~~~~``` Chapter. 22 Forever No More
"So how is your time so far on Vegeta-sei?" Maddox's asked from her seat on the couch shifting her eyes to her husband's brother while holding her small great-niece who slept peacefully in her arms.
Chi-Chi smiled from her spot next to Goku, "It's new. It's really wonderful here."
"And the food is great." Goku chimed in.
"The history of our people is so amazing." Gohan added.
"And grandpa has shown me a lot of stuff." Videl put in.
"The king is an ass." Goten gave his own opinion from his spot on the windowsill.
"Goten!" Chi-Chi shouted, "You are not to use that language do you understand me?!"
"Sorry." He mumbled before shoving himself from his spot and slamming the door on his way out.
"Well what is wrong with him?" She quipped plopping herself angrily next to her husband.
Gohan removed his wife from his lap, "I'll go talk to him." He found his younger brother next to the lake that was behind their uncle's house, flicking small pebbles in the purple water. He stepped quietly, taking a silent seat next to him. "What's wrong, Bro?"
"Leave me alone." Goten mumbled, wrapping his arms around his legs and resting his chin on his knees.
"No, I want to know what's wrong."
"So many things."
"Well, like what?--"
Goten suddenly shot up, "How about the fact that we are all sitting here on our asses talking of how our day is going while our brother is out there doing Kami knows what!? Do we even know if he is alive!? And if he is what if something happened to him!? I seem to be the only worrying about him! He is our brother!"
"Goten relax, come on. Be logical. Arcadia is fine and you know it-"
"No I don't, Gohan."
"Well, I do."
"How?"
Gohan shrugged, "I can feel him."
Goten took his seat next o his brother. "How come I can't?"
"It's something I learned from Piccolo. I can feel him just as good as I can feel you. I am connecting to the whole universe I think. The only thing I am disturbed is the fact that his ki is nonexistent at the moment. I can only feel his presence. And that he is standing next to a very powerful person."
"You don't know who?"
"No. All I know is that every time I concentrate on it I get this really bad feeling."
"Then why aren't you worried!"
"Because I know Arcadia can take care of himself. And if he feels threatened then his ki will explode to Super Sayian."
"You really think he's OK?"
"I know he is." Gohan wrapped his arm around his brother's shoulder, "So who's that girl?"
Radditz dropped down in the middle of the forest, his eyes scanning the whole region before clicking his scooter for closer observation. He turned to his right and continued down the pathless road soon coming to a clearing. He glanced to the skies and there was his only son, fighting visible demons in the air. The smell of blood waved in the soulless air but that was not what worried him. It was his son's strength that were causing the trees surrounding to be violently bend in a position they should never be able to bend. He himself had to power up to the max just to be able to stand fifty yards from him, there was no way he could get any closer. Radditz smirked at his son's power knowing that this wasn't even half what Kali held within him. "Kali!" He bellowed but like he had thought the boy ignored him. It was so hard to discipline your blood when your words and threats did nothing. "Do not disrespect me, boy! I know you can hear me!"
"Go away!"
"I can't!"
"I do not want to talk!"
"I don't care! But if you do not lower your ki the king himself will come here and put you out of your misery! You are shaking the whole damn planet!"
"Let him come!"
"No! Your mother will not like it!"
"I do not care! Go away!" Kali yelled once more, powering up, punching the air around him.
"What is wrong with you, boy!? Lower your damn ki before you blow up this planet and kill everyone on it including Bra!" It was then that the reading on his scooter flexed alerting him that it had dropped almost to the max of his own. The trees had righted halfway and the floor beneath his feet no longer shook. Radditz knew he hit it right on the mark, "Now get your ass down here and explain to me why Princess Bra just broke into the Royal Court meeting crying her eyes out!"
Radditz gazed intensely, keeping his eyes connecting with the black, bottomless slit orbs of his son as he slowly lowered his powerful form to the ground. Radditz took a deep breath, trying his best to heighten his ki feeling the pressure increase upon his chest for he could hardly withstand the power his son held. A fact though that made him swell with pride, Kali wasn't even projecting it. Sweat rolled down his face never faltering his expression when Kali's feet gently touched the ground, the solid rock instantly shaped and cracked around his boot for the pressure of his strength was too extreme. From the expression that was visibly on his son's hard, and deadly features, Radditz knew that he needed to calm the child before he ended up dead in the boy's blind rage. Blood dripped from Kali's clenched fists, muscles bulged from his sweaty naked chest, Radditz searched his son's eyes for an explanation for his anger.
It was when the wind blew that a scent had caught his attention. A smirk slowly rising to his lips but immediately it vanished when he realized just what was wrong. His son had finally mated but…the musky scent did not mix with the Princess. It relieved him that Kali had not gotten himself in worse affair with the Princess but then again Radditz knew that Kali had felt deep for her. And for a Sayian, dealing with emotion wasn't exactly something they took lightly.
"You are being very disobedient. Lower your ki, boy."
Kali lowered his head as if studying his prey's weakness, ready to pounce at any given moment. His voice was sheer with animosity, so low and promising of future pain, "This is your fault. If you cannot handle my strength, father then leave."
Seeing the waving of his son's furry appendage made him all too aware that he was dealing with a very acrimonious Sayian. If he continued now, he more then likely would end up in very painful positions. But this was his son and he would deal with it. "How is what my fault?"
Kali suddenly reappeared in front of him making breathing almost impossible, "You did this!" He yelled. "I fucked that whore that will now be my mate forever! A whore that I would have never even looked at had you not forced me!"
Radditz jumped himself back twenty feet, taking quick deep breaths before retaliating, "I did it for your own good. You needed to stop your childish lust for the Princess!"
"Childish Lust!? WE were one step away from creating a bond!"
Radditz's features fell with a horrid shock. No wonder his son was in such a state. The boy was suffering from withdrawal. His eyes lowered to the ground, ashamed of himself. "I am sorry, Kali." He brought his sight back up, "But only because I didn't do more to stop it. You knew from the beginning son, that a courting such as that would have never worked. You set yourself up for this pain." Radditz hadn't even seen movement let alone the fist that slammed into his cheek sending him flying through the air before crash landing painfully in pounds of rocks twenty miles away. He rolled to his side, coughing up blood brutally, spitting out a tooth. He wiped his bloody lips relieved that his jaw wasn't broken. He growled low in his throat pushing himself from the broken ground only to find his son standing at the top of the carter.
"We would have been fine if it hadn't been for you." His power and anger seemed to have been satisfied now what was left was the outside shell, too tired to be angry, but too remorseful to stop fighting.
"You believe that now but had I and everyone let you two continue having this affair you would be standing there just like this in twenty years hating me because I didn't do anything to stop it."
"You are wrong."
"We will never know."
"You say that and yet you think you know that my affair would have ended up in vain."
"Yes, it would have."
"Why?"
"Because, Kali. I have seen it with my own eyes. I pledged myself to never allow my blood to do the impossible."
"You are talking of the king and queen." Radditz nodded. "We are different."
"No, you just think you are."
"The situation is different. We have no child, we are going through no war."
"But you would have been. Instead of a war with an outside force it would have been your own race condemning you and her. And no matter the situation, boy, the ending result would be the same."
"They are still together."
"But with a failed bond. And nothing is more painful and humiliating."
His son's ki slowly lowered just as his features rolled into shocked believe. "A…A failed bond?" He whispered, lowering his eyes to the ground, shaking his head.
Radditz floated out of the hole dropping next to him. "Yes. And that is what I am keeping you from. It may hurt son, but soon it will ease and you will be thankful that you will never experience such a shameful and degrading despair."
Kali thought for several minutes gazing at the ground as if finding the answers he needed before slowly bring his eyes up his father's body till they connect with his, "But in doing so. You have bound me to a life of constant regret." Kali turned and jumped into the air.
~~~```

It was a spectacle sight that was meant to be watched with awe-inspiring eyes and feelings of amazement and a sense of freedom. It was the starting of a new month on Planet Vegeta-sei something that happened every 43 Earth days and how this was marked was by the Planet Geri which rotated around Vegeta-sei's two suns creating a solar eclipse for them both. The planet slowly eat away at the bright rays, till there were only ten inches left from what Vegeta could tell as he stood alone on his balcony. However this event never amazed him, it wasn't anything new but it was the first time he had seen it take place in over fifteen years.

His eyes flexed down only to watch the hundreds of space pods that shot up from land heading directly for the planet as usual. Those were the men and women who are of age and have no mate to share this event with. They will go to that planet and transform into their ape state, and wreak havoc without a care in the world. While the ones that had stayed will be locked up in their bedroom quarters with their life partner and not be seen again till late morning. Vegeta never went to the planet for more then not several reasons.

First of all, his mate and him were never on good terms; so if people recognized him in his ape form, which they undoubtedly would, they would think that he wasn't getting any and pride would be horribly wounded. But the main fact that if he were to transform, his power and rage-lust would all be too strong for the planet to withhold.

Vegeta closed his eyes, feeling his skin shake all over and his blood ache to be cut loose of the confining veins. It would soon be time. He needed to decide now if he was going to lock himself in the Gravity Room for the whole night like he had done the other hundreds of times or if he was going to actually try to rekindle what used to burn so brightly with his mate. He didn't know if he could handle being turned down again but he was willing to take the shot. He hadn't made love to her in two and half months and even that wasn't really what she wanted. It was a rough, impassionate, meant to be used with whores type of mating. Something that was never meant to be intended with a mate.

It has been four days since he had watched his daughter throw herself into the protection of her mother's arms in her grief of a destroyed bond she would have had with Kali. It had been shocking to say the least. It angered him that he was unaware of so many things. He has certainly lost his touch with reality over these years and now he sees it so perfectly, so perfect in fact that he is ashamed that life had become so…numb. Vegeta had known that it had been Kali all along. He had just refused to believe it. He had hoped, one could say, that it wasn't true. A relationship such as that would never be accepted by society let alone the court. He still remembered the past troubles he had when he had told the court and everyone else that he was mated to a human.

He wanted to talk to Bra. Maybe not even talk but he wanted to observe her, find out who exactly she had become. It was his job and right as a parent to know if anything else. What was his daughter's favorite fighting technique, what was her preferred prey, how high her ki was. He should know these things. He should know when the first time she hunted, hell he should have been the one to teach her that. But here she is sixteen, soon to be seventeen, and he hadn't even known that she was in love. And just by her eyes it was so evident.

Vegeta's mind went distant along with any other emotion besides that of lust and a deep need to hunt. The effects of the full moon tonight were beginning and the suns were only a sliver away from being gone for the next five hours. His muscles flexed in control, his fists clenching tightly. He needed to find her and soon if he was going to try and fix the pact broken between them tonight. Vegeta will admit, he was using tonight as an excuse to mate with her. But it was the only way he knew how. He wasn't a human, he knew their customs on courting and how one would take their mate out to dinner and dancing and that would be enough to swoon them into bed. However that is not his ways. A Sayian way is to demand sex. So Vegeta had to opt for the middle. He would be demanding but at the same time, allow her to make her own decision. He would not force her, only seduce her.

"Life was never easy for us." Speaking of which, Vegeta slowly turned around taking in a deep breath through his nose to make it look like he was sighing in annoyance when really he was taking in her lavender scent. She stood tall in the doorway, her eyes toward the disappearing suns. Vegeta quickly scanned her body constantly finding her enticing royal dressing gowns that always wrapped every curve just right and exposed just the right amount of flesh that gave teasing hints to her body but not enough to provoke rumors of sinful characteristics. But Bulma seemed oblivious to Vegeta's lustful gaze as she continued her speech. "When I think back before Trunks was born, even then there were ceaseless problems. If it wasn't Frieza, it was the king. And if it wasn't that, it was the court trying to find a way to kill me for they would be damned if a human became their queen. There were never any good times that we can remise about. Not even how we became mates for truly that wasn't…" Her heavenly sky eyes lowered to catch his gaze instantly trapping them in the pure vastness of blue. "But each night, we would come into these rooms, lock all our problems out the door and remind each other just what we were fighting for." A small smile tugged at her lips. "Us." "And that made everything…so…worth it." Vegeta stepped forward, catching her fallen tear on his finger and wiping it from existence. She quickly gripped his hand to her cheek, making him cup her pale skin so she could lean against his rough palm. Her glassy eyes shined to him, begging for answer to her next question. "Is it still all worth it, Vegeta? No matter the regrets we have, is it still commendable?"

"Yes." He said it without hesitation and her reaction flashed with confusion as if he would really say the opposite.

"Why? Why after losing our son, our world, our bond, Why is it still worth it?"

"You are standing here now before me asking me if it was all for everything or for nothing. And if I know anything, I know it was not for nothing."

A smile slowly teased her lips, "Why does everything appear so logical from your point of view?"

He smirked deviously, "Because I am genius." Vegeta basked in her laughter, he watched it as one would gaze at a solar eclipse. It was rare to see such a tune flow from her nowadays that it reminded him of long ago. She stepped in closer wrapping her arms around his waist burying her head into his chest while his embraced her shoulders, keeping her tucked in his strong arms, resting his cheek against her temple. He took a deep breath in spite of his warnings, drinking her scent and instantly feeling his body reacted to her. A relief like no other spread through him. Their bond may have disappeared but his instincts responded to her as if she were still his mate and that tore the stress from his shoulders and burned it brutally. He tightened his hold on her as if thanking her for that fact.

"I have waited an eternity to be held in your arms."

"Eternities end."

Bulma nuzzled her head closer however now the suns were completely gone and only the light of the full moon shined down on her reminding her tonight was the night. She knew he wouldn't be able to do this for much longer. She pulled her head from his embrace to gaze equally with his eyes that were glinting gold in their once black depths. His body was shaking terribly and sweat poured down his face but he seemed totally unnoticed of it. She smiled slightly. "So why aren't you in the GR, my king?"

His features fractured only for a second and Bulma could swear she saw disappointment and in that instant he pulled away, going to pass her while saying, "I'll go." But Bulma caught his wrist catching his attention.

She smiled reassuringly, "I was only playing. I don't want you to go." Immediately his lips covered hers savagely but with a coat of pure passion that caused Bulma to moan at the renewed feeling of his emotions for her. Vegeta lifted her in his arms, never once breaking from her lips instead slipping his tongue to swirl with hers as he made their way to the bed.

"Goten where are you taking me? We should be getting back, once that guard awakes, the whole planet will be looking for me, not to mention hunting for you."

"Leave it to me, just trust me right now."

"What is it that is so important?"

Goten ignored her as he continued to drag her further into the voluminous of trees that where situated on the outskirts of town. For four days he had to listen to this woman whine and cry about her lost lover and he was sick and tired of it. After meeting with Kali a bit earlier at Radditz's for lunch, he had somehow convinced him to at least talk to Bra. It had been some arguing and at some moments pushing and cursing but Kali's father had cut in before any hits could be taken and righted the situation. And after telling Kali that he should talk to Bra, there was nothing left to discuss. He had agreed maybe stubbornly but seemingly willing at the same time.

He gave one last tug pulling her out of the confines of branches to stumble into the clearing. She scoffed, "Look at this!" She nearly hollered quickly dusting herself off, "Could have at least warned me to wear something suitable." She mumbled straightening herself. Bra was just about to begin her tirade when her eyes cut sight of something and instantly slit with a vicious growl and a quick flick of her flapping tail, she slid her eyes toward Goten, "You bastard." She spit, hurriedly turning to the brush but Goten caught her arm, pulling her semi against him to whisper in her ear.

"At least talk to him."

"I have nothing to say." She growled through clenched teeth. "I was made painfully aware I can't give him what he needs."

Hearing her words, Kali growled barring his teeth, "I told you this wouldn't work."

"NO, Kali." Goten yelled at the feeling of the man's ki rising to take off. "Listen, both of you. It is obvious you two have something that desperately needs to be worked out. And neither one of you are leaving here till you do."

"You plan on stopping me, half-breed?" Kali smirked.

Bra turned him sharply getting his attention instantly, "Oh get off him, Kali. You're as much a pure bred as I am."

"Why is it you always defend him?"

"Why is it you always attack him?"

Goten grinned to himself as he slowly stepped backward, trying to cause the least amount of attention to himself, watching the couple stomp closer in their anger. "I wouldn't attack him if it wasn't so damn obvious he's attracted to you."

"Well, it's not like I have a mate or anything."

Kali stalled in his retaliation, staring down at his beautiful flushed ex-mate, wishing he could make love to her right now but knowing that nothing could be said in this meeting to make her think that their relationship will ever be re-ignited. Kali may want to be with her more then anything in the world and may hate the female he is now committed to but he had honor. He would never cheat on his mate. No matter how much he wanted her dead. "You wouldn't understand."

"Because I'm too young." She growled.

"No, because you are too blind!" His ki flared, quickly turning his back to her.

Bra scoffed, "By what?"

"By your emotions. You let your emotions guide you and believe them when they tell you everything will work out fine. But they won't." He quickly turned to her, catching her eyes in his, "They won't."

"How do you know?"

"Because…neither of us is strong enough. I will admit that."

"You are wrong, Kali. You are stronger then me."

"It doesn't matter now. I am mated to Natally." He winced inwardly at the tremble of her lip the instant those words left his mouth. And against his will, his naturally instincts to take her pain away sparked in him. He slowly stepped closer, lifting her fallen head with his finger just in time to watch a tear roll down her features. "I thought of you, love. I wanted it to be you." He whispered with undying regret and painful remorse.

"Why did you do this, Kali? I know you love me so why? Why did you do this to me?"

He dropped his head, knowing this would be the part where he could seal the deal on their fates. "I did this for you." Kali turned away and readied himself to fly however stalled by her words.

"You are right about one thing Kali. You listened to each one of those fools who told us it wouldn't work out. You listened to them and made yourself believe that they were right when they said we would end up like my parents. And that is what makes you weak, Kali. That is what would have made our bond fail."

Kali turned to her one last time. "It doesn't matter either way, Bra. Don't you see that? I cannot undo what I have done. So you may hate, mate, or you may love me, but either way, I no longer belong to you."

Tears instantly fell from her eyes and her lips trembled with anew. "Then neither am I yours." Kali watched with wide eyes as she ripped the gold jewel from her finger throwing it at him then instantly sprang for the air without one look back.

Kali opened his palm, the small round ring laid flat.
