Supplement to an A/N:  Okay, so it's been over two years.  *sighs*  Gomen ne minna, I kinda forgot about this one.  *grins sheepishly*  It was actually an email from Amanda that reminded me of it.  So I went and reread the whole thing and realized that despite the bad formatting, the story and writing was pretty good.  After a bit more digging I found the old, old, old notes I'd written for the future chapters and voila, new chapter!   Enjoy minna-san!

Part Nine -  Surprises

Humming along with the radio, Debra darted about the small kitchen, putting the finishing touches on the assorted dishes she'd been preparing all afternoon.  It was her and Goku's first anniversary and she wanted to do something a little special for dinner.  It wasn't anything too fancy, just an array of her mate's favorite dishes.  The real celebration would take place after dinner.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the last of the dishes were done, Debra turned to her mate, a seductive smile on her lips.  "Goku," she purred, lacing her fingers behind his neck as she pressed her body flush against his, "Do you remember what today is?"
Nodding, the tall saiya-jin wrapped his arms around her waist and squeezed gently, "Hai.  It's our anniversary."
Stunned.  That would be the best way to describe the human warrioress.  Blue-gray eyes went wide as she stared up at her mate in disbelief.  The entire time she had known the gentle warrior, the ONLY events she could ever recall him remembering were tournaments and his sons' birthdays.
Grinning, Goku nuzzled the crook of her neck, hiding his smile and reassuring the astonished woman.  After a moment, he lifted his head to catch her lips in a passionate kiss.  Snapping out of her shock, Debra pulled him closer, hands sliding upwards to entwine in ebony spikes.  Goku's hands moved in the opposite direction, cupping her pert rear and drawing her even closer to him.   Debra moaned into the kiss, barely registering the loss of one of his hands as the other began to knead the soft flesh of her backside.  When they drew back for air Goku revealed the reason he'd removed one of  his hands, a small velvet box that had been in his pocket.
Once more, Debra's eyes went wide.  This time though, they sparkled with hope and a well of happiness that threatened to burst at any moment, "Goku is that . . .?"
The Chikyuu raised saiya-jin nodded in silent agreement, confirming her thoughts outloud with his next words, "Debra Kreiger, will you marry me?"
Flashing him a dazzling smile Debra flung her arms back around him, laughing happily as she did.  "HAI!!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Despite the life she'd led, Debra was a simple woman at heart.  Like her mate, she was perfectly content keeping herself an her family out of the limelight.  Unfortunately, her chosen career was a very public one.   So it wasn't too surprising that the press had found out about the wedding.   After all, it wasn't every day that two of the most well-known and powerful martial artists on Chikyuu got married . . . . .

"Can I?"

"Iie."

"Pleeease?"

"Iie."

"Not even one?"

"Nope."

"Oh come on!  It's not like I'm gonna KILL anyone.  Just singe them a little."

"Not a chance," Goku stated firmly, crossing his arms and taking a very Vegeta-esque pose.

"You're no fun," Debra complained.

"You'll ruin your dress Debra-chan, and I haven't even seen you in it yet," he pointed out.

"Oh all right," she sighed, the began making faces at her mate's back.

"Cute Debra, real cute," Bulma commented, walking over to where Goku was standing guard.  "Keeping her from blasting the reporters are we?"  Goku nodded, his tail waving in satisfied arcs.

"I'll take over from here, Son-kun.   You need to get ready, it's almost time," Bulma said, pushing the tall senshi towards the other side of the chapel.  "Go on."

"`Kay," he agreed, amiably taking his leave.  But not before tossing back, "Keep an eye on her Bulma, she almost got one through the window."

"Why you . . !!" Debra growled indignantly.  "That's not fair!!"

Goku merely chuckled in reply, leaving his frustrated mate in his oldest friend's care.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glancing up at the clock, Goku gulped nervously and wrung his hands.  'Almost time.'  He nearly jumped a mile out of his seat when Kuririn clasped a hand on his shoulder.
"Woah, you're really nervous aren't you?" the former monk was quite surprised by this.  He'd never seen his friend so tense before.
Goku nodded.  "Uh-huh.  I can't figure out why though!  I wasn't this nervous when I married Chichi!" he fretted, looking to his best friend for answers.
Kuririn gave him a sympathetic smile, "That's because this time you know what you're getting yourself into."
"Che.  Quit acting like a fool Kakarott.  You already claimed her as your bonded mate," Vegeta growled from his position against the wall.  "This changes nothing."
Kuririn raised an eyebrow and Goku managed a weak smile at the ouji.  Vegeta had a strange way of reassuring someone.  Locking eyes with the other saiya-jin, Goku could see what the other man would never admit.   This DID change things and they both knew it.  This ceremony was just as important to their human mates as the mating hunt was to them.  Still . . .
"I never dreamed I'd be doing this twice with you , Debra-chan," her father commented, his mouth turned up in a wry grin.
"Me either, Papa," she replied, fidgeting with her dress.
Placing a bouquet of pastel roses in Debra's hands, Bulma turned the other woman around and began fussing with the ribbons in the back.   "Your dress is beautiful, Debra-chan, but I still don't understand why you didn't get an all white one."
Indeed, Debra's second wedding dress was quite different from her first, which had been a stylish cut in all white.  This one had a more classic look to it, with lace, ribbons, and a long flowing train.  It too was all white, save for the braided ribbons interwoven throughout the lace.  The ribbons were lavender, mint green, and powder blue.  Each color representing one of her children.
"Bulma, I've given birth to three daughters, one of whom has children of her own.  I'm hardly a candidate for an all-white dress," she replied, twirling the tri-colored ribbons trailing from her bouquet, around her fingers.  Before their conversation could continue, soft music began to play, signaling the ceremony's start.
