Silver Lining

Prologue

###

Gohan looked in fascinated horror at the blood.

It felt strange to be able to call herself a woman now that she was witnessing herself bleed out. She still only reached her own father's chest, and, feeling at her own chest, she could hardly claim that she was even developing! Yet, here it was, the proof that Gohan was indeed growing up. She peeked her head out of the bathroom, and looked over at her waiting father.

She said barely above a whimper, "Daddy ..."

"Yeah?" He looked up at her, and frowned softly in concern, "What's wrong, Gohan? Why were you ..." She had begun to cry, and he stopped talking, his mouth making an 'o' face. For once he seemed to understand just what was happening.

"What should I do? I can't just walk around for the rest of the time bleeding!" They hadn't even been in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for half of the year.

Gokuu smiled, and said, "It's okay, we'll just go out, and tell your mom what's going on - or Bulma, she might be still on the Lookout."

Biting her lip, she fidgeted, "But Trunks and Vegeta are still out there too ... and Piccolo, and Tenshinhan, and Mr. Popo ..."

"Well ..." his face lit up brighter. "Wash up your clothes, and dry off. Then you can go out clean, and then go talk to Bulma alone if she's still there. If she's not, I can distract everyone somehow, and you can go see your mom."

With a leap, Gohan embraced him, and kissed his cheek, "Thank you, Daddy!"

###

Sighing in relief, Gohan got up, and ran over to Bulma when she landed. Only a half hour ago, Kuririn, Vegeta and Trunks had told them all about the Cell Games which had been announced by the monster. That had taken up quite a bit of time while Bulma had flown down to a store, yet when Vegeta tried to get Gokuu and Gohan back into the Time Chamber to finish up their training, her father had exclaimed very loudly that he was hungry, so Mr. Popo was dealing out dish after dish. Even just a half hour had seemed to be filling him up though, so Gohan was grateful that Bulma returned before he was full.

However, as Bulma gave her the bag with a small encouraging smile, Gohan spotted Vegeta pulling her father to the side.

###

"Kakarotto," he went right to the point once he was out of hearing range of most of the others. He supposed that it wouldn't really matter if the Namek heard it all anyway - he might like to be forewarned as well, "Have you smelled the blood on your brat?"

"Aw," his chest deflated, "I was hoping no one would notice."

"I think only Piccolo and I have noticed. See how he's watching over her?" Indeed, the huge Namek was standing not more than twenty feet away from her, looking back between her and the two talking Saiyajin males which signified that he could hear them, and was curious as to why she was like this. "It's dangerous for her to be gallavanting around other Saiyajin now, Kakarotto. I just thought you should know. It might've been a bad thing if you didn't inform me."

Vegeta was never quite sure why he didn't expect the blank look on Kakarotto's face, "But what's wrong with other Saiyajin?"

"You moron," Vegeta seethed, "she's in her womanly cycles. If some Saiyajin male not of her blood lost control around her, there'd be more Saiyajin around."

"Hey, cool."

"That's not cool," he hissed, "that's bad."

"But why?"

"... Please tell me that you know where babies come from."

The other Saiyajin gaped at him, and then looked over at Gohan with Bulma, "But ... she's just eleven. Almost twelve."

"And the older she gets, the more suspectible she is to males trying to jump her, and beget offspring."

"... Like Trunks?"

"Yes, like Trunks ... Trunks!" Vegeta snapped at his boy, who had been about halfway over to Bulma and Gohan.

He stopped in mid-step, and looked over his shoulder at Vegeta, "Yeah, Dad?"

Pointing at him, he shouted, "Stay right there, boy! I need to talk to you! Don't move!"

"Hey, Vegeta ..."

"Yes, Kakarotto?"

"What about you?"

Irritated, he kept either his eyes on Kakarotto or his fidgetting son, "What about me?"

"Won't you be affected by her too?"

Vegeta grunted in acquiescence, "I should have more control than the boy. Good to know that you're now thinking of possible threats to your brat-turned-bitch." Yet Kakarotto had startled him. To hurt Gohan seemed an almost unthinkable thing now for Vegeta. His goals for the past seven or so years - about eight with him being in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber actually - had been to defeat Kakarotto. His brat had never even been considered before - she was no threat to him whatsoever ... right? "At any rate, how goes her training? Has either of you ascended past the level of a Super Saiyajin like Trunks and I yet?"

"Uh ... well ..."

"Well what?"

"Gohan hasn't reached Super Saiyajin yet."

"What!?"

"She's reached the power level of a Super Saiyajin though, but she can't really seem to transform. Seems that she doesn't have the natural blocks that we came across, and she just keeps getting stronger," he tapped his chin in thought. "It is getting a little bit harder for her to progress now though. Maybe it's different for different people."

Something suddenly crossed the Saiyajin Prince's mind, Or it's different for different genders ... Maybe ... in a way, it's harder for females to become a Super Saiyajin, but in another way, it's easy in that their strength can come easier when they don't reach the block that males come across earlier. Very quickly, Gohan was becoming a threat, I'd hate to see how powerful she will be once she finally does become a Super Saiyajin.

###

Gohan almost never heard Vegeta talk about her. It wasn't that Gohan's progress in her power wasn't impressive, but to Vegeta, it wasn't impressive enough compared to her father, and she was actually just fine knowing this. Happy even that Vegeta wouldn't spare her too many of his murderous glances.

So it was a shock for her to hear the Saiyajin Prince talk very specifically about her to Piccolo.

While her father fought Cell high in the sky, Gohan watched him, and half heartedly listened in to what Vegeta was muttering to the Namek.

###

"So, what you're saying is that while Gohan is getting older, she'll become more and more prone to ... searching out for males?" Vegeta had deemed the two of them far enough away from the others to speak in low voices, neither really facing each other as they too were watching the fight, and so that the others wouldn't think that they were talking.

"She - ooh ..." Vegeta smirked lightly as Cell got a good hit in on Kakarotto, "Anyway, she'll likely just try to attract some humans at first, and ..." he let an energy blast have its say first before continuing, "And if I'm right in my assumption that humans have much weaker senses, she'll either resort to some Earth custom to attract them, or ..." the man grimaced, "or she'll decide to try to get a Saiyaijin male instead."

Piccolo was silent a while as the fight progressed, and then murmured, "If we win, Trunks is going home after this, and then the baby Trunks will grow up too."

"I'm keeping my eye on them; they won't go within five steps of her without me monitoring them."

"Actually ..." his own smirk came over his green face while, Kakarotto brought in his own good hits in the match. "I was thinking that once this older Trunks leaves, Gohan and your 'other' son will grow up, but he's still twelve years younger than her. She won't have much of an effect over him, will she? I heard that this kind of thing was more for adults."

He grunted softly, "That's one less thing to worry about. Maybe by the time he is of age, she'll have more control over herself. I doubt she'd be desperate enough to go for some little boy, and Trunks won't try anything until he's at least thirteen - maybe fourteen."

"So then, she'll look for you."

Vegeta went ramrod straight at that comment, and he glanced over at Gohan staring at the fight, an image of himself hovering over her passing and lingering in his mind. How she would squirm and scream overlapped his senses, and he stamped down on his sudden lust, scared shitless. "I have more control than to let any of her foolish advances affect me, Namek. She'll be safe from me." Yet his thoughts mocked him as he found the girl on her hands and knees, her sweet rear end facing ...

What the hell am I thinking!? I'd tear her apart! She's not even a Super Saiyajin! Indeed, while Kakarotto had come out of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Gohan had been beside him - still unable to transform. However, the fool had claimed she wouldn't need anymore training.

The girl is too young, I'd tear her in half ... and she'd feel insanely exquisite pressed under me. He scowled at his train of thought, shoving every last vestige of the ludicrous thoughts away as Kakarotto's battle came to strange end, and he called down Gohan to the front of the battle.

###

Gohan fell back against the dusty ground, groaning in pain from her broken arm. She heard the exalted happy shouts of the others, and glanced over through slitted eyes to see something a bit odd. She thought that she could see Vegeta giving his own happy smirk. Seemingly proud in his own way - despite being the cause of her arm being manlged - that he could distract Cell for her.

Her new found silver energy seemed to sigh, and then depleted, her hair and eyes bleeding out into their normal coloring. Piccolo was then standing above her, smirking for having the honor of being her main trainer. Gohan smiled tiredly up at him. As Yamucha picked her up, she tried to relax as her arm was jostled a bit.

The scarred man grinned, and said, "Let's get you to see Dende. He'll heal you right away."

Listening to their praises, Gohan tried to keep awake.

"That was incredible," Yamucha was saying, "And you're silver, not gold. That's pretty cool. The red eyes were a little creepy though."

"Red ... ?" The hand of her good arm touched over her eyelid, feeling at her eye as if that would tell her otherwise.

"Yeah, I wonder why."

Their Namek resident spoke up, "I'm sure Vegeta would know why."

###

And after discovering that Son Gokuu wasn't coming back to life, and while they were bidding Trunks a goodbye before his back to the future, Gohan decided to approach him to ask.

"Ah ..." She turned her eyes up to him unsurely. Chichi had dressed her up in her best - like always when they went off to see others - and she was wearing a sky blue sundress with cornflowers etched over the hem. "Vegeta-san?"

His eyes shifted from watching Trunks to her, "The hell do you want?"

"I was wondering if you know why I was silver."

The scowling face worsened, "I don't know myself ... I thought it might have to do with you being half human, but obviously that's not so."

"It's not?"

"Of course not," he tossed his head in Trunks' direction. "He's a Super Saiyajin too, isn't he?"

"So ..." her brow furrowed, "It's because I'm a girl?"

"Maybe," he grunted, and his eyes trailed over her momentarily, "but your energy didn't feel like a Super Saiyajin's would."

Her eyebrows both raised in interest, "Really? What did it feel like?"

By this time, they had all garnered the attention of the others, and Vegeta glanced over them, clearing his throat, "Pardon how odd this sounds, but you felt like a woman."

As Chichi looked ready to murder some royalty for herself, Gohan felt her cheeks flush slightly, suddenly remembering overhearing some of Piccolo and Vegeta's conversation while Gokuu had fought with Cell, "So, I'm silver instead of gold because I'm a girl?"

Another grunt, "Apparently. Otherwise, I'm not sure."

"... Okay ..." the corners of her lips turned up, "Thanks, Vegeta-san!"

She returned to her family and friends to say goodbye to Trunks.

That's right! No playing in this one - just a very short un-vivid scenario going on the head of our favorite Prince. As was meant to be. I hear that the great Toriyama (why is he always 'the great Toriyama' anyway? Let's make him fluffy this time around). So I heard that the fluffy Toriyama said that girls couldn't become Super Saiyajin. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I'm going with the rumors a bit regardless just because I want a silver Saiyajin. She's not technically a Super Saiyajin anyway. Actually, I'm not sure what she is, or what I'm going to call it, but it doesn't really matter for the story. Just wanted it all explained away before the funtime begins.

O.O And just to let you know, Gohan will be older than twelve when it all finally comes down to it - for those worried for her poor, sorely undeveloped hips. ^^; It's just minor in the sense of our human standards. I'm thinking around fifteen through seventeen. Just before Buu and all of that ruckus.

^_~ And it won't be just senseless fucking ... well, at first it will be, but anyway ...

Does anyone have any ideas on what her transformation should be called? I really don't want to go around and call her a Super Saiyajin after all because ... she's just not.

Ja mata!
