Chapter 12-- Lying for the Family

Goten eyed the creature before him, sizing up the man's power. He was suppressing it that was for certain. But that wasn't really what he was concentrating on. Something about this was weird. He had this nagging feeling in the back of his head that he knew exactly who this was but Goten for the life of him couldn't remember. There was something familiar about the royal couple, especially the blue haired female. She was quite beautiful as was her daughter. Goten turned his head catching the lavender woman staring at him but she immediately turned away trying to restrain a smile that was poking at her lips. He smirked.

"Boy." Vegeta barked growling mentally when he caught the glancing eyes of both the teenagers.

Goten snapped back, glaring, "Name's Goten."

"Don't care. We're here." With that the half of Sayians that stayed dropped from the sky while the other half continued on their course to their ship.

As Goten placed his feet on the floor, he automatically knew where he was as he stared at the cave. What could they possibly want with the pod? He didn't like this one bit. But he followed anyway behind as they went inside. "What did you do with my father?"

Bulma touched his shoulder, "Don't worry, we just want to ask him a few questions. He's apart of our race. We just want to know why he hasn't returned to us."

"So you're not going to hurt or dissect him or do anything alien thing?"

Bulma laughed while shaking her head only to completely lose her smile the moment Vegeta spoke, "What do you know of this pod?"

Goten eyed the Sayian King, wondering what exactly he should say. So he went for the silent type of response, "Nothing."

"Bullshit. Your scent revolves in this place. I advise you not to lie again if you don't want Kali to finish what he started, boy."

Goten rolled his eyes, "He could try."

Before he knew what happen, Goten was grabbed by the throat in the most painful grip he had ever experienced terminating his breathing capability. Goten dug his nails into the man's arm as he tried to get air into his closed lungs. "Then I will take his place. Tell me what you know of this pod now."

Bulma quickly intercepted by placing a hand on her husband's shoulder only to have him growl and bare his teeth, scaring her back. But once he saw whom it was his hold lessened and he dropped the boy. Vegeta turned his attention back to the half-breed, sneering at the pathetic sight of the creature coughing uncontrollably as he gasped for breath. His eyes widened however as he watched his daughter go to the kid's side. "Bra get back. Now."

Bra snapped her eyes up at her father, slit in hatred. She stood defiantly with her head held high as she glared, showing her obvious disapproval before running out of the cave. Vegeta rolled his eyes at her dramatic display. He would need to talk to her later. She was getting too much of a backbone if she dare challenge him in front of half of his squad.

Goten breathed heavily as he set his sight up to the alien, showing his absolute distaste by the shape of his eyes. This man certainly had a temper, that was the first thing Goten concluded. He stood strong once again with amusement in his lips. He actually might be a fun sparring partner.

"Do you know who came from this pod?"

Goten's brows knit as he stared at the King, his mind going in circles on what the alien wanted with Arcadia. His heart pounded in his chest for the reason that seemed more logical. They wanted Arcadia. To kill him? To take him away? Goten didn't care why, all that he knew was that he had to protect his older brother from these obvious merciless killers. Even if they were Sayian and might know of Arcadia's real parents, he couldn't risk it. He would not give up his brother without a fight. "Yes. But he died."

Goten watched the two royals for any reaction. However it wasn't what he expected. The one called Bulma stared at him for a moment, her blue eyes seemingly empty before she turned and hurried out of the cave, pushing everyone that was in her way out. His black eyes went to the king seeing Vegeta's eyes to the ground, fists clenching before he turned his head to the side, not moving his eyes just indicating to the one named Turles to go after her, to what Goten could gather as he left

When the alien king brought his eyes back up to his own, Goten couldn't tell what it was exactly that reflected in the man's eyes. "When?"

"When my dad found it, the baby inside was all ready dead. Probably the lack of food and water, or from the look of the machine took a really bad hit from the outside force. Why? Why do you need to know?"

"No reason that concerns you. We will leave this planet now." With that admission, Vegeta headed out, defeated, with all of the Sayian officers behind him."

Goten's brows knit. What the hell was this all about? What did they want with Arcadia? He needed find some reason without anyone knowing. Just incase it did lead to Arcadia's parents, Goten needed to make sure they never find him. He would not give up his brother and they will not take him from him. Goten ran out of the empty cave jumping in the air to go after them.

Goku dropped down by the side of the river bank. He stared at the motion of the water for a moment before turning his eyes down stream where his older twin sat, his knees up, elbows resting upon them while his hands rested clasped between them. The object that was over his eye before laid beside him, forgotten. Goku's eyes flicked up to the large oak that planted a few feet from the water. And there leaned against it was the long haired alien with his eyes closed.

Hesitantly, he stepped toward the one on the ground as quiet as he could so he wouldn't startle him. But what a wrong way to approach a Sayian. Goku completely un-prepared had his legs swiped from under him and a hand quickly choking the life out of him.

Bardock growled violently however once he saw the features of his attacker, his expression visibly softened as he loosened his hold, climbing off his lost son. "Never sneak up on a Sayian unless you want to die." He snapped before setting himself back down on floor.

Goku laughed, "Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind next time."

"What do you want? Do you not have a human home to return to?" Bardock spit bitterly never taking his eyes off the water.

Goku sat up resting his weight on his palms, "Yes actually. It's right behind those trees." He grinned.

"Return to it then." Goku looked behind him to see other warrior push himself from the tree defensively. "There is no purpose for you here, human."

"Radditz that's enough."

Radditz whipped his head away, growling in distaste while he let his tail slide from his waist and flap around wildly in his aggravation. Goku half-smiled finding it funny that the creature listened to Bardock when he was well past his fifties. "I take it they refreshed your memory." Goku brought his vision back to the warrior in front of him who refused to look at him.

"Pretty much. They said that I lost my memory somehow. "

"Lost memory my ass." Radditz quipped as he stomped his way over to his brother, Goku quickly rising to the challenge. "You simply forgot about us in your fucking human world. You are a disgrace."

Bardock growled as he rose to his feet, "You will stop now, Radditz. You are acting like a brat."

"You cannot tell me that you don't think the same, father! You have been searching for him for forty fucking years and he the whole time cared less. He didn't even know he was Sayian! He is not one ounce grateful for all we have sacrificed since he hadn't once thought of us for he was far too busy being human!"

"I said enough!" Bardock gripped Radditz shoulder, pushing him back over his outstretched leg, resulting his eldest son to fall straight on his back having not seen the quickness of his father's actions. Radditz gazed up at him shocked, his jaw hung open, his eyes wide. Bardock growled violently as he glared at him, "I would never hit my own son but if I hear you speak that way to your brother again you better be prepared. Understand, Radditz?" Goku watched his brother with curious eyes. Radditz tightened his cheek muscles, dropping his eyes to the ground to hold his anger, still not moving. "Tell me you understand." Bardock ordered.

Swallowing his rage, "Yes, sir." He spoke through knit teeth, panting heavily through his nose in order to calm his fury.

"Good." Bardock put out his hand, and reluctantly Radditz gripped it, being pulled to his feet. "Your mother would have had your throat if she knew what you were saying. So you respect her as though she were here."

"Yes, sir."

"Go back to the ship. I have a few words to say to your brother."

"He is not my brother." With that admittance, Radditz shot to the air.

Goku half frowned, "Why does he hate me? I didn't do anything."

Bardock gazed at the young Sayian, wondering what life the man could have had to make him seem so…relaxed and so un-Sayian that it made him sick. "Radditz has more then enough reason to be so stubborn. As do I. But I hold my anger better. Believe me, I would have said the same."

"Why? I don't understand."

"Of course you don't. You spent your whole life caring nil for the family that have looked for centuries for you. No one expects you to understand." Bardock whipped his body around taking several steps away then plopping himself on the ground, "Go away."

Goku thought for a moment, something that didn't come easily, but after living with Chi-Chi for so long, he thought it was time to do it. He stepped softly before setting himself down inches from his father, watching the little fishes in the stream. "My three sons, no matter how many times Chi-Chi yelled at them or told them hundreds of times not to think about it, always wondered how they were so strong. I was never able to tell them anything for I couldn't even remember how I got here. I knew I wasn't Earthling. That was figured out a long time ago. But I didn't want my sons knowing that they wouldn't be accepted here because they were so different. I thought that if I didn't question, they wouldn't think so much of it. And it worked so far. Except with Arcadia. He needed to know, no matter how impossible it seemed he would find a way. And he did. He left in search for answers. A part of me wished I could go. But if I had to chose between leaving Chi-Chi and the boys, and trying to find something I didn't know existed, it's not hard to pick which one. If I had known…I would be out there right now, like Arcadia, trying to find what I should be a part of."

The only sound for almost an hour was the water running constantly through the creek. Several times a few fish would jump from the water and give a little splash to the glass liquid. "Three, huh?" Goku laughed, nodding causing Bardock to chuckle. "Your mother would have loved to meet them. Hell she would have given anything to meet you."

"My mother? Where is she? When do I get to meet her?"

Bardock dropped his head before shaking it slowly. "It was about thirty years ago. Ten years of searching for you destroyed her. I regret every damn day allowing her to give birth the natural way. But if she wasn't so damn stubborn." He sighed. "Three months pregnant, usually the time when the child in the womb is taken out and put into an incubator to grow on it's own, she ran away. Hid herself on another planet in Frieza's territory so if a search was put out for her, no one could touch her. Had you in the middle of the woods. Don't know why she wanted to have you natural. Said she wanted to feel like a mother. No idea what that was to mean. She had Radditz the right way and was perfect with him. Anyway. It formed some kind of bond between you two. She wouldn't separate herself from you for months after your birth. Quit fighting and training just to care for you. Sayian mothers do not do such things. She was of coursed looked down upon by our race. Maybe that was why Late King Vegeta decided you were unworthy to be apart of us. He sent you out. Your mother cried for days. A woman that never cried once in her whole life couldn't stop. And when a few days past, we received word that your pod got blown up. But Lyta swore on Vela that you were alive. That she could feel you. And she was right. I thought it impossible but she was right." He chuckled thinking how much she would have loved to hear those words fall from his lips.

Goku stared at the ground, not knowing what to do nor say. He was saddened for some odd reason. A woman he didn't know died thirty years ago and he was filled with a sorrow he hadn't known existed. He wanted to remember just so he could say he knew the woman who had obviously loved him so much. But he couldn't and it made him feel sick to his stomach at that fact. There was nothing he could do now. He knew that. Keeping that in mind, he pushed everything negative from his thoughts. "Do you want to meet them?"

Bardock's orbs widened at this and quickly snapped to Goku who was staring at him with a pleased smile. What a stupid question, his first thought. Meeting his grandchildren is what he had wanted to do for the longest time. "Yes."
