~~~~`` Chapter 7 Don't help
It was like nothing he had ever seen before in his entire existence. His ship had flown for only six hours and he was all ready passing Pluto. Arcadia hadn't thought it was possible to reach such lengths of outer space in such little time but the engine on this baby could surely move. Only problem was. He had no idea where he was going having never known of a universe outside the Solar System. The foreign language on his computer has yet to be completely decoded. Only a few more symbols and everything should be entirely Japanese.
He hadn't really put thought into just how boring it would be in here, all by himself. But it was now all starting to sink in as he paced the floor of the kitchen/control room. TV only entertained him for only a few seconds and reading never got his full attention considering he could finish a four hundred page book in two hours.
A beeping on the main screen activated as an image of a Satellite popped up in the middle of it. Arcadia looked at his location finding out he was now right outside of the Earth's known territory. His lavender brows knit in confusion having never heard of a Satellite put out this far by human researchers and just as that thought crossed the video screen appeared. A fat huge green slug-looking creature stared at him before his voice grumbled some unintelligibly words but his computer was quickly to interrupt. "What Planet are you from and what do you need?"
"Earth and nothing really. I'm looking for someone."
"Earth? Since when did the people of Planet Earth become smart enough to build ships strong enough to reach outside their territory?"
"Since I was born."
"And who are you, human?"
"Arcadia Son. You're name, sir?"
"None of your damn business. What is it that you need, youngin?"
"What is this place?"
"You humans. So ignorant. It's a check in station. And in case you don't know what that means, you can get fuel, food, and a place to rest for a few hours. Though it does come at a price."
"I only have Earth money."
"You can trade it here for universal coins. That's the only way you'll be able to buy anything. I take it you ain't never been to this part of space before?"
"No, sir. I haven't."
"Ain't that a surprise. Humans think they know goddamn everything. Well, dock up. I ain't got all day, you know."
"You said what?!" Bulma screamed with her hands on her hips. Vegeta rolled his eyes wanting to tear off his ears. She knew he had sensitive hearing, couldn't she take that into account when she goes off like this?
"I told her she wasn't allowed to see that fool anymore."
"Well, no wonder she's missing! You Jackass! What a chauvinist thing to do!"
"What the hell was I supposed to do? Just turn the other way while that unworthy ass seduces her."
"First of all you don't even know who it is--"
"That's beside the point--"
"Second of all, you haven't had any interest in your daughter's life since the day she was born. You can't expect her to listen to one word you have to say."
"I may not be the best parent in the fucking world, woman but I'll be damned if I allow her to mate anyone below her stature."
"Like you did?"
"What?"
"You're trying to keep her from the same mistake you did."
"Oh, don't pull this shit on me now! This isn't about us, woman!"
"It never is. But you're right. Let's just forget it. Like we always do. If you'll excuse me I need to go and fix what's left of my family." Vegeta flinched as she slammed the doors to the throne room. He sighed and rolled his eyes before letting his head fall into his hands as he rested himself on his dais. Never a normal conversation. But what did he expect? They always fought even before they were mates. However that was when it was fun. When he just wanted to see that fire in her beautiful eyes. Though that fire had been washed out a long time ago.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts of the past, quickly clearing his head and inviting the person in only to reveal Radditz proceeding down the blood red carpet toward the dais. "How long now?"
"We are two hours away from the solar system. After that it should only take four hours to reach Earth."
"Any alerts from the Cold Empire?"
"No, sir. It's like they haven't even detected our presence."
"That's the woman for you." He mumbled before slouching un-kingly like back into his chair. "Radditz?"
"Yes, Vegeta-sama?"
"Do you think…this mission is pointless?"
"Honestly, sir?" He received a nod. "No, sir."
"Huh. You're the only one that thinks so."
"Vegeta-sama. I had a brother once."
"You did?"
"Not many know about it. I was only fourteen when he was born. His power level wasn't that of a normal Sayian child so he was sent to another planet like brats with little strength. But something happened on his journey. We lost contact of the ship. Never once found him again. We're not sure what happen to him, a meteor shower, maybe Frieza had picked him up. We can only guess. Either way, he never made it."
"How do you know?"
"Because that planet still inhibits life form and is in perfect shape."
"You went looking for him?"
"Nope. Never got the chance. My father was denied permission. Your father told him it was a lost cause."
"Then how do you know of the planet's stability?"
"We're going to that planet."
"Earth."
"Yes. The point of my story, Vegeta. My father never gave up on looking for Kakarot. Every planet, every mission he continues to ask. So you can understand my father's excitement when he received word we were going here. But what I'm getting at. It's been forty years. And my father still knows that Kakarot is alive somewhere and as long as he continues to search, and until he finds him, his mission is not pointless."
"So you're saying that if I stop now, my whole life these past twenty years will be for nothing."
"If that's the way you want to see it." The two shared a smirk only to be thrown suddenly to the side before sirens began to sound throughout the entire ship. Vegeta jumped from his chair to the large window where a screen of the Cockpit bleeped on.
"Sir, meteor shower."
"Why didn't you see this before we hit it!?" Vegeta jumped into the air before the next onslaught of rocks could knock his body to the side.
"We thought we could go around it. But this ship is too big to move with such--"
"Shut up and get shooters out there now before it destroys my ship!"
"Yes sir!"
Vegeta turned back to Radditz, "Find my mate and daughter. Make sure they are protected and unharmed."
"This is a weird place."
"Hey, if you gots a problem with it, ain't no one stoppin ya to leave!"
Arcadia quickly apologized while rubbing the back of his head. A little trite that he had learned from his father. But also he was scratching the little chip that was plugged in back there. The guy had told him it was a universal transmitter that would allow him to understand all languages and speak them fluently. It had hurt only for a second but once done, Arcadia no longer needed to read out the message. He made sure to keep the little chip for further exploration of it's design.
"Capsule Corps. Huh?"
"Excuse me?"
The eight foot, slimy, and wide creature pointed with a arm of slob toward the side of his ship that had the symbol of C.C. on it's side. "Capsule Corps. Don't ya know what that stand for?"
"No, sir. I found it on a pod. That just a part of it that I used to make the rest of the metal to make my ship." Arcadia fidgeted under the creatures intimidating height as he stared with his head all the way back to look at the little slits he assumed where the man's eyes.
"Uh huh. And this pod. Where bouts you find somethin' like that?"
"I just found one on Earth, is all."
"Just found it, huh?"
"Yes, sir." His blue eyes nervously flicked side to side as long as he never once looked into those peering slits that seemed to have squinted together even more. "So…are we going to finish the tour? I kind of have a schedule to keep."
"Schedule? Oh. Yeah. Right. Hurry up then. I ain't have all day."
"I know. You told me."
