CHAPTER THREE

There was absolutely no way out of the room. She tried to open the windows, but it wouldn't open wide enough for her to fit through. Even if she could have opened the window the drop was too far down.

There was all ways a guard outside her door. They would switch swifts from time to time, but that was it. When she had knocked on the door and asked a guard why he was there he said, "The King has ordered supervision of you at all times until we find out if you're really a spy."

Bulma had sighed and closed the door. It looked like she wasn't going anywhere. Some time later, a guard had come into the room and frisked her for weapons. He didn't find any and left. As soon as he was gone, she pulled a two-way communication device from her bra. It was about the size of a paperclip. Unfortunately, she had tripped and fallen while being chased by the guards and the device was broken. So there was no way for her to contact her people.

Bulma lay down on the bed and slept the rest of the day away because there was nothing else for her to do. She awoke sometime later to the sound of the bedroom door opening.

She sat up in bed and watched the man Amara had called Prince Vegeta standing in the doorway. He looked at Bulma for a moment and then turned his head and spoke to the guard currently at the door. "You can leave now that I'm here."

"Yes, thank you, Prince."

Vegeta stepped into the room and closed the door. Bulma sat on the edge of the bed. He went a chair near the bed and sat down.

"You can't keep me here," she said, very matter-of-factly.

He laughed, but it was a harsh sound. "Is that what I get after sparing your life? You would have been dead at the hands of the executioner right now if it hadn't been for me. I saved your ass and this is what I get in return?"

"You saved me from him," she said. "But who's going to save me from you?"

He smirked and rose from the chair. "I'm not going to hurt you. What ever gave you that idea?"

"You want me to be your whore."

He drew back. "What? When did I say that?"

"You didn't say it in those words! But that's what you meant."

"How can you tell me what I meant?" he asked, moving towards her again.

"Why else would you let me live?" she asked, sliding back on the bed.

"Maybe I was interested in finding out who you really are?" he said.

"I told you I…"

He held up a hand to silence her. "Maybe I couldn't stand to see such a pretty woman die."

She kept trying to move out of his reach. Her hands slipped on the silk sheets and she ended up on her back. Suddenly, he was above her, his arms on either side of her.

He lowered his head and buried his nose in her neck. He whispered into her skin, "You smell nice." His tongue flicked out along her neck and she gasped. His teeth grazed her soft skin and he began to suck, gently.

"Stop," she said, meekly. She raised her hands and pushed at his chest.

He released her skin and looked down into her blue eyes. "That mark on your skin is my seal. You're now under my protection."

She fingered the mark. "A hickey?"

He smiled, satisfied. "Rest assured, I won't force you to have sex with me. You'll come around on your own soon enough."

"I don't think so," she said.

She lifted her head in an attempt to get him to back off. Their lips brushed and he placed his hand at the back of her head. He kissed her, lips parted. Since he'd taken her by surprise her lips had been parted as well when he descended on them. She moaned in discontent and bit down hard on his lip.

Vegeta drew back, eyes wide. He touched fingers to his lower lip and came away with blood. "You bitch!" He grabbed her by the shirt collar and lifted her off the bed as he stood.

He was trembling with fury as he decided what to do with her. He finally, exhaled sharply and released her. She fell onto the bed and looked up at him in shock.

He went to stand by the window and leaned against the sill. Bulma scrambled off of the bed and stood by the door. "You're trying your hardest to piss me off and it's almost working. You're a fool. I don't want to loose control and hurt you."

"Let me go! That's what I want you to do."

"Let you go? Where do you expect to go?" he shouted. "There is nothing out there, but fighting and destruction. You won't last a minute! You're safer inside the palace."

"I want to go," she said, sternly.

He threw up his hands. "Fine! You want to throw your life away?" He went to the door and opened it. "Leave. I'm not going to stop you."

She looked at him, suspiciously. She took a step towards the door and he didn't move. She stepped out of the room and he slammed the door behind her.

"Damn it!" He beat his fists against the door, causing it to shake and rattle as if it were going to fall apart. "You stupid, woman." He opened the door again and shouted after her, "You're making a mistake!"

Vegeta had followed her all the way to the front doors, telling her that she was a fool and how she was going to die. No one else confronted them and Vegeta watched her walk away from him and never moved from the doorway.

Bulma had been walking the streets for close to thirty minutes and she hadn't seen a soul. Sure, everything was torn up and there was trash everywhere, but other than that it was like a ghost town. Now she was in the heart of the city.

She noticed someone walking on the other side of the dimly lit streets. More people came to join the person. They stopped and seemed to be looking at her.

"Whose side are you on?"

She didn't know what they were talking about so she didn't respond.

"Are you a rebel or a conformist?"

"Leave me alone," she said. "I don't have time to play with your little gang."

One of them laughed and lifted their hand, the other's followed suit and Bulma realized they were going to launch ki blasts…at her!

She began to run as ki blasts showered down around her. She dashed inside of a building. It looked like an apartment complex. She ran across the carpeted floor and paused in the center of the room.

She turned as she heard crashing sounds. A hole was blown where the door had been and the wall crumpled in. A few large ki blasts struck the floor next to her and she was airborne for a moment. She skidded to a stop on the floor and looked up.

Her offenders were filtering in through the hole in the wall. She cursed as she realized that she didn't have her laser gun anymore.

The biggest of the men stood in front of the rest. "Prepare to die." He raised both hand, forming a V-shape. His hands began to glow as he powered up.

Bulma got to her knees on the carpet. She watched this man as he began to scream as his ki increased, dramatically.

I'm going to die, Bulma thought. It's just like he said, I'm going to die in this city at the hands of thugs.

He released the blast and Bulma covered her face with her arms. She waited for the searing pain when the blast made contact with her, but it never came. She opened her eyes and saw someone standing before her.

The room was filled up with light from the blast and when it cleared she saw Prince Vegeta standing there. She gasped. "It's you."

He turned. His clothes were cleaved, and there were cuts all over his body. Blood trickled from a cut on his cheek. "Wasn't I right?"

Bulma nodded, absent-mindedly. "Why did you come for me?"

"The seal is still on your skin, right?"

She touched the mark on her neck and smiled.

"Amara," Vegeta shouted. "Take her back to the palace."

Amara descended to the floor. "But what about you?"

"I can handle these guys," he said.

"Right." She took Bulma by the arm and levitated into the air. There was a hole in the roof of the lobby and Amara used to leave the building.

"What about Vegeta?" Bulma asked. "They'll kill him."

"Oh, I don't think so," Amara said. "You're underestimating him."

They flew towards the palace with the glow of ki blasts at their backs. The blasts seemed to be drawing more people to the apartment building.

"Shit," Amara said. "Those people are probably going to help those punks try and take out the Prince." She stopped in the air. "He's going to need help if they keep flocking there like that." She looked down at Bulma. "But I need to get you safely to the palace." She continued flying.

A familiar ki was approaching her. She came to a halt and Radditz came into view.

"You've got to help, Vegeta."

"That's where I'm going." Radditz took a glance back. "And a few others are going with me."

A half of a dozen more Saiya-jins flew past them. Amara gave one curt nod. "Be careful, love."

He winked. "Sure thing." He flew off, leaving a white trail behind.

Amara stood at the window, looking out on the city. Radditz and the others had been gone for a long time now. She wanted desperately to go, but she was ordered to stay and watch over Bulma.

Bulma was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching Amara clench her hands together so tightly that blood was beginning to trickle down them.

"You're hurting yourself," Bulma said.

Amara turned and looked at Bulma with angry eyes, she raised her hands to her face and licked the blood from the crescent-shaped wounds on her palms. Bulma frowned slightly.

"This is your fault."

"What?"

"If you hadn't have been so mindset on escaping into the city then…" Amara stopped talking when she felt a large ki coming in their direction. She turned back to the window and saw a large dome of yellow ki in the center of the city. It began to fan out towards them.

The room was illuminated by the large blast. When the light receded Amara looked out of the window again. The city was quiet and still.

Amara dropped to her knees beside the window. "No, Radditz, Prince Vegeta. Please tell me that you're alive." She waited and listened, but nothing happened.

She hugged her arms to her body. "How could you die? You can't leave me here, Radditz. I don't want to be alone."

Bulma watched the woman, who had seemed so confident when she'd first met her, mumbling to herself. Tears ran down her cheeks and she placed her hands over her mouth as sobs racked her body.

Bulma didn't know what to do. Those men could all be dead, even Vegeta, who had come to save her and it was all her fault.

Are Vegeta, Radditz and the others dead? Find out in the next chapter! I left it as a cliffhanger. I'm so perfectly evil, aren't I? Mwah haha. Look for the next chapter soon.
