Chapter Seven

"Cosorce Beam"

Cosorce raised her hands above her head once more. She turned her palms to the skies and closed her eyes. Sparkling gold smoke swirled around her, followed by silver, crimson and royal blue. Vegeta watched out of the corner of his eye. He figured those must be her colours. Colours are like a badge, crest or flag, chosen just for her. But by whom? Saiyans never chose their own colours. Vegeta shook his head sharply to clear his mind and returned his attention to Shai. How was it that this girl constantly distracted him? Could it be... a small voice in the back of his mind asked...no. NO! He thought firmly. He shook his head again and fired a ki blast at Shai as he tried to rise.

Cosorce tilted her head back and howled a sweet, single tone. A rumble of thunder replaced her howl as she ceased and lightning split the night sky like a demon's tongue. She began to speak. Her voice was not a yell but it was firm and clear and became more intense with each word as she chanted. "Earth, air, fire, water, ice, stars, planets and sky above, united we triumph, divided we perish, ELEMENTS UNITE! COSORCE BEAM FIRE!!!" A silver beam shot forth, the smoky substance transformed into mercury coloured energy. Sparkling strands of gold, crimson and royal blue twisted around it. Vegeta heard Shai's scream echo throughout the forest. The light, heat and force was so intense, Vegeta closed his eyes and raised his arms in front of his face.

Trunks saw a huge light, heard a gigantic explosion and felt a tremendous blast of ki. His heart was gripped by such ice-cold fear and panic, he tripped on a root and nearly fell. Father, he thought desperately, I hope you weren't on the wrong end of that!

Finally, the light faded and the dust settled. Vegeta slowly opened his eyes. Cosorce hovered nearby. Her expression was solemn but her tail was thrashing furiously. Below was a huge smoking crater. All life that had been there was surely dead. Could that be what was bothering Cosorce? No, tiny green sprouts were shooting up at amazing speed and baby forest animals were appearing out of nowhere. Vegeta looked again. Suddenly, he realized why Cosorce seemed so aggravated despite her amazing attack. Shai was nowhere to be seen. Vegeta looked around as he landed. Either Shai had been blasted into a fine powder undetectable to even his eyes...or he had escaped.
