never understand how anyone could cry when they were happy.
Trunks looked uncertainly at his mother before turning to stare accusingly at Vegeta. To Bulma's surprise a guilty flush reddened Vegeta's handsome face.
'This is not a dream!' Bulma told herself sternly so she would not forget that fact. Everything was so perfect now she could not believe that one person could have so much of happiness in the blink of an eye. And all her earlier questions of how the three of them would live were finally answered. Everything fell into place!
"I think its time for your bath and bed young man." Bulma told Trunks, changing the topic.
"Ok." The little boy nodded.
* * *
"You have done well." Vegeta praised as he and Bulma looked at the sleeping figure of Trunks.
"I had a lot of help, I was very lucky." Bulma smiled as she lightly brushed Trunks' hair away from his forehead. She could still not believe that she was in the same room with her son and his father, the man she loved.
It all still felt so surreal to her. She wanted to take the feelings of immense and pure joy she felt now and bottle it up so she would never ever forget it.
"Ah yes. The wonderful Kakarot." Vegeta said sarcastically.
Bulma frowned as she looked up at Vegeta. "My brother was a great help and Trunks was very fortunate to have him around."
"My son didn't need him. The man is obviously a clown." Vegeta said.
Bulma stared at him her temper rising. "Don't you dare insult my brother to my face. Especially after everything he has done for Trunks and I. Goku has been the only father figure Trunks has known."
"Well he is not the boy's father." Vegeta ground his teeth together.
Bulma frowned. So this is what that was all about.
She got up from the bed and went over to Vegeta. She wrapped her hands around his waist and hugged him tightly, laying her head against his chest.
At first she felt him stiffen in surprise and confusion though when she didn't move he put his arms around her. His tail moved to encircle her waist possessively.
"You're right, Goku has done a lot but it was never enough. Not for Trunks, he still needed you. His dad." She said softly.
"But he doesn't look like me at all. Not even the Saiyan hair, or eyes."
Bulma let out a soft laugh. He sounded like a little baby. She looked up into Vegeta's eyes. "Your son has all your characteristics. Didn't you notice? He loves a good battle, he's strong, independent, competitive, vain, arrogant ..."
"Ok, ok. I get it." Vegeta growled. "Your right about him being strong though. He managed to defeat one of Cold's most powerful warriors and that energy shield he put up, not even I could touch him through that." Vegeta smirked proudly.
Bulma nodded. "And as for not looking like you, you're wrong."
Vegeta raised and eyebrow. "He has lavender hair and blue eyes."
Bulma rolled her eyes. "You're such a guy. Sure at first glance you would think Trunks inherited all my beauty." Bulma joked. "Though that's not true. He has your tanned skin and aristocratic nose." She said as she lightly kissed the tip of Vegeta's nose. "And the same shape eyes as you do and that stubborn jaw line." She kissed his jaw. "And he definitely inherited your smirk." Bulma teased before brushing her lips lightly against his.
Vegeta looked down at Bulma. He could not imagine wanting anyone as much as he wanted this amazing creature.
There was no way he would ever stop wanting her or needing her. She complimented him in every way. But mostly, she understood him. And that was something even he at times failed to do. He smirked.
"You know that once we have bonded there will be no way out. Even if it were not for the bond, I will not be able to let you go now." Vegeta advised.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Bulma said softly.
He stared at her for a long while, taking in the picture she made. She was by far the most desirable woman he had ever laid eyes upon. And she was his!
"Are you going to stare at me forever or will you kiss me anytime this century." She teased him.
He smirked. "I have a better idea."
"You do?" She raised a perfectly arched eyebrow at him.
"Yes I do." His bold eyes glinted wickedly as he picked her up in his arms and carried her out of the room.
