The Life Of A Puppet
Chapter 1 - The Beginning
One ahead, the room's dark. Dodge left, then right. Slow bugger. The green form leaps into the air above me. Two advancing on my right. The walls are red. Two coming from the left. Only five of them? Five hundred would have been more appropriate. I like this room, it suits my mood. Slowly lifting my head, I see the look on the Sabimen's face before me. Confidence. Such a lowly creature is not worthy of confidence. I pull my arms close, crossing them in front of me. So boring. The blast causes most of them into the surrounding walls. All but one. Um, the confident one, he's behind me. A small beam appears from my finger.
"Where's that confidence gone now weakling?"

"Another successful session Prince Vegeta" accredited Nappa as he handed the young prince his royal attire.
"Don't flatter me Nappa" Vegeta quickly replied, snatching the clothing from Nappa's hands. He swiftly pulled on his armor; the small red emblem of the royal house of Vegeta-sei shined from its newly cleaned perch.
"We are not advancing here." He quietly clipped his cape back onto his Amour. "Freeza is just making us play games to keep us busy." He made a quick decision, an evil grin spreading on his face, "How do you feel about going off planet again Nappa?"
Nappa's face lit up,
"So soon? We just got back." Vegeta looked sideways at his companion.
"Get 2 pods ready. I will come round in half an hour."
"Yes sir!"
Vegeta silently smiled to himself, Nappa only moved for two reasons, food and a good fight. A dark shade moved across his features. "Let's not disappoint him then" he whispered to himself as he headed to the front deck of the Minal.

Zarbon and Dodoria meet him at the door.
"What are you doing here!" snarled Dodoria. Vegeta walked past and ignored him. Abruptly Zarbon was before him.
"Freeza will ask for you when he wants you," stated Zarbon. Vegeta looked up at the taller guard. Zarbon was not just an average guard; there was some thing about him but Vegeta could not place his finger on it.
Freeza mealy continued to stare past the glass wall into the vast space ahead, keeping his back to the others in the room. Purposely ignoring the two guards but not moving an inch, Vegeta spoke directly to Freeza.
"I will be going off planet with the next mission". He was not brought up to ask, and he wasn't going to start.
"Umph. Is that so Chibi no Ouji?" Freeza spoke.
Vegeta eyed the two guards standing next to him. They were just itching for the command to destroy the undersized royal standing before them. Vegeta slowly shifted onto his other foot, he never liked being the focus of attention out if a fight. Freeza, seeming oblivious to the stand off continued,
"Vegeta."
"Yes my lord"
Freeza slightly inclined his head toward Vegeta. "Make sure you do a good job."
"Yes my lord." There was no space in the day to contemplate the mysterious mood Freeza was in. He turned and left, but there was still space in his day for training. There's always time for training Vegeta thought.

Vegeta appeared at the docking bay exactly on time. Nappa casually walked up to his prince, a sneer on his face.
"Well?" Vegeta asked impatiently while walking to the pods.
"Small group, there's only going to be the five of us. Two Kreeplings and…" Vegeta looked at Nappa, kami; he had that stupid grin on his face again.
"And what?"
"A third class Sayajin called Radiztsu." His smile widened, "him and me never finished our bout last month".
Vegeta laughed. "Well then, I guess I'll have some time to myself ne?"
"Looks like," grinned Nappa.
The two Kreeplings were massive, both in size and stature. They were easily over nine feet tall, though one was several inches taller than his companion. Their skin was covered in small dark red scales; an array of claws donned the ends of the fingers and feet. The Kreepling's bulky frames reminded Vegeta of an insect that lived on Vegeta-sei, big, fat and stupid. It seemed that these Kreeplings were no different.
Nappa just approached his pod when the taller Kreepling called out.
"Hey! You there!" He slowly walked over to Nappa. The Kreepling laughed. "Get a load of this Drekat, the big guy's baby sittin'!" Shouted out Vapir. Drekat sneered and walked over.
"Didn't know that they let kids go off planet." Vapir walked up to Vegeta, leaving only inches between them. He lowered his gaze several feet to the smaller alien's eyes. His voice lowed. "Yeah, they might find themselves getting' hurt." Vapir tried his best to scare Vegeta, yet no emotion showed on Vegeta's features.
"Yep" big, fat and stupid all right,
"If I was you, I'd watch my back when we arrive on the surface."
Vapir just laughed harder and returned to his pod. The two Sayajins exchanged knowing glances. The other glanced about nervously.
"This will be more fun than I thought"

The alien known as Freeza had come to Planet Vegeta only 5 years after Vegeta's father had lead the rebellion against the Tuslefins. The Sayajins who had never had the planet to themselves found it new and exciting. They now had a taste of power and they wanted more, Freeza gave them that opportunity. King Vegeta was a busy Sayajin; he wanted to keep up this newfound partnership, so he sent his only son into the trade.
The planet trade had been in operation for countless decades. Clearing inhabited planets for a profit was not an easy job for most. Each planet was always scanned in search for new requites. They never had a choice in whether they joined or not. All the members of the planet trade were homeless, lost souls. The last of their kind. If you lived a life before the trade, you quickly learnt that you kept quiet, followed orders and tried your best to ignore the fact that you helping to kill, not to mention the rape and torture, of millions of helpless innocents. There was also the elite, those born into the trade, those who don't know any other life other than killing. Their only purpose in life was to serve. And for a few, killing became a way out; they began to enjoy it. And young minds are so easily influenced.

Vegeta never liked the long months in hibernation. Nappa told him that he would soon grow accustomed to it. Yet still the silence of his pod plagued him. He wasn't used to being alone. There were always guards and the ever-present Nappa close by. It was his father's idea for him to "join" the planet trade. He tossed in his sleep, left alone with his mind as his only companion.
It only took the small group three months to travel the 167 light year distance to Tar`Kan. If there was an advantage to planet trade, it was the new technologies found on each planet. The five pods screamed through the atmosphere. To the inhabitants of the planet they were merely five streaks of light in the night sky. Each pod landed twenty meters apart on the outskirts of a rudimentary city. The two Kreeplings were the first to emerge from their pods, the three Sayajins followed seconds later.
"Hey soft skins!' yelled out Drekat, hastily flying over to the Sayajins. "Tell ya what, so I don't have to see your ugly hides, we'll take the other side of this worthless planet, and you can have this side."
"Sure," replied Vegeta, turning to leave he added, "But if you were afraid to fight me, you could just said so."
"Hahah!" laughed Drekat, "A boy is challenging me! You'd just be a waste of my time." He waved a clawed hand to his companion. "Come'on Vapir, let's leave these wannabe's on their own. Hopefully they're run into an insect that'll finish them all off!"
Drekat and Vapir charged their Ki and flew off laughing hysterically. Vegeta and Nappa ignored the two aliens. They didn't want to waste their time on low-level soldiers; especially those who didn't even both checking their opponents power readings.
Radiztsu silently followed his fellow Sayajin's west, away from the city. He had been surprised and then terrified when he realized that they were coming with him on this trip. Sure, he'd met the larger Sayajin, Nappa, before. He remembered vaguely where. It was on one of the base planets, and there was a thousand zarin prize for winning the local, yet illegal, tournament. He and Nappa were in the middle of their round when the enforces had arrived, stopping the fight. No one tangled with enforcers, or you'd find yourself in front of Freeza himself. He had no idea that Nappa had connections with royalty, Vegeta No Ouji, nonetheless. He was only third class, nowhere near these two.
"What have I gotten into?" He wondered, "Vegeta No Ouji will be watching everything I do, he may be a child, but he has the eyes of a hawk."
"Hey Radiztsu!" Nappa yelled, "How about we finish what we started on No.42? "
"Um, sure." Radiztsu nervously replied. "Kamisama! Why do these things always happen to me?"
Nappa slowed his fight slightly so he could talk face to face with Radiztsu.
"So, still think you can beat me?"
Radiztsu froze for a split second. He couldn't let these two know how he was really feeling, if Vegeta took a disliking to him, he could easily bar Radiztsu from the planet trade. And that would mean that he would have to return to Freeza's Workshops on Vegeta-Sei.
"There's no way I'm going back there" He gave Nappa a challenging look,
"Why? Can't stand the thought of a third class bringing you down?" Nappa chuckled and returned to Vegeta's side.

Nappa obviously wanted to ask me whether he and Radiztsu could land and continue their "discussion". But he knew better than to ask me outright. I was in charge and it was I that made the decisions. I flew on for another few kilometers before lowering to land in a deserted area, Nappa one-step behind me. If Ki blasts were kept minimal, they shouldn't alert the natives and bring unwanted attention. I turned to the other Sayajins. Nappa looked as though he just wanted to test his skills and pummel poor Radiztsu into the ground, while the younger Radiztsu looked scared shitless.
"Well he is only fifteen, and a third class; he has every right to be" I thought to myself.
"Nappa."
"Yes Vegeta?"
"Don't let the natives know you are here and only call me if it is an emergency."
"Yes Vegeta!" He turned hastily away from me and jogged up to Radiztsu.
"Well that's one thing out of the way." I muttered to myself, charging my Ki and taking to the sky.

I had no idea where I was going; all I wanted was to be alone and I now had that opportunity for the first time in months. I had the run of the whole planet, as long as I kept a way from a certain pair of insects. And if they found their way in my path? Well I never liked bugs.
The ground below me was covered in greenery. There were plants everywhere, so different to Vegeta-Sei's red deserts. All I could see was forests upon forests; the seemingly endless green amazed me. I flew aimlessly northwest for half an hour and kept my speed down, so that I could observe my surroundings.
"Wonder if there is anything worth while on this planet?" I asked myself.
At that every second I picked up the sent of smoke on the wind, turning my head from left to right, I smelt that it was coming several kilometers to my left. Intrigued, I changed course. It did not take me long to find the source of the smoke.
The silhouette of a small village came into view. It was Miles away from any other village I had seen so far. There was a cluster of natives arguing loudly. I landed behind a nearby building. Next to me hanging on a hook was a large cape. I threw it around me, drawing the hood over my head. Silently I walked out into the outer edge of the crowd.
Years of military training kicked in and instantaneously I was one of the crowd. I was seen, but instantly forgotten. I slowly made my way through the throng. For once I was grateful of my small stature. As I weaved through the masses of moving bodies, I pulled up short and stayed partially hidden behind a rather large native. Gradually I peered around the native's large body; I found I had a clear view of a small clearing. In the center were numerous medium sized logs piled up around a large wooden cross. This sight didn't surprise me. Throughout the galaxy, natives of this class often create similar structure to burn outcasts, and depending on the natives, the outcast's bodies were either burnt or the outcasts were roasted alive. There wasn't a body on the cross…yet.
"So, do you burn them alive or dead my little natives?"
There was a disturbance in the crowd. The crowd opposite me parted and muffled cries reached my sensitive ears.
"Alive then? Well this should be interesting"
Several natives, noticeably larger than the others, emerged from the crowd. They dragged behind them their captive. The captive was in a large bag made of some sort of material. I could not see any limbs poking at the bag. Obviously she was bound.
"She? What made me think that the captive was female…?"
Even before she was presented before everyone, I could tell from the mixed emotions of the bodies around me told me that this was to be no ordinary burning. Intrigued I slightly brushed the mind of the large native I was hiding behind.
There are several stages of mind contact, or Kaizar, that Sayajins can achieve. All new born Sayajins have the ability to `sense' another's feelings. What I was feeling from the natives, was heightened by the numerous minds all feeling the same similar emotions. Though there was mixed feelings, one of anger and the other was of a deep set fear. This fear I knew well, I had felt it from hundreds of other beings before. It was the fear of not only the unknown; it was the fear of something entirely unknown, an alien so to speak.
Since I could not simply walk over to the captive to see who or what she was, I had to get my information from other sources. My teacher back at Minal would have a fit if he knew what I was doing. I was not to enter an unknown mind without a guide. I was still learning the technique, and if this native could also mind tap, then there was the possibility that he could read my mind as well.
There was the further possibility that he was stronger than I and take-over my mind, leaving me defenseless.
I looked at the native once more and then to the surrounding natives. There wasn't much time. It was known that Freeza sent out spies after teams or individuals, but he only did so if he was planning to do something to that individual. And Freeza's plans never left many soldiers alive. I had to take my chances. I carefully sent a mind tendril to the natives mind.
I was at once greeted by a wall.
"Shit…." I slowly eased off my contact, though I didn't retreat. "This is not good"
I was safe as long as the native didn't notice me. Quickly I increased my defenses; hopefully the native was too preoccupied with the fate of the captive to notice me. This was defiantly not good.
There was a commotion around the captive. It seemed that the natives were starting to take her out of the bag. At once the crowd started to cheer. Thankfully also did the `my' native. Letting out a mental sigh, I quickly scraped the surface of his mind. Moving images came before me from hours before. The natives had stumbled across the captive while they were hunting. There was an image of the girl standing before the native hunting party… then my mind went blank.
"What?! How…?"
Behind the girl was a long brown tail.
I had barely captured the image when I realized that I was no longer watching in secret.
