Chapter 2--

18 Years Later…..

~~~~~~`
"Hey, Arcadia, what for me!"
"Well, hurry up, Goten!"
"Hey, I'm carrying weight here!" Goten struggled with the baggage that dangled in his arms as he heightened his ki to catch up to his brother.
Arcadia dived into clouds as he spun in mid-air, before lazily dropping from the sky with his hands behind his head, taking in the pure air as it whizzed around him, "Then lose a few pounds!"
"That isn't what I meant!"
Arcadia laughed, flicking his lavender strands behind his ears before he blasted up to catch his younger brother. "Do you think mom will like what we got her?" He asked flying beside him.
"I sure hope so, it cost a pretty penny."
"Hey I'm the one who paid for it!"
"I'm paying half of it back."
"Yeayea, like I haven't heard that one before." The two young ones dropped from the sky on to their front lawn. "I'll distract her while you bringing it 'round back."
"How are you going to do that?"
"Well, I'll ask her if she'll cook me something."
"Dinner's in an hour dufus."
"All right then. I'll do what I always do whenever we plan things. I asked about my heritage." He grinned.
"Arcadia, you know it always upsets her when you do that."
"But it sure is fun. Now go before she just happens to come out and surprise us." Goten hauled up the luggage again and hurried around back.
Arcadia walked through the front door grinning when he stepped into the kitchen to find his mother and father kissing. He coughed while his cheeks burned with embarrassment. He hated when they did that. The two quickly separated. His father goofy waved, "Hey son."
"Hey, Dad, mom."
"What aren't you in school?" Chi-Chi quickly barged her questions as she stepped up to him, poking her finger into his chest accusingly, glaring up at him.
He was quick to defend himself, putting his hands in front of him in surrender, "I didn't have class today."
"Why's that? School is every day except Saturday and Sunday."
"Yeah, that's in normal school. But in collage you get to make your own schedule."
Chi-Chi glared at him for a moment searching his blue eyes for any signs of fabrication behind them but he innocently stared down at her with a humorous smile before he kissed her cheek, "What's for dinner, Mom?"
"Get, Get, Get!" She shooed him away from the stove so he wouldn't try and get a taste, something that he learned from his father. "Pork and rice. Where's your brother?"
"Oh out back." He said casually as he sat down at the kitchen table.
"Why?" She inquired.
He shrugged, "No reason. Hey, dad, I was wondering if there was any more information about my biological parents."
Before Goku could answer, Chi-Chi was quick to interrupt as she snapped her body around with a wooden spoon in grip, "What are you and Goten up to!?" She quickly accused.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He shook his head with a smile. Goten should have it set up by now so letting her find out wouldn't be too bad.
"Lie! You were never a good liar, Arcadia." She quickly smashed her spoon down, yanking off her apron, "If its another pet, Arcadia, I swear you and Goten will be grounded for months!" She stomped her way down the halls turning into the screened in pool area before letting the screen door smash behind her only to stall in front of a grinning Goten.
Arcadia quickly hurried to his brother's side after grabbing his father and following behind her. "Happy Birthday, mom!" The two boys exclaimed.
"But my birthday isn't until tomorrow, and how the hell did you get this?" She stared in awe at the swing double seat-er that she had always wanted.
"Well, we knew it wasn't until tomorrow but we wanted to surprise ya. And with my job," A shove from his brother made him correct his words, "and Goten's we saved enough to buy it for you. So do you like it?"
"I love it. It's so wonderful. Thank you, boys." She let her fingertips run over it before taking her seat in the covered seat. Smiling broadly at her family, "It's so comfy."
"Yep, we thought you could use it after your long house working days. And besides you always looked uncomfortable whenever you watched us swimming from your rock."
After dinner past, the boy's set up the swing over by the lake in the backyard before throwing themselves in the nice crisp water before being called in by their mother for some reason. The two pushed and shoved and fought as they went into the living room where their parents sat with a more depressing demeanor then usually causing their playful antics to come to a halt. "Who died?" Goten was quick to ask but instead of an answer they were directed to the couch.
"Goten, you may go to your room or back to your apartment, we just need to talk to Arcadia."
"No, it's ok." Arcadia quickly assured knowing he would have told Goten whatever they said anyway. "What's up, mom?"
Chi-Chi's black eyes drifted over to her husband, trying to gain assurance in their future conversation. Goku nodded in response, smiling stupidly. She relaxed at his mood, grabbing his large rough hand in her own. "Honey, since you're eighteen now, we thought it best to tell you everything about who you are."
Arcadia scooted forward in his seat, placing his elbows on his knees with knitted lavender brows, "Whole Story? I thought you all ready told me all you could."
"Well…" She strained, "Not the 'whole' story."
"Why now?" Goten quickly cut in, growling dangerously at his parents.
"Goten, please. You know why. We have too."
"You don't! Why do you want to ruin this?"
"Honey, we don't want too but he has the right to know."
Goten snapped his head away before he flew to his feet and stomped over to the window, crossing his arms over his stubborn chest. Chi-Chi sighed resting her forehead in her hand. "Mom." Arcadia spoke, "What's wrong? Why is Goten so upset?"
"All right. Please listen before you blow up out of control. It's hard enough for me to say this but your father's right. It's time."
"Time for what? Come on, guys. What don't I know?"
"Arcadia, you know how special you are. You have powers and abilities that regular humans don't possess."
"But so does Dad and Goten and Gohan. I'm no different."
"You're right. You're no different from them. But honey, what they know is totally different from what you know. They know, they aren't human. And neither are you."
"What are you talking about? Of course we're human. What else can we be?"
"We don't know, Arcadia. But you aren't human, honey."
"Stop saying that!" He snapped to his feet. "So what I have powers, that doesn't mean I'm not human, mom!"
Chi-Chi stood also trying to calm her son from his anger. "Listen to me. We took your blood when you were a baby, it matched that of Goten's and Gohan's DNA structure. The four of you are not humans. We don't know what you are. But you are not of this world." Her son said nothing, just stared at her in disbelief before his legs gave out beneath him causing his body to land on the couch in shock. His advanced mind went over all of these thoughts as why she would say such things about him.
Chi-Chi sat beside him, taking his large hands into her lap, "Honey, this is as hard for me as it is for you to hear it. But you must know. Goku found you. And when he did you were in this circle machine that crash landed on earth from outer space. It was open and you were in there just crying. That's when he brought you here. And honey I love you as though you were my own. You are my own." She reassured as she graced his pale cheek, "After your father took you out it closed up. There must have been some serious damage since the outside looked so banged up causing it to forever be closed. Goku took that machine and hid at the base of our mountain. And for eighteen years your father, Goten and I have tried continuously to get it open. Thinking maybe the information on who you are will be revealed. But the three of us aren't good with technology. Unlike you. You knew from the age of one that you were smarter then any creature on this planet. You have a mind that astonishes the most brilliant of men. So maybe you'll be able to open it. But you have got to believe me. You aren't human, honey."
"That's why you named me Arcadia." He whispered. "I came from the stars." He stared numbly down at his lap as his mother confirmed his words. Arcadia suddenly stood ignoring the plea of his mother. "I have to go. I need to be alone." He ran out of the house and blasted into the air without one glance toward his paining brother.
~~~```

Arcadia gently pushed upon his toe, making his mother's swing sway as he stared out onto the lake where he had been for the past three hours, just thinking of his mother's words. He knew they weren't his biological parents. He could tell just by looking at them, seeing them all with black eyes and hair while he was an awkward purple. He should have figured the difference. He should have known and shouldn't have allowed himself to actually believe that he was somewhat like every body else. But if he wasn't human then what the hell was he?

That was the question that was plaguing his mind. What was he and who was he. Why was he sent to Earth? Why wasn't he with his real parents right now. Did they not want him? Were they ashamed because of his color? Of his strength? Did they somehow know that he had super powers? Maybe. Maybe they didn't. Maybe they just didn't want a child.

His eyes glanced back up at the house, hearing the screen door shut even though it was a hundred yards away. This was the life he'd always known. It never really bothered him that much until only a couple of years ago when it started to matter. When his hair had changed color and his eyes became teal only because he was angry. That's when it mattered. He started to ask questions. But his mother would always start with 'Why don't you want us as your parents?' or 'Why do you want to hurt me?'. It was always about his mother. It was his only reason why he hadn't really done a full scale search on who he was. He didn't want to hurt her.

"Mind if I sit down?"

Arcadia's eyes roamed up the bulky figure of his father. How could he be so calm about not being human? Why wasn't he freaking out like him? "I can't stop you." He mumbled back, bringing his eyes back to the calm and silent lake.

Goku took a seat next to him, allowing the night to relax his sore muscles from his earlier training with Goten. "Your mother's worried."

"She always worries."

Goku laughed, "She sure does."

Arcadia sighed, dropping his head down on the swing only to stare up at the roof clad top. "How can you stand it?"

"Stand what?"

"Knowing that you aren't human? Doesn't it bother you, dad?"

"Arcadia, I know nothing else. I'm just as much human as Krillen. Just as you are."

"But we're not. We come from a different world. Doesn't that bother you to not know where?"

"No. I like my life here. Why would I want to know something that doesn't mean anything?"

"Arg! Dad, you don't understand!" He snapped to his feet and paced before the swing. "Doesn't anyone understand why this bothers me so much."

"Goten does. He wants to know as much as you."

"What are you talking about, Dad? You saw Goten before. He didn't even want me to know."

"Because he doesn't want to lose you, Arcadia."

"Then he shouldn't have kept it from me. He knew, Dad. You knew. You all knew."

"Now you know. So what's the problem?"

Arcadia stared at his father before chuckling and throwing himself on the ground. His limps spread wide as he gazed up at the twinkling stars. "Forget it."

"If you want. I'll take you to the cave tomorrow. Maybe you can figure out some things. But before the night ends, son. Speak to your mother. She is the one who wanted to keep it from you, Arcadia. She'll tell you why if you ask her." Goku walked away.

Arcadia rolled his eyes. Speaking to his mother wasn't something he really wanted to do right now. But then again, he wasn't one to cower from things. He had to face her.

His eyes wildly searched the sky, wondering what star above he had fallen from.

~~```

Arcadia entered the kitchen with the morning rays on his back. He made his way to his room, stalling before the door at the sight of his mother curled up on his bed. He cracked a half-smile. He did truly love her. She was the best mother in the world besides all of her faults. Arcadia made his way to the side of the bed, sitting gently on it and kissing her cheek, "Mom, it's me. Wake up, I need to talk to you."

She groaned and wiggled before her eyes fluttered open instantly connecting with the gorgeous blue eyes of her son. "Arcadia." She sighed in relief as she wrapped him up in a huge, squeezing the life out of him. She only released when he started to choke from breath, "Sorry." She straightened her composure before flinging to her feet, "And just where were you all night, buddy?! I understand you're a collage boy now and have your own apartment but when you come and visit me you have a curfew, do you understand me!?"

He smiled at her, "Yeah, mom. I got you."

"Good. Now I better go make breakfast."

Arcadia quickly grabbed her arm gently, "Mom, it's only five in the morning. Besides I kind of need to talk to you."

"Oh. Ok." She nervously took her seat on his bed next to him. "Go ahead."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

She dropped her head to stare at her fingers in her lap. Her long black hair hiding her facial features while she bit her lip in thought. "Arcadia, I was afraid that once you found out who you were, you would leave to go search for them. I didn't want to lose you."

"Mom." He whispered before tucking her silky hair behind her ear wanting to catch her eyes, "Listen. I do want to know. And if they are out there, I want to find them."

"Why, Arcadia? Why can't you just stay here where you belong?"

"Cause I don't belong here, mom. And you know it. Maybe I'll meet some people with my power and my intelligence. Maybe I won't have to hide it where I'm from. And because I need to know why my biological parents gave me up. Why didn't they want me."

"But that's not important. You are my son. I took care of you. I taught you your life lessons, I have more right to you then those people who created you."

"Yes you do. I know that. I am your son. No matter who's blood runs through me. But I need answers. You have to understand that."

"Oh, you are just like Goku! I don't have to understand anything. You belong to me."

He laughed before grabbing his mother in a hug feeling her strength as she hugged him back, "You're my mother. I love you. And if you love me, you'll stand behind me every step of the way. I'll need you with this."

"Oh, Arcadia when did you get so grown up?"

"I think…when I was five." She laughed in his chest before pulling away and slapping his arm.

"Come on. I'll make you breakfast so you can get an early start with your father." Arcadia grinned.
