~~~``` Chapter 13 - Better to keep the eyes closed.
Bulma slammed the door to the secret hallway, having not the will nor strength to go any further before her legs gave out from under her. She fell to the ground on her knees, her small delicate fists pounding the solid marble as she tried with all the strength she had to keep the sobs at bay. Blood dripped from her lip in effect of her biting down harder and harder so her lips wouldn't part in the cries she wanted to project.
Why was she so weak? She had known. Why did she find herself here on the ground, unable to keep the tears from gathering at her lids and pouring over her cheeks? Bulma knew he had died. It was an unconscious part of her that knew all along that he was dead so why, why was she doing this?
Though she may not know it, nor ever want to admit it, there was that small trickle of hope in her heart that thought Vegeta had finally found him again. No matter how much she denied it she couldn't help but think just maybe he was right. That Trunks was still alive and just waiting for them to come find him. Why had she allowed him to put that faith in him again? Bulma pounded the ground in her rage. He was doing this on purpose. Why can't he just let it go!?
She wanted to scream at him. She wanted to kick and punch him for causing the heartache once again to rise to the surface where it once again felt fresh. It was like he took a dull blade and ran it across an all ready bleeding wound. Bulma lowered her head to the ground, resting her forehead against the cold floor and allowing one sob to pass over her lips. She had cried enough. She hadn't thought there were any more tears to be shed but this proved that Vegeta still had the ability to hurt her more then he ever thought he could.
"I don't know weather to be overjoyed that it isn't me that you are tearing for, or to feel completely miserable that you are crying at all." Bulma sucked in her breath as she swallowed her building sobs, hating being seen weak in front of anyone. She wished she had heard the door but it was too late now.
"Please leave, Turles." Bulma breathed out in a painful whisper, sucking air through her stuffy nose.
"Not when you're like this." Turles lifted his queen from the ground and held her in his arms, holding her close to his form while he began to walk down the small hallway but she instantly fought him. Not wanting to upset her anymore then she was, he listened to her protests and set her on her feet once again. When she refused to look up, he lifted her chin with one finger while leaning down to rub his cheek against hers. "You knew he was gone, my queen, so why do you do this?" She sniffed in response though not having anything to say.
Instead she did the only thing at the moment she wanted to do, no matter if she desired it to be someone else. Bulma wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face into his chest. Surprised but pleased, Turles encircled her with his own strong arms, holding her tight against him as she tried to keep her cries at bay. It hadn't been the first time he had been in this position. Being her personal body guard got him into her arms more times then even Vegeta could claim.
It only seemed the day of Trunks's birthday she was more emotional then usual and always ended up crying softly to herself. It was the second year Trunks was missing that Turles had witnessed the odd display and took it upon his person to try and comfort his queen in any way. That was what broke the ice on their friendship. After that, they ate lunch together at times when Vegeta was too busy with what he was doing which was all the time. She would go on and on about how she first met the Sayian king and the troubles and obstacles that happened in getting to where they were today. So Turles in fact did know how much Bulma loved the seemingly clueless king but it hadn't stopped him from trying to be with her. It was fifteen years before Turles even told Bulma how he felt about her. She of course denied him but he never gave up trying. It wasn't until five months ago when he had her trapped in her room and tried to seduce her. That's when they became enemies. She said stop, he said no, they got as far as seconds away from having sex or rape as Bulma sees it, when Bra knocked on her door.
Needless to say, they hadn't been friends since but having kept the events a secret they were still around each other more hours then she wanted.
Turles took in her scent, not knowing what else he could do to calm her tears as he held her tight in his arms. When she began to pull away, Turles lowered his face so his cheek rested against hers whispering in her ear. "I wouldn't hurt you the way he does, love. Can't you see? I would treat you so much better then him. I would mate with you every night. I wouldn't deny you or turn away. I would care for Bra as though she were my own. Our life together would be perfect. And you will finally be able to let go of what Vegeta locks to your wrists. I can break your shackles, Bulma. Why won't you let me?"
"You may be able to destroy the chains, Turles, but the bond that Vegeta and I share can never be broken. What you and I have can go no further then that of friendship and lust."
"But it can."
"In your eyes. But not in mine."
"How can you say that, Bulma? After all we have been through together, how I have been there when Vegeta was too busy chasing after false hope. He doesn't know you like I do. I was the one there for Bra's birth. I was the one taking care of the child. I was the one catering to your every need every time he made you believe that Trunks was alive when really he wasn't. What does he do that I don't? What does he have that I don't?"
"My heart." Turles's black eyes flicked back in forth in confused pain. But he had nothing left to say. He could see in her glistening blue eyes that her love would never be his. He had lost. And actually he wasn't surprised. Bulma leaned up and kissed his cheek, "Thank you, Turles for all that you've done. And as much as I want someone with me right now. You're not that someone." She turned away and walked out of the secret passage.
Turles sighed and leaned up against the wall never once taking any notice to the dark eyes in the darkness of the hallway.
Goten dropped down behind the other Sayian who for the moment seemed to have forgotten he was following them. His brows knit at all the bowed heads as they stepped silently up the ramp to the massive ship. He distantly heard, "Find him?"
"Search has finally ended. We can go home." A female Sayian responded.
Other then that, no words were spoken. Goten, confused, shook his head, deciding that at the moment finding his father was more important. After taking in the awesome sight of the two mile long space ship, Goten cautiously went up the ramp, his eyes wide in wonder and amazement at the alien machine.
"Tilhi niv bisey ve wachsi." Goten swung around at the soft hand that touched his shoulder and words spoken to him. He grinned at the sight of the blushing female that he knew to be Princess Bra.
Goten bite his lip shaking his head. "I don't understand."
Her eyes widened as she hit her head. She smile a moment before grabbing a passing soldier quickly talking to him and repeating what she had said before. The warrior interrupted. "Princess Bra says she's sorry about what her father did."
He chuckled, "Don't worry about it. I'm fine."
"You are talking to a Princess, half-breed learn to speak to royalty before it gets you hurt." The soldier bit and interrupted anyway, before adding his own advice to his princess to the Lab and have the language programmed into her head. Taking the advice, Bra grabbed the half-breed's hand and began down the hall.
Goten, who had no idea what was going on didn't protest as he was lead through pathways of pure white marble and glorious pictures of bloody battles and heroic soldiers. He wasn't able to take a good look however as he was continuously being yanked through the extensive ship. Too busy to notice that there was suddenly someone before them, Goten ran into the female but quickly grabbed hold of her waist so she wouldn't fall.
She glanced behind him and smiled, "Doshi." But her features depressed only a fraction of a second while she removed his hands almost as if reluctantly. Her eyes went back in front and Goten looked up to see the problem. "Kali." He heard the female whisper in a stern voice. Goten swallowed nervously, uncomfortably but showed none of his tenseness openly as he glared straight back at the Sayian evilly staring at him with slit eyes. It was the words of his princess that brought his eyes away, Goten backed up tautly allowing them to battle out whatever it was that they were yelling about in that rhythmic language. "Stop it. You are acting like you own me."
"Don't I?"
"No, you don't. There is no mark, no ownership."
"Bra--"
"That's Princess to you, Commander."
"Why are you mad with me, love? I have done nothing but look out for your best interest."
"Because I am a Princess."
"Those were just words, Bra. You know this. I am not the one who wants to keep this courting of ours a secret. Do not get mad with me when I only obey what you ask of me."
"That is understood, mate, and that is not what I am angry with. When I wished to go with you on this mission, you acted as if I needed your permission. I cannot help but think that this courting of ours makes you think that I automatically am a possession that you can order around."
"I wish to speak with you in private, mate." His eyes strayed over to the half-breed staring at the picture. "Why is he here anyway?"
"I wouldn't doubt if it was to find his father."
"He left. A few minutes ago."
"Why is it that you have a problem with him, Kali?"
His eyes went back to hers, daringly taking a step to her. "You have an interest in him. And I do not like the way he looks at you."
"It is no different from how every other male looks at me."
"Except every other male has been overlooked by you. But not him."
"The interest I have, mate, is well…Look at him." The two turn their eyes to the boy. "He resembles you in so many ways, love."
"As he should. He is my cousin."
"You're cousin? Then should you not be happy?"
"He is no more my kin then that human father of his. But one thing I am relieved of is that now my father's and grandfather's suffering has come to an end. They have found their missing lineage, now there will be no more fruitless pain." Bra's eyes downcast, her whole demeanor quickly depressed at the thought. Kali was most aware and stepped closer to her, his eyes darting around the hallway not wanting to be caught in such a close position to the princess. He wanted to touch her, bring her into his arms but that half-breed stood not ten feet away making Kali hate his blood relative even more. "I know you had little hope of finding Prince Trunks but it must hurt all the same. Now that the mission has ended, love, maybe the King and Queen will figure out that what they really have been missing is how beautiful their daughter is." His tail graced her leg, as if asking for hers and granting the permission, Bra let her tail unfurl and curl around his tip, smiling her thanks. "I want to hold you, mate. When will this secret affair of ours end? I wish not to hurt you anymore with my false words and side way glances."
"Meet me in my quarters one hour after lights out. My door will be unlocked and unattended. Come then and we will talk. There is much needed to be said."
"Yes, Lady." He smirked while bowing at the waist, never taking his eyes off her. "May I have a private word with my cousin, Princess?"
"Kali…"
"Just to talk, Lady. He is family after all. I will send him to you after."
Bra bite her lip not really sure if that was the safest thing to do since she could feel the stench of battle in the air but nodded reluctantly before hesitantly stepping off.
Kali kept his head down as she past before sliding his eyes up to his cousin, instantly baring his teeth in silent jealousy seeing Goten watch the princess's back. Once he felt her presence leave, Kali stepped to his cousin, slamming his palm against his relative's chest to pin him to the wall. "Those straying eyes of yours will be mine if I catch you looking at her again, half-breed."
Not intimidated, Goten smirked, "What am I supposed to do? Close my eyes whenever she's in the room."
"If you must."
"I'm starting to think that something's going on with you and the Princess. This jealousy act of yours is a big hint."
"If you were not blood I would beat the shit out of you for your defiance. But for respect of my grandfather, I will only warn you. I am the most powerful Sayian in this universe beside that of our king. It would take less then half of my strength to wipe your pitiful hide from existence. If I find out that you have breathed one whisper of this little encounter to anyone you will seize to exist no matter who's blood runs through your veins. Is that understood-Cousin?"
Goten clenched his teeth to keep from lashing out at his new found relative and instead, bit, "Crystal clear-Cousin."
"Good." Kali released him with a shove smiling falsely, "Welcome to the family."
Goten watched with flexing cheeks and fisting palms as Kali strolled away like nothing happened. He shook his head before smirking. He got the best of the Sayian. Now he knew just what buttons to push. Goten turned in the direction Bra took and happily continued his journey.
"WARNING! WARNING! ACCERLATION ALERT! ATMOSPHERE ENTRY! SLOW SPEED! WARNING! WARNING…"
Arcadia groaned, shifting about on the uncomfortable floor of metal. He swallowed trying to lease the dryness in his parched throat as he wiggled about, getting feeling and awareness back into his limbs. Arcadia forced his rebelling eyes to open though they kept closing before he could get a good look at his surroundings. His hand quickly went to his head, feeling the sudden rush of pain to his head. He growled low in his throat warning the nose of a computer that if it didn't shut up, he was going to blow the damn thing up. Arcadia rolled to his side feeling as if he had a huge hangover. The shaking wasn't helping much either.
He squinted his closed eyes. There's a annoying computer that kept buzzing and the hard bed he was on was brutally convulsing causing his body to toss and turn. Whatever the hell ride he was on it needed to stop before all the contents from his stomach came out in the open. Arcadia held his head in his hands, cuddling it, soothing his mind from the aching pain but no matter what position he put himself in the agony would not go away. Especially while being on this stupid ride.
Having more will to shut the irritating roller coaster off, Arcadia forced his eyes to open, squinting them at the bright blinking red light. Holding a hand before his eyes to lessen the beaming color, he pushed himself up with his other hand before grabbing the table that was luckily right there so he wouldn't fall again. Being dizzy and being on a ride that seems to get even bouncier the more time goes by isn't something that will heal a hangover. He needed to stop the damn thing.
With the help of the table, Arcadia hauled himself to his feet wanting to hold his head and cover his eyes at the same time while he held on for dear life. Choosing his head was more important, Arcadia revealed to his eyes his surroundings and instantly his blood ran cold. It was then he was finally able to make out the words to the annoying voice.
"WARNING! WARNING! PLANET IMPACT!"
"Oh, shit." Arcadia groaned, "This is gonna hurt." He squeezed his eyes shut, preparing himself for the crash.
