Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Teal Eyes ❯ Chapter 13 ( Chapter 13 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

mystic_writer: I had no idea this fic would be so popular!! *sniffles* Wow, you guys are great!! Don't worry, there will be more G/V fics to come in the future after Teal Eyes is finished, but don't expect this one to end any time soon! I have an idea for a GT fic <even though the GT Gohan and Videl look waaaay too parent-like> and it focuses on the Sons, mainly Gohan and Videl's relationship. This one would be rated higher because of… some things. ^_~

Gohan let his knapsack slide to the grassy ground.

"You… want… me… to …train you?"

Videl nodded. "What? Are you afraid?" she asked.

Gohan laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "Me? Afraid? No! Heh heh!" he said. "I do know some martial arts, but I'm more of a bookish type, really!"

Videl raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, I guess, but you are hiding something." She smirked. "I can feel it." `And I'm going to find out what it is…'

`Does she know?' Gohan thought. `No, she can't… There's no way she can tie the Gold Fighter and me together… I hope.'

"Well, are you just gonna stand there, or are you going to show me what you know?" Videl questioned, waking the saya-jin from his muse. She had `that look' on her face again.

Gohan sighed. "I guess."

"Good!" Videl said, coming at him fast. She threw a punch at his head. Gohan jumped back in surprise, but was able to dodge the attack with ease.

"Attacking someone who is off guard?" he asked, watching as she smirked.

"You knew," she replied. "Quit playing dumb!" She came at him again and tried to kick him off his feet. Gohan disappeared, startling her.

Videl looked around. "What? Where did he-?"

"Looking for me?" a voice said from behind her. She spun to see a smiling Gohan standing with his arms crossed. Videl opened her mouth, but nothing came out.

"I'll train you, Videl… On one condition," he told her, letting his saya-jin side take over. "If you can touch me."

Videl stomped over to him. "How did you do that?!"

"Do what?"

"Stop acting clueless!" Videl snapped. "You moved like lightning! How did you do it?"

Gohan smirked. "I'll tell you if you're able to touch me!"

Videl felt like throwing a fit over his cockiness, but decided against charging into battle with fierce anger. "Fine."

"Fine," the saya-jin agreed.

Meanwhile, Goten and Sato were perched on the steps of the back door.

"Wow, oniisan!" Sato exclaimed, turning to her brother. "I didn't know `niisan could do that! Did you see him?"

Goten nodded. "Yeah." He looked at Gohan. "'Niisan's the fastest fighter around!"

Sato grinned and held up her little fist. "Yeah! Go `niisan!"

Gohan smiled and waved at her. When he looked back at Videl, he noticed she was stretching, a look of determination plastered on her face. He watched her muscles moving underneath her powdery skin as she bent one leg, extending the other. Her luscious black hair, held by her usual gold barrettes, cascaded over her chest as she warmed up. And… her eyes… They sparkled the loveliest shade of blue the saya-jin had ever seen.

`Wow,' Gohan thought. `In letting my saya-jin senses take over, I can see everything about her so clearly…' He mentally smacked himself. `Get it together, Gohan! Don't think about Videl like that! She's just your friend…'

`Sure, for now… but what about later?' his saya-jin side asked.

`Oh not you again!' Gohan frowned. `I give you some control, but that's it! No more thoughts!'

`Whatever,' the saya-jin in him huffed. "…You know you want her.'

Gohan clinched his fists. `Man, being a saya-jin is so hard! I wonder how VEGETA puts up with it! He is pure saya-jin, but I'm only half!'

"Come on, Gohan, let's do it," Videl said, brushing her bangs out of her eyes.

Gohan looked up. "Oh! Yeah, sure." He smiled. "Remember, if you can land a hit."

Videl smirked. "Don't worry, I will."

From inside the house, Chichi peered out the window of her kitchen. She sighed, a dreamy look spreading across her face.

"Oh Goku, he grew up so fast…" she whispered.

Crystelle sat beside Hercule in the aircar, arms crossed, as they traveled home. She looked almost like her normal self, but was still swollen here and there. She gazed down at her bare ring finger. The doctors had to cut off her engagement ring to relieve the swelling.

Hercule glanced at his future wife. "Honey, you want me to buy ya a new one now?"

Crystelle didn't move.

"Aw c'mon, it'll make ya feel better!"

Crystelle looked at him, tears in her eyes. "That was the most embarrassing moment of my entire life!" she spat. "I just want to go home!"

The champ sighed. "Okay." He steered the craft with one hand, the other wrapped around Crystelle's palm.

Crystelle looked out the window, her blue eyes burning with fire. `That little wretch will pay.'

After a while, the craft landed in the large front yard of the Satan Mansion. Crystelle pulled her hand away from his, slammed the door as she got out of the car, and hurried to the front porch.

"Videl!" she yelled.

Hercule found his house key on the key ring. "Here honey, let me get that," he said, putting the key in the lock, the oak door opening with a click. Crystelle pushed past him and entered the enormous hall.

"Videl!" she called again.

"Don't be mad at Videl, hunnybun," Hercule said as he locked the door behind them. "She didn't know, I'm sure."

"Yeah right," Crystelle snapped. "You know she hates me! I think she should at least give me an apology… I could've sworn I told her what I am allergic to the FIRST day she had cooking and cleaning chores!"

Hercule hung his keys on the key rack perched on the wall. "Well I'm sure it won't happen again…" Then, he saw it. Videl's keys were missing. Hercule scratched his head. "Crystelle? Did you take Videl's keys away?"

Crystelle picked up a glass and poured herself some wine to calm her nerves. "No."

Hercule frowned. "Videl!!! Come here!"

No answer.

"VIDEL!"

Silence.

The champ marched past his girlfriend, into the dining room and finally the kitchen. Plates and glasses from earlier were still situated on the dining table. The kitchen was still a mess.

"Videl! You didn't finish your chores! Videl?!" Hercule came back into the living room and sprinted up the stairs to his daughter's room. Everything was in place, and there was not even a wrinkle in the bed sheets.

"VIDEL!!!"

The said girl collapsed on the large rock in the Sons' yard, panting. She looked at Gohan, who had not even broken a sweat. He just stood there, grinning.

"You want to study now?" he asked, cheerful.

Videl lay back, stretching out on the boulder. "No…." she breathed. "I told you, I don't need tutoring."

"Whatever you say," Gohan said, smiling, as he joined her on the rock. He held out a fresh bottle of water to her. She took it and poured it over her head before letting the water run into her mouth.

"Well I could have done that," Gohan stated.

Videl smiled, chuckling. She propped herself up on one elbow and watched as the now bored Goten and Sato began chasing butterflies by the house.

"So how do you do it?" she asked, looking up at the teen. "You don't have, like, rockets in your pants or something, do you?"

Gohan blinked, before laughing hard. "Rockets in my pants? No, not the last time I checked…" He laughed again and looked at her. "Why?"

"One of my dad's explanations," she replied, looking down at her fingernails, "…for the super fast fighters that used to compete in the tournaments."

"You didn't actually believe that, did you?" Gohan asked, sounding a little more surprised than he wanted to.

Videl gazed up at him again. "No way but… there was no explanation" She looked away. "My father claims that he defeated Cell," she said. "I tried to tell myself that he was being truthful… but something just kept nagging at me!" She watched as Goten chased a green butterfly, Sato propped on his shoulders, holding out her little hands, trying to catch it. "Every thought, every reason went back to the mysterious fighters…. and… the boy with the golden hair."

Gohan sighed mentally. Videl sat up and looked at her nervous friend.

"You wouldn't have to know anything about them, would you?" she asked, her blue eyes filled with questions. "You and your family know a lot of martial artists… so I just figured…"

"Um, no!" Gohan replied, "Ah, we were just as amazed as you!" He lowered his head. `Man I hate lying to her like this. It's so wrong… She's the daughter of Hercule, the man who took credit for what I did. It's almost as if she deserves to know… everything…'

"I just wanted to know…" she said, "My father changed after he got famous… You wouldn't believe how understanding and wonderful he used to be! He…" She trailed off. "He loved mom so much, and it tore him apart when she died. He was so faithful…" She smiled, trying to hide her feelings inside. "He used to say he'd never even look at another woman. But fame also comes with more than money…" She looked down, her hair shrouding her face. "That woman… Crystelle, she is the worst of the worst. My father had flings here and there, but she was the one who stepped in. They've been together for almost a year now-that year has been hell for me. She tells father things I've never done… He believes her and not me… I'm his daughter! He's supposed to understand… I…"

Gohan looked down in surprise at her trembling hands. `Is she …crying?'

"I just feel so lost…" Videl confessed. "I feel my freedom is so far away… and what's even further away are those wonderful teal eyes that belong to the Gold Fighter. He brings me comfort. But… he's not around all the time… I've only seen him twice."

Gohan watched as she wiped her eyes. `I can't tell her… not now…' he thought. `As much as I hate to see her suffer… I can't…but…'

Videl felt a hand on hers and looked up, startled, at the demi saya-jin, who in return gave her the Son â"¢ grin.

"I'll be here for you…" the teen said, his face ablaze.

Videl smiled. "Thank you Gohan." Her heart was pounding, but… why? It was only Gohan! Just the guy she ran into at school, the guy that got on her nerves for being too secretive and shy… the guy she hadn't even known for a month! But still… Her chest rose up and down, each time thumping the dragon pendant that hung on a string, hidden within her shirt.

Gohan continued to stare into her blue eyes, feeling like he would fall to pieces if he looked away. `She's… beautiful…' the saya-jin thought, feeling the warmth of her hand under his. The teen's eyes widened. HE himself had just thought that-100% human Gohan! `Maybe… maybe liking her won't be such a bad thing… but… she seems to really like my super saya-jin transformation…'

Videl looked down at his hand, blushing. "I win…" she said, her voice soft. She gazed up at him, smiling.

Gohan glanced at his hand, which was grasping hers tightly.

"I'm touching you," she said softly.

He cracked a smile. "Hey… that doesn't count…"

Videl chuckled. "Well, I'm listening, Gohan…" she sang.

"I can't!" Gohan said, letting go her hand, jumping to his feet. "We made a deal, Videl-no cheating!"

Videl smirked, standing. "Fine then. Let's try again."

Gohan nodded. "If you're ready."

From the sidelines, the younger Sons sat down to watch the second round. Sato started poking her brother in the head.

"Hey oniisan, will you show me what momma taught you later? Pleeeeeeeaaaaaseee??" she chirped, still poking.

Goten pushed her jabbing finger away. "Okay, okay!"

Sato smiled. "Yay!" She and her brother became quiet and watched as the next round began.

mystic_writer: Here are a few notes that hardly anyone reads…

Sato has picked up another one of her new brother's habits in calling Gohan `niisan, but she calls Goten himself oniisan. Small variation of the word meaning `big brother,' as to not mix the two Sons up!

Just because Goten agrees to show Sato his skills doesn't mean he's going to train her. But since she does like to mimic him, there's no doubt she'll try a few moves! How cute!

mystic_writer: Here are the much needed-to-be-answered questions for this chapter!
