Goten entered his bedroom, completely exhausted from the day’s events. His dad had him battle in a competition. So many Sayians had lined up to fight against them to test their strength. To Goku it was a big game but for Goten it was annoying and boring. Fighting wasn’t something that he wanted to do all the time. Yes, he enjoyed it and it was a great way to pass time but it just wasn’t worth the pain. Thanks to the Regeneration tank he was finally able to sit right without leaning to one side.
It was when he did sit down that he finally noticed a shadow in the corner. His first thought was Bra had crept in here but upon closer inspection the figure was at least a foot taller then her. And then his eyes widened. “What are you doing in here?” Goten stood, flexing his fists and clenching his teeth, rising his ki very quickly.
The figured chuckled, “Such fear, I sense.” Kali revealed himself from the darkness and took a walk over to the fireplace to stand in front of Goten. “Can’t I welcome back my own cousin?”
Goten calmed slightly, though the air in the room was nothing to ignore. Something was wrong with Kali. Something was very different. “Why are you here?”
Kali’s smirk vanished. “Did you rejoice when I was supposed dead?” He asked in a pleasantry that caused fear. Goten watched him too carefully as the man walked around the apartment.
“Of course not. I am not like that.”
“But you got Bra. Didn’t you? Isn’t that what you wanted. Me out of the way.”
“You were never in the way. You left her, Kali. And I wouldn’t be a man if I didn’t take your place.”
“A man, huh? A human man? Not a Sayian, of course. Because true Sayians have a bit honor in them.”
“Really, what is your point for being here, Kali? To threaten me? To scare me? Because you are doing nothing more then aggravating me.”
“Such words from a weakling.”
“I am more powerful then you think I am.”
“As am I.” Goten didn’t see movement but felt brutal pain in his neck and back when slammed against the wall held by his throat. The metal arm gripped him so badly no breath past through his lungs. Kali stood back, arm stretched out to hold him. “Time will soon come when you and I finish what was once started on Earth. And I assure you, I will be the one walking away. And Bra will finally see you are nothing. I am more powerful then even Vegeta now. And you will all see.”
Kali was gone before Goten fell to the floor. He sucked in air as much as possible, laying on the ground and staring up at the ceiling, wondering what the hell just happened.

Vegeta dropped down in the darkness. The lights however were illuminating the training field that Trunks was diligently working on doing back flips and spins in the air and landing with the balance of an angel. He watched for only a minute before revealing himself preparing for a sudden attack but none came. “Hello, Father.” Trunks panted placing himself down upon his feet. He smiled with pride. “I finally controlled my power.”
“Good. You are to come with me now. It is no longer safe.” His enemy knew that Trunks was alive. The boy now needed to be in the protection of the castle. And as much as he thought Trunks wasn’t ready to be in the eye of the public, this needed to happen.
“Safe?”
“I will explain. Grab the woman and come.” Trunks protested weakly but went in and brought her out, ignoring her questioning. “We are going back to the castle.” Vegeta explained and then the woman ran back inside which annoyed him but it only took her a minute to grab all her stuff. Vegeta threw Trunks a long cloak which he stubbornly placed on. Seneca threw the capsule on the ground and an air bike popped open. Vegeta was ready to take off but his eyes caught Trunks. The boy stood there staring at the bike with an expression of fear, or amazement. It was absolutely impossible to tell. Vegeta went to the boy, watching the far-off gaze of the blue skies. Seneca called the boy’s name and then suddenly he popped back into reality, shaking his head, swallowing.
“Sorry.” He smiled though it was hardly convincing and Vegeta eyed him which made him extremely nervous. Trunks just ignored him and lifted the hood over his head, hiding all of his features from the world. He lifted in the air, flashes of light blinded him while he followed his father out.

Oh, yea it’s possible. You humans. Disgusting. We’ve had this invention since twenty some years ago. I don’t know how it all works. Don’t care. Now come on. You’ve stayed here too long.” The man mumbled as he slid down the space station, his slim being left behind him.

He had seen those things before. They were called capsules.
But just as quickly as the vision came, Trunks forced itself out of his head. There was no point in remembering anything. Memories will only bring pain. There had to be a reason for his memory loss and he should be thankful for it. Two months of his life he had gained back and those were nothing he wished to remember. Who knows the life he had before then. What if it was just as awful?
But what if it wasn’t? What if his life was good and happy and full of fantastic memories? They had to be, compared to what he has seen and what Seneca has told him. And remembering them might shine in happiness that he had forgotten. Or it will tear him apart because of the things that he had done in Klooer’s hands. And that was the reason he shouldn’t remember. He could already feel shame and regret swelling up every time he glanced at Seneca. It would only get worse the more he remembers.
“Will I finally be able to meet mother?” Vegeta nodded and Trunks mind changed it’s course and began thinking about the beautiful woman that birthed him.

Bra entered Goten’s quarters finding him pacing in front of the fireplace. “What’s the matter?”
“I think there is something wrong with Kali.”
“How do you mean?” Her defensive tone did not go unnoticed but Goten ignored it for now.
“I felt something. He came here. And threatened me. But it was different. His voice sounded different.”
“Well, he jealous, Goten. And he’s a little pissed off. But other then that-”
Goten finally stalled in his pacing and stood before her. “I think he’s the one.”
“The one what?”
“The one’s that has been destroying the planets.”
She laughed, “Are you kidding? Listen, I know you think Kali is a really mean guy, but he’s not like that. He can’t kill an innocent person.”
“I think he has changed, Bra.”
“Goten, do you realize what you’re saying? You saying Kali is a mass murderer. That’s ridiculous. It’s one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.”
“I know you don’t believe me, and I don’t expect you to. But I am going to tell your father.”
“What, are you kidding? Goten, you can’t do that. If you’re wrong, that will be one more thing my father and people will hate about you.”
“But if I’m right, I will save you. He is dangerous Bra. He came here and he threaten me. He told me everyone will see.”
“See what?”
“See how strong he is.”
“That’s a Sayian, Goten. That’s all Sayians talk about. Their strength. It doesn’t mean Kali is a killer. I agree he is a little off but you don’t know what he has been through. It will take a bit of time for him to come back to himself.”
“I don’t want to risk that. I know something, and I have got to let Vegeta know.”
“No, I won’t let you.” She hurried in front of the door, blocking his only exit “Goten, trust me about him. He couldn’t do that.”
“Bra, he’s no longer the same. I think it got to him in a bad way. I feel something within him. Something that’s not natural.”
“If there was anything unnatural in him, don’t you think my father, his own father, would have seen it?”
“I don’t know. But I have.”
“You’re wrong, Goten. That’s all I have to say. If you go to my father, then all it’s saying is that you hate Kali and you want to hurt him.”
“Hate Kali? Bra this has nothing to do with-”
“That’s how everyone will see it. That’s how my father will see it. That you feel threatened. And he will hate you more. Is that what you want? Then fine go ahead. Just don’t come to me when you are exiled from this planet.” She exited not allowing Goten to say anything more about her Kali.

How to explain this to her without her walking away? Vegeta stood in the doorway of their bedroom where Bulma worked diligently, mumbling to herself, cursing and scratching out lines with her pen, the needle laid safely in a protective package and the lab readouts spread across her desk. That was a different subject that needed to be talked about but first this was about their son. Trunks was in the living room, staring at his back, begging silently to hurry it up so he could finally meet his mother. Maybe he should just push Bulma out there and let her deal with it on her own. But that again wasn’t fair. He had to explain it to her first. He had to at least try.
“Woman.”
Bulma jumped and spun around panting. “You scared the crap out of me.” She sighed softly gazing at him with wide eyes. “What?”
“I need you to listen to me.”
Bulma knit her brows and released her pen. “Okay.”
“Do you know of the Dragon Balls?”
A large grin set on her lips as she chuckled a bit, “I see you’ve talk to Goten.”
“So you know?”
“Yes, they can grant any wish. That’s a bunch of bullshit, Vegeta. Please don’t tell me you paid any attention to what he had to say.”
“He made the wish, Bulma.”
“What wish? What are we even talking about. Vegeta, it’s a stupid, silly myth. It’s like finding gold at the end of a rainbow, it’s not really there. You can’t say you believed him.”
“I did not learn this from Goten. Woman, I have seen him.”
“Who? And don’t tell me my son.” Bulma stood and crossed her arms waiting for Vegeta to speak again but upon his silence her smile slowly ebbed away and the look his eyes told her all she needed to know. Anger and bitterness was the only tone she could produce as she spoke, “So let me get this straight. You’re telling me that the son I held in my arms as blood poured out of his little heart. As I watched him becoming colder and paler, and as I gazed into his eyes as his soul left his body, you’re standing here to tell me that he has been wished back to life?”
“Woman, I have talked with him. Seen him. I would not be here if it were not true.”
“Unbelievable. Maddox was right. You haven’t changed a bit.” Bulma shoved past him ignoring his shout to wait and continued into the living room.

Trunks was sitting, sloughing, standing, leaning, having no idea what was the best way to meet his mother for the first time. What would he say? “Hi, I’m your son?” That just sounded stupid. She would know her own son when she saw him. Wouldn’t she? Moms always know. And yet what would he know of a mother? The only person he remembered that taught him anything was Klooer but he didn’t want to think of that.
Trunks sat down wishing their conversation would hurry up, this waiting was driving him crazy. He looked over himself quickly and stood to yank off the brown cloak that he had worn. He fixed his spandex shirt and rubbed his hands to get the dirt gone from them. He suddenly wished for a mirror. He could have at least showered before doing this.
“Wait.” His father’s voice was loud and direct and Trunks eyes lifted.
Bulma entered the room in a hurry however her eyes barely missed the blur of lavender on the couch. At first she thought it was Bra but now turning her eyes toward the couch she saw him stand.
