Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ So Blue ❯ Pride ( Chapter 3 )
~~````` Chapter 3
"This is it." Goku announced as he and his son dropped down before the closed in cave. He lifted his hand and blasted all the boulders away before stepping inside with Arcadia in tow. After maneuvering around several paths they finally came to an opening that was all ready lit by lights on the ceiling. "Goten put these up. He comes down here an awful lot trying to figure out how to open this thing. We never got anywhere with it. We couldn't use power since we were afraid we might ruin something important so it got pretty frustrating. But if anyone can open it, it's you son." Goku slapped his hand on his son's shoulder.
"Thanks, Dad."
"No prob. I'll be outside training if you don't need me in here. Believe me I'll be no help." He grinned before bounding out of the cave.
Arcadia shook his head, "That's for sure." He whispered but smiled anyway before making his way over to the large round contraption.
His small fingertips graced the foreign spelling that was painted on the side. His brows knit having never seen anything like it before. He knew over twenty languages and text, never had he seen one as unique and beautifully crafted as this. Arcadia moved before the small red window which was probably the front and put his face against it trying to peer in. He saw a large seat and buttons all along the side.
Arcadia stood back and crossed his arms over his chest, scowling at the machine. It would take awhile, but it wasn't impossible. As his father said, 'if anyone could do it, it's him.'

Arcadia wiped the sweat from his brow as he continued to place the wires in the butt of the machine together. One of the wires had to be the one to open the damn thing up. Two days straight sometimes going with out eating only stopping when his father complained enough about being hungry, he had worked on this fascinating machine. Whoever built it was more brilliant then himself, and that excited him to know extent. To actually know that somewhere in the universe someone actually would be able to talk to them about things he knew no other human in the world could even fathom.
The round spaceship had to have taken a serious beating. Dents were all along the sides, one even piercing through in the generator. Whatever had done it, had to have been seriously strong considering the type of metal, which by the way was not of this earth. Even for his Sayian strength he was barely able to get the covering of the engine off.
Thinking that his inner power of bright lights would be able to burn through, he first tried that. Only that failed after a whole hour of keeping his heated inner light on one single spot. Didn't even cause a slightest burn mark. Whoever made this had certainly made sure nothing could get in without the proper button or code.
Arcadia's eyes squinted as the electricity sparked when two wires connected. He listened carefully wanting to know if this was the final wire to open the door only to hear absolute silence. He growled from deep in his throat, something he was born to do, and smashed his fish on the ground causing spider cracks to break the dirt floor.
"Frustrating, I know."
Arcadia popped his head up to see his brother standing before him. "Goten. What are you doing here?"
"Well, I thought I could be some help. I know I'm not really smart like you but when it comes to mechanics I kind of know what I'm doing." He grinned.
Arcadia smiled, "Come here and look at these guts. It's so confusing. Even I'm having a hard time figuring it out."
"You, have a hard time?" Goten played as plopped himself on the ground and pushed his head to look inside. His eyes widened, "You weren't kidding."
"The energy that feeds this machine is like nothing I've known before. The battery is made up of a solid electrifying current wave that has seemingly unending energy. It's fuels are made of subatomic atoms that seem to liquefy into the purest form of molecules. I've never seen anything like it."
"I have not one freaking clue what you just said but sure. Ok. What do we have to do?"
"All we have to do is get it open. None of these wires seem to be it so that's telling me that there was no damage to the door. Or there is and that is why it's not opening."
"So in another words, you've been looking at these wires for the past two days and haven't gotten anywhere?"
"Correct."
"All righty then, let's set up camp, get some music, some food and collage will just have to wait. I'm failing anyway."
"Dork."

"We have been working on this baby for a week and still haven't made any progress. This is ridiculous." Goten let his body fall back on the ground, staring in aggravation at the rock ceiling.
"Damn it. We need to get in there. Maybe there's like a voice code or something."
"A voice code?"
"I've seen it once." Arcadia quickly defended. "That American movie…What was it… Oh! From Aladdin and the King of Thieves. It was like Open sesame." The two both glanced back at the machine, only to be disappointed when it didn't do anything.
Goten smacked his brother's arm, "Dumbass, you didn't actually think that was going to work did ya? And besides, why the hell do you remember something like that?"
"It was a great movie!"
"You're weird."
"You're weirder."
"Hey, Arcadia."
"Yeah, Bro?" Arcadia threw his screw driver at the stupid machine before taking a seat next to his brother by the firing, casually throwing little pebbles into it.
"Have you ever thought, what if we found something out we're better off not knowing?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, we have powerful strength and abilities. We love to battle and spar so…What if we're like warriors that terrorize the universe, or something?"
Arcadia threw a rock at him causing his brother to flinch, "Oh, come on. You've been watching way too many movies. Besides, can you ever imagine dad killing something?"
Goten laughed, "I guess you're right. Ain't no way dad could possibly harm anything but our pride."
The two stalled as a nose rumbled through the cave. Their eyes wide as they slowly turned their heads, jaws dropping open when then took in the sight of the machine's door unclosed for the first time in eighteen years. Both quickly jumped to the feet, "What'd we do?!" Arcadia quickly asked as he ran his fingers across the door.
"I don't know! This is so cool!" Both boys stuck their heads in the opening.
"It is so big!" Their voices echoed together.
"For one person. "Arcadia quickly corrected as he graced the side control panels with his fingertips. "I can't believe. All right, quickly what was the last thing we were saying."
"Umm.. Umm…Shit!" Goten smacked his forehead, "I don't remember."
"OK. OK. Let's breath here. OK. We were talking about fighting and dad."
"He could never kill anything."
"The only thing he could hurt is our pride." The boys pushed themselves back as the door began to close, "Pride!" Arcadia quickly screamed, grinning insanely as it opened back up. "Goten, we did it!" The boys ran into a big bear hug before flying out of the caves and whipping through the air, "We did it! We did it!" Arcadia chanted to the skies. He stalled for a moment just to stare up at the faded stars, smiling only to himself. 'One more step and I'll be able to find you.' He thought with a pleasantry and excitement he had never once felt before.
