The long hall held no light for Pan and Gohan. The slam of the wood door told them they could not go back, so they continued forward with a dim light from Gohans chi.
Pan began to worry about Trunks and Goten, she knew Vegeta could hold his own against the strange animal, but she held her doubts when it came to Goten and Trunks. Trunks might be able to help run Capsule Corp but Pan doubted his skill in puzzle solving. And Goten was a lost cause when it came to being smart or clever in Pans eyes.
Soon the hallway was joined by two others in a cross way; they were the exits from the other two rooms. The Saiyans heard footsteps coming down the hall to their right, and into the dim light Vegeta showed himself. Scratchs and cuts were on his face and chest, not surprising Pan. "Didn't solve your riddle, did you?" Gohan asked. Vegeta humphed and crossed his arms. "Riddles are such a waste of time! How am I supposed to know the differnce between a false Father and a thief?"
"There is no differnce." Gohan answered. Vegeta stared at him, then smacked himself on the forhead when he got the answer. "It's so obvious!" he yelled in frustration. Only a minute later the stomping of feet was coming down the third hall, and Trunks and Goten came forth, panting sweating and covered in bruises and cuts. "What took you so long? I thought you guys were eaten!" Pan growled.
"Don't blame us!" Trunks yelled. "It said if we got its riddle right we could go free!"
"It went back on its word?" Gohan asked. Trunks glared at Goten. "What?" Goten asked innocently. "All I ask is what made her that way, and she attacks us!"
"All three of those creatures were human once, but through bad circumstances they became cannibals and deformed." Gohan said shortly.
"Oh..." Goten said, knowing what might had offended the creature.
After a few minutes of rest the group went forward, not knowing what was ahead. After endless walking in the dark, torches started to bring light to their road. The fire was greeted by the warriors with relife, but the new warmth and light did not make the hall shorter. After an hour of walking, the hall started to grow in size and soon the saiyans were in front a giant door, much like the one outside. With no where to go they entered, and walked into a new room.
The floor was made of the same strange black material from outside and pillers of the same black minerels had carvings of dragons and demons and held the ceiling high. Bright orientel lanterns were floughting in the air, dimly lighting the room. A sniffing sound lingered inside the darkness, and soon stomping was heard, slowly approuching the middle of the room to better see the intruders. In the light a umbelievably large body of man stood, tan, scarred, and tatooed. But the head was not human, but of a demonic bull. Two long horns curved past its face, and the tips were scorched black. It had a silver ring peirced in its nose, and a small blood red third eye was placed on its forhead. It held a long hedious spear in its right hand, and a golden axe in its left. It sniffed and growled. "My payment has arrived, has it?" Its voice was dark and huskey and made Pan shiver. After much silence Gohan asked what it was talking about. "My payment!" it howled. "Teigra has offered me the flesh and souls of mortals!"
"You're going to have to wait longer for your payment, then. In case you didn't notice, we have to find somone." Gohan said flaty. The demon laughed cruely and shook its head. "I've waited long enough... even if you're not my payment I'll eat you flesh and souls anyway."
"Threats from a hungry cow won't scare us." Vegeta said curtly. The monster howled in rage. "I'll show you who's a cow, human!" And with that it charged at Vegeta.
Everyone got out of the way, but Vegeta stood his ground for the fight. The bull swung his axe and struck his spear at Vegeta, but the saiyan prince dodged both. The bull kicked at the saiyan, but Vegeta ducked and kicked at the demon, hitting the monsters jaw and angering it more. It swung its spear at Vegeta only to have it broken in half and thrown across the room. The ox abandoned its broken weapon and tried to beat Vegeta with its remaining weapon. Vegeta effortlessly blocked it with his hand and shot concentrated chi at the demons chest, blowing a hole through its body. The demon was flown through the air and landed on its back, barking in pain. Vegeta walked up to it and asked, "Where is Hiro?"
"That boy?" the ox asked. "Why do you search for him so? Is it for vengence?"
"Answer my question!" Vegeta commanded. The beast laughed darkly. "Hiro will not apear for you. Before you get to him you must face three more gaurdians... you already defeated me. The elephant demon, and the horse demons. Only then can you find your Hiro. But I warn you. Hiros mind is now filled with nothingness."
"What do you mean?" Pan asked. "When Hiro arrived here, he was consummed with fury and hate. Teigra was afraid that he would kill her again, so she took his mind away compleatly. Before she could only fill him with anger, now she can wipe his consciousness of all thought; he only answers to Teigra." The bull laughed and soon after his eyes closed and life stopped flowing through his body. Pan gripped her hand tightly as she remembered the monsters final words, then gasped as she heard a loud cranking noise. The other saiyans were slightly starteld and looked were the sound was coming from in the darkness. They walked past the flying lanterns to where the dangerous sound was coming from to find a large door being slowly opened automaticly.
The door opened compleatly showing the saiyans a smaller brighter room. The room was square and the light didn't come from lanterns but from the sun. The entire ceiling was made of glass, letting the happy sun shine on them. The floor had dirt on the ground, save for the middle which had a large stone arena that covered nearly all of the room. The saiyans expected somthing to suddenly come out when the ground began to quake. In the middle of the ring a large stone came out from the ground, it glowed silver then it seemed to melt. The melting revealed a large man with an elephant head. It was bigger than the ox and its body was gray and scarred. Its large ears were peirced in many places and its tiny beedle like eyes glared at them. It didn't say anything, it just kept staring and waiting. It was then that Goten purposed that everyone (except for Vegeta) play Roh Sham Bo to see who'll fight it. "Why can't I fight?" Vegeta asked angerily. "Because you already fought that bull demon." Goten answered.
"That was hardly a fight! It wasn't even a challenge!"
"Well, that's too bad for you, isn't it?" Goten asked with a mocking tone. Vegeta growled and ignored them as they played their game. Pan got last place, then Goten, then Trunks, and Gohan rained victor.
Gohan jumped in the ring with the monster waiting patiantly. The elephant roared and soared at Gohan. It swung its fist at Gohan hitting his jaw. Gohans face landed on the stone, and was pulled up by the hair by the demons hand. The elephant demon punched Gohan in the stomic and face before throwing him on the other side of the ring. The demon flew to the other side and kicked Gohan upward before he even touched the ground. He flew up to meet his victim and threw him to the ground, and when Gohan made his small crater he gathered green chi to his palms and shot a chi blast at the saiyan. The green chi exploded and created fire on the stone ring, engulfing Gohan within its flame.
The elephant landed softly on the floor and stared at the fire, only to see a figure come out of the inferno. Gohans hair was blond and his eyes were green, and his face held an amused look. "You're a lot stronger than your friend from before, arn't you?" The elephant roared and ran at Gohan again. The demon swung at Gohan but missed as he ducked. Gohan gathered chi at his palms and unleashed it at the monster. The demon was compleatly ingulfed in the blue chi and vanished in its light, the elephant demon was defeated.
Above their heads the glass glowed a white light and only seconds later the glass vanished. The fighters flew up and out of the room. They landed on a balconey some feet away from them and observed their surroundings. They were on one of the balconeys of the castle, they wern't close to the very top of the castle and many towers of it loomed over them. Behind them was a room, but their veiw of it was blocked by black drapes, swaying gently in the wind. Pan was the first to step forward and past the drapes, the rest of the saiyans queitly followed.
Past the curtans was a large bedroom. In the middle on the left wall was what had to be a king size bed with white curtans veiling it from the world. Some green plants occupied the room and accross the bed was a hamper drawer. The drawer was sticking out and somthing gold and shiney caught Pans eye. While the rest of the saiyans studied the room and tried to find an exit, Pan walked to the dresser. She opened it and saw a tiny gold locket. Pan carfully picked it up and examined it, somthing about it sparked Pans memory. "What are you doing?" Trunks asked suddenly, making Pan jump. "What's that?" he asked pointing at the locket. Before Pan could answer Trunks yanked it out of her hand. "Pan! You shouldn't be messing with stuff here, it could be dangerous!"
"Don't lecture me!" Pan responded. "And besides, that locket looks familer! I think I saw Hiro holding it once!" Trunks looked at the gold peice of jewlry closely. "This belongs to Hiro?"
"What are you doing?" Gohan asked suddenly. He saw the trinket and frowned at them. "Don't you know not to mess with things here?" he asked Trunks. Trunks ignored Pans smirk and told Gohan about the locket, and eventually told Vegeta and Goten about it too, before they could lecture them.
"I never thought Hiro to be the one that owned stuff like this." Goten commented, earning a glare from his neice. "What do you think's inside?" Trunks asked. Gohan who was holding the locket rattled it a little. Somthing tiny was making a clinking sound inside the locket, and it only made the saiyans more cautious. Gohan slowly opened it and saw that nothing but a tiny metallic chip was inside. It greatly resembled a computer chip and it was as small as a finger nail. "What is it?" Trunks asked. Vegeta picked it out of the locket and examined it. "I know what it is." he said after looking at the chip. "This is part of a space pod, but the kind of model it belongs with went obsolete a thousand years ago. What's it doing with Hiro?"
"It could have been part of Hiro's space ship." Pan stated. "Maybe..." Gohan started, obviously in deep thought. "But if it is, than it only makes Hiros birth more of a mystery."
"How so?" Goten asked. "Hiro is only a year or so older than Pan. That means when Hiro was born he must had come after Friezas death. But the saiyans were all nearly wipped out when Dad was born. If Hiro was born somwhere else at a differnt time then how did he get his hands on a spacepod that thousand years obsolete?"
"Frieza nearly killed all of my people and left only four survivors, Nappa, Radiz, Kakarot, and myself. But that doesn't mean that no saiyan escaped before the destruction of planet Vegeta." Vegeta said putting the chip back in the locket.
"Even if a saiyan escaped, just think how old Hiro is. If a saiyans disapeared before planet Vegeta blew up, how old do you think the saiyans were? It certainly couldn't be younger than me or Dad."
"What are you trying to say, dad?" Pan asked.
"I'm saying Hiro might be older than he really is."
"But Bulma did a thourogh test on him. His blood told us he was sixteen and a full saiyan." Trunks said. "Maybe. But what if it was wrong? What if Hiro's as old as that chip?"
"How is that possible? Hiro would be a skeleton by now!" Goten said. "Teigra is powerful. She could build a castle from nothing, what makes you think she can't stop a person from ageing? Hiro has to be older! Teigra itself is a land of an anchient dead race, and Hiro is supposed to be the person who wiped them off the face of the earth?" Gohan asked.
"Shut up!" Pan yelled, making Gohan stop his theory. "Quit talking about Hiro like he's a lab rat! Hiro is the boy we're trying to save from this place! I don't care how old he is, or how he got here, he's still Hiro!" Pan was panting and the corners of her eyes had tears, but she snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a moan coming from the bed. Everyone looked at the bed and the moan was heard again, but this time Pan reconized the voice. Pan walked over to the bedside, against the wishes of the others, and opened the drapes. Pan gasped and she saw Hiro lying on the bed sleeping soundly. Pan placed a hand on his cheek and knew it was the real Hiro. She sat next to him carful not to wake him, and stroked his hair. "What's he doing here?" Trunks asked quietly. "Carful, Pan." Vegeta warned. Pan looked at him then down at the sleeping form of Hiro and shook her head. "He's just sleeping." she said quietly.
"Somthing's not right." Vegeta said looking around the room. The room was filled with silence as they listened, then a laughter rung their ears. "Enjoying the sight of your lost Hiro?" The voice of Teigra asked. "Well, I'll be taking him back now."
Hiros body was covered in a black smoke that slowly started to cover his body. Pan tried to lift him off the bed, but Hiros body seemed to be sticking to the bed and would not budge. Hiros body was engulfed in the blackness, and he disapeared. The laugh filled the room again, and Pan growled. "Where did you take him?" she asked angerily. Teigras voice giggled, and answered. "You won't be needing to find him, all you have to do is kill the horse demons, then I'll bring him to you."
"What have you done with Tala?" Vegeta asked. "That answer is best for you to find out." she answered. And with a laugh Teigras voice vanished.
Pan gripped the sheets where Hiro was lying in only a minute ago. "He was right there." she whispered angerily. Hiro was only lying next to her peacfuly and to quickly was taken away.
