Vegeta felt the massive power before he notice any disturbances. He was sweating profusely and blood dripped down his brow. He had never battled with so many in such limited time, his body wasn’t used to this. But when all that surrounded him stalled in their attacks he was finally able to find the owner.

Far below them, Kali stood looking up at him. Vegeta dropped from the sky and landed twenty feet from the half-breed.

Though he was worn, he still had much power that had yet to be released. And looking upon Kali, he finally noticed the changes. His eyes were darker, unfamiliar. The scars that adorned his skin vibrantly stood out and Vegeta narrowed his eyes. “What happen to you, Kali? Why did you take Trunks?” He asked the question that had been plaguing him. Kali had been his student, from the time that the boy was old enough to fight. He taught the kid everything that Vegeta had wanted to teach his own son. And to see the hate that lingered in his black orbs was enough to cause confusion. Kali would have been his heir to the throne. What had caused this great change in him? Why betrayal after so many years of honoring him?

“The blame is solely on you, Vegeta. You took Bra from me.” Kali’s power was rising. Vegeta eyes widened. “Are you ready for this, my king!” He spat violently and the ground began to shake. With a giant yell Kali transformed into a Super Sayian. As Vegeta watched with a amazement, Kali smirked, “I’m not finished.” Another wave of power struck the ground and shoved back all remaining Sayians a mile distance. Except Vegeta. Vegeta stood still with a ki wrap covering his form. Kali transformed once more. How the boy managed to create that much power in such limited time caused question.

Vegeta smirked with annoyance. With little ease and with in only a few seconds, Vegeta changed into Super Sayian two. “I see you a found secret. Tell me, how did Turles do it?”

“The power was inside me, Turles just got it out.”

“I don’t doubt it.” Vegeta bit. “So you fight with no honor.”

“Honor has done nothing but control my life. Honor for my father, honor for the throne. What has honor done for me other then make me weak!”

“Honor is what makes you Sayian.”

“Well, I’m not a full-blood, my lord. I am half human and we both know how treacherous humans can be.” Kali pushed from the ground, the dirt floor coming completely undone as he blasted toward Vegeta.

Vegeta battled with Kali as best as he could. But something was holding him back. He didn’t want to fight. There was something wrong with Kali, he had to find out. He couldn’t kill the boy it just wasn’t right. Kali needed to be saved.

These thoughts however were not treating him well. Vegeta was unable to use his full potential. His mind was not in it and neither was his heart. There was no way to win this. Kali was still in there somewhere, behind this façade of hatred.

Vegeta growled after receiving a blow to the head. Though, he didn’t want to fight, the boy was relentless. Kali flew back, landing on his feet. “Why won’t you fight!” Kali hollered, shoving himself from the ground and throwing a hard fist into Vegeta’s face, but quickly the King blocked the hit, and blocked the next kick. Kali jumped back again, “STOP defending and start fighting!” He screamed, his hand held out as power surged forth. Vegeta crossed his arms in front of his chest quickly but felt the powerful heat burn his arms. He kicked out and the blast hit the ground. Vegeta panted watching the planet shake and crack. He didn’t sense Kali behind until too late and with clasped hands, Kali slammed them on Vegeta’s back sending him crashing to the ground.

Kali dropped to the floor and folded his arms. A large smirk spread on his features. Victory was approaching. He watched the King try and get up but again and again he failed. The Sayian’s back was bleeding profusely. He had put a ki beam into that last hit, but it hadn’t done what he wanted. Either way, the King was going to die.

“How does it feel, Vegeta. To be in the hands of someone more powerful, and better then you can ever imagine. To be controlled. I have the power to end your life whenever I wish. To strip you of your title and your honor. Doesn’t it feel great?” He bit.

Vegeta chuckled, his eyes going to the half-breed who stared wide eyed. “Do you want pity?”

Kali growled slamming his foot in the side of Vegeta’s stomach. But the King’s laughter just continued so Kali went on with his assault kicking him over and over again until blood staring pouring from Vegeta‘s mouth. “Losing your mind to the pain, Vegeta?”

“Listening to your pathetic excuses is humorous enough.”

Kali crossed his arms, smirking, “I wish I could have seen your bullshit before I believed everything you had to say. Turles--”

“Turles is full of revenge. He is using you, to get to me. I should have killed him.” Vegeta pushed himself to his hands and knees, groaning silently at the pain. His broken ribs were poking against his abdomen and rubbing against his lungs, making it very difficult to take full breaths.

Kali paced like a wild animal as he watched the man. “Why get up?” He snapped. “Admit defeat.” Kali‘s fists tightened, but still Vegeta tried to rise. “Why can’t you ever give up!” His power quickly exploded, throwing Vegeta’s body hundreds of feet away.

Vegeta coughed violently when he landed, he cursed himself; this really wasn’t going the way he wanted. He wanted Kali to believe him powerless to catch him off guard, but the more he pretended the more it was becoming a fact. Vegeta rolled on his stomach, pushing himself from the floor to get to his knees.

Kali dropped down in front of him, pacing wildly again. “Answer me this one question. Why couldn’t I have Bra?”

Vegeta shook his head, clenching the ground to hold himself up while he spit blood from his mouth. “Blame me for your mistake.” Vegeta stood on shaking legs, soon however standing strong, the only sign of injury was the blood from his face. “You kept your courting a secret. By the time I knew it was too late.”

“Fucking Bullshit!” Kali slammed his fist into his face and Vegeta fell once again to the floor. Kali took advantage and rammed his foot in Vegeta’s stomach with each word he spoke. “You. Would’ve. Destroyed. My. Honor!” Kali pulled back, panting heavily, watching Vegeta roll to his side to empty even more blood from his mouth. His Sayian healing was not repairing as quickly as he needed it too.

Kali paced, running his hands through his short hair, trying to keep himself from killing the disgraced king before he had his say.

Vegeta glared, wondering silently to himself if Kali was still there somewhere. What if he was wrong, and the boy he helped raise was actually dead? “You think my honor wasn’t taken from me?” He panted. “The court disowned me. My father included. They repeatedly tried to kill the woman. But I fought. I proved myself worthy and destroyed the court, overpowered my father and defeated the enslaver of my race. You. Just gave up. Goten, however a less worthy mate for Bra, fought.”

“You dare compare!” Kali laughed insanely. “I was going to kill you last.” He broke off and suddenly lunged at Vegeta, shoving the man down and holding a large boot onto his neck, nearly crushing his throat. “Surrender to me, and I will spare your kingdom.”

He felt the pressure lessen just enough for him to respond, “Never.”

Before anything else, Vegeta saw only a glimpse of Radditz as he smashed his foot into Kali’s head. Kali went crashing to the floor, and Radditz stood in front of him in a fighting stance. “You still have much to learn.” Radditz chided, knowing that what he had just done risked his life. His body was already partially torn, Turles had certainly done a number on him but he still had fight left in him.

Kali stood, angered, brushing off the dirt. Wide, shocked eyes landed on his father. “Stay out of this, father.”

“I was stupid. I thought that the King could save you. But I underestimated you as I’ve always done.”

“Why interfere!”

“Vegeta cannot be killed. He is ruler of this universe.”

“He is nothing! I am more powerful then he can ever be!
Radditz shook his head. “You have changed to drastically to be King. I was blind before but no longer.”

“So you turn your back on your own son! Never once were you behind me!”

“I am servant to the throne. And all threats will be fought.”

“Nobel father.” He spat with humorous sarcasm. “Don’t you see what he has done! He’s tricked you! He has controlled your life, and made you betray your own son. I will help you, father. I will kill him.”

“Turles got to you too effectively to be helped.--”

“So what now!” He laughed. “You wish to kill me? Your son!” His smile suddenly vanished. “Not if I kill you first.” The blast went straight through his stomach, Radditz fell harshly to the floor.

Vegeta watched with wide eyes. He got to his hands and knees, cringing with each crawl before resting back on his feet and sitting beside Radditz, shocked at the hole that spread through his belly. Radditz was grasping for air, blood was pouring from his mouth. “Save him, Vegeta. Don’t let Kagan be like this.” His eyes were staring straight to the sky, concentrating on something only he could see. A smile formed on his lips. “Maddox.” And with that last breath, Radditz did not move again.

Vegeta turned his eyes to Kali who gazed at the empty body that once held Radditz’s soul. Vegeta watched the emotions that flipped over and over on his features. Tears dripped down and yet a triumphant smirk held tight on his lips.

And suddenly Vegeta realized that Kali could no longer be helped. Vegeta cursed himself silently, there was no fight left in him, Kali had drained him too much and damaged him too badly. He had been stupid and now his whole kingdom was going to pay for it.

His eyes however caught a bright light to his right. There on the castle steps stood a figure with a golden hue encircling him. With wide eyes, Vegeta saw Trunks, tears dripping from his eyes and an expression that was out for revenge.

Then the figured disappeared and Vegeta turned his head to where Trunks now stood. In front of him, facing Kali. Without a word, Trunks attacked.

Vegeta watched with amazement but then something hit him. If Trunks was so upset and out for revenge. Then something must have happened to Bulma.

Vegeta got to his feet and ran to the castle, he griped his side, groaning all the while and making his way to Turles’ ki. The doors were already open and with relief he leaned against the door frame, just in time to see his mate kiss the lips of Turles.
