Part One - Love Strikes Again
Goku smiled into the wind as he headed towards his destination, every second bringing him closer to ~her~. Goku hadn't thought he could love again after losing Chichi . . . he'd gotten dangerously depressed after her death and none of his friends had been able to bring him out of it. Except for ~her~. One of his closest and oldest friends, she'd been by his side every moment, never letting him give up, reminding him of all he still had, forcing him to live his life again, helping him heal. A few years before, he and Vegeta had used the Dragon Balls to wish that their wives would age at the same rate as they did. But that hadn't been able to stop the disease that had taken Chichi away. Chichi would always be in Goku's heart, but now someone else was there too. ~She~ was the only one who understood his pain. She'd lost her mate suddenly too, in a car crash, and her mate had never been a fighter like she was.
Landing in the front yard of a small house outside of West Capital, Goku straightened his gi before heading to the door. The house in front of him was a nice two bedroom, two bath, American style. A very unique style in this part of the world. A neat wooden fence flanked either side of the front yard. The fence to his left held a short row of about eight rose bushes in assorted colors, to his right was the garage and driveway. Shortly after her husband's death she'd had it built here so as to be closer to her children and friends. As the saiya-jin warrior stepped onto the small porch the front door swung open.
"Goku-kun!" Debra exclaimed happily before grabbing him in an exuberant hug. His heart skipping a beat as he returned her friendly embrace.
"I'm glad ta see you too, Debra." Goku laughed happily and smiled down at the other senshi, "Ready to spar?"
"Of course."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As usual, they began their warm-up katas in the training grounds out back. They'd started these daily sparing sessions when Debra had been forcing him out of his depression. The two of them enjoyed it so much that they had simply continued their new routine. Goku watched Debra out of the corner of his eye the whole time. Her just above the shoulder auburn hair floating elegantly around her head, blue-gray eyes sharp and focused. She was very pretty, with a gentle grace in her every movement. She didn't look a day older than the day he and Kuririn had first met her at the Tenkaichi Budokai all those years ago. `Course that was because they had used the Dragon Balls to change her age rate too. It had been Goku's idea, now all of their friends aged at the same rate saiya-jin did. Goku smiled to himself, now Debra was trying to catch up to her daughters, she wanted to be a super ningen* at least. Their warm-ups complete, they turned to face each other. Crouching into her fighting stance Debra gave a kiai shout as she raised her ki to full power. Grinning, Goku raised his ki to match hers . . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hours later they stopped and Debra invited him to stay for dinner. "But not before a shower," she told him. Both of their gis were soaked with sweat and they were dirty on top of that.
Goku grinned roguishly at her, "Together?"
Debra blushed clear down to her roots at his uncharacteristic comment before realizing that he was teasing her. "O-of course not," she stammered, struggling to regain her composure. Before speaking again she took a few deep breaths to assure herself that her voice would be steady, "Come on. Let's go in."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rinsing the soap from his hair Goku began thinking about Debra again. She didn't seem to realize that he hadn't really been teasing when he'd suggested they shower together. Quickly, he pushed away the wicked thought that sprung into his mind of her wet, sleek, naked body pressed against his. Now was not the time to start thinking about that. But still, how was he supposed to let her know how he felt without her thinking it was a joke? He was still thinking about that as he dried himself off, (being careful of his tail) and reached for the gi he'd left out. Debra had insisted he leave a spare gi at her home for just these situtations. A gentle smile crossed his face as he ran his fingers over the places where she'd expertly repaired the tears and holes caused by their sparring. Most people would have been unable to see where it had been damaged. Only his enhanced saiya-jin eyesight was able to pick it out. It fascinated him, every time he thought he knew everything about her, Debra came up with something new.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time he walked into the kitchen, Debra had almost finished preparing dinner. Once again, leaving him awestruck. How had she gotten out here so fast? Slowly and silently, he began creeping up behind her, intent on scaring her silly. Just as his hands were about to grab her sides . . .
"Don't even think about it," she warned without even turning around.
Goku was floored, "How . . ?"
"I'm a mother, Goku-kun. I have eyes in the back of my head."
Goku chuckled, he should have known.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After dinner and dishes, they sat out in the yard and watched the stars come out. This far from the city you could see hundreds of them at night. They chatted about this and that, but Goku wasn't completely focused on their conversation. He was still trying to figure out how to tell her he loved her and convince her he was serious. Suddenly, the solution hit him like a ton of bricks, it was so simple!
"Debra?"
"Hmm?"
"Have you ever been hunting?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so it was that a few days later, Debra found herself alone, in the middle of some deep wilderness, with Goku. She'd never been hunting before, but was eager to learn. It was on their second day out, that Goku decided that it was time. He'd explained the basics of hunting to her the day before and had watched delightedly as she triumphed in her early success. The only warning she had of what was to come was that their hunting this day would be at night.

I bet you weren't expecting this were you? I really like these two as a couple, their personalities are very compatible. I'd love to hear what you think of it, but if anyone complains about Goku being with someone else that isn't an original Z character, I'll just laugh and put your comments up in the Hall of Shame.
