Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Taking Chances and Leaps of Faith ❯ In Which Much is Revealed ( Chapter 14 )
Saiyanbabe: Thanks for the review! I know, the cliffhanger was evil, but I couldn't resist!

There was an astonished silence and then everyone began to speak at once. Kitara pushed herself away from Lucca and stood close to Bulma who was raising all kinds of objections and questions. Cira moved forward and placed a comforting hand on Lucca's shoulder. He stared hard at Kitara, and then his face drooped and he shook his head.
"Forgive me, lady, you are not who I seek. Then she must truly be dead."
Cira gave her brother a consoling smile. Lucca had always felt responsible for those around him. It was an inherited trait passed from King to King. He had been closet to their dear Aunt Citlali, and it had hurt him deeply when she disappeared, especially after having to cope with his twin's disappearance as well.
Lucca looked once more at Kitara, ignoring the general chaos around him. "However, you are most certainly of Elrondia. How come you to this planet?"
"I was born here," Kitara growled. "True, my blood parents died when I was a baby, but my real family is here, around us."
"Do you know anything of your past, your heritage?" Cira asked softly.
Kitara shook her head, sable locks flying. "I know only that I am half-Saiyan and my father was named Saku."
Lucca shot a very hard look in Vegeta's direction. Cira tightened her hand on his shoulder to restrain him. The last thing they needed was a fight. Vegeta stepped forward and immediately, the crowd of people were silent, even Bulma.
"I did not say anything to you when we spoke, because I was not sure. Saiyan men were notorious for their amorous activities, especially before initiating a bond. I couldn't be certain that Kitara was the one you searched for."
Understanding the logic, Lucca forced himself to calm down. He turned to Kitara and said softly, "I can complete the mystery then. You are the daughter of the King's sister, Citlali Iolana. She bonded with a Saiyan Lord who crash-landed on our planet and they left together. My Aunt was always fond of grand adventures, and freeing the Saiyans from a dictator captured her heart."
Kitara was silent as she digested the information. "Very well, then. Shall we continue with the party then?"
"Ugh, how can you be so blasé about this, Kitara?" Bulma fairly shrieked. "You just found out that part of your family still exists and you want to continue with the party? Are you insane?"
"No, Bulma, I'm not insane," Kitara, explained, rather calmly in fact. "You, mom, and dad are my family. I have no need of relatives halfway across the galaxy. Besides, it's not as if they looked for me."
"We didn't know that you existed," Cira replied. "I assure you, that if we had, no dictator or war would stop us from finding you. You must understand that we received no communication from our Aunt and we had to assume that she was dead."
"You didn't even try to look for her?" Kitara accused, her eyes flashing slightly.
"Of course we did," Lucca snapped. "You must remember she left of her own free will. For years we searched, but there were no traces of her presence. It is difficult enough to convince Elrondians to leave our home, no one wished to search for someone who willingly left."
"Easy, Lucca," Cira murmured, "This is coming as a bit of a shock to everyone."
"Why don't we all go sit down at the table," Bulma finally said. "At least we can we can be comfortable, and I'll serve dinner. The discussion can continue there."
It was a rather good idea, and the Senshi moved to where a large, round table had been set up on the lawn. Around it were tables laden with assorted foods and delicacies. It was a buffet style meal, and once everyone had filled their plates, they all found seats. Lucca and Cira sat beside each other, Trunks on the other side of Cira and Gohan beside Lucca. Across from them, Kitara had sat, Bulma on one side and Vegeta on the other. Interspersed between them were the rest of the Senshi, eager to hear more about their dear friends past.
"If you didn't know about me," Kitara finally asked. "How do you know that this Citlali is my mother? It might be as Vegeta said and I am just a bastard child of Saku."
"Impossible," Lucca said flatly. "Looking at you is like seeing my beloved Aunt in the flesh. The resemblance is astonishing. When we have finished eating, I will show you a hologram of Citlali. All the proof you need is there."
"Besides," Cira interjected. "You're obviously half-Elrondian. No Saiyan I've ever met had pointy ears."
Instinctively, Kitara's hands reached for her ears. Cira pointed to hers, clearly visible since her hair was pulled back. While Cira's were certainly more defined, being a full Elrondian, Kitara's still carried the sculpted tip that gave away her heritage.
"Whatever happened to Citlali?" Bulma wondered aloud.
"I believe they died," Vegeta replied. "It is a rather famous story among the Saiyans, although it was always told in secret. Not all the Saiyans believed in the purging of planets and our allegiance to Frieza. Saku was one of them. He became a pirate and he spent many years systematically destroying Frieza's outposts. His last stand was before Frieza himself, and at that point in time, none could withstand the Ice-jinn. It was said his mate fought with him, she was destroyed as well." Vegeta paused and looked at Kitara. "There was never any mention of a daughter."
"It's very possible," Bulma said slowly. "That Saku and Citlali knew how dangerous their lifestyle was. They probably left Kitara here where she would be safe from Frieza."
Lucca rolled the idea around in his head, and then nodded. "Yes, it makes sense, Bulma. I don't believe we will ever know the full, true story, unless we find Citlali or Saku. It doesn't matter though, for my cousin and father's niece has been found. Our father will be overjoyed. Citlali was his favorite sister."
Kitara frowned. "I am pleased that the mystery of my past is cleared, but I hope you both realize that I have no intention of leaving my home."
Cira and Lucca glanced at each other, sharing a private conversation. Cira's eyes suddenly hardened, and Lucca sighed. "Very well then, I shall agree."
"Agree to what?" Kitara asked, suspicion on her face.
"To allow you to stay here," Lucca replied. "Although you are only half-Elrondian, you still owe some allegiance to your people. However, my sister has spoken swiftly and I shall speak with my father. Do not be surprised if we return."
Krillin jumped to his feet, his eyes dangerous. "Don't think will give up Kitara without a fight! You can't just come waltzing back here and think to snatch her!"
Lucca glanced calmly at the former monk and smiled humorlessly. "I would not dream of it, Master Krillin. However, my father would perhaps wish to meet his long lost niece. Kitara is all that he has left of Citlali."
Krillin scowled, but resumed his seat. "I'm just letting you know."
Lucca did not respond for which both Cira and Bulma were grateful. "Please forgive my brother, Kitara," Cira spoke softly, "And myself. It is quite a shock to discover you, especially since we believed all but two Elrondians to be accounted for. Family is a very important concept on our world. It is out of this deep love that Lucca makes demands for our Father has never been the same since Aunt Citlali disappeared."
"I understand," Kitara replied. "I am not angry, nor am I all that shocked. I knew there was another half of me somewhere. I've always been able to do strange things…"
"What kinds of things?" Lucca interrupted.
"I can control water for one thing and I am always sensitive to the emotions of others. My regenerative capabilities are also highly skilled."
"These are Elrondian traits. The control of water is your special gift. Every Elrondian has one and each one is unique. I can communicate with horses as well as take their shape. Cira can control fire. Your mother could transform into either an eagle or a hawk."
"Wow, that explains a lot," Kitara, said, smiling at her sister. "I only have a basic control though."
"That is because you have not been properly trained," Cira said, giggling at her brother. "Lucca could help you with that, you know, he's an excellent teacher."
Kitara's eyes lightened. "I am always ready for extra training!"
"Wonderful!" Bulma exclaimed. "Now that everyone is finally back in a light hearted mood, I have some news! I'm pregnant!"
Amidst hearty congratulations and Vegeta's scowling, Cira felt the charm around her neck begin to buzz. Her vision blurred slightly, then focused, then blurred again. Spots developed and a rushing sound filled Cira's sensitive ears. Grimacing, Cira pressed her slender fingers to her head. Beside her, Trunks noticed that something was not right and began to speak to her. The words seemed so far away, though, and Cira could not hear him, much less answer him.
The teardrop shaped charm glowed even brighter until all around her faded into its white, blinding light. Cira tried desperately to close her eyes, but the muscles in her face would not respond to her brains commands. From a distance, Cira could hear the faint sound of Raina's voice.
"This will help you to see your path, so wear it always and never take it off."
And then the light began to dim and figures took shape. In only moments, Cira saw years pass, lives take shape and fall. In less then a second, she understood her mission, her purpose. Protect. She was to protect.
The light faded completely and Cira found herself surrounded by the worried faces of the warriors of Chikyuu. Taking a deep breath, Cira saw that the charm Raina had given her was gone.
"It shattered," Bulma said, her voice shaking slightly. "I was so scared, are you alright?"
Slowly nodding her head, Cira looked into her brother's eyes. "I know what I must do."
"I know," Lucca said simply, and placed his hand over hers.
