~~~```` Chapter 21 Punished Fates
Goten sighed at the feeling of her ki, finally finding it after getting lost in the maze of hallways that were the castle. He had been so far away sensing her ki had been impossible but not it was closer then ever. He smiled reassuring himself that this was the door, quickly fixing his hair, checking his breath, and then with a prepared breath, rapped on the door.
Kali turned the corner, running his hands through his long hair for the last time, glancing down the hallway, wanting to return to his mate and apologize for his stupid and harsh words. However, he had said those words on purpose. He just needed to live with them now but he couldn't. It tore his mind apart and made him actually feel guilt, something that a Sayian such as him rarely ever feels. He had performed it for the only reason that if they were furious with each other, it might make what he had to do tomorrow easier.
But after ten minutes of walking around the palace he had finally started back here not having the will to leave her in such a state.. He wanted her, and be damned the consequences. Hearing muffled voice he looked up only to quickly ducked behind a corner, peaking out only his eyes.
Soon after, they widened and slit at the sight of his mate hugging the weak ass half-breed. He growled violently at the sight, his tail whipped the air, thumping against his leg. Kali was just about to step from behind his hiding block, and kill his traitorous cousin but at that thought, his whole body froze as Bra brought the male into her room.
He panted in fury, his teeth grinding, his fists clenching, nails digging into his skin causing blood to quickly rise. It was one thing when a male moves in on his woman, it was another thing when it was his own cousin. His power surged around him, a golden hue hugging every cervices of his body. The walls shook, pictures rattled and the ground beneath his feet slowly began to crack. Kali threw his head back with closed eyes basking in the warm feeling and instantly all of his rage and strength was suddenly torn away. He straightened his head with sad eyes and an evil smirk. This is exactly what needed to happen. He needed to be rid of her once and for all. This was for the best. Kali turned around and instantly located his pre-destined mate's ki.
Finally, he was allowed to get out of the hellhole that surrounded his life. After talking with the court and hearing their sickening conversation of the whole ordeal, giving him a massive headache in the process, he was able to escape all on the thanks to Radditz. Vegeta questioned even the need for the court seeing as their opinions meant nothing and their laws were a bit outdated but at the same time they were the representatives of his people and no matter how pointless it was at times, he was king and listening to his race's problems was a must.
Vegeta ripped off his gloves, throwing them on the couch along with his heavy armor and cape. Leaning against the furniture he snapped off his boot and while making his way through his bedroom to the bathroom stall, he striped his spandex suit down to his waist. He pressed the button to his large black marble Jacuzzi watching it with crossed arms and a mindless stare fill up.
Vegeta stripped the last of his clothes and claimed into the boiling water finding it quite relaxing for his tight and stressed muscles. He leaned his head back with a sigh, wanting to rid himself of all his troubles closing his eyes as if setting up a thin wall between him and reality. But he knew consciously that it was never going to happen.
All through the seventy-eight hour flight back from Earth, Vegeta had not allowed himself to realize that his mission of life had actually been completed. He hadn't let himself think about his heir, about his lost bond, or about the mistreatment of his daughter. For all of those things made him wish for death. And believe it or not, it scared the hell out of him.
Since he was of age six and under Frieza's care, no matter the problems or task given, Vegeta never gave into negative thoughts. For he knew no matter what, he was a Prince, a Sayian, and the true legacy. So regardless of the innocent lives he was forced to take, and the assiduous beatings he had brutally been through, he knew that in the end, it would all be worth it. But now… It was so hard to see that light that had always been shining at the end of the tunnel.
Instead of thinking of those depressing matters, he had been brutal on the ones that made him furious. Maybe he had taken it out of priority, but he couldn't allow anything else. Hence the reason he had been more focused on the way Kali had acted then his actually fault for the harm done toward his second child.
Bra, that was someone he needed to confront again. He didn't know what he would say or how she would react, but he needed to talk with her. The shame he felt on the subject would have eaten him alive if he had been a weaker person but ten years under the service of Frieza, no matter how long ago it had been, gave him the ability to push all feeling aside and deal with what he wanted to deal with. Call it cowardly, if you will. It didn't matter.
Vegeta's hand unconsciously rose to the smooth part of his neck, his fingers darting across his skin, trying to find the mark that should be there but had recently disappeared on him. He had known the instant it had left. It was right after his secret watch of his mate on the ship an hour before landing on Earth. If he had gone in to talk with her, would it have faded? Who knows? All he knew was that he had yet again failed in all the things he had promised her.
He will admit. It had surprised him but pleased him when she had made that speech before running into his arms. She had actually wanted to fight for them. And Vegeta for the life of him couldn't figure out why. Was it this love she tried to explain to him years ago? Was it just for the fright of change? Was she afraid to be alone even though she had been for many years just didn't realize it? It could be any of these, or all. But none that he could ever understand.
Letting his hand drop back into the water with a splash, Vegeta barely let his lids open just a smidge. He stared at the wall for what seemed like hours before moving them toward that door and getting the shock of his life. Vegeta quickly straightened, his eyes wide with surprise at seeing his mate standing in the doorway wrapped in a blood red robe. Her blue eyes gazed at him in what appeared to be nervousness. Maybe she was afraid that he would reject her, and that in itself made him feel so unworthy of ever touching her.
Bulma bit her lip, her hands fidgeting with the sash of her robe, unsure of what she was doing here. She had come by to talk to him about the next project she had planned, only to find his glorious body in the pure water, in a state that she had only seen when it had just been the two of them before even Trunks was born. His features were relaxed, untainted, unashamed. It had almost made tears swell in her eyes as to why the gods had to destroy their lives in such a way. She had undressed wanting more the anything to be in there with him, but it was her nerves that stood in the way now. They hadn't just laid in each others arms naked, willingly in over eighteen years. Even after making love, which might only happen once every year, they would turn away from each other as if ashamed that they were doing such sinful acts while their son was out there believing they were dead.
However, when Vegeta lifted his hand out of the water for her, the rejection she thought that was going to be placed on her faded, bringing back her normal self-confidence. She let the robe fall to a puddle at her feet, placing her shaking hand in his and climbing in, taking a seat snug against him with her head on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around her.
It was long before they talked causing Vegeta to press the heat button on the bath to warm the water back up. "I never thought our lives would be like this." Bulma whispered. Vegeta closed his eyes at his shame, laying his head back on the marble. "What did we do to make the gods so upset with us?"
Vegeta stared at the ceiling, "We mated. It was forbidden from the beginning and this is just their way of punishing us." Bulma had no response for she knew it was the correct answer to her question. It was told in the heavens that they were star-crossed lovers, meant to be doomed from the very beginning. They had thought they could fight fate, they thought they were strong enough to deal with the trails of their misguided love but they had been wrong and because of it lost everything they held dear. Ironic enough, they still had each other, no matter how little their hearts cared anymore.
Bra nervously bit her lip as she stood at the door of Kali's home. She had managed to escape the castle for she knew at sunrise they switch out and aren't very attentive. Kali had snuck out plenty of mornings so she had no trouble.
The reason for her jumpiness, yesterday was his coming of age. She hadn't been able to sleep all night for thinking of him with the other woman made her absolutely ill. She shouldn't be here. There may be a chance that Natally was still here and if that were true… Bra shivered not wishing to think of it. She secretly hoped that Kali couldn't go through with it, that he would decide at the last minute that he wanted her instead and leave Natally. And with that reassuring thought, she knocked gently on the door and waited patiently. It was a few minutes before Kali answered in nothing but boxers. Shock written on his face. "Bra. What are you…what are you doing here?"
"I…I wanted to apologize. The night you left, I had a talk with a friend and they, um…they made me realize that you right and um…I was wrong. I want to be with you, Kali. So I decided to tell my father and the court this morning of us. They are waiting for us to return. I want you there with me. Vela, I just want to be with you." Bra threw herself into his arms feeling him quickly wrapped them around her, squeezing her hard to his form as he took in her scent.
But just as she was getting relaxed in his warmth, he gripped her arms and pulled her back. A scowl apparent. "This can't happen."
"What?"
"We can't be together."
Panic ripped through her, "Why not?"
"Because, Bra, what I said that night still stands. You're too young. You're just a baby."
"Kali, stop it." Tears sprung from Bra's eyes as she stared at this fake creature. It wasn't her mate. He was different. Something was wrong with him.
"Listen, you may not be able to understand this, but I need to get on with my life. I can't wait around for you to grow up. It's taken you two years to finally say that you're going to tell the court. I mean, if you felt anything real for me you would have done it all ready."
"Why are you saying this?" No matter what it is that was bothering him, he wouldn't be saying these hurtful things. Bra wiped a stray tear that had rolled down her face, trying to keep a brave face in front of him, however it was slowly tearing her apart.
"Because I have to honest. Our fight made a lot of things real clear to me. I'm too old for you. I have certain needs that have to be met and they can't be by just a child."
"Kali, who's at the door?"
Bra's eyes widened at the female's voice and soon the door broadened to reveal Natally wrapped up in a huge fur blanket. She took an unconscious step back, quickly snapping her eyes over to Kali who stared at her with guilty eyes but a betraying smirk. "OH, princess, what are you doing here?"
Bra's lip trembled, "I see now." She slowly shook her head while backing away, never taking her eyes away from Kali's black sorrowful gaze, ignorant however to the fact that his orbs explained his obvious regret. Bra suddenly turned and jumped into the air.
Kali stepped forward, wanting to follow her, wanting to cry his forgiveness for his actions but a hand caught him. He snapped his angry features back at Natally, "You are not dressed mate." Kali growled barring his teeth, pushing past her, quickly going to the bedroom and grabbing his clothes, ignoring the female that stood in the doorway, watching with painful eyes. Kali moved for the dexit but Natally gripped his arm, "Forget her, mate. You belong to me now."
"Shut the fuck up, Natally." Kali slammed her into the wall, passing her, "I want you gone when I return." He yelled making his way out the door then, jumping into the air.
