/Hmmm…paganism..?/
I recommence my research…after taking a very long break I might add. /Let’s see here…/
Wicca is a rapidly growing religious movement, which is a modern day version of ancient religious precepts that far predates both Judaism and Christianity, and whose basic tenets and beliefs go back to the earliest days of humanity. From the time religious thought was first conceived, early humanity was fascinated with the concept of female power, as only women had the ability to reproduce.
Before men realized their role in reproduction, ancient societies were largely matriarchal, based on the awe that men held towards women, who were seen as the life-givers of the fledging human race. As a result, early human spirituality revered an all-female conception of Deity, a Goddess, which represented fertility to the nascent human species. Many early paintings, carvings and statues depict this early Mother Goddess, which includes a bloated womb and enlarged breasts, obviously in honor of women's ability to reproduce humanity, and intended for use in fertility rites--
I am disturbed slightly by the sound of my cell phone. I reach over for the phone to see that Goten is the one calling. “Hello?”
“Yeah, man. Why’d you leave?”
“Because…” I pause not really having an excuse for why I left him. I fixed my mouth for a lie to come out of it but…judging by the side conversation that’s being held in his background, me leaving him should be the least of his concerns…
“Yeah today’s turned out to be pretty weird,” I say, inputting my own words in to what it seem the other conversation being held was about.
“Why do you say that?”
“You haven’t noticed that there isn’t really anyone outdoors? Its like ninety degrees out there. No children at the playgrounds, no people sitting on their porches hardly. Its creepy,”
“I guess I didn’t pay attention to that…but I haven’t seen my mom all day,”
“Neither have I,”
“You either? Hmm… maybe they’re together,”
“Probably but that’s unlike them to be gone like this…by the way, who is that talking in your background?”
“My dad…he’s talking to Videl. She’s worried sick,”
“About what?”
“She hasn’t seen Gohan or Pan since last night,”
“Yeah?” /What…the hell is going on…?/
“Yeah…she said she came home last night when she got off from work and neither one was there. Up until now she still hasn’t seen them…she’s an emotional wreck.”
“You seem pretty composed about everything though,”
“I don’t see what the big deal is…they’ll be back. I can’t see them just disappearing into thin air,”
“But you have to question it though. How is it that everyone is disappearing like this?”
“You got me there,” He replies, still not showing any sentiment about the subject at hand.
I frown as I am taken aback by my research…on Christianity…The Revelation specifically. My many encounters with ChiChi and her many ‘we are living in the last days theories’ and the few that I shared with my mother…/This is incongruous…but why else would this be happening? This type of thing doesn’t happen everyday…or ever./
“Trunks?” He questions, taking me out of my inquisitive but appalling psychological conclusion…
“Yeah…tell me Goten. Is Gohan religious?”
“Yes…about as every bit as my mother is. He goes to church with her every time she goes…why?”
I pause in shock as his response adds onto the inclinations I already possessed. But still…it all feels very…ethereal in a sense and even…farcical. /I refuse to believe such…/ I chuckle nervously.
“Are you okay?”
“…..Of course I’m okay,” I force myself to say as my preceded thinking still clings to me callously.
I don’t want to share my feelings about this yet…I am very much so still in the mind set of it being nonsensical…that and Goten probably wouldn’t understand anyway.
Suddenly, not feeling the fire to do anymore research, I climb onto my bed and grab the remote to my TV. I turn the channel to some stupid sitcom, but I’m willing to watch anything if it’ll get my mind off of what it was undoubtedly already on. I sigh as I listen to Goten rant off about some girl as I watch the show. Hardly listening to him, I found myself still greatly deep in thought. But…that didn’t stop me from noticing the intermission of the sitcom. I watch with slight interest.
“This is Breaking Story!” I sit up a little as a balding Caucasian man sitting behind a desk was shown.
“Chaos! Reports of arson and theft at high rates all across the city.” My eyes widen at the sight before me. The camera men proceeded to show scenes of fires and people running wild, taking things that didn’t belong to them from trashed buildings. /Oh God…/
“G-Goten, are you watching the news?” I could hardly get it out.
“No, why? What’s wrong?”
“Some killings and vandalism reported also. It is very dangerous to be outside. Do not leave unless you absolutely have too! Stay inside and lock all doors and windows. Police claim to be doing everything they can,” The reporter went on, “In other news, Mysterious signs of disappearing adults and children,”
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!” I hear my sister scream from downstairs.
“Trunks! What’s wrong?!” I hear Goten call after me as I drop my cell phone. I ran down stairs as fast as I could. “Bra!”
I come to a complete stop as I approach the threshold of the house. My sister right next to me and my father outside standing before me. All three of us stood in acute trepidation for what our eyes revealed to us.
“Trunks…,” She breathes. I slowly turn my head to look at her scared trembling form.
“Some say that The Revelation…has begun,” Was the last thing that I remember hearing before I blacked out.
<<And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.>>
