Vex abruptly pulled her bike to a stop in front of a one-story, red brick house. It stood peacefully in the shade of the oaks, which framed its sides. Everything would have been quiet and at rest if it weren't for Vex who had jumped the few wooden steps of the porch and started banging on the vanilla painted door.

Vex heard someone shout to hold on. She leaned against one of the well hand-carved posts, trying to catch her breath. The door flung open and a young man appeared at the entrance.

He was tall and slightly buff with spiky silver hair and ocean blue eyes. He gasped at whom he saw. Colorless hair, deep blue eyes, and the clothes! He was sure it was her when he noticed the sky-blue bandana wrapped and tied tightly above her brow.

"Vex?! W-What are you doing here?!!" Vex pushed herself from the post and made her way toward the man.

"David!" The man looped an arm around her shoulder, concern written all over his face.

"Jeez, Vex! Come inside. I've never seen this side of you before," David pointed out for she was shaking with fear and wide eyes. She shook her head and grabbed his arm.

"No! We need to get away from here! You and Mona!" David rolled his eyes and literally dragged the hysterical Vex inside the cozy house. He closed the door and turned to her, hands on his hips and a silver eyebrow arched.

"Ok, now what's this about leaving?" Vex growled, gripping the man's shirt and, not too gently, shoved him against the wall.

"Haven't you been watchin' the news?!! A locus attacked my town and everyone is gone! I'm pretty sure they got reporters all over the place right now!!" David laughed, plying her fingers from his shirt.

"A locus??? What are you on?!!" He doubled over and continued to laugh. Vex wasn't pleased about this and was about to sock the man in the head when a young woman walked in. She was of average height and slender, excluding the huge bulge at her abdomen. Short curly hair the color of the midnight sky and eyes that resembled two pieces of coal.

"Honey, what's….wrong…? Vex?!!" The woman squealed and ran to give poor Vex a bear hug. Vex grunted in pain before backing away from the mad woman.

"Er..hi Mona….are…you..?" Vex's eyes darted to Mona's stomach then back to her black eyes. Mona clasped her hands together and nodded vigorously, tears forming in her eyes.

"Yes! Oh yes! I'm pregnant with a baby girl! I'm so happy that you dropped by. I haven't seen you in years!" Mona pulled Vex into another tight hug, crying happily. Vex groaned and pushed away from her.

"Listen will you?!! You guys gotta get far from here! There's this bug dude who absorbs people with his tail!!"" Mona and David looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"Suuuuure! Stop telling us these jokes and give us the REAL reason why you came!" Mona and David leaned stood in the doorway of the dark kitchen, lovingly holding each other. Vex couldn't help but feel a pinch of depression and jealousy. She'd never find anyone to hold her like that, even if she paid them to do it.

"But I AM giving the REAL reason! Please! You gotta believe me! We--!!" Vex gasped aloud. Behind the laughing couple stirred a tall, dark shadow. It took form into the familiar, bug-like figure. Vex wanted to scream that David and Mona get out of the way, but for some reason she had trouble to even mutter a whimper.

Vex stood helplessly as the monster stepped up behind them, a devilish smile curving his mouth. It was then that the two decided to look behind them. Mona screamed in horror and David tried to get in front of his wife, but it swatted him across the room.

"DAVID!! OH GOD, NO!!!" Mona screamed, tears sliding down her pale cheeks. Vex went to run up to Mona, but she couldn't move. It was as if someone had melted the soles of shoes, gluing her to the spot.

Everything went in slow motion for her. The thing had Mona pinned against the wall while David lay unconscious on the floor. Vex looked at David's motionless form, trying to call out to him, but her voice still wasn't with her.

Just as Vex had turned to scream to Mona, she stopped. Not because she thought it was useless, but because woman's pink gown was the only thing left on the monster's deadly tail. It chuckled evilly and walked calmly toward David.

Vex shook her head, her blue eyes wild with fear and anger. It turned slightly to look at her and, to her horror, deliberately stabbed David's back with it's tail. Finally, after the entire wait, Vex screamed. Every emotion that she knew or had once experienced flowed through her scream. She had control over her legs again.

Without a second thought, Vex lunged herself at the beast. It laughed and dodged her while still steadily absorbing the man that lay at his feet. She jumped at him again, but was smacked across the room, slamming painfully against the wall.

It walked toward her with the same smile, already finished with David. Vex didn't move for she gave up all hope. This was something that really caught her tail for she was never really a quitter. It stopped in front of her and knelt down, it's tail twitching for more inhuman activity. Vex stared at her hands, straining to keep her eyes open. One of it's huge hands gripped her chin and tilted it up, forcing her to stare into the murderer's face.

`Failure…you're a failure…you broke your promise to David…the promise to your mother…now he's dead…you're a failure...failure…' The words echoed over and over through her head. She shook her head slowly as the monster roughly licked away her tears.

"No….I couldn't…save him…it wasn't…my fault…" The thing smirked as it's tail came up to her face, the point nearly touching her nose. Even as she confessed to herself that it wasn't her who was the cause of David's death, the haunting word still floated around in her mind, making her cry harder.

`Failure…failure…failure…' Vex squeezed her eyes shut and screamed just as the alien's tail pierced her head.

"NO I'M NOT!!!!" Then there was a blinding, white light that engulfed everything.

Vex moaned and slowly opened her eyes. At first everything was blurry and out of shape, but in a few seconds her surroundings became whole and solid. The first thing she saw was a dark gray ceiling. Vex blinked a few times before figuring out that it was a cave's ceiling.

Carefully, she pushed her upper body onto an elbow, using her other hand to rub her eyes. She was in the back of a cold, damp cave with little light around. She sat all the way up and closed her eyes, laughing nervously.

"Wow, what a dream. Like I'd ever visit my twin brother! Puh and to think I was scared of that crazy bug! Hah! I doubt we'll ever cross paths again!" She laughed with relief, bowing her head with a smile.

"Are you sure about that?" Came that low, raspy voice. It was filled with amusement. Vex's eyes snapped open and franticly looked around until she spotted her nightmare. He sat silently in the dark before deciding to power up a weak blast. The light lit up his part and her part of the cave, giving a good view of one another.

Vex backed up as far as she could when the thing smirked with amusement. A mischievous glint twinkled in his eyes and he said, "Hello. Remember me?"

Well here's another sucky chpt. ^^ Hope you guys enjoyed it. You know what? I think I'm gunna warp this story a bit, but I want your opinion first. I like reviews and all and I don't want to lose them cause I made a stupid mistake. Guys that dun have an account can review now!! ^^U, I had the box checked that I wouldn't accept any from you guys! Sorry!!

When I mean "warp" I mean something like my other story "Demon in Her Dreams". I'm gunna spoil it for some of you guys. It's about a girl who is a vampire. That's what I mean by warp. She's a vampire and only herself, her dad, a demon, and one of the Z-fighters, won't tell, knows about it.

I was thinking about doin' somethin' like that to Vex, like giving her the ability to become a fire mage or a witch! *^^* Just thought I'd ask before I took the path.

Well, gotta go! *takes out a wooden spoon* Gengar! Get you tail over here!! I'm gunna pay ya back for hitting me!!

Gengar: O.O *fades away*

*growls* COWARD!!!
