~~~~`````` Chapter 28 Follow what's inside.
Goten stared up at the star-lit sky, his eyes darting from one tiny speck to another pondering, imagining which one held his brother. Did anyone care for Arcadia anymore? They all just forgot about him, like it was just one of his normal runaways. But it was different this time. He was out in space. Searching for people that would take him away from them. But then again, weren't these the people?
He remembered only bits and pieces of the message Arcadia had received from that pod. Could these people be the same ones that had sent that? They were Sayians, but this was twenty years ago. Another ruler could have taken over since then. This Vegeta guy and the one named Bulma could be a whole new set of leaders. The message had said that they had perished in a fight against Frieza so there was no reason to think that they were Arcadia's parents. Even if they were they didn't seem to be searching for their heir so why should he care? But Bulma…there was something so recognizable. She looked like the woman in the message. Maybe that was her mother for Bulma looks a bit too young to be anything over twenty-five. Much to young to have an eighteen year old son. But then again she did have a sixteen year old daughter.
It didn't matter. Arcadia wasn't here and they weren't looking for him so there was no chance they would come across each other.
Goten shook his head turning his mind over to other problems of this new life. Bra wouldn't see him. It had been two weeks since Kali's death and it seems since then, his life what been nothing but misery. Bra must have said something to Vegeta for now he wasn't even allowed in the palace walls. When he was able to sneak in, he had found out she had changed the code for her room so even then he couldn't get in. It was driving him crazy with a need to see her, to talk to her, to figure out what he had done to make her so upset with him. He didn't understand it.
If that wasn't enough, Radditz wouldn't speak to him either. Radditz wouldn't speak to anyone let alone him. Maddox and him usually stayed in the castle for hours on end where their child struggled on life support. Bulma had stopped by to see them sometime last week and told them that the baby was going to live but it was official that there were going to be complications. Such as what, are still unknown. And while she was there, Goten had asked her of Bra and all she could say was that she was still mourning for her lost one.
Now another problem had presented itself. Mom was getting homesick, and Gohan needed to get back to work. Since everything seemed to be going wrong here, maybe they were too much of a burden to stick around anymore. So they were scheduled to leave in a few days. He had fought. He didn't want to leave. He was figuring out parts of him he didn't even know he had. He had actually been able to spar with a group of people he had met and not hurt a single one. He liked it here. The women were tough, the men were mean, but overall the atmosphere was just what he thought his race would be. The way they dress in armored fur, how they hunted, how they demanded their mates into submission. It was a nature he had never experienced and actually loved it.
"I thought I'd find you here." That voice. Goten jumped to his feet, a grin sweeping his features as he saw the woman of his dreams stand before him. Her body magical under the moonlight. But her eyes turned away from him, and her head hung low, "Please do not look at me like that."
"Bra, oh thank Kami, I've missed you so much." He went to take her in his arms but she pushed against his chest. Feeling her rejection nearly caused tears to well up in his orbs. He stepped back trying to catch her ashamed eyes. "What have I done? What did I do to get you to hate me?" He whispered desperately.
"Nothing. I don't hate you."
"Then why have you shut me out of your life? I love you. I want to be with you. Your mother said it was OK. I just don't understand."
"Sit with me." Bra took a seat before the lake, Goten taking one beside her. His eyes not leaving her face.
"Look at me."
Her lip trembled and she bowed her head, shaking it slightly. "There are some things you have to understand about Sayians. We are loyal. We hold honor and pride before all else. It is in our blood and cannot be disinherited." She paused. "Kali had sent me a message before his death. And his only request is that I…never--"
Goten flung to his feet, "No! Don't listen to him! He's dead, Bra! He can't control you! You love me! I know you do!"
Bra roughly stood, her eyes glaring and full of hatred as she connected with him, "You don't know anything about me!"
"I may not know a lot of things, but I know that when we're together you feel whole. When I touch you, you feel nothing but loved. And I know that when you look at me--"
"I see Kali."
He shook his head, "You lie." He could feel water fall from his eyes but it didn't matter. "You love me, not because of Kali, not because of what I remind you of, but because I am a part of you. Damn it you said so yourself!" He gripped her arms, holding her to him, "Stop lying to me, and stop denying yourself everything because you are afraid. Tell me right now, look in my eyes and tell me you don't love me. Tell me that you were lying when you said you did. Tell me I have foolishly fallen in love with you and when I can't be with you it feels like a hole being burn into my chest. Tell me, you can spend the rest of your life knowing that you have given up the only thing that had made you feel."
"Either way I'll live with regret."
"He will never know."
"I will know."
"So for the rest of your life you would rather stay true to a dead person then stay true to your heart?"
"I cannot dishonor him."
"You already did. Now tell me. And if you can, honestly, I will leave with my parents and I will never see you again."
"I loved Kali."
"I'm not saying you didn't. I know you did. And I know you will always love him more then me. But that I can handle. Letting you leave however when I know how you feel about me, would cause regret my whole life." Bra blinked her tear letting it fall over her rim and glide down her cheek. When her lid reopened the face before her altered, a few scars slashed over his face, a devious smirk played on his lips, and his messy hair sprawled over his forehead. He leaned in closer, his smirk forming into a small smile, "It's OK to love again." She blinked once more, his face returning to his original, and Goten stared at her now. Her eyes closed, her lip trembled and her body shook, Bra held back her cries as his lips fell upon hers and his arms swooped up her body and pressed her to his tight form. Her hands tucked between them curled into fists but she didn't retaliate. She allowed the sweetness of his mouth, the toughness of his body to calm her if only for a moment.
But eventually her strength and resolve returned and she shoved at his chest till he released her. Bra backed away, "I can't." With that she sprung in the air and flew. Goten dropped his head with a sigh.
"What do you mean he's at the port base?!"
"He has taken it over only ten minutes ago, no deaths as far as we know. But he came out of no where and has taken everyone prisoner."
"How the hell did all of this go on without my knowledge!?"
"He transported there, King Vegeta. The wall does not expand to take the port base since it is not an important factor so it could not block his access."
"What does he want? Has he sent word yet?"
"No, sire, but he is planned to do so in the next five minutes."
"How many prisoners?"
"Thirty."
"Any Sayian?"
"No sir. It is taken care of by the Rethnis."
"Alert their king of their captive. Ask if he cares if they die. And see if he has any idea worth noting." Vegeta dropped in his chair, however right when he was going to start contemplating this new event, the one responsible for his distress popped up on screen. Vegeta straightened himself, "I'm sure there is a point to this, Klooer?"
"Why is it that I can use your title but you make no effort to use mine, King Vegeta?"
"Because my title sounds better. What is it that you want?"
"Keeping it broad don't you think? I mean I want many things--"
"What is it you want with the port station, Oh mighty one."
"I like that. Once your mate arrives I will tell you all."
"She is busy."
"Well get her un-busy, Monkey. I am sure she wants to hear this as well."
"Klooer--"
"Until then." the link snapped off.
Vegeta growled, "Get her."
~~`````
"What's going on?" Bulma questioned as she was guided into the Communications room.
Vegeta briefly ignored her, nodding his head to Bardock who instantly pressed the com button. He watched his mate's eyes as the flung to the monitor and instantly slit, her mouth forming a frown. "Ahh, beautiful Queen Bulma, so glad you could join us from your 'busy' schedule."
"Klooer. What the hell do you want now?"
He chuckled at her venom, but leaned more comfortably back in his makeshift throne. "Many things, my lady but right now, I want to make a bargain. As you know I have taken captive this port's creatures but I do not plan to do anything with them. Not yet anyway. I want to meet with the two of you, alone, no soldiers, just us, in this port station."
"No." Bulma was quick to reply.
"Oh, but Lady. You haven't even seen my part of the contract. I know you will both find this more then tempting." The screen flipped to black and white, electric bars sizzled and electrified, sounds of breathing filled the nearly black room but if one looked hard enough you could see the outline of a creature pacing the floors of the obvious cell.
Bulma took an unconscious step forward just as Vegeta rose from his dais. Their eyes squinted, the camera zoomed in just a tad on the caged animal. Both their eyes widened at the sight of the topless, shoeless human form panting as it stalked the floor, blood oozed out of his stomach, arms, feet and hands, sweat glistened in the tiny light. Vegeta involuntary stumbled toward the screen. He watched the creature throw himself at the electric bars and be flung back by the current, smashing to the floor. But it only slowly sat up again, coughing the blood from it's lungs. Vegeta's hand obliviously lifted, his fingertips brushing the screen.
It flicked off, and Vegeta's eyes finally blinked instantly meeting the bemused eyes of his adversary, his purple lips smirking. He leaned back to view him fully. "See you in an hour, nobles." It clicked off.
Vegeta without a thought nor glance back, "Start my ship."
"Vegeta!" Bulma outraged.
He swung to her, "What?"
"You can't possibly be going. You don't even know who that is."
"He is Sayian."
"Maybe, but are you willing to risk our lives for that one Sayian? Come on, you know you wouldn't be going if you didn't think it was.."
"Then you felt it."
"It is not him."
"You do not know that."
"You do not either. But I'm more leaning on the fact that he is dead! We know he is dead! It is not him!" Vegeta ignored her, glaring at her once before heading to the door. "Vegeta." He stalled, "You promised." He turned his head slightly to the side. He had. He's breaking another one. But he felt something the instant that picture was there. He is right about this. Vegeta dropped his head to the side, telling her he was going. Bulma shook her head. "Then you will go alone." She stomped her way past him, pulling away when he tried to go for her arm. He would deal with her later. Right now, someone was waiting for him.
Vegeta enter the bridge and strutted to the entrance. His eyes darted this way and that, his senses picking up only three kis. He tried to pinpoint were the only two were but something disturbed their whereabouts. Klooer wasn't at all hard to find.
Vegeta paced himself. He went over his options. Tried to figure out just what it was Klooer wanted. If anything it couldn't be good and especially with this mysterious male kid as part of the so called contract. Something could be going on at his home world right now. Klooer could have planned a surprise attack while Vegeta was making his way here and he would never know it for he had left his scotter.
Vegeta shook his head, Klooer would do anything to win but he wasn't as smart as that. No something else was on the crazy creature's agenda. Something that had to do with that kid.
His mate drifted in his mind. It was obvious she disapproved of his actions but what was he to do? He felt an unknown emotions when seeing that kid. He couldn't describe it, couldn't name it but it was there nonetheless. He wouldn't ignore it. He didn't want to.
He stopped at the door. This was it. This would decide everyone's fate on what the two kings of the universe decided today. With a deep breath intake, Vegeta opened the door.
