~~``` Chapter 16 Misguided Love
Vegeta watched with subtle humor at the happenings that were going on before him. His beautiful daughter fought with the power of a true Sayian, something she rarely uses, against the restraints of Kali and Radditz. He chuckled quietly to himself when her struggles became so violent she actually managed to knee his first Commanding officer between the legs. At that point she turned to smash her free fist into Kali's stomach, instantly being freed for he obviously wasn't expecting that reaction. Bra jumped up in the air, over the incapacitated warriors and made a run for the door.
Vegeta's eyes flicked up to her, watching the 'invisible' Kali reappear in front of her, and quickly wrap his arms around her, locking her arms to her side making it impossible to get out of his grip. Kali straightened his back, and since he was a foot taller then her, her feet lifted from the floor giving her no access to use any strength. Vegeta's humor faded, slitting his eyes at the position they were now in. It was way too close for their bodies to be touching, but he said nothing and did nothing, knowing that it was necessary. He strained his hearing when he saw Kali's lips moving, whispering lightly in her ear, which at that moment, her struggles slowly started to calm. He however wasn't able to get the words of Kali but received the response of his daughter. "I will never forgive you for this." Her voice strain and distasteful but it seemed at that admission, Kali's hold loosened considerably, his eyes closed tight as he released her, quickly looking away not wanting to see the hate held in his daughter's eyes. What was more surprising then that, Bra didn't run or push him away. Instead she turned slowly, tears ran down her callous face while she made her way to him as if going to the death penalty.
Vegeta waved his hand to the two men who bowed behind Bra and then quickly took their leave. "Are you hurt?"
"What do you care?"
"Answer the question."
"I am fine."
Vegeta hated seeing that emotionless expression upon her pale skin. It made her look…so Sayian. He didn't like it. It didn't look good on Bulma and it surely didn't look good on his daughter. But he could say nothing to allay her sadness nor anger. Vegeta stood from his throne stepping down the two steps to stand directly before his daughter. Her eyes refused to meet his but that wasn't what he cared about at the moment. Lifting his large hand he went to wipe away those ugly tears. However, Bra at the last second titled her head, denying him access. "Do not touch me." She whispered, her eyes slowly going to her father's allowing him to see the hatred she held at the moment.
Vegeta chuckled though finding no humor. It was just better then letting her see how much her action had actually hurt. "Pure Sayian." He sighed, turning from her and stepping over to the large windows that expressed the darkness and endlessness of space. He stared out for a moment, wondering what exactly it was he wanted to say to her. Vegeta thought back to the first time he had actually just talked to his daughter, which sadly enough he couldn't remember. He looked back over his shoulder, seeing her tall, full form, and found it impossible for her to have gotten so…old without his acknowledgement. She was sixteen. Where had the time gone? "You resent me. And I understand. There is nothing I can do now. But I can reassure you. That my attention will no longer be on your brother. But more on you and your mother."
Bra laughed just lightly as she turned to him with a false smile that quickly turned into a slit, "You think that you can just enter my life whenever the hell you feel like it?" She paused. "Forget it. I will not allow it."
"Mistakes happen, Bra. There is nothing I can do to change it." Vegeta made his way over to his daughter, his eyes looking down the bridge of his nose, hating the reflection that was in her blue innocent eyes. It was silent for a moment before Vegeta spoke, barely whispering his words only for her to hear. "You may hate me, little one. All you like. And if you desire so much for me to be out of your life, then when you are of age, you may go and do as you please. But until then, a chance is all I ask for." Vegeta lifted his large hand to the side of her cheek, relieved when she didn't pull away. "You have grown so much. And I am proud of what you became. And I'm ashamed that I had nothing to do with it. Maybe it was for the best for I would have bound you to expectations that weren't even possible. A horrible father I may be. But wanting the best for you is all I can give. That is why I am about to do what I know you will hate." Bra's eyes squinted in confusion but was suddenly aware of the coldness that locked around her wrist. She pulled herself from her father's body, yanking on the metal lock.
With tears of rage falling from her eyes, she glared up at him, "What is this?"
His fatherly attentions vanished. He must be tough with her if he were to quiet her rebellious actions. This was the only thing he knew how to do. "This is a tracking ki depressor device. I will know of your whereabouts at all time. And for your tantrums none of my warriors will be put into the infirmary. You will have a guard constantly that will report all of your actions from here on. Until you learn your place and get rid of that male you are courting."
"You cannot do this!" She cried through clenched teeth.
"You will not understand now, Princess."
"I will never understand! You ask for a chance and yet chain me a prisoner! I am your daughter!"
"That is why I do this."
"You are so full of shit! I hate you! Vela, I hate you." Bra spun around and ran out of the doors. Vegeta sighed heavily and dropped his head into his hands.

One, two, three, repeat. One, two, three, repeat. Punch, block, roundhouse, repeat. Punch block, back kick, repeat. Punch, block, dodge, jump back.
Kali rested his bare feet on the cold metal surface panting heavily, blinking the sweat and blood from his eyes while gazing vehemently at the most powerful opponent he had ever had the privilege of sparring with. His naked battered chest puffed hard fast breaths, drawing in as much air as possible before another round of attacks began. His fist clenched tight in their raised fighting position. Knees bent, shaking with excitement and pure adrenaline as he waiting on pins and needles for his opponent to jump in the air and attack.
Vegeta huffed with exhaustion, holding his shaking arms out before him, steadying his bent legs to keep from jumping too soon. He could feel blood and sweat drip down his bare legs and chest, seeping into cuts and scrapes that covered him. They had been going at this for only an hour, such a small fight but both were fighting with all of their pure strength. No Ki, no beams, just bare fists and feet. "You…" Vegeta panted, "are getting better. Soon…you might…actually be a challenge." He smirked watching Kali growl and bare his teeth as he sucked further into position allowing his tail to unravel from around his bare waist and wave agitatedly behind him. "There's…still some fight…left I see." Vegeta mimicked his position, raising his fists higher and parting his feet more.
"I will win this battle, old man."
Vegeta barred his teeth, growling low in his throat only to see Kali smirk in response. Kali knew he hated being called old man hence the reason he said it. But his smirk faltered at the disappearance of his king and before he could even think about moving his eyes to try and find him, a sudden pain ripped through his spinal cord, causing such agony to make him fall upon his hands and knees, grinding his teeth to keep from crying out. Tears formed in his eyes threatening to fall but just as fast as the pain came it began to lessen as the grip on his tail released. Vegeta stood smugly behind him, letting the furry appendage to whip out of his hand and protectively wrap itself around Kali's waist where it should have been in the first place. No humor was present in his voice while he stared emotionlessly at the warrior on his knees, gasping for breath. "You got over confident and let your guard down. Imagine the expression on Maddox's and Radditz's face when they receive word of your demise. Remember, a Sayian's only weakness is the self-assured attitude they are born with. If I must I will beat it from you so you will not lose one battle ever. That is, except against me." He added with amusement allowing a smirk to rise on his lips.
Kali, still on his knees turned himself around, folding a fist over his chest and bowing his head, "Thank you, Vegeta-sama."
"To your feet." Drawing in a deep breath, Kali slowly and painfully rose to his feet, straightening his back and proudly holding his head high. "You honor your family, Kali. That is enough for right now. Clean and meet me in the dining room. There is something that I need to speak to you about." Vegeta backed out of the room going to his private shower quarters.
Kali let his tail slid free and sagged behind him. His heart once again pounded in his chest but not with excitement. No this time it was with fear. "Oh, Vela. He knows." He had to have known. Kali, too tired at the moment to want to think about, hurried to the locker room, calling one of his comrades on the Tele-com to contact his future mate.

Vegeta waited impatiently, swirling the red liquid boringly in the wine glass. All this food before him and the young one was taking all the time in the world. If he wasn't kind he would have dug in ten minutes ago. It was times like these he hated being royalty. Rising his dark eyes to the door a nervous Kali peaked inside before shutting it silently behind him and stood quite uncertainly against it. Vegeta knitted his brows at why he was acting in such a way. It wasn't the first time they had ever ate here so why was Kali acting like he was meeting his future pre-assigned mate? "Hurry up and sit, I have been waiting long enough for your weak ass."
Kali though slightly afraid took the invitation, his starving senses telling him that no matter what the king needed to speak to him about as not as important as his stomach. Quickly he took a seat and with the nod of his king, he dug right in.
After only a half an hour, the whole buffet of food was completely devoured, not a crumb left on the embroidered table clothe. Vegeta rested back in his seat, watching Kali humorously over his wine glass's edge. The young man fidgeted uneasily in the chair, eyes flickering this way and that, anywhere but on himself.
Vegeta understood the boy's nervousness, it's not everyday the king say they need to talk. Hell, the only time the king 'needs' to talk is when he's about to tell you the reason you are going to die. Hence the reason of the sweaty palms. Having enough fun, "Relax, Kali. I just want to ask you a few questions. Nothing that I hope will cause your demise." Visibly, Kali sighed, leaning back in his chair and taking a big gulp of water. Vegeta smirked. "However I expect an honest answer."
"Yes, sir."
"Drop formalities. You know the rules."
"Sorry, Vegeta-sama."
"How would you…describe the relationship you have with my daughter?" Vegeta knitted his brows, seeing Kali's eyes bulge and body toughen dramatically. Not really knowing what would cause such a thick response, Vegeta responded, "I mean you two are friends correct?"
Relaxing quite visibly, Kali quickly nodded. He reprimanded himself for his stupid reactions. If he gave himself away he might as well just kill himself now considering the king wouldn't take it gently upon him.
"Close enough to tell if she was courting someone?"
Kali's brows knitted at the confusion. It was obvious that Vegeta didn't know but to be asking such questions was very indirect which wasn't like him at all. If he wanted to know, then why not just go to the source? "Yes, Vegeta-sama."
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"Has she told you of this male?"
"No, sir. Are you sure there is one?"
"Yes. I saw her with him. All I know is that he is part of the Special Ob Squad. Which there are fifty of them on board."
"Princess Bra said?"
"She wouldn't tell me."
"Vegeta-Sama I would like not to get involved with this."
"What's that? You talk with her more then anyone. Know her better too. I'm sure if you just ask her."
"I can't."
"Why Commander?"
"Princess Bra's friendship means much to me and if I find out who it is she is courting I will be obligated to tell you and in effect destroy Princess Bra's trust. I could not dishonor her in such a way."
Vegeta placed his finger to his temple as he glared at the soldier before him, placing his drink down. "Are you sure all you feel for her is friendship, Kali?"
"I am destined to another, my Lord. Not only that but Bra is royalty."
"I know that. I just hope you know that, Kali. And you know the penalty is if the laws of the court were broken, do you not?"
"Yes, sir. Dishonor and then death."
"Good." Vegeta stood, going to the door, however stalling just before exiting the room, "If laws were different Kali, I would have had no problem with you courting my daughter. In fact. I would more then likely make it inevitable." Kali half smiled before dropping his head back on the chair, hearing the door close.
He sighed heavily, "I hope it is worth it."

Kali's eyes darted around the empty hallway, casually stepping up to the princess's door. Keeping his scotter on the nearest creatures, he placed his hand on the pad and worded his password, the door instantly sliding up. He stepped in, it closed shortly behind him. "I know you are in here, mate." He looked around seeing nothing though hearing noise from the bedroom. He made his way through the living room while trying to pacify her anger before he actually got to her. "I know you received my message and offer for a spar considering the anger I know you have for me right now. Which is why I am here, wondering why you never showed." He pushed the button to her doorway, stepping in when it slid up. However, he instantly stalled at the sight of Bra laying face down, crying brutally into her pillow. His brows knit, "Mate?" He questioned in confusion making his way to her cautiously. He crawled up the empty side of the mattress leaning over her to gently kiss her neck, whispering softly into her ear, "Please, love, I had no choice. Orders are orders." He cringed when she yanked away going to the wide window of darkness, her back facing him with shaking shoulders befitting her cries.
Kali stood, running his hands through his thick, long mane with a sigh. He bowed his head while carefully stepping behind her, resting his hands on her shoulders only to have her pull away once again and try to leave. However this time he reached around and gripped her arm, loosening dramatically at the sharp yelp she let out through her cries, turning to him to protect her arm, though he would not let her go. His shocked features met her swollen eyes. His hold should not have caused the slightest pain. He always had his ki to be just below hers, it was an instinct that he couldn't help when she was around. But his scoter made him aware at how low her ki actually was at the moment. Kali's power was so great that no matter the training it could never be that weak, the fact that made him worry.
Tears spilled from her saddened eyes, Kali saw her flash her blue orbs down and it was at the moment, he noticed a cold metal touching his hand. Carefully he took her wrist in both hands and held in front of them, inspecting it though having no idea what it was. "Explain this."
Bra closed her eyes for only a few moments trying to find the will enough to speak without sobbing through her words. She whispered however emotionless, "This afternoon you asked to speak with me privately and I gave you a time to come, allowing straight access into my room. Had I known it would be a trap to bring me to my father…This is what you sentenced me too." His eyes shot to hers in question though painful. "I am being constantly watched in where I am and unable to raise my ki even slightest if I were to protect myself against the bastard king's slaves."
"Oh, mate…" Kali went to wrap his arms around her but she pushed him away. Sadly enough he felt nothing of her hands but allowed her to step away.
"It is because of you I am as fragile as a new born human. I think." She started out, her lip trembling for a moment before she once again gained control, "I think it would be best if you and I do not--"
"Bra, no--"
"See each other for a while. I will soon have a guard that will be at my side every waking moment, keeping track of all that I do."
"Mate, I am sorry---"
"Leave. Kali." She whispered upon trembling lips. Kali wanted to protest but the sadness that shined in her eyes with the tears rolling down at her cheeks, he reluctantly nodded. He leaned down to kiss her shaking lips but at the last moment she turned her head, eyes shut tight allowing his lips to land on her cheek. She refused to look at him to see the hurt that movement had caused, her body shaking while he walked out of the room.
