Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Their Assignment ❯ Chapter 19
"Look at the sky. It's going to start soon isn't it?" Goku asked uncomfortably.
"Yes, very likely. The moon's going to be full," Vegeta frowned up at the sky, as the winds whipped through his hair, making it dance like the flame it resembled.
"Vegeta?"
"Yes Kakarott?" the prince growled in annoyance, edgy and angry at the questions interrupting his brooding thoughts.
"I don't want to destroy the Earth. I don't want to fight Chichi. Why do we have to do this?" he asked pleadingly, almost like a child seeking reassurance from an adult.
"We no longer have a choice in the matter. That was taken from us as soon as our tails grew back. What we want no longer is an issue."
"I know that, but how can I ever forgive myself if Chichi dies because of me? How can I ever ask her to forgive me for destroying something she loves so much?"
"We are what we are Kakarott. They understand that, and they have already forgiven us because just as we cannot help our natures, neither can they. What you will have to deal with, when this is over is learning how to live with yourself and with the death of your mate."
"If Chichi dies then I don't want to live!" Goku made his declaration fiercely.
"I know," Vegeta responded simply, returning his eyes to the sky.

She watched the clouds skidding across the sky, swept along by the restless wind. Soon the skies would be clear enough and the moon would be visible. There.
"It begins Chichi. Come on."
"Right Bulma." The two quickly raced to the mirror and through it, ignoring the wind lashing against them as they hurriedly climbed out. When they did they were on the other side of the city, in the business district. Large skyscrapers rose up on either side.
A loud roar rumbled across the city, shaking the foundations of every building. In the distance a large shadow raised up from the ground, growing and twisting until its head was thrown back, its fangs revealed, and fists raised in challenge to the sky. Finally they could make out the shape in the distance.
It was a giant monkey; the thick fur was just like that of their mates' tails leaving no doubt as to whom it was. Glowing red eyes gleamed through the darkness as a beam of golden light went crashing through a nearby building, causing it to begin crumbling. The tail slamming through it finished the job. Soon another shadow followed that, and another, until there were three were-monkeys beginning to wreak havoc on the city.
"Do it Chichi!" Bulma ordered crisply in a business like voice. Sorrow and pain filled her eyes as she lived out her mate's agony with him…

"Hey am I late?" 18 asked joining the cousins where they were standing in the middle of a road.
"Nope. You're right on time," Goku's voice was troubled as he made this observation. Vegeta remained silent as the last clouds drifted away from the moon exposing it completely. He looked back to his companions; Goku who still looked upset and his tail was coiling in distress behind him. 18 seemed emotionless as usual, except for her tail twining through the air, exposing her agitation and excitement.
Vegeta wrapped his tail firmly around his waist so that none of the others could tell what he was thinking and hid his emotions behind a carefully blank mask. When this was over and he returned to Hell, the king was going to have a lot to answer for. He returned his attention to the moon.
As he stared at the glowing orb he felt his hackles rise. The prince's energy flared around him and he felt his bones begin to shift within their flesh casing, growing and changing. He felt his skin began to prickle as small hairs began to sprout along his arms, emerging to cover every exposed inch of his skin. The bones in his face began changing; his ears grow pointy and his nose lengthening into a snout as his senses sharpened. His canines extended from their sheaths, as the rest of his teeth grew sharper. His clothes ripped apart, falling in shredded pieces as his muscles bulged.
Vegeta fought against the change, against the driving force of his nature, fought against the need to destroy that sang in his blood and filled his ears with it's song. He noticed the building moving beside him, growing smaller, or maybe he was growing larger he wasn't sure. He was too preoccupied with clinging to the thought of his mate, the memory of what they shared to notice or care about the building. The pain of fighting against the orders that were embedded into his very bones was so great that it nearly drove him to his knees. He couldn't hurt her… couldn't abandon his people… couldn't…
"This was a very special place to me. I wanted…"
You are going and that is final!
"I wanted to be here when I did this to you," she murmured, twining her arms around his neck and tugging his head down to where she could kiss him…
And you are not going to be allowed back into Hell until you do!
"Did I hurt you?"
DON'T CALL ME THAT! I am the king and you will address me as such until you are worthy to be my son!
His blue haired goddess sat back staring up at him with a pleased expression on her face
I am the king and you will address me as such until you are worthy to be my son!
She raised her eyebrows inquiringly at him…
…what will happen to any of the denizens of Hell who have befriended him in any way, or supported anything he's done, or expressed approval of the idea of his ascension to the throne…
"Just like that," she agreed raising an eyebrow at his agitation.
…the population of Earth multiplied 50 times, who will all be punished for insubordination to the king in favor of a rogue demon.
"It was an accident and you just apologized. Why wouldn't I forgive you?"
…until you are worthy…
She reached out a hesitant finger and gently stroked the soft fur, causing a quiet purr to start deep in the back of his throat.
…the denizens of Hell who have befriended him in any way…
"I want you," she admitted in a trembling voice.
…about the population of Earth multiplied 50 times…
"Oh no. I just want to be sure I'll be able to keep up with you. For the rest of the night."
…until you are worthy to be my son!
"You bastard!" she spat out.
…who will all be punished…
"I'm going to get you for this one! Just see if I don't! We aren't even supposed to be togeth-
…rogue demon…
She rubbed her body against his in mute plea
…who will all be punished…
She raised her eyebrows inquiringly at him…
…who will all be punished…
Vegeta's head fell back as he roared, his mind lost in the driving instincts that now engulfed him, a loud roar that rumbled across the city, shaking the foundations of every building. He straightened up from the ground throwing his head back, with fangs revealed, and fists raised in challenge to the sky. Giving in to the mindless rage that surged within him he channeled some of his energy through his fist, releasing it at a nearby building. His tail whipped through the air, demolishing what was left of the now crumbling building. He didn't notice when his companions joined him in inflicting damage on the city they had all lived in for their entire lives as humans.
He didn't even notice the red spikes of energy twining and spinning together as they raced upward into the sky. Not until it surrounded the three of them, imprisoning them and they began to involuntarily assault the shield that now cut them off from the city.

Chichi closed her eyes, raising her hands with her wrists together and her hands curled around the air, shaping it with her fingers until a small ball of energy appeared between her palms. Her hair began to float up in a dark cloud as her body began to glow, a white pulsing light that outlined her body through her clothing. Bulma noticed that it took on a pale red tinge when she turned her head back to watch the demons.
Red spikes of energy pushed their way out of the ground, and began to bend, twining and spinning together as they raced upward into the sky creating a dome of energy that enclosed the rampaging primates. The demons beat their fists against the barrier, shooting energy blasts at it and Chichi flinched at each blow.
"Bulma! I can't hold this much longer!" Chichi cried out, but Bulma was already raising her own hands.
Just as Chichi had been, Bulma was surrounded in a pale light as her energy began to burn around her. She felt her hair flowing up around her as she focused her energy into her hands. Very carefully she directed her energy toward the three demons, wrapping it around them through the barrier until they too were engulfed in her soft blue light.
As the energy enfolded them lightening arced between them and the shield. Superimposed over their present forms were those of their original forms. The demons began to shriek in outrage as they slowly began to shrink, the beginning stages of reverting to their normal forms. They resisted the change, and their own ki flared sharply in response, causing their reversion to stutter to a halt.
Bulma clenched her teeth as she poured more of her strength into the fading coils, preventing the demon's energy from thwarting her net. A drop of sweat trailed down the side of her face as she struggled to hold all three of them until they had reverted back to their human forms. The process resumed even more slowly than it had been before.
Suddenly the energy around Vegeta thickened into a solid yellow flame. Even from the distance they were able to feel the power flooding through him, as he became a golden glow. The loop of energy that Bulma had wrapped around him snapped like a rope as he flexed his muscles against the restraint. He returned to his full were-monkey form. The other two seemed to catch on to what he had done and swirling walls of yellow flame soon surrounded all three of them.
"CHICHI, DROP THE BARRIER!" Bulma screamed as she realized what the demons were doing.
But her warning came too late.
A yellow mushroom shaped cloud of sheer power rose up from the center where the three had been standing. Buildings disappeared, dissolving as if they had never even existed. The two angels watched as the first wave of the giant explosion raced toward them demolishing everything in its path. The breath rushed from Bulma's lungs as the world disappeared…
Ah don't you just hate it when that happens? The End. Not.
Heh, heh, heh, Like I said, I'm evil!
| But not that evil! Honest! So give me lots of reviews so we can all die happy when the
| giant thermal nuclear powered monkeys come and kill us, ok?
